We all need a place to feel safe, to feel sheltered, protected. For most people, it means a home. For most surgeons, it means a hospital. In the hospital, we're rarely blindsided. And there's always something to keep us busy. We always know what to do next. It's a cozy little box.

Schmitt and Tate were still making out in the ambulance, but stopped when the heard the sound of one of the poles crashing down.

"What?"

"Did you hear that?" Tate asked.

"Oh, my God. We're gonna die in here," Schmitt said. "But if this is how I die, it's okay." He and Tate continued making out again.

Webber and Jed the maintenance guy walked down the dark hospital

"I don't care if utility 100 poles are down You need to get the damn lights back on, Webber said.

"No, I don't. That's what the generators are for, he said.

Well, then, why aren't they doing it? Webber asked angerly.

"Because it takes them a little while to kick in, Jed said and then the lights came back on. See? He turned off his flashlight and put it back. That's why I'm in charge of the building.

"Smug. That's smug, Webber said. I don't care for it.

April and DeLuca also had light again in the elevator but they weren't moving

"This is weird. The power's back on, but are we moving? Do you feel like we're moving? April asked.

"I don't think so Dr. Kepner, DeLuca said. I, uh, think we're still stuck.

"We've got to get out of here, we need to get him to the OR, April said.

"Okay, DeLuca said. He looked around, he climbed up and looked at the light.

"What are you doing?

"Well, under this light fixture, there should be a trap door somewhere, DeLuca said.

What? No! You're not doing some action-hero crap where you climb up an elevator shaft, this isn't Die-hard," April said. I meant use your phone.

"Well, I don't get any signal in here, he said as he got down.

"Well, neither do I," April said.

"Then why did you ask me to get us out of here?" DeLuca asked.

The lights were back on and Storm had calmed down, Arizona noticed Detective Perkins standing outside the room.

"I'll be right back, Storm, Arizona said, she got up and left the room, she walked over to were Detective Perkins was sitting and sat down next to her.

"Is Storm okay?" Det. Perkins asked.

"Yeah," Arizona replied. "Did you find anything?"

"We got his full name. His name is Storm Douglas Hobbes, disappeared three years ago," Det. Perkins said.

"What happened?" Arizona asked.

"His mother Jane took her 6-year-old son to the fair and one minute he was gone, Det. Perkins explained. "Police searched the entire grounds and neighborhood but couldn't find him."

"I know which fair you mean I take my daughter there every year when they are here in Seattle, so I know that fair is far away from where Storm was found, Arizona said."

"So our suspicions were right, he was probably kidnapped from the fair then, Det. Perkins said. I should have recognized him, I was on the case when he disappeared, I feel stupid.

"Hey, it's okay, he now found and now you can finally tell his mother, Arizona said.

"Unfortunately that won't be possible, Det. Perkins sighed. She was killed in a car accident a year ago.

"And his father? Arizona asked.

"Storm's father died when Storm was a baby, Det. Perkins said.

"And other family members?"

"Both of his grandparents died, Both his parents were only children, So he has no uncles or aunts, He has no one left, Det." Perkins said.

Arizona stood up; "I need to discuss this with Dr. Rosen, we need to see how we are going to break this news to Storm.

"I understand Dr. Robbins," Det. Perkins said.

Jackson was with his mother and they were looking at her scans.

"So, um, your spine, then?" Jackson asked.

"Chondrosarcoma. C5 to T1. Extensive local invasion," Catherine explained.

"How long?" He asked.

"How long what?" Catherine asked her son.

"How long did you know that you have it?" Jackson asked.

"I didn't find out long ago, I was suspecting something was wrong," Catherine said.

"And what's going to happen now?" Jackson asked.

"I don't know what I'm going to do," Catherine said.

Jenna and Qadri were still in the O.R. with Cece and the lights came back on.

"Lights are back on," Jenna said.

"Her pressure is dropping," Qadri said.

"Let's start her on pressors again," Jenna said.

"My old heart is jealous of my new one. It seems to want to quit on me," Cece said.

"Well, then, we're just in time. Titrate the drip to keep her MAPs above," Jenna said. "Qadri, go to O.R. 2 and see how Dr. Bailey's doing on the procurement. I need to know how far out we are."

"Got it," Qadri said.

