A/N: My favorite Spy comedy is Chuck. It is such a great show I have re-watched it three times. And I started to see the similarities between Regina and Sarah and Emma as Chuck and I just had to write this romance spy comedy SW style so I hope you like what I have done. The words are very similar to the show, cause I want you to love them as much as I do. I hope to be back periodically writing for y'all. Depression has been real. so I have to get myself out of the funk. I hope to hear from you. Your reviews help so much. Thanks! S.K.
The intersect
"Ruby, this is a bad idea," Emma said sitting under her window as her best friend led her escape out of her bedroom window.
"Well, we can't stay here, Emma." The brunette said one foot out of the window.
"I'm uncomfortable with the plan." She said looking toward her bedroom door and then back at the window.
"Plan?" Ruby asked, hanging her lower half out of the window. "What plan? This is survival." There were some footsteps in the hallway and she dropped lower, clinging to a bedsheet she'd tied to the window sill. "That's her. We've been compromised. I'm a ghost."
"Ruby, you can't leave me like this." Emma whisper yelled. "You can't do this to me, man."
Caught, the door to her bedroom was flung open, and the lights turned on.
The two looked toward the door at the angry blonde standing there glowering at her sister and her best friend.
"Emma, what are you doing?" Kathryn asked, leaning in the door frame.
"Uh, escaping."
"From your own birthday party?"
Ruby, hanging out of the window, smiles at the angry woman. "Hey, Kath.
Wow, you look fan... tastic."
Kathryn rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to her sister, Who is crouching by the window inside clutching a flashlight.
"Uh, you know, Kath, the thing is, Ruby and I don't really feel like we're fitting in... at my birthday party,". She explained. "Because we don't know anybody, 'cause they're all your friends and they all happen to be doctors."
"Doctors who don't really get our jokes," Ruby added.
"Well, your jokes." The younger blonde mumbled.
"Okay, my jokes."
"Ems, I have invited real, live individuals for you." The older sister stated she was in matchmaking mode. "So please... let's go." She turned to the idiot hanging outside the window. "Ruby, you stay here." Then the angry blonde turned and left the room.
Emma sighed and stood from her hiding space. She turned to her friend at the window. "Need a hand, Rubes?"
Ruby stood up. Emma and Kathryn lived in a first-floor garden-style apartment in Echo Park in the heart of Los Angeles. "No, no, no, I'm okay, I'm alright."
"I guess I better get out there," the young blonde said, she walked over to the mirror and primped to make sure she looked like a person that actually graduated from Stanford, instead of the dropout she was. She was 27 and a complete loser. And now her sister had resorted to playing matchmaker because she was socially inept.
The courtyard was buzzing with beautiful doctors, who milled around the fountain. Beautiful Boys and girls that Emma couldn't dream of talking to and not looking like a total idiot. She even wondered how she could keep Neil or even Lilly entertained when she had them.
Big sister Kathryn was the mastermind, as she was a Doctor at Good Samaritan Hospital. She invited all of her colleagues. "Birthday girl, come with me. We're going to be social." The older sister looped her arm with the younger and walked her through the party giving her a pep talk. "You are funny, you are smart, you are beautiful."
"Thank you," Emma said, rolling her eyes. She spotted Kath's boyfriend Frederick approaching them. He was also a doctor and super handsome and just… Ugh. "Oh, there's Captain awesome."
"Please don't call him that." She stated turning toward her boyfriend.
ER Dr. Ken approached them and wrapped an arm around Emma. "Okay, I've identified some candidates for Emma and they are awesome." He said and pulled her over to a cute girl. She had short brown hair, and she wore a dress that looked like it was sprayed on. Emma's eyes lingered a little on her form. She could deal with that. "Let me introduce you to Emma, Kath's sister."
"Hi, Emma. We've heard so much about you!" She looked down at the birthday girl who was still in her work attire, a khaki pair of pants and a blue shirt with an apple logo. Her lanyard; was still around her neck. "Are you in a costume?"
"No, I-I…" Emma stammered looking down at herself knowing she should have at least tried before leaving her room. "I work at the Genius Bar."
"Genius Bar? That is so cute." She said and looked around the courtyard immediately losing interest. "What do you really want to do?"
Emma sighed internally and wondered how she was going to bullshit herself out of this. "Working on my five-year plan. Just need to choose a font." She mumbled looking for a way out.
