EPOV.

When I rise, I feel in the bond for Sookie since she is not next to me. I feel that she is well and not far away. I listen and hear her talking to Adele and Sonya. That is good because I had a feeling I was going to rise this night and have to save Sookie from whatever trouble she got herself into. Thankfully, that is not the case. I hear her exiting the conversation and walking towards our door.

"Oh cheese and rice, you're up. I wanted to be in here when you woke."

"What kept you?"

"I was just talking to Gran, she had a lot of questions after I came home today. Plus we were overdue for a talk about what she told me about my fairyness."

"Yes, we still have not spoke about that. You must tell me but first, what did you find out today? Did everything go according to plan?"

She sighs, in the bond I feel disappointment and failure. I guess she hasn't got the information we need. It is fine we will use other methods to find Godric. "No, I didn't even go. You were right to be wary of Hugo. After I read your note this morning I made an excuse to enter the house instead of just driving straight to the church so I could listen to him for a little bit. Well, it didn't take me long to hear that he was up to something and when he started thinking I was suspicious of him, I heard him think about taking me forcefully. I didn't really hear all their plans but I'm positive he's the traitor, I just don't know if Isabel is involved or not."

I do not think that Isabel would be involved but maybe I'm wrong. "What exactly did you hear?"

"Okay, first I heard him get annoyed that I had to use the bathroom and was thirsty, he thought 'They're expecting us'. I knew it couldn't be you and Isabel because even if we were at the Fellowship for 5 hours we would have still made it back before you guys rose. Then I thought maybe he made an appointment without me knowing but when I asked, he said there was no appointment. So I kept listening and when I went to the bathroom he was thinking about how I seemed suspicious and he'd take me by force if necessary. He was also thinking about Isabel and how much he loved her but she refused to give him blood or turn him so he felt like she didn't feel the same way and that she was just using him. I don't know, it's nothing concrete, I didn't hear him talk about the Reverand or anything but when he was thinking about taking me by force I knew I had to get out of there."

My blood starts to boil at the anger I'm feeling towards that human who wanted to hurt my Sookie, I will have my revenge on him. He might be the pet of another vampire but his life was forfeit the second he tried to hurt my lover. Isabel can bitch all she wants, he will die at my hands. No need to worry Sookie about that right now though, I'm sure she won't want any harm to come to the human. So, I'll keep it away from her but that doesn't change the fact that his life officially has a timer on it.

I take a few seconds to calm myself then I open up my arms to her and she crawls up onto the bed and into my arms. "Yes, you did good, dear one. I must call Isabel to warn her. It does not sound as if she has anything to do with it. Then we must come up with a new plan to get my maker."

"I might have already come up with something."

"Do tell."

"Well, what if tonight, me and you go to the Fellowship? You can fly us over the church and I can listen and see what I hear. It might take a while before someone thinks about it but if he's there, we'll find him."

"Yes, that should work." I kiss the top of her head then reach for my phone and dial Isabel. She answers almost immediately.

"Eric, what the fuck?"

"What seems to be the problem, Isabel?"

"Your pet! Are you glamouring her too much? Or is she just an idiot? Hugo told me she was speaking gibberish and then just ran away. If she was not prepared for the task that was given to her, she should have said something."

"Your pet lies to you, Isabel. My Sookie left after she heard that Hugo was planning on forcibly taking her to the church. He's your traitor."

"She's lying, my Hugo would never."

"You've met Sookie, does she seem the type to spout off gibberish? She ran for her life because she was scared. He must have been the one to tell the Fellowship where we were going to be so they could attempt the kidnapping."

"It makes no sense, we've already decided that the Fellowship couldn't take Godric on their own, how would Hugo be any help in detaining him?"

"That, I do not know but I will be sure to find out. Glamour your pet to tell you the truth. I do not have time for this. You're lucky that Sookie is safe, I would have held you responsible for not being able to control your pet, should anything have happened to her."

"I will do this, Eric but you must do the same. She could be lying just as easily as he could."

"Fine, I will. Call me when you have your confession. Sookie and I are going to find Godric."

