Jay had absolutely no intentions of going into the district today, but apparently whatever Hank needed him for was urgent and it couldn't wait. He had every intention of spending the entire day with his favorite niece, "I'm your only niece, Uncle Jay." Zoey had told him, an exasperated look on her face. She got that from her Aunt. Jay had just laughed and then apologized, promising that this trip to the precinct wouldn't take very long and that soon enough they'd be on their way to her favorite restaurant.

Nicole was out of town for work, so Zoey was staying with her favorite(and only) aunt and uncle while her mom was away. Kim also had a doctor's appointment about an hour outside of the city, so Jay decided that they could make it an uncle and niece day.

When they pulled into the parking lot of the 21st District, Jay looked over to Zoey in the passenger seat.

"You remember what Kim and I told you?"

Zoey nodded her head softly, "I can answer any questions that are about me, but nothing about you."

"Nobody knows about your aunt and I's relationship," Jay said with a soft smile.

With another nod, the pair got out of Jay's truck and headed inside. Zoey held onto his hand anxiously, another thing that she somehow inherited from her aunt. When Trudy spotted them from behind her desk, she smiled a smile that was reserved for the young girl. Okay, so maybe one person knew.

Trudy was another mom to Kim, they had to clue her in.

"Hey, you two. I'm surprised you didn't go with Kim to her doctor's appointment." Trudy said, a hint of confusion in her voice.

"We were going to, but we didn't want to make Zoey sit in a car for that long, and Kim insisted that it's just a check-up to make sure that they're growing how they should," Jay said the last part so that only Platt and Zoey could hear him.

"We're having an uncle and niece day!" Zoey explained excitedly.

"As soon as I sign some papers for Voight," Jay added, and Trudy nodded in understanding.

They talked for a few more moments before Jay led Zoey up the stairs and to Intelligence. There were four pairs of eyes on them when they reached the top of the staircase.

"Jay, why is Burgess' niece with you?" Adam asked, a concerned look on his face.

"Nicole's out of town on a business trip and Kim has a doctor's appointment," Jay said, leading Zoey over to his desk.

Jay gave her a look and Zoey moved her fingers across her mouth in a zipper motion. Jay nodded softly before heading to Voight's office.

Zoey looked around nervously as she waited for her uncle to come back. It's not like this was the first time she'd ever been around her aunt and uncle's coworkers, but it was the first time that she was with them by herself. Zoey was very nervous that she was going to accidentally slip up and reveal Kim and Jay's relationship, or even worse; their baby.

"So, are you excited to be starting high school this fall?" Hailey's soft voice broke Zoey out of her trance.

"I guess so." Zoey shrugged softly, she hadn't put much thought into it yet. There were still two months before school started up again, and she'd rather focus on the rest of her summer.

"Aren't you old enough to stay by yourself for a few hours? Why is Jay watching you?" Adam asked, and Zoey couldn't tell if it was a genuine question or if he was being a jerk, she answered him anyway.

"My mom doesn't like for me to be alone for longer than necessary and Jay had the day off today, so Aunt Kim asked if he would hang out with me while she went to her doctor's appointment," Zoey explained slowly, she was careful about her words. She saw the look that Kevin gave Adam.

Zoey wasn't dumb, she knew he was silently telling the other man that he was dumb for saying anything. She knew what happened to her mom, it's exactly why she wasn't allowed to be alone for long periods, and she didn't mind. It gave her mom peace of mind and that's what mattered to her.

"I didn't know that Kim and Jay were close like that," Hailey said, her eyebrows knitting together in deep thought.

Zoey had to bite her lip to stop herself from laughing. She knew that her aunt and uncle did a good job at hiding the entirety of their relationship, but she didn't realize that they had done this good of a job. Zoey looked back over at Adam and Kevin, they looked just as deep in thought about this as Hailey did.

Thankfully, Zoey didn't have to worry about slipping up anymore because Jay was done in Voight's office. She let out an almost silent sigh of relief when her uncle came up to her.

"You ready to go, Zoe? Your aunt texted she should be on her way back soon." The way Jay phrased it made her smile amusedly.

"I'm ready to go. Did she say how her appointment went?" Zoey asked as she stood up from her uncle's desk.

"No, but she did say you could call and talk to her if you'd like. I need to grab some stuff from my locker, why don't you call her while I do that?" Jay suggested, and while Zoey was eager to get out of the police precinct and back to their uncle and niece day, she wanted to hear about her aunt's doctor's appointment, so she sat back down at the desk and took her phone out of her pocket.

Zoey could feel the stares of her aunt and uncle's colleagues, but she ignored them as she dialed her aunt's number.

"Hi, Aunt Kim. Yeah, I'm having fun with Jay." Zoey smiled softly at her aunt's immediate need to make sure she was doing okay.

Zoey listened intently as her aunt told her about her doctor's appointment, about her little cousin that was growing inside of her aunt's stomach.

"Yes, we're still at the district. Jay said he needed to get something out of his locker and told me I should call you while I waited." Zoey explained when her aunt questioned why she could hear Adam's voice in the background of the call. Zoey ignored the looks that her aunt and uncle's teammates were giving her as she finished her phone call. When she did finally hang up with her aunt, after about a thousand "I love you's", she looked around at the three people staring at her.

"I'm supposed to tell you guys that we're going out for dinner tonight and you all have to come. No ifs, ands, or buts about it." Zoey said, quoting her aunt directly.

"I have plans tonight." Adam protested, obviously not happy about having to cancel them.

"Well, now you have different plans. This is important, Kim wants to hang out with all of us together, at the same time." Hailey pointed out, and Kevin nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, I don't know that she's ever purposefully done that on her own accord." Kevin chimed in.

"I can't possibly imagine why." Zoey thought to herself, she'd only been around them for maybe half an hour and she was already incredibly overwhelmed. She didn't want to think about having to spend most of her time with them.

After what seemed like forever, but was probably actually only five minutes, Jay came back from the locker room.

"Okay, we can go now." He said, smiling softly at his niece who was losing patience with the situation.

"What about Jay? Is he being forced to go to this team dinner?" Adam questioned, and Zoey groaned inwardly.

"What team dinner?" Jay asked, playing dumb. Zoey bit back a smile.

"Kim's making us all go out for dinner tonight," Hailey explained while simultaneously shooting Adam a look.

"Ah. Well if it's a team thing, then yeah, I'll be there." Zoey had to hand it to her uncle, he was good at acting.

Zoey stood up from her uncle's desk, waving to the remaining members of Intelligence. She happily followed her uncle down the stairs and out of the police station.

"You guys are going to tell them tonight?" Zoey asked, looking over at her uncle once they were in his truck and buckled in.

"Yeah, it's getting harder for your aunt to hide her bump and we don't want any rumors to start, so we figured we'd just get it all out of the way at once," Jay answered and Zoey nodded.

"So... lunch?" Zoey asked after a minute of silence, her uncle laughed softly.

"Lunch."