Qadri took off her gloves and ran to O.R.2 but saw that one was there.

"What do we do?" Helm asked. "What do we do?"

"We keep doing what we're doing," Bailey said. "You pump the bag. Get the O in the blood, keep the organs viable, and we... wait."

"But we're trapped," Helm said.

"Not trapped, delayed," Bailey said.

"We can't be! Cece's in the O.R. right now," Helm said. "We have to get these organs..."

"Helm, get your head together, Bailey told Helm.

"It's just, uh, she's been waiting for this, and she's, uh... God, I... I think I'm... I think I'm having a panic attack."

"No, no. You're not. S-Stop it," Bailey said. "Do you understand me? No one is having a panic attack."

Bailey looked at her hands, she was doing what was always doing whenever she felt stressed and she stopped, she turned to Helm who still had a panic expression on her face.

"Is anybody out there?!"

"Help!"

Jo and Amelia stood at the reception desk. "What a day."

"And the day isn't even over yet," Amelia said.

"I've experienced strong wind storms, but this is truly a new level," Jo said.

"You can say that again," Amelia said.

"Help!"

Jo and Amelia turned and saw two young man carrying another young man into the hospital, the boy's bone was sticking out of his left arm and there was blood side his head, the two doctors ran toward the boys.

"Help our dude!"

"What happened?" Amelia said.

"I'm Dean, this guy next to me is Rodney and this our dude Travis," Dean said.

"What happened to Travis?" Amelia asked.

"We were outside and...," Rodney began.

"What, do you guys know how dangerous this wind storm is? You were clearly told to stay inside," Amelia said.

"I need to get started on his arm," Jo said.

"Skull fracture, we need to get him to CT and see what the damage to his brain is, I need a stretcher over here," Amelia said.

"Can you save him?" Dean asked.

"We're gonna do everything we can," Amelia said, she and some others put Travis on the stretcher. Let's get him to CT fast!"

"Let's go!" Jo shouted.

"So Ian what's the best thing we can do?" Arizona asked.

"You need to bring it calmly, try not to show too much emotion, in his state he will more quickly realize something is wrong," Dr. Rosen said.

"You want me to break the news to him?" Arizona asked.

"Storm trusts you the most now, after all he told you his name, even if he didn't do it with words, it's quite something that he did," Dr. Rosen said.

"Okay, then I'll tell him," Arizona said.

April and DeLuca were still stick in the elevator and one of the machines of April's patient started beeping.

"He's bottomed out," April said. Uh, "I don't feel a pulse."

"Maybe it's a cardiac tamponade?" DeLuca guessed, he started giving the patient heart massage. Maybe the plate punctured his heart.

"All right, well, if it has, compressions aren't gonna help. We have got to get him into an O.R.," April said, she started banging on the doors and screaming for help.

"I don't think they can hear us Dr. Kepner," DeLuca said.

"We need to open him up," April said.

"What?"

"Worst-case scenario is the door won't open till after he's dead, so we need to open him up," April said.

"In here?" DeLuca asked.

"In here," she said. "Look around and see what we have to work with, I'll take over."

DeLuca stopped and April took over and he looked around what they could use; "Uh, two units of extra blood."

"Great, do we have a...," April said.

"Test tube tray," DeLuca said.

"Jackpot. I've got a scalpel," April said. "All right, DeLuca, can you bag him, please?

"We're really doing this? DeLuca asked.

"Yes. Come on. Trauma is the choice between doing something that could maybe kill him...," April said. "Or doing nothing which will really kill him."

"Call the fire Department and have them get those elevators open! Webber yelled at Jed

"They're not coming, Jed said.

"They're not coming?

"They're on limited operations because of the storm," Jed said. "Look, I don't know why you're yelling at me."

"Because the damn building isn't working, and you're in charge of the damn building! Do better!"

Jackson was just walking down the halls and Qadri almost ran into him; "Do you know where Dr. Bailey is?!"

"Qadri, what is going on?" Jackson asked.

"Dr. Bailey is in an elevator," Qadri said.

"You just asked me where she is," Jackson said.

"Cece Colvin's on the table for a transplant. Dr. Bailey is stuck in an elevator with the donor organs. Dr. Wyatt wants me to find them, but I don't know how I'm gonna do that," Qadri said.