"What happened here?" The girl said looking down at Emma's bandaged fingers. "Did you hurt your hand?"
"No, no," Emma stated putting her hands in her pockets. "it's, uh, from call of duty. The controller chafes after several hours."
That girl was not impressed. She walked away after a few more polite questions, then Kathryn pulled her over to a handsome-looking man. He looked around her age. She thinks Kath called him Walsh.
Soon the two of them were alone and he smiled his charming smile. "So, Kathryn said you went to Stanford."
"Yes," Emma said with a nod. "That's technically correct."
"I graduated in '16. What was your major?" He said he was excited to have a fellow 'Tree' at the party.
"Engineering."
"Oh, my god, I knew this cool guy." Walsh turned his thoughts internal. "He was an engineer, um, He ran track and I think he was a gymnast, too."
"Daniel Colt, he was my Suite Mate."
"Oh, yes," Walsh stated looking at Emma wondering if she and Daniel had ever been a thing. "What's he doing now?"
Emma shrugged, she hated Daniel for what he'd done to her. "I think he's an accountant."
"So, do you have a boyfriend?" Walsh asked. "A girlfriend?"
"Uh, no…" Emma answered, her cheeks reddening a bit. "I did a while back at Stanford. Yeah. And her name was Lilly. We met freshman year."
Walshe's eyebrows shot up. "Oh, that was a while back."
"I remember when I met Lilly, I was... it was an economics class. I was walking across the quad and she had dropped her bag, and I was like, you know, rushing to... to go and pick it up for her, and, uh... and we kind of, like, did that whole, like, you know, kind of in a cartoon, kind of bumped heads, and…" Emma just continued to ramble on and on about the love of her life. She couldn't shut up, and Walsh's eyes glazed over. Truthfully Emma was not even aware of his presence anymore and the man had walked away without her notice. "There was a whole gang of us... Lilly and Daniel. We had so much in common then. So there I was, Daniel with Lilly, me on a train home. I guess she thought he was more exciting."
Finally, Emma looked around. She had been talking to herself. She sighed and sat at the fountain.
Meanwhile in DC, a dark-haired man breaks into CIA headquarters. Going to the third sub-basement and using the credentials he knew he would never use again he entered a white room with monitors all around.
The man pulled out a burner smartphone and plugged it into the tiny supercomputer in the middle of the room. He kneeled in front of it and placed a pair of sunglasses over his eyes. And spoke a passcode. "It's hard to say goodbye."
Then all around him, pictures began to flash as the program began to download onto the smartphone.
The security breach klaxon began to sound overhead just as the last of the data had been downloaded. Daniel was out of time.
The blonde assassin got into position as all other NSA agents surrounded CIA headquarters. She knows that if somehow Daniel escapes all others, she could catch him from atop. She watched him, rifle trained at the doors, she radioed the rest of the team. "Colt is in the vault."
Daniel continues to disconnect the files inside the vault and begins searching for the email he was supposed to send this to. In his rush, he was unable to focus, because there they were at the door. "Colt, open the door!"
"Shit," Daniel said and set up a virus to destroy the data and placed a bomb under the supercomputer.
He opened the door and ran past the agents there to retrieve him. He fought valiantly disarming most agents. He wasn't there to kill anybody, besides if they didn't get out of the sub-basement now, they would all die. So he climbed the stairwell walls to get to the second landing after he knocked the three down.
The building shook as there was an explosion in the Data vault. "The intersect computer's been compromised." He heard someone shout as he made his way to the first sub-basement and he was almost out. "Blow the door! We can't let him go! Call for backup."
Daniel smirked and climbed another flight, where he encountered six more armed guards. "Colt! Freeze!" one shouted and Daniel knocked him out. Then he flipped over the railing. "Stop right there! Colt!" another said as Daniel used his Gymnastic skills to kick out and down two more guards.
The exits were blocked, and the only way out was to go all the way to the roof, so he climbed the railings with a series of flips and layups. All the while cries of "Colt! Freeze! Stop right there! Colt! Cover right!"
He chuckled as he finally reached the door to the roof. "Colt, stop! Colt is on the roof. All units converge." A radio nearby squawked. Daniel ran. Picking up as much speed as he could and Jumped to the next roof. The agents were in hot pursuit, and Daniel knew he was done for. So he turned to the smartphone and searched for the most inconspicuous name he could find.
