Author's Note: Get ready for the next chapter, which is both an original episode and an episode based on something in the show.

This took me a while to make with so many details and characters to include. I hope you like it.

Anyway, I saw the season 2 premier of Loki. So far, I really enjoy it. I can't wait to see what goes on in the next five episodes.

The song featured here is a parody of "Time Adventure" from Adventure Time.

Enjoy the chapter. Any and all comments are welcome.

"Get ready to learn about the relentless grind of nine-to-five employment." Mrs. Roop said to every kid in her class. "It's Internship Week."

"Internship Week?" Loki asked. "As in learn how to do a menial job?"

"Tell me about it." Scratch said. "What kind of weirdo gets excited about work?"

"INTERNSHIP WEEK?! YES!" Molly cheered.

"Did you seriously not see that coming?" Loki asked Scratch.

"Right. That one's on me."

"This internship is the first step in my lifelong mission to enhappify the world." Molly said. "First, I get an internship. Then, I get hired full time. Soon, I'm employee of the year. Then decade. Then I win a lifetime achievement award for enhappification!"

"Your understanding of internships could not be more wrong, Mol." Scratch said. "Internships aren't about doing good. They're about doing someone else's work for free. Actually… That's actually a great idea." With a sly smile, he opened a portal and exited the classroom.

"What about you, Loki?" Molly asked. "Surely, you can see the potential for enhappification that internships can bring."

"Molly, that would imply that the jobs we intern for are even worth the trouble." Loki said. "I've seen most of the jobs here in Brighton, and they're menial at best. Then again, compared to being a king, every other job is forgettable."

"Well, maybe you'll change your tone once they assign you your new job." Molly said.

"Forgive me if I don't hold my breath." Loki said blankly.

Mrs. Roop picked up a hat full of little papers. She dug in and pulled one out. "Our first internship is Pam's Cake 'n Bake! That's a good one because Pam is super sweet. And I'm not just saying that because I married her."

"I could enhappify a lot of people at the bakery." Molly said.

"Yeah. Nothing changes the world like a snickerdoodle." Loki retorted.

"The internship goes to… Libby!"

"Yes!" Libby cheered.

"Okay. That's cool. That's cool." Molly said. "Still lots of great places."

Mrs. Roop pulled out another piece of paper from her hat. "Barkle-Sparkle Animal Shelter."

"Oh, puppies make people happy." Molly commented happily.

"Andrea." Mrs. Roop said.

"Well, they're certainly going to make Andrea happy." Loki chuckled. He looked over at Andrea who looked back and gave him a wave. He smiled and waved back.

"What was that?" Molly asked.

"What? Nothing." Loki responded. "Shouldn't you be listening for your new menial job?"

Over the course of the class period, Mrs. Roop continued to call out businesses and assigning them to other students. Molly kept getting eager and then let down at the fact that she wasn't picked for them. This went on until…

"And finally, Molly McGee." Mrs. Roop shouted much to Molly's delight. "Your internship will be… Weird Larry's Pawn Shop!"

Molly's smile dropped. "What? No. Not Weird Larry's."

"Isn't that the guy who's best friend is a skunk?" Loki asked with a chuckle. "This just isn't your day, is it?"

"You should talk." Molly returned. "You didn't even get an internship."

Loki's eyes widened. "Hold on a minute. You're right. How did I not miss that? Hold on." He held up his hand for the teacher to see. "Mrs. Roop, I think there's a mistake. I didn't get an internship."

"You didn't?" Mrs. Roop asked realizing her mistake. "Oh, my goodness. You didn't. Hold on for a second, Lukas." She headed to her desk and typed on her computer scrolling through the pages that appeared on her screen.

"Why are you so against this?" Molly asked. "I thought you didn't even want an internship."

"That doesn't mean I get to be left out." Loki said.

Molly sighed. "To be honest, I'd rather have no internship than an internship at Weird Larry's. That's where happy memories go to die."

"True." Loki said. "To be honest, I'm trying my best to repress the fact that pawn shops exist."

"Well, this is unfortunate." Mrs. Roop left her computer desk. "Sorry, Lukas, but there doesn't appear to be any other internships. Guess I miscounted. Sorry."

"This is nuts." Loki grunted.