"What do y…." I hang up on her. She has gone down a lot in my estimation because of this situation. How she so easily trusts all this important information with her pet, I'll never know. And now it's blown up in her face. I never keep pets unless it's for necessity and I sure as fuck don't let them have sensitive information about me or the vampires around me. I've seen it happen time and time again and the only being to blame is the vampire who's idiotic enough to trust their food so much.

Sookie is a different story, she's more than a pet. She's bound to learn information, it's the main purpose of her job as a telepath. But more than that, she'll be my bonded, there should be nothing between a bonded pair. Speaking of which, as soon as my maker is safe that is the first thing I'm going to do.

Once Godric is found, I should probably also focus on figuring out what's wrong with Pamela, I've learned my lesson with her temper tantrums before. The longer I leave it alone the more time she has to work herself up and then I end up getting bitched at for days on end and losing a big chunk of change to make her feel better. Most of the time, I'm not even in the wrong. She's just spoiled, which I can admit to myself is my fault. I put that thought away for later and focus on Godric now.

"Okay Sookie, let us get ready to go. I think your plan holds merit."

"Eric, we can't go yet, it's still daylight outside. It's why I wasn't with you when you rose, I thought you'd be down longer."

I listen to my internal clock and realize with a shock she's right. I normally wake up about an hour before sunset due to my age but it's about an hour and a half before sunset and I've already been awake for almost an hour. So I rose more than two and a half hours before the sunset. This makes no sense. Unless… I fed from Sookie last night as a always do while we fuck, could it be her blood? I know a full fairy's blood can keep a vampire up all day but she has to be less than a fourth fairy. This will take some more looking into. Actually, since we have time…

"Lover, you said Adele had things to tell you about your heritage?"

"Oh yeah, well it's kinda a crazy story. Apparently, my grandfather had measles when he was a kid and a side effect made it so he couldn't have kids. Gran and he really wanted to have kids and one day this man came to Gran. They became friends but the guy fell in love with her. Gran, Fintan, and my grandpa all made a deal that Fintan would father her kids. Well turns out he was a fairy. I don't know if he was a full fairy or not but once the kids were born he checked on them to make sure they didn't exhibit any fairy traits. He gave Gran his number in case they ever did but he eventually stopped coming. Gran had eventually fallen in love with him too and she thinks something must have happened to him because he didn't seem the type to just give up on his offspring."

After Sookie utters the name Fintan I freeze and only listen to her story with half an ear. She's related to Nial? That means she's royalty. Fuck, that means she's in danger from more than just vampire royalty she's in danger from the water fae's royalty too. How do I tell her I know why he hasn't come back? I need to find Godric more than ever, yes I've met Niall a few times but Godric and Niall have known each other for centuries and have been lovers on and off that whole time. Though Godric has never spoken about it to me, I can tell he feels for Niall deeply.

"Eric? What's wrong? I can feel that you're thinking about a lot and that you're worried."

I have the urge to sigh again, and for an irrational second am mad at Sookie for bringing out all these human emotions and manerisms in me. I quickly get past it though. "I know of who you speak. His name was Fintan Bridgant."

"Was? So he is dead?"

"Yes, he died about 35 years ago in the war against the water fae."

"Water fae? Are there different types of fairies? Was he a soldier and he died in a battle?"

"Yes, there are water, sky, and earth fae. There used to be fire fae but they're now what you know as demons. You are of the sky fae as was Fintan and Niall."

"Niall? Was he related to Fintan?"

"Yes, Niall is still alive and he was Fintan's father. I've known him since the last fairy war about 700 years ago."

Her eyes grow impossibly wide. "My great-grandfather is 700 years old?"

"Your great-grandfather is far older than I, I think he's around Godric's age though I do not know for sure. Godric is much closer to him than I am. But no, Sookie, your grandfather did not die as a soldier, he was taken as a prisoner and killed because he was important to the king."

"King? King of the sky fairies?" I nod, "Why was he important to the king?"

"Because he was the king's son." I skim my finger over her tan skin. "Your love for sunbathing makes much sense now, the sky fae thrives on the sun, that's where they get their power."