"Coming through," said Jed, but Jackson stopped him. "What?"

"The elevators... I need you to open them up," Jackson told him

"I can't. The elevators are down," Jed said.

"I know that," Jackson said.

"They're computerized, okay? So they need a while to reset. They'll be back up eventually."

"We don't have till "eventually." I'm asking you how they get opened," Jackson said.

"Well, I'd call the elevator guy, but he's not coming. You know, there's a hell of a storm out there, Jed said.

"Yes, I r... Is there anything by chance that you know that I don't?" Jackson asked.

"Oh! Okay, Doctor. No, I don't know. Can you tell me how many ground fault circuit interrupters it takes to keep you from getting fried every time you reach for a defibrillator? No, you can't. You just pick it up and say, "Clear!" and somehow you're a hero. Because doctors are so cool."

Kyle walked into the supply closet and looked around, he heard something coming from behind the closet and ran towards it, Webber emerged and the two doctors were startled to see each other.

"What are you doing here?" The two doctors said at the same time.

"You first," Kyle said.

"I'm trying to avoid my wife, she's here and I'm not ready to see her after what happened to me," Webber said.

"Then what happened to you, Dr. Webber?" Kyle asked.

"I'd rather not talk about it," Webber said. "What are you doing here Dr. Nolan?"

"I'm looking for my brother, Kyle said.

"I saw your brother heading toward the clinic, maybe he's hiding there now, Webber said.

"He's not there anymore, I called the clinic and no one's there, Kyle said. And he's not answering his phone.

"I understand your concern, Webber said.

"He's grown up on paper, but he's Tate and he never really grew up and he still does stupid things, Kyle said.

"We all do stupid things sometimes, even when we're grown up," Webber said.

"Then you don't know my little brother, he doesn't do stupid things sometimes, he does stupid things most of the time," Kyle said.

"You know we could both use some distraction I think," Webber said. "Let's go help in the Pit, I think they could really use our help there."

Kyle went along with Webber's plan the two doctors left the supply room and walked in the direction the Pit. The two doctors ran into Parker.

"Parker, I need your help," Kyle said.

"What can I do for you Dr. Nolan?" Parker asked.

Kyle grabbed his phone from his pocket, he pulled out a picture of Tate and showed it to Parker; "I'm sending you this picture, could you ask everyone if they have seen my brother?"

"Sure Dr. Nolan, I'll do it for you," Parker said.

"Thank you, Parker," Kyle said. "And send me an update if you know anything."

"Will do," Parker said.

With a plate of fries, Arizona walked toward Storm's room; "Hey, Storm it's me, Dr. Robbins, Can I come in?"

Storm nodded his head, Arizona walked into the room and set the plate of fries down by Storm.

"These are for you, have a nice meal," Arizona said.

Storm hesitantly grabbed a fry and ate it carefully, Arizona grabbed a menu from her coat pocket and showed it to Storm.

"Look Storm I have a menu here with all the yummy drinks, what do you want?" Arizona asked. Storm looked at the menu and then pointed to the chocolate milk. "You want chocolate milk?" Storm nodded his head. "Then I'll give you chocolate milk. Go and enjoy your fries."

"Th... Tha... Thank you," he said softly.

Arizona was surprised to hear Storm talking, she couldn't help a small smile appearing on her face. She left the room to get drinks for Storm.

Bailey and Helm were still stuck in the elevator, with no sign of any movement.

"Don't hyperventilate," Bailey said.

"I'm not. I'm okay," Helm said.

"Don't hyperventilate the patient," Bailey said.

"Oh, sorry," Helm said. "I just, uh, think we're gonna plummet and, uh, Cece will die and Phoebe never got a chance to say goodbye to her mother, and she would have died for nothing... with a stupid selfie stick in her face... and this thing's gonna plummet and we're gonna plummet with it! They say if you jump as it hits the ground, we might be okay, but..."

"That's nonsense," Bailey said. "It's basic physics. You can't..."

"Right. First... First, we'll hit the ceiling, and then we'll smash into the floor like tomatoes. We'll just be a puddle of us," Helm said.

"Nobody's plummeting," Bailey told her.

"These things plummet all the time," Helm said.

"In movies, not in buildings," Bailey said.

"Do you know that?" Helm asked.

"There's special brakes and things," Bailey said.