"Mrs. Roop," Libby said holding up her hand, "Is there an option where Lukas gets to tag along with one of us and share the internship?"

"Hmm… It is a bit unorthodox." Mrs. Roop said. "Let me see if any of the others can afford two interns." She checked her computer again. "Well, I'll be. There's one business that's open for two interns."

"Please, be Weird Larry's. Please, be Weird Larry's. Please, be Weird Larry's." Molly pleaded.

"Lukas, your internship is at…"

"Barkle-Sparkle Animal Shelter?" Loki asked finding himself in front of the animal shelter. "Well, I guess there are worse places to be."

"It looks like we're at the same internship." Andrea said smiling at Loki from beside him. "You ready?"

"Sure, I guess." Loki said. "Sorry, but I'm not really enthused about Internship Week."

"Well, no one said you had to be." Andrea said. "Just don't worry about it. I'm here with you."

Loki smiled. "Thanks. Well, let's get this over with."

The two kids entered the animal shelter, and immediately, they were taken aback by the strong over that took over their noses. Around the store, they saw small animals of many varieties. Dogs, cats, birds, even unusual animals like lizards, rabbits, and an alligator. Coming in from the back was an Asian man with thick-rimmed glasses.

"Ah, you must be the new interns." The man said. "Pleasure to meet you. Everyone calls me O.B. Welcome to Barkle-Sparkle Animal Shelter. Come with me."

Loki and Andrea followed O.B. across the store where they came across the animals. They headed to the back of the store to find even more animals in cages.

"This is a lot of animals." Andrea said.

"Well, a lot of animals need help." O.B. said.

"I always thought this place was for dogs." Loki said. "You know, since this is called the 'Barkle-Sparkle'."

"Well, it started off that way, but our store's founder decided to make a couple of exceptions for a cat here and a bird there. Eventually, the shelter decided to go into a different direction. So for now, every animal who needs help can get help from us."

"Sounds a lot more like something Molly would be into." Loki sighed. "So what do we do?"

"Well, you're mostly going to be checking on all the animals and their welfare needs." O.B. said. "You'll be given a list of what each animal needs and…"

"AH!" Loki shouted feeling a sting snap near his ankle. He and the girls looked down and found a caged alligator snarling at Loki from behind its bars. "What is that?!"

"It's an alligator." O.B. said. "I just found the little guy swimming around the Brighton creek with a weird little hat on. Strange though. He's usually docile."

Loki looked at the alligator again who once more snarled at him. "Yeah, I'm not getting anywhere near that beast."

Andrea continued looking around the cages until she stopped to hear the feint whimpers of a pained animal. She followed the sound to a nearby cage. There, the looked sympathetically at a large, black wolf laying on its side.

"What's wrong with this wolf?" Andrea asked.

"Oh, her?" O.B. asked with a dismal sigh. "Found this girl sick and down during a nature hike last month. Poor girl didn't know which end was up. I'd put her down now, but the problem is, she's pregnant."

"That's quite a dilemma." Andrea said sadly. "What are you doing?"

"Well, the best I can hope for is that the wolf gives birth before she… You know." O.B. said. "Well, in any case, let's get to work."

Loki frowned finding himself cleaning out the newspapers in a birdcage. He looked over at Andrea who was filling in food bowls for the puppies. He gave a small smile before looking back, only to get startled seeing the face of a purple ghost with square glasses. He tumbled backwards as the ghost exited the birdcage.

"Sorry. Sorry about that, Mr. Loki, sir." The ghost said. "Let me just say, I admire your work. You really brought fear everywhere you went before you died. So again, I'm sorry and..."

"You don't have to apologize for scaring, Reggie." Scratch said floating from the floor. "You did good. You just earned a reward."

The purple ghost smiled. "Really, sir."

"Yes. You get the pleasure of fixing me a cup of coffee. Head to the café and bring me something."

"Um, but the café's on the other side of town."

"DO IT!"

"YES, SIR!" The purple ghost flew right out of the store.

"Who the Helheim was that?" Loki asked.

"That's my new intern, Reggie." Scratch said. "Real nice, huh?"

"So let me get this straight." Loki said. "You started accepting interns just to have someone wait on you hand and foot?"