"So are you trying to tell me I'm some kind of fucking fairy princess?" She says in the most incredulous tone I've ever heard her use. The cursing coming from her throws me off a little bit.

I chuckle. "Yes, dear one, that is exactly what I'm saying."

"Are you sure it can't be some other Fintan that was with Gran?"

"No, now that I think about it, your brother looks exactly like a younger Niall."

Sookie stays quiet for a long time thinking things over. "Do you think you can introduce us?"

"Perhaps. But again, Godric is the one that is close to him. We must work on finding him first."

"Okay, thanks, Eric. Do you think I should tell Gran?"

"Do you think it will hurt or help her? Is it not better to know than to guess if he's ever coming back?"

"Yeah, I guess you're right. I should tell her about Niall too." Sookie says but she sounds sad about possibly hurting Adele. I understand where she's coming from, I do not want to cause Adele pain either.

I nod at her in agreement then feel for my internal clock again. There is still much time before we can leave. I can think of much more pleasurable ways to spend our time waiting. I hold my hand out to her. "Come, lover. Join me for a shower"

That becoming blush that I've grown to love comes over her but she nods her head and puts her hand in mine. I spend the next hour showing Sookie the pleasures that can come from sharing a shower with your lover.

By the time we are out and dressed it is finally time to go. Which is good because even after slaking my lust with Sookie, I am on edge. It is past time that I need to find my maker. He is always there when I need him and now it's my turn to be here for him. I cannot imagine what terrible things those bigots could get up to if they had a vampire at their questionable mercy.

I leave Bubba with Adele again but make sure he has access to his phone in case I have need of him. With a quick goodbye, we are out the door and on the way to the church. Obviously, I do not trust Isabel with my travel again, so I quickly rent a car. We park about a mile away off the road where I'm sure it won't be seen. Quickly I scoop Sookie up bridal style and go up into the air.

I circle around the complex a few times to make sure there aren't any hiding spots where people are watching or any safety hazards. I might be being over-cautious but I have learned in my long life it's always better to be overly cautious than to find yourself in a situation you did not foresee. The Fellowship of the Sun might not seem like the type to have people watching their property with weapons to keep out intruders but I see 10 people doing just that. Unsurprisingly, their weapons are tailor-made for vampires. When I finally find a blind spot, I use it to fly over the building and land quietly

I wait patiently for Sookie to listen. There's a surprising amount of people here, the parking lot is full. It seems they're having a night sermon, which seems counterproductive for people who are terrified of getting hurt by vampires. I have a bad feeling about this, they're up to something. Just as that thought crosses my mind, I feel fear and urgency in our bond while Sookie gasps.

"Oh my god, Eric. They're having a lock-in tonight and they plan to burn a vampire in the sun as it rises. They have one in the basement."

My fangs click down at the thought. These self-righteous bastards think they have the moral high ground while they're murdering people just like they accuse us of doing. Now granted, I've killed more than a few in my time but I never claimed to be a good person. Hell, a lot of those kills was when I was still human, pillaging other villages."Is it Godric?"

"I'm not sure, I haven't found it yet they said the vampire is here, so I should be able to. Hold on." It doesn't take long, a minute or two but for me, it feels like lifetimes because I am now even more worried about it. "There! He's in the basement. He seems okay, I mean I can't hear his thoughts or anything but I can tell he's not distressed and he's alone."

"Good. Now, we must get in there and get him out."

"Maybe I can just walk in? Little ole' human me, I don't look like anyone dangerous or up to no good."

"No, Sookie. You can't go in alone, it's too dangerous. Plus, if he's locked up, how do you think you're going to get him out? No, I have to come too."

"Oh yeah? And how is Mister Big Bad Vampire going to get in without raising any red flags?"

That's a good question. Instead of responding, I stand and look at the parking lot. Once I pick the right car, still in a blind spot from the guards, I jump off the building, vamp over there, break into it, and grab what I need. I feel Sookie's indignancy at me for leaving her up there. If it were any other time I'd mess with her but alas, we have more important things to handle. So, I get back to her as quickly as I can.

