"You know I'm not her Clarke.", the Lexa look alike said as she and Clarke embraced each other.
"I know.", Clarke said as she closed her eyes briefly to soak in her past lover. "The test isn't over?", Clarke asked the Lexa look a like while breaking their embrace.
"No, it isn't.", Lexa said to Clarke.
"Well can it be? We didn't want this.", Clarke said to Lexa.
"I'm sorry we can't stop what's been set in motion. Your species must now be judged through you.", Lexa said to Clarke as she moved over to Cadogan's dead body. "This man was unarmed, no threat to you yet you killed him. Why?", Lexa asked Clarke looking straight into her eyes.
"He killed my daughter.", Clarke said to her own defense.
"Is Madi dead?", Lexa asked Clarke, curious to know if he really did kill the teenager.
"No, not yet. But she will be because of him.", Clarke said, trying to justify her action of killing Cadogan.
"So your need for revenge is more important than the fate of the entire human race?", Lexa asked Clarke, wanting to know if humans were really worthy of transcendence.
"It wasn't revenge, it was justice.", Clarke said, trying to convince herself that she did the right thing.
"Klok, thonbluma ona noda tagon seimwe laik…jus drein jus daun.", the higher being said in Lexa's native tongue. (Clarke, a rose by any other name is still…blood must have blood.) Clarke rolls her eyes upon hearing those words spoken to her again. This was a completely different situation but she knew no one else would understand.
"You don't know my pain.", Clarke said not knowing what else to say.
"You're wrong. During the test, I sense every part of you. I'm feeling your pain right now.", Lexa said to Clarke.
"Really. Then feel me holding Lexa as she dies. Feel me seeing someone else wearing my mother's face. Feel me murdering my best friend to save my child, only for her to die anyway. Feel me finding her limp, staring, unable to move, locked inside her own body. Feel that.", Clarke said with angry tears rolling down her face.
"You suffer, then inflict suffering on others. Pain begets pain. That's not justice, Clarke.", Lexa said, taking a step back from Clarke, as if the entire universe is standing behind her. "And what's worse: you can't see it. It takes a toll on you, yes. You vanish into the woods for a while, or spend years in the valley playing mother. But you return to your dark nature at the first opportunity. You say you're doing this to protect your people, but you are all one people. That much, Cadogan had right.", Lexa said to Clarke.
"He may have had that right. But how he manipulated people to believe that was wrong. Look you can judge all you want, but this is how humans have changed over the years. We learn from our environment. We are creatures of habit. Not even a higher being can change that or judge us for that.", Clarke said to Lexa.
"What if I told you there was a way to change past mistakes and potentially fix the future outcome?", Lexa asked Clarke.
"What's the catch? There's always a catch.", Clarke said to Lexa.
"We will give you the chance to change most decisions you've made. A lot of the events have to happen; they are set in stone. But the way they are carried out can be different.", Lexa said to Clarke.
"So like going back in time? How would I know what needs to be done? Is it part of the test? Will we ever get to transcend?", Clarke asked Lexa.
"I believe you and Lexa would rather have peace with your people. A goal you two have shared since you met all those years ago. You will have all your memories, you'll know what events have to happen but things you can change. The events are set in stone but how you get there is your choice.", Lexa said to Clarke.
"So what, you just throw me back in time and hope for the best? How do I convince people to not repeat what has already happened?", Clarke asked Lexa.
"If your people have a specific role in what happens they'll remember everything with a trigger.", Lexa said to Clarke.
"So everyone who has died over the years will be alive?", Clarke asked Lexa.
"Yes, though again some may have to die. It's their destiny and set in stone. But their deaths can be different than before.", Lexa said to Clarke.
"So I'll get to see my mom again? And Lexa?", Clarke asked Lexa.
"Yes, even your father. He was never meant to die, there could have been a way to get everyone on Earth without his death. Everyone will remember in time they'll have a trigger of some sort that'll bring back all their memories.", Lexa said to Clarke.
"I'm still waiting for a catch?", Clarke said to Lexa.
"No catch, this test will still happen in the future. But maybe in a different way.", Lexa said to Clarke with a smirk on her face. "If you agree, I'll send you back now with all your memories. You'll be placed when you first were brought to Lexa.", Lexa said to Clarke.
"How will I know when people have their memories?", Clarke asked Lexa.
"They'll use the phrase we're survivors.", Lexa said to Clarke.
"When does this start?", Clarke asked as everything went black.
"Clarke, is everything alright?", Jake asked his daughter after realizing she had a blank stare.
"Dad? Is it really you?", Clarke asked her father with tears in her eyes.
"It's me, what's going on? Did you hit your head?", Jake asked his daughter with concern.
"No, just spaced out I guess.", Clarke said. Get a hold of yourself Griffin, you're the commander of Death for god's sake. Clarke thought to herself. "But anyway, how are we going to tell people that the oxygen is failing?", Clarke asked her father: remembering the conversation they were having.
"You aren't going to do anything about it. I will, I'll talk to Jaha about it.", Jake said to Clarke.
"But Dad, he's not going to tell everyone. He'll keep it a secret.", Clarke said knowing how the events went down in the past.
"He's my friend, Clarke. He'll listen to what I have to say. I promise you everyone will be safe.", Jake said to Clarke.
"I really don't think that conversation is going to go the way you think it will.", Clarke said to her father with worry.
"Then we will deal with it, we're survivors Clarke.", Jake said to Clarke as he got his memories back.
"I was waiting for that to happen.", Clarke said with a small smile as she hugged her father.
"It is so good to see you again kiddo. So how do we do this?", Jake asked his daughter.