"How... How do you know that?"

"I don't know that! I made it up," Bailey said. "Because if our brains are determined to scare us to death with made-up scenarios where everyone we care about dies and we are turned into tomato sauce, then why can't they also make us feel good about made-up good things? Like, uh, hydraulic air brakes. And stop inflating that woman!"

"What if we, uh... we all breathe together?" Helm suggested. "Okay? Should, uh... Should we do that?" Both she and Bailey started doing that. "In. And out. In. And out. Nice."

April and DeLuca were working on the patient; "Decompressing the pericardium, April said. This is a clamshell."

"Yes, it is a total clammed... Is that like a cluster...?"

"I can't see where the bleeding is coming from," April said. "Yeah, the incision... we do a clamshell incision. We need more visibility."

"Right. Yes. I knew that," DeLuca lied.

"It basically means we, uh, pop his chest like the hood of a car," April said. "All right, DeLuca, uh, grab the scalpel... we'll do the right thoracotomy."

"Yep."

"We're gonna need to find something to crack that sternum," April said.

While Amelia was in the CT with Travis, Jo went over to Travis' two friends, but she noticed something strange about them they were laughing.

"Hey they beautiful doctor is here," Dean said.

"Not so loud dude, she can hear you," Rodney said.

"Oh shit," Dean laughed.

"What's the matter with you two? Your friend is hurt and...," Jo began, the boys were still chuckling. "Are you high or something?"

"Maybe a little," Rodney said.

"How?

Dean pulled out a bag of brownies; "We ate one of these," he said. Jo grabbed the bag from Dean. "Hey!"

"Weed brownies," Jo said as she looked in the bag. "Did you guys eat these brownies when you were outside too?"

"Yep," Rodney said.

"That explains a lot," Jo said.

"Dude, we got a hundred hits already," Dean said, showing his phone to his friends.

"Cool."

"What are you guys talking about?" Jo asked.

"The video of Travis doing that stunt in the storm," Dean said, giving his phone to Jo.

"You guys put it online?" She asked.

"Yep."

Jo forwarded the video to himself, said the phone back to the boy and walked away. Hey, our brownies! Jo threw away the brownies and walked on to the CT.

"The three boys ate weed brownies."

"Well that explained their idiotic action," Amelia said.

Jo grabbed her phone and held out the video and put the phone to Amelia; "They filmed everything."

"The helmet breaks, that explains those pieces we found here," Amelia said pointing to the screen. We need to get those pieces out as soon as possible and this piece is most dangerous pressure almost against his cerebellum.

"And his spine is also badly damaged, but you can fix that, right?" Jo asked, Amelia didn't answers Jo's question.

"We need to get started as soon as possible now," Amelia said.

Arizona stood at one of the vending machines to get a drink for Storm, Diego approached her.

"Everything all right Dr. Robbins?" He asked.

"Yes, I'm getting a drink for my patient", Arizona said, she pressed the buttons and a chocolate milk came out of the machine.

"I heard you know his name now," Diego said

"His name is Storm," Arizona told Diego. "And he said something."

"Oh yeah? What did he say?" Diego asked.

"He said thank you very softly," Arizona said.

"But this is a good step forward, isn't it?" Diego asked.

"I'm afraid everything will go wrong for him again," Arizona said.

"What's going on, Doctor?" Diego asked.

"Detective Perkins told me that Storm's mother is no longer alive, and since Dr. Rosen says Storm trusts me, I should go break the news to him," Arizona said.

"And what about his father?" Diego asked.

"He died when Storm was just a baby, and there is no other family to take care of him," Arizona said.

"What's gonna happen to him?" Diego asked.

"I don't want to think about that right now, the most important thing is that he is going to need to recover," Arizona said.

"If anything can do for you now?" Diego asked.

"Help the other doctors at the Pit, they could really use your help right now," Arizona said.

"Okay, Dr. Robbins," Diego said.

Alex walked into the ambulance were Schmitt and Tate were, he looked at them and they were putting their shirts back on.

"I just came in here to get out of the wind," Alex said.

"Same."

"Well, I should get back in there, Alex said as he got out of the ambulance. And you should get back in there, too, Dr. Schmitt! Now!"

"Yes, sir," Schmitt said.

"Done," DeLuca said.

