With Fiver, Hawkbit, and Dandelion.

The trio weren't the best fighters Watership Down had, but working together they could hold their ground. Hazel had tasked them with holding one of the burrows to the right of the honeycomb.

Fiver was doing his best to help with the fighting, but he was much smaller compared to most rabbits. He knew he couldn't get in too close or he would be ripped to shreds. Hawkbit and Dandelion were doing most of the hard work; which was very out of the ordinary for them. Usually Bigwig had trouble getting them to do one owsla training exercise, let alone fight for as long as they had.

"Can't wait till this lowsy war's ovah, maybe Bigwig will actually give us a break." Hawkbit said in his usual sarcastic tone.

"I do hope so, I believe we have earned it for all the fighting we have done" Dandelion agreed.

Fiver was getting annoyed with the duo. He had to admit that they had fought very well, and had definitely earned respect. But the they hadn't even won yet and their all ready thinking about taking breaks.

"Look; I know we've been fighting for a while now, but I don't think we should be thinking about rest until we've achieved victory and Watership Down is safe."

"Oh come on Fiver, we've beat everything they have sent at us. Surely they can't have much left now right?"

Hawkbit was immediately proven wrong as more Darkhaven rabbits charged forth.

"Me and my big mouth"

With The does and kits.

Everyone was still anxious. They hadn't heard much other than the distance fighting from the burrow they had barricaded themselves so nobody could get in without them knowing. Nobody knew who was winning the battle.

Spartina was starting to get inpatient. She was born a fighter, all her life in Darkhaven she had to fight for everything she got. But this was the first time she couldn't. She had unborn kits to worry about now, and she would never forgive herself if she got them killed just because she felt the need to fight. But she ill felt like something was wrong, like Bigwig needed her.

Primrose had been trying to make sure her kittens: Mallow, Snowdrop, and Gillia were calm and collected.

"Marli, is Woundwort going to hurt us?" Snowdrop asked her mother.

"Your Father and I will not let that happen, we just have to wait for the owsla to drive them off the down" Primrose told her kitten.

Pipkin was staying strong, as leader of the junior owsla and future member of the real owlsa he had to be. He had asked Bigwig if he and the junior owlsa could join them in the fight, but Bigwig had refused immediately. He told him that this was a fight he would not let him join. Bigwig had a soft spot for Pipkin, so Pipkin wasn't surprised. But he could still help even if he wasn't on the front lines. He had to make sure everyone had their spirits up, even in these dark times.

He talked to Vilthuril, Blackberry, Clover and all the others to make sure they were ok. He belived he had done his job right as they seemed to cheer up a bit.

Hyzenthlay was trying to listen for anything from outside but she couldn't make anything out. Hyzenthlay was a tough doe, probably the toughest outside of Spartina. Back in Efrafa, before it was destroyed, she had been tortured, scarred, and beaten by the owsla, specifically Captain Orchis and Vervain.

"I can't hear anything, I don't know what is going on-" Hyzenthlay stopped, she heard steps getting closer.

"I smell them, their behind here!"

Hyzenthlay gasped as she recognized that voice. Orchis.

She had to act fast.

"Everyone get in a formation, Strongest in front! Kits behind! Their coming in!"

Everyone quickly rushed to get in a formation, Hyzenthlay and Spartina were in the front.

"Give them everything you've got!"

The burrow busted open as Captain Orchis charged in with a few soldiers behind him.

""Kill them all, leave none alive!" Orchis demanded.

The does clashed with the enemy owsla.

They fought as hard as they could. By working together they had the upper hand and slowly chipped away at the enemy rabbits.

Spartina sliced the neck of a soldier, killing him instantly. Primrose made sure her kits looked away from the fighting. Pipkin bit one of the legs of a soldier, distracting him long enough for Hyzenthlay to finish the job.

Soon only Orchis remained. Spartina tackled him to the ground, scratching him all over as Orchis screamed in pain.

"That's enough Spartina, he's mine"

Hyzenthlay hopped to Orchis as he lay in pain.

"Well, l-look who it is" Orchis said with a sinister smile.

"You seemed to be attached to that wretched Holly, well I have some news for you"

Hyzenthlay's eyes widened.

"What are you talking about?!" she growled

Orchis laughed

"Go look, but you might not like what you find" Orchis then laughed again, but it was cut off as Hyzenthlay slashed his throat, killing him.

Hyzenthlay ran out of the burrow towards where Holly was supposed to be fighting.

Some does followed her, yelling for her to come back.

Back with Fiver, Hawkbit, and Dandelion

They had finished the last of the attacking rabbits.

Then they heard a distant cry.

"THE GENERAL IS DEAD, WE MUST RETREAT!"

The three bucks looked at each other, could it be true?

Then they saw all the attacking rabbits running down the hill away from the down.

Hawkbit cheered

"We did it lads!!"

Dandelion and Fiver joined him in celebration

Fiver couldn't believe; it was finally over. Now Watership Down could be at peace. Or so he thought.

Authors note

Wow that took awhile, definitely the longest chapter by far. Next chapter will finally show the rabbits realizing what their victory has cost them, and the friends and family they lost.