"Eric Johnathan Northman, what on earth do you think you're doing leaving me stranded up here without a word?" She says with her hands on her hips.

I quirk an eyebrow at her. "Johnathan?"

"It was the first name that popped into my head and that move deserves a middle name tongue-lashing."

"Oh lover, you can lash me with your tongue however you wish, unfortunately, that will have to wait for later. For now, we must go."

Her becoming blush comes back on her cheeks, she is still so innocent even after all the things I've done to her body in the heat of our passion. She ignores her blush and her hands are planted on her hips, she's exuding the attitude and fire that draws me to her. If we were not so close to finding Godric I'd lift her dress up, rip her panties off, and have my way with her right now. "You still haven't explained to me how you're going to get in without being caught."

Quickly, I take my clothes off and put on the khakis and button-up shirt I stole. Then I adjusted my hair to look more human and my final touch was a pair of prescription glasses. I slouched down and made a mental note to myself to change my walk to copy how I see human men walk.

When I answer, I speak with a strong American accent to really sell it. "Well, Miss Stackhouse, I don't see any vampires around here, do you?"

She starts to chuckle before it turns into a full-on belly laugh. I find it rude but let her have her fun.

She must know I'm not enjoying it as much as she is because she works hard to stop her laughter. Again, if this were any other time I'd enjoy seeing her so carefree but now we have to stay focused. "Okay, okay I'm sorry. It's just…" She has to stop speaking because giggles erupt from her. She calms down and clears her throat, "Is that what you think humans look like?"

"I have spent many years studying humans and before we came out, I had to blend in constantly. Now I usually didn't make myself dress quite like this, I'd dress more like myself but yes, I passed as human many times."

"It's not bad, really, it's just a shock seeing you like this. Okay, we can go in but if they get suspicious of you, you get your behind out of there right away, understand? I'll keep going because I'm human, they won't think anything of little old me at church."

Did she really just give me an order? There is only one being on this planet who is able to give me an order and she is not him. I'm about to tell her just that when I feel how worried she is for me she just doesn't want me to get hurt. I can't fault her for that. Though she must know I am not one to take orders. So I vamp up to her, pull her close, let my fangs drop, and put them at her neck.

"Come now, lover. I must be misunderstanding you, you weren't trying to give me an order, were you?"

I neither smell fear in her scent nor feel it in the bond. No, I only feel anger. "Eric Sven Northman, you better not be threatening me. You know damn well I'm not your regular 'pet'! When I agreed to be yours, I agreed to be your partner, not some 'yes woman'. Part of being your partner is making sure you're safe and you best believe that I'll give you an order if it will keep you safe and alive!"

"You do not order me Sookie, you may tell me your worries and give suggestions but I only take orders from one person, and that's my maker." I lightly scrape my fangs along her neck then lick up the little blood that comes from it.

"Well, it's two now. If we're going to bond, you have to listen to me. I won't spend the rest of my life with someone who thinks he's too good to take my opinion into account. Or someone who threatens me anytime I go against what he thinks is best."

Fuck, she's right. What am I doing? She has no right to order me around but I have better control than this, the last thing I want to do is hurt her. I let go of her and take a step back, then run my fingers through my hair and pace back and forth, trying to get myself under control.

"I'm sorry, Sookie. You are right, I should not have done that."

"Damn right, you shouldn't have. And you better not again, not if this is going to work. I can't be with someone who would threaten to hurt me when they're upset."

"I know you are right but we will speak more on this later. For now, we must find Godric. Come."

I open my arms to her and she hesitates for a second, which hurts me more than it should, then she comes to me. Instead of walking into my hands she stands on the tips of her toes and fixes my hair after.

"There, that's better, I don't think you could ever look human, you're just more but I think it will fool them." She says with a smile then wraps her arms around me. I pull her as close as I can, kiss the top of her head, trying to show my gratitude and regret the best way I know how, then get us back on the ground.

"Sven?" I ask.