"Well I was told certain things have to happen, but the way they happen can be changed. I'm hoping this is one of those circumstances. I'm thinking we're going to have to persuade Jaha to let the 100 go to the ground. Somehow we have to convince him not to kill you as well.", Clarke said to her father.
"How are you going to go down to Earth with the 100? If you change things you won't be a prisoner.", Jake said to Clarke.
"I'm hoping he'll have his memories by then. He'll have to let me go, honestly he'll have to let everyone go at that point. We have certain events that need to be played out. So eventually we need everyone on the ground. Well maybe not Pike, he can be floated.", Clarke said to her father.
"Pike? What did he do?", Jake asked his daughter.
"You don't want to know, he just causes a headache more than anything.", Clarke said to Jake.
"Sounds about right, there was always something off with that man.", Jake said to Clarke with a smirk on his face.
"First things first, we have to find mom and get her memories back. Then we'll go from there.", Clarke said to her father.
"She should be on her lunch hour. Let's go pay her a visit shall we?", Jake said then asked his daughter as he started to walk out of their apartment.
"Dad, what if this doesn't work?", Clarke asked her father.
"It'll work, kiddo. I believe you can convince anyone to listen to you. That's one thing you share with your mother.", Jake said to Clarke as they started walking to the medical wing.
"I think I got that from you as well.", Clarke said to her father with a loving smile on her face.
"Thanks, kiddo.", Jake said with a chuckle to his voice.
"Do you think with how stubborn mom is she'll listen?", Clarke asked her father.
"I'm sure we can get her to see the reason.", Jake said as they reached the medical wing.
"Jake, Clarke. What brings you here?", Abby asked her husband and daughter.
"Do you have a few minutes to talk?", Jake asked his wife.
"Yeah, come in my office.", Abby said to them as they followed her into her office.
"You know how I've been working extra hours?", Jake asked Abby.
"Yes, you said it was to fix some things.", Abby said to Jake.
"I was, but I also was trying to figure out how to save us all. The oxygen tanks are failing. We were never supposed to be up here this long. I've been trying to find a way to fix it, but I haven't found a solution.", Jake said to Abby as Abby sat down in her chair, shocked at the news she was just given.
"So what do we do? We have to bring this to Thelonious' attention.", Abby said to Jake.
"We will, but mom I may have a solution that we can also present to Jaha.", Clarke said to Abby.
"What do you propose we do? You're just a kid Clarke, you shouldn't be involved with this.", Abby said to Clarke.
"I haven't been a kid for many years mom.", Clarke said with a small smile on her face. Knowing her mother doesn't know what she's talking about as of yet.
"What do you mean by that Clarke? Of course you're still just a kid.", Abby said to Clarke.
"That's besides the point. She has a really good idea, Abby.", Jake said knowing his daughter was right.
"I don't like that you involved her. But I'll hear you out.", Abby said to Jake then to Clarke.
"I know for a fact that the Earth is livable. Don't ask how I know you'll know in time. But just trust me on this. If we can get everyone down there we can live.", Clarke said to her mother.
"How can I trust that you know? You've never been to Earth Clarke. No one has since the bombs. There can be so much radiation down there, it could kill us.", Abby said to Clarke.
"Mom it's been over a hundred years since the bombs exploded. I'm sure the Earth has healed by now. Could there be radiation? Sure but us being born in space, doesn't our body metabolize radiation better than they did a hundred years ago?", Clarke asked her mother, already knowing the answer.
"That might be the case, but we've never studied it before. We have no idea if our bodies can handle radiation. We can assume that being born in space may have adapted our bodies in ways we don't know about. But we can't know for certain.", Abby said to Clarke.
"Well what if we put a hundred prisoners on a drop ship and send them there? We can track their health with the bracelets you've made. Yes I know about them, if the Earth is liveable then we send more people down.", Clarke said to Abby.
"You know about the bracelets? You're not going to tell me how you know that are you?", Abby said to Clarke.
"Nope, please just trust me on this. I know we can make a life down there.", Clarke said to Abby.
"Even if we present this to Thelonious, he's not going to agree.", Abby said to Clarke.
"Oh I think I can get him to see our way. We're survivors mom. We can save the human race.", Clarke said hoping by her saying the trigger words it would let Abby remember.
"Clarke? Jake?", Abby asked as she blinked, remembering everything.
"Good to have you back Abby.", Jake said as he hugged his wife.
"Can I hug you? I've missed you.", Clarke said with tears in her eyes.
"Of course you can hug me. Come here.", Abby said as she took her daughter into her arms. "I've missed you, my baby girl.", Abby said to Clarke as she held her.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you. Both of you.", Clarke said as she broke the hug and looked at her father.
"So how do we go about this?", Abby asked Clarke and Jake.
"Well hopefully we can get Jaha to receive his memories before our plan backfires.", Clarke said to her mother with a small smile on her face.
"What do we do once we are on the ground though? We'll have to face everything we faced before.", Abby said to Clarke.
"We will, but we can change how they are played out. First step is getting us to Earth. Then I'll find Lexa and talk to her. Hopefully getting her memories back will help us.", Clarke said to Abby. "We already know what's going to happen and how it already happened. We just have to change how we do things. I wasn't sent back to fuck up again.", Clarke said to her parents.
"Maybe we really will have peace.", Abby said with a small smile on her face.
"Maybe, that's the goal at least.", Clarke said with a smile of her own.
"So when do we start?", Jake asked his family.
"Tomorrow, right now I'd like to spend some time with my parents.", Clarke said to her parents with a smile on her face.
"First thing tomorrow morning we'll talk to Jaha.", Jake said as he hugged his daughter again.