"All right," April said.

"How are we gonna crack the sternum?" DeLuca asked.

"I got that. We're gonna lose that heart monitor," April said.

"Why?"

"To crack the sternum, I usually use a Lebsche Knife and hit it with a mallet," April said. "But we don't have either, and that battery is heavy enough to use as a mallet."

"And the Lebsche Knife?" He asked.

"I'm gonna need you to put pressure right there when I pull this out," April said.

"You're gonna use the license plate?" DeLuca asked.

"Okay, Ready." April asked, DeLuca nodded his head. "1,2,3!" DeLuca put pressure on the chest and April pulled the license plate out, she walked over to the side and started bending the plate. When she was done she walked back with the plate and put it close to the wound. "Ready to go?"

"Yeah," DeLuca said.

April started the hit the plate and she got the chest to crack open; "Get it," she said and she started to look at the heart. "Okay. All right, the left heart looks good."

Kyle was in the pit working on a patient, doing a checkup, and when he was done, he walked away and checked his phone.

"Still no word?" Webber asked approaching Kyle.

"No, I still looked around here to see if he's here, but I don't see him," Kyle said.

"He must be somewhere sheltering from the storm," Webber said.

"I hope so," Kyle said.

"I'll keep my eyes open too, Webber said. Your brother will be fine, Dr. Nolan.

Kyle thanked Webber and went back to helping the other doctors, he still looked at his phone; Come on Tate, where are you?"

Arizona was back in Storm's room and handed him his chocolate milk; Here you go, Arizona said. Storm took the chocolate milk and started drinking it. Is it good chocolate milk?

"Y...Yes," Storm said.

"Storm I need to tell you something," Arizona said, she grabbed Storm's his hand. I don't have such great news, but I want you to know I'm for you and..." Arizona looked at Storm who looked at her with questioning eyes. "Storm I am very sorry but your mother...your mother is no longer alive."

Tears began to roll down Storm's cheeks, confused and sad he looked around, Arizona sat down with him and tried to comfort him

Jackson and Qadri were walking down the hospital and walked to one of the elevators.

"Hello? Hello? Hello? Anybody there? "Jackson asked.

"You good?" Link asked, as he walked by.

"Shh. Hello? Hey! Hello!" Jackson asked, he then heard people screaming for help.

"Great! They're in here!" Qadri said.

"There are transplant organs trapped in this elevator. Give us a hand. Let's get this open," Jackson said.

Link walked over to Jackson and Qadri, the three doctor placed their hands on the elevator door and tried to push it open, at the same time Jed walked by.

"Whoa, hey, hey! What do you guys think you're doing?"

"Trying to get this open," Link said as he walked over to him.

"No, no, no. You can't access a stalled elevator car. Someone can get killed," Jed said.

"If we don't, someone will get killed," Qadri said.

"How the hell do we open this thing?" Jackson asked.

Link grabbed one of the medical iv poles; "Look out."

"Don't do that," Jed said, but Link didn't listen and tried to do it any way. No. No, no, no, no! Aw, come on! Can you see that? You guys just do whatever you want. You got no respect for the facility.

"Hey, listen to me, all right? You want to be a hero? You want to save lives? There's a woman whose life depends on you getting that door open for us right now. I can't do that. I'm useless here," Jackson said. "You're gonna help me do it. We're gonna get Cece her organs, or you're gonna wake up tomorrow without a job."

"Whoa, hold on a second. Cece the... the matchmaker lady, Cece?" He asked.

"Yes."

"Oh, she... I... I was in her room for just like 15 minutes once fixing her TV, and she sized me up and introduced me to a nurse down in critical care. We've been together ever since. She changed my life, that lady. She, uh, put, uh, joy in my life," Jed said. "Pardon me. May I borrow this?" He took the pole from Link and started to try to get the elevator open.

"That guy has joy in his life?" Link asked. "Or maybe her name is Joy?"

"It's not coming," Jed said.

"Watch out," Jackson said, he grabbed the bottom of the pole standard, he ran up to the elevator and started smashing it and he managed to get the doors open.

"It's like "Lord of the friggin' Flies" in here," Alex said, as he walked over the doctors. "What happened?"

"Bailey's in there with donor organs," Qari explained.

"They're for Cece," Jed said.