"Well, that move still deserved a middle name telling off and I figured I'd go with a more Scandinavian one this time." She says with a shrug. I chuckle then get back to work.

"Is there anyone on the other side of this door?" I ask her. I don't hear anyone but her telepathy will be more precise than my hearing in this instance.

"No, we're all clear."

I try the door but it's locked so I use my vampire strength to break the handle, I do it as quietly as I can. Sookie listens for a second then nods her head signaling that no one heard. I open the door and go in first to make sure the coast is clear, then usher Sookie in. I wrap my arm around her and try to blend in as a normal married couple, who just so happens to hate vampires, and is excited to watch one burn in the morning. I have the urge to scoff at the thought. How do these people think they're better than us when they're just as quick to end us as we can be to kill them? I look to Sookie.

"You said he's in the basement?"

"Yeah."

I lead the way looking for a door that can lead to a bacement. Why isn't Godric letting me feel him? He must know I'm here by now. Shouldn't he be giving me hints so I can find him? Or if it's too dangerous, shouldn't he be sending me warning signs to be careful? I snap out of my thoughts when two men turn the corner to the hall we're walking down. Sookie uses her bright 'Crazy Sookie' smile she normally uses when she hears something she doesn't want to from someone's head. Right now, I think she's just nervous.

"Hi, ya'll how're you doing this fine evening?" I ask, masking any form of accent I usually have, trying to make myself sound like I'm from here.

"We're doing good. Don't think I've seen you around here before, are ya'll new?" One of the men asks.

"Oh yeah, we used to be Presbyterian, but when our bishop started speaking about unity and love for vampires, we decided we had to get out of there and join a church that more fits our views. We've been here for about a month and couldn't be happier." Sookie responds.

I'm surprised at how well she's handling lying but after a second thought, I realize I shouldn't be. She's had no choice but to lie a lot because of her gift, pretending she didn't hear what people were thinking, or hearing a lie that she wasn't supposed to and having to continue it lest she give herself and her gift away.

The other man smiles at Sookie, the kind of smile that would make me drop my fangs if I wasn't pretending to be human. Does he not see she's my woman?

"Oh yeah, I completely understand what you mean. I did the same thing, my mother, her mother, her mother before that, and so on were all Baptist. The same thing happened to me, the pastor preached equality and love. I live that way for most of my life and will continue to do so, with other humans. Those things aren't humans, their things, things that deserve to be snuffed out."

"R-right, completely agree. Anyway, we better get back in there. It was nice meeting you two and I'm sure we'll be seeing you around." Sookie says and I feel that she is very uncomfortable, she must not like what she's hearing from their minds.

"Yeah, that's a good idea, the Reverand has a lot of fun stuff planned tonight, you don't want to miss it. If you need a partner for the doubles exercises, I'll be around." This man really is close to death and he doesn't even know it. I don't know what he thinks he's doing but if he says one more thing that pisses me off I'm coming back for him after I find my maker.

"Thanks for the offer but I have my husband here for that." She leans into me and I kiss the top of her head.

"Come dear, we don't want to miss any of the fun activities. Nice meeting you fellows, I'll be seeing you later." I eyed the man hitting on my woman, and I know it came out threatening because Sookie elbowed me in my ribs.

I smirk at her and we start walking away, the two men just look at us as we leave but don't say anything else. When we turn the corner, I stop to listen to them, and once I know they don't suspect us of being up to anything devious, we continue on our search.

"I told you I can pass as human."

"Yeah you were doing good until the end, that threatening growl almost gave you away." I did not even notice I growled. It's not too surprising, I'm a possessive mother fucker, and that weak human thought he could steal my Sookie from me.

"Sorry dear, I'll do better next time," I say in my American accent and she giggles.

We make our way through the halls still looking for the basement, thankfully we haven't run into anyone else. Just as that thought crosses my mind, I hear a group of five about to turn the corner so I grab Sookie and sneak into a door that is right next to us. Sookie goes to turn on the light but I stop her, I don't want the people walking by to have any reason to check in here. It is not as if I could not take them but we're trying to keep a low profile, so we can get Gordic without anyone even knowing we're here. We're just in a classroom anyway, nothing she has to worry about. I hear them speaking as they're walking by.