"I repeat, Colt is on the roof. All units converge." a nearby radio squawked and It sprung him to action and he jumped to another roof.
"Don't move." Daniel heard a feminine voice behind him and he stopped cold. Except he hit send on his message. And the data began to transfer. The name on the receiving end was Emma Swan. Then a shot rang out, and Daniel was bleeding out on the floor.
The blonde sniper comes closer to the fallen agent. Daniel looked at the phone in his hand and saw that all of the information was sent. "Too late, Blaize," Daniel said in his last breath, and as soon as he breathed it, the phone burned and became unresponsive.
The guests had started trickling out of their courtyard. The party blew. But Emma was grateful for what her sister tried to do. "Thanks for my party," Emma said her head in her hands. "Your seven-layer dip... tasted like eight."
Kathryn smirked and bumped shoulders with her sister. "Emma, can I tell you something?"
"It really was eight layers?"
"Even though we may ask, no suiter really wants to hear about an old girlfriend. It's depressing, okay?" Kathryn said placing a hand on Emma's shoulder.
"Suiter?" Emma asked.
"You know what I mean! You're bi so it is a non-binary term."
Emma chuckled. "I get it, it's just so old-fashioned."
"Stanford was five years ago. You need to move on. It's time."
"Do we really have to have this conversation again?" Emma asked.
"We've rehashed it enough," Kathryn said.
"Fine," Emma stated annoyed and stood to go to her room. "I'll get over Lilly tomorrow."
Once Emma is gone, Ruby sits next to the older blonde she had a terrible crush on. "Hey, there." The brunette said. Kathryn was aware of Ruby's crush but not wanting to lead the girl on because Kathryn was so straight this was just not a thing for her. "Seems like everybody had a really good time, huh? I know I did." Kathryn sighed since Ruby didn't seem to get the point and stood as if the younger woman hadn't been talking to her. "Super."
Ruby got up. Her unrequited love walked away to be with her ridiculously handsome boyfriend. Her gut was wrenched. So she headed to her best friend's room to salvage what was left of an awful night.
Ruby resumed the game she had been playing while she had been relegated to Emma's bedroom while the blonde sulked playing Assassin's Creed on the TV console.
"Cheer up, Ems, you talked to some cute people. You know, it's a start." the brunette said. The blonde shrugged and killed a couple of characters on the screen. "Wow blast from the past wow. Daniel remembered your birthday, dude."
Emma paused her game and looked over at the brunette who was looking at an email notification on the mac. "What?"
Ruby sat up in her chair. "The guy who got you kicked out of school, the guy who stole your girl, remember that guy?"
Emma rolled her eyes at her best friend. "Yeah, Ruby, I think I remember Daniel."
"All right, well... "
The blonde made her way to the Mac. "What, uh, what do we got here?"
"Huh, what is it?" Ruby asked as Emma opened the attachment and a black screen with just one line of text was displayed.
"Zork…" in Ruby's confused expression she pushed the girl aside to really concentrate on the riddle that Daniel had sent her. "You remember Zork. the old text-based video game?" Emma continued. Ruby shook her head. Her friend was such a freaking dork. "Well, Daniel and I programmed our own version of it back at Stanford using a TRS-80."
Ruby's eyes go wide now remembering how this beautiful dork was really a genius. "Wow, you guys were really cool," Ruby said, sarcasm dripping from her tone.
"Yeah, if I could only remember what was in my hero's satchel." At Ruby's confused expression, she explained. "The weapons that I would use to k!ll the terrible troll."
Ruby mouthed a wow and moved away from the Mac to let Emma sit. "Right. You know what, you're still really cool."
"And, uh, you're going home," Emma stated noticing the sarcasm that time.
"Is it that time?"
Emma nodded, "It's that time."
Ruby smirked. "Right."
"Pedal safe!" Emma yelled after her then turned back to her screen.
"Thank you. " Ruby said and shook her head with a smirk. If she didn't know better, that reaction from Emma seemed like the blond love hated that dude. With this email, though maybe Daniel had a thing For Emma too. She shrugged and left the apartment and towards her Granny's house.
Back in her room, Emma tried to remember the correct phrasing that she had used in the game. "attack... troll... with a nasty knife." She said as she typed into the screen.
Suddenly the screen becomes alive with pictures and Emma stood back mesmerized by the massive amounts of pictures that scrolled past her vision.