The 5 of them worked together and manged to chimey the other door open and found a relieved Bailey.

"This is the last unit of blood, Dr. Kepner, DeLuca said.

"We need to get out here," April said.

"How long do you think he will last?" DeLuca asked.

"With the last unit, I say about 5 minutes," April said. "I'm praying for a miracle right now."

"Me too," DeLuca said.

And just like that the doors opened. "Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!" April said, she and DeLuca were getting the patient out of the elevator. "Watch out. All right, great. Coming through!"

The doctors had managed to get Phoebe and Bailey out of the elevators.

"All right, you're next," Link said to Helm.

"Uh... What if, when I'm halfway through, it plummets and chops me in half?"

"Helm! Come get this patient and her life-giving organs to the O.R," Bailey said.

"Yes, ma'am, Helm said, she walked over to Link, he gave her a boost and she was out of the elevator.

"All right. Let's get her to O.R. 2," Bailey said. "Uh, we need some help with the stairs."

"Yeah, we got it," Alex said.

Link climbed out of the elevator easily, but when the maintenance guy tried he got stuck

"Oh, hey," Jackson said, he and Link walked to Jed and tried the help him out. "Ooh. We got you."

"No, I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. Go help Cece. Go!" He said.

Jackson, Alex and Link started to walk away, the guy tried to climbed out. He was half way out when the elevator doors closed and the elevator went down. Jackson and Link saw this happening and ran over to the guy and tried to help him.

"Hit the button! hit it! Jackson yelled to Link.

"Come on! Link yelled.

The elevator came back up and Jackson and Alex got Jed out. Is it bad? Are they gone?

"We got you, Jed, Jackson said. We got you, buddy. Okay?

"Let's start her on some norepi," Jenna said.

"It's getting cold in here, Cece said. Shouldn't we be getting started?"

"Not much longer, okay?" Jenna said, she took a blanket and put it over Cece.

"Jenna, this is not normal. I have received organs before. And this is not a normal amount of time to wait in an O.R. There's a problem. And I'm frightened…." Cece began, suddenly her eyes began to close and she started coding.

Cece, no! No! Crash cart! And tube her. Now!" Jenna said.

Bailey and Helm were in O.R.2 getting the organs out of Phoebe and getting them ready for Cece.

"I had panic attacks as a kid. Before dance recitals. And... And spelling bees, Helm said. But, also, I-I really thought that elevator was gonna plummet.

"I need you to stop! Baily yelled.

Alex walked into the OR; "Good. You're here."

"What is it, Karev?" Bailey asked.

"We need to get the maintenance guy down to the O.R," Alex said.

"The maintenance guy, why?" Bailey asked.

"Elevator nearly took his legs off," Alex said.

"I knew it!" Helm said.

"No," Bailey said. "Uh, I'll go find an O.R. for him. You come do this for me."

"You want me to do an organ recovery?" Alex asked.

"You can perform an organ recovery, can you not?"

"Yeah, but you're already doing it. I need to get to the E.R.," Alex said.

"I need... I need to do that. Look, I'll look after the hospital, Dr. Karev. Go scrub and get in here," Bailey said. Alex walked out of the O.R. and was getting ready.

April and DeLuca were in one of the other O.R's busy working on their patient

"Okay, and we're good," April said. "Flow is good."

"Let's isolate," DeLuca said.

"I've isolated the injury, April said. I need a 4-0 prolene, please. Uh, do you think we should do a graft or...?"

Amelia and Jo were in the O.R. working on Travis.

"Okay, I'm almost done here, I need to put the splints on," Jo said.

"How long before his arm heals properly?" Amelia asked.

"6 weeks then the cast may come off and then I have to start looking further," Jo said. "How are you doing there?"

"This is going to take longer than I thought, I have to be very careful not to hit his brain, Amelia said. "Damn it!"

"What is it?" Jo asked.

"One of the pieces of the helmet is in cerebellum now," Amelia said.

"Can you remove it?" Jo asked.

"It is risky, but I can remove it, I will need absolute silence," Amelia said. everyone in the O.R. became silent, Amelia took a deep breath, she grabbed the tweezers and went to the cerebellum, she grabbed the piece of the helmet and pulled it out very carefully. "And it's done."

"Well done Dr. Shepherd," Jo said.