"So Steve really has a vampire that we're going to burn in the morning."

"Yeah, I already seen him. He's in the basement. Steve trusts me, he says that I have real potential. He invited me to dinner. Unfortunately, Stackhouse is going to be there too. Steve really likes him but I don't know what he sees in that idiot. Anyway, like I was saying, he trusts me, he said I can go down there anytime I want. Do you wanna see it?"

Sookie jumps when she hears her last name. She does not have much family and her last name is not very common. She told me the only family she has is her grandmother, her brother, and Hadley. I highly doubt the queen's favored pet has joined the Fellowship, and I know dear sweet loving Adele would do no such thing, so that only leaves Jason. She must come to the same conclusion as I because she mutters his name with so much venom it surprises me.

"Yeah." One of the men says, deciding he does want to go look at Godric as if he were some exhibit at the zoo. Hot burning rage churns through me at the thought.

"Alright, follow me."

Once they turn the corner, I open the door and we quietly follow them. It doesn't take long for us to make it to the basement door. There's a number lock on it and the leader of the group opens it. Once they're all walking down the stairs and the door is closing I quickly grab it before I can completely. I know I'm going to have to subdue the five humans we are following, if it wasn't for Sookie, I'd kill them. I hope she does not try to stop me. It won't work if she does but I do not want to start another fight between us. She will have to get used to this side of me, I'm sure she'll see it a lot in our time together. To save her from seeing the worst of it, as soon as I know she's holding the door so she's able to get in, I vamp ahead and quickly knock four out of the five out. They'll be fine once they wake but I can't have them getting in the way now. The fifth one I subdue by gripping his neck and holding him in the air. Unfortunately, that is the sight Sookie finds when she finally gets down the stairs.

"Eric!" When she says my name like that I think she's going to reprimand me or try to get me to let the man down, which I cannot. I'm pleasantly surprised when instead she yells, "Get his hands! He has liquid silver in his pocket."

Liquid silver, think pepper spray for vampires except it can do more than blind you for a few minutes, it can burn you and if enough gets on you or in you, leave you in ruin for weeks. I give my lover a small smile and then I dig in his pockets to find the spray. Once I do, I throw it across the room, then I look at the man and realize it's the same man who was blatantly hitting on my woman earlier. He does not know how lucky he is that she's here with me. It's the only reason he's still alive. Well, I correct myself, not the only reason.

"Where is the vampire you are holding?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

I let my fangs drop. "Tisk tisk, it's not smart to lie to someone who holds your life in their hands." I emphasize the point by squeezing his neck.

"Are you really going to let this fanger psychopath kill me?" He's somehow pleading and scolding her at the same time.

"The only psychopaths I see around here are you lot. Killing a vampire just for the entertainment of it. I saw children in there, you're just like the people of hundreds of years ago going to see a public hanging. It's disgusting."

Public hangings were still happening as little as fifty years ago but I don't think now is the time to tell her that. I decide this is taking too long. I guess Sookie decided that we were taking too long because she went down the hall without me. Normally I would stop her but there are no humans down here.

"Enough," I say in the voice that I know scares the shit out of people. "You will bring me to him now or I'll drain you dry where you stand… or where you're held up." I correct myself since his feet are about a foot off the ground.

In the future, I'm not sure I'll be able to explain what happens next. While I'm focusing on the man I'm holding up, I still have one ear out for Sookie. I hear it too late, the sound of another human entering the basement from an entrance I didn't know was there. The entrance must be right where Sookie is because I hear her scream and then feel pain in my head. It's not my pain, it's Sookie's, I'll be sure to think on it later how strong our bond is even though it's not complete because that pain is enough for me to drop the man. While I'm disoriented from the pain, he somehow gets to the liquid silver that I threw to the other side of the room. I vamp over to try to stop him from spraying me. As I'm reaching for his neck, he sprays it right into my face. The last thing I feel before I blank out from the pain is his neck snapping in my hands.