Amelia continued examining the brain; "Okay, no further concern looking damage, Travis won't get any permanent brain damage."

"Then you can get started on his spine, Jo said. Again, Amelia said nothing. "Dr. Shepherd, why do you get avoiding my question?"

"Nothing more I can do for him there, got too much damage to repair his spine," Amelia said.

"You mean..?"

"He'll be paralyzed from the waist below for the rest of his life," Amelia said.

"You really can't try to fix it?" Jo asked.

"If I try, it's more likely I can do more damage," Amelia said.

Jenna had asked one of the nurse to page Meredith to the O.R. and she in.

"How's she doing?" Meredith asked.

"Not good. We've shocked her twice, but we can't put her on bypass until we have organs."

"Bailey's already started," Meredith said.

"Scalpel," Jenna said. The nurse handed her a scalpel and Jenna started to make a cut.

Jackson and Link were in an O.R. working on Jed the maintenance guy's leg. And Schmitt walked into the O.R.

"I'm here," he said.

"We're were you?" Link asked.

"I had to take shelter because of the wind," Schmitt said.

"There's extensive tissue damage, but the nerves here look salvageable," Jackson said.

"Yeah, this left femur is looking gnarly. But the right... The right looks like maybe an ex-fix," Link said. "Yeah, we'll definitely take the left. Jury's out on the right."

"What if we don't take either?" Jackson asked.

"Dude, this leg is a no-go. It's crushed musculature, open comminuted femur fracture, a hashed neurovascular bundle. We should amputate...," Link said.

"Dude, place some rods," Jackson said.

"What?"

"Or a plate or an ex-fix. I mean, fix the legs. Okay, yeah, the nerves are crushed, but they're still intact, right? I could do an arterial anastomosis. I can get some blood flow in there," Jackson said.

"He'll have a better outcome with a prosthesis," Link said.

"Please tell me you know that. I know that he's here because of a patient. I know that he did everything he could so that she could survive. I want to save his leg. I can do that," Jackson said.

"Well, maybe you can, but that doesn't mean that you should. Even if you save the blood supply, if he doesn't regain function...," Link began.

"Doctor, if you're not gonna fix his femurs, then maybe you're not the Ortho got you say you are. So proof that you're the Ortho god," Jackson said.

"All right. It's metal shop. I want plates. I want the modular rod tray open," Link said.

"Schmitt, give me some suction here. And some large Weber clamps, a large lobster claw... I need curved micro scissors and, uh, jeweler's forceps, please."

"Is it weird to say that I wanted to get the license plate," DeLuca said.

"No," April said.

"So where did you learn to do that?" DeLuca.

"When I was overseas with Dr. Hunt, you need to think quick with even less instruments you have over there," April said.

"You miss him, Dr. Hunt?" DeLuca asked.

"He is my mentor, my friend of course I miss him, April said. So I hope he comes back soon.

"Well I think you're doing a great job as Head of Trauma," DeLuca told April.

"Her rhythm is deteriorating. She's bradying down. Push a mg of epi," Jenna said. "Helm, what is her lactic acid and base deficit?"

"Minus 12, and her lactate is 6," Helm said.

"What is it?"

"It could be metabolite washout...it could be anything. Yeah," Jenna said. "Let's go back on bypass. I'm gonna massage her heart. Let's give her a kickstart. Let's put her on an epicardial pacemaker."

"But you women are doctors, can't you fix him?" Rodney asked.

"There was nothing more we could do for him," Amelia said.

"And you know what? This never would have happened if you hadn't gotten stoned and gone out there to do that stupid stunt," Jo said.

"But Travis did the stunt," Dean said.

"But you guys didn't do anything to stop him," Jo said. "I saw the video, I know you guys were cheering him on, so this is just as much your fault."

The two boys looked into Travis' room with a guilty look on their faces.

"What can we do for him?" Rodney asked.

"Be there for him, he is going through a difficult time," Jo said.

"And he's gonna need your support. His whole life has changed," Amelia said.

Schmitt saw Alex standing outside of the room, he gestured for Schmitt to come to him.

"That can't happen. What happened today cannot happen," Alex said.

"I understand. I'm so sorry," Schmitt said.

"On-call rooms, storage closets, that weird, little radiology room on. Those rooms have locks. Understand?"