"Mmm… Pretty much."

"Something tells me this is going to lead with you realizing hindsight is 20-20." Loki said.

"I don't know what that means, and I don't care. So what about you? How's the animal shelter thing?"

Loki sighed. "I'm reduced to scraping poop for the animals. You know, back on Asgard, our servants had servants who would do this for us. Pretty much, the only thing I like about the internship is the fact that I'm not doing it alone."

"Ooh. A double internship. That way, I can get as much pampering done." Scratch said.

"No, Scratch."

"You're right. One's plenty. Well, gotta go." Scratch opened up a portal and exited leaving Loki to sigh.

Loki turned to continue his work when he heard a snarl coming from behind him. Suddenly, he found the alligator behind him angrily. It snapped at him, but he jumped up to dodge its bit.

"Will you stop that?!"

Halfway through the week, Loki still frowned as he found himself cleaning the outside of the shelter window. Thankfully for him, his next visitor didn't startle him. Instead, Molly McGee shared in his dismay.

"Hey, Loki."

"Oh. Hey, Molly. How's the pawn shop?"

Molly sighed. "Not so good. I tried to spruce it up and make it better, but all that did was make Weird Larry upset."

"How weird." Loki said. "Then again, that is in his name. If it makes you feel any better, I'm not having much fun with my job either."

"Then… maybe we can switch?" Molly asked hopefully. "Come on. You know I'd love to work here. Maybe we can ask Mrs. Roop if…"

"Sorry, but I can't." Loki said. "I may not like it, but it's not like I'm completely miserable."

"What? Why?" Molly asked. "I mean, I know being around puppies is awesome, but that's usually my thing. You're not really into…" She stopped talking when she noticed Loki looking through the window. She followed his eyes and saw Andrea on her phone talking on her social media page.

Molly then gasped loudly realizing what she was seeing. "Hold up! You… like… Andrea?"

Loki widened his eyes and waved his hands side to side. "No, no, no. You have it all wrong. I mean, yeah, she's relatable and impressive for her species and I may have subscribed to her social media account and…"

"You did what?!" Molly gasped. "Why haven't you told me?!"

"To avoid this exact conversation." Loki replied.

"Okay. Yeah. I can see that." Molly said. "Okay. I read you loud and clear, Casanova."

"I don't think you do." Loki said.

"Uh, huh. Sure." Molly said. She gave a smug smile and walked backwards as she left around the corner. She peeked her head out one last time to give him the smug smile again.

Loki sighed. "It feels like I just created a monster."

The day came and it was the final day of the internship. Loki had to go through one more day of working at the animal shelter. He stopped at the front door to take in one last breath before going through. As soon as he entered, he smiled seeing that Andrea had already arrived. She was texting on her phone until she smiled back noticing Loki.

"Ah! Hey, Lukas. So this is our final day. Ready to finish this?" she asked.

"Yeah, I guess." Loki said. "Um, Andrea, I gotta ask you something. This internship doesn't really seem like you. So why do you seem happy to be here?"

"Well, I know cleaning isn't really my thing, but I do love animals." Andrea said before blushing a bit. "And, I mean, it's not like I'm doing this alone. I mean, you're here, aren't you. And… That kinda makes it better. I guess…"

"KIDS! GET IN HERE, QUICKLY!"

O.B.'s voice stiffened the kids' bodies and drew them to the back room fast as lightning. The alligator sat in its cage waiting for them, but Loki jumped over its jaws when it tried to bite him. The kids stopped as soon as they found O.B. in the sick wolf cage.

"What's going on?" Loki asked.

"It's the wolf. She's giving birth." O.B. said.

"Now?!" Andrea asked.

"Yes! We have to do this right!" O.B. said. "Head to my office and bring me my breeding kit!"

"Okay!" Loki said running with Andrea behind him.

The next hour was considerably stressful. Loki and Andrea worked tirelessly to fulfill O.B.'s requests while he went to work on the wolf. Soon enough, O.B. stopped moving for a second. He then slowly raised his arms showing a small, baby wolf cub wrapped in a blanket.

"Hold onto him." O.B. instructed gently passing the wolf to Loki. "I'll check on the mama."

While O.B. turned to the mother wolf, Loki looked down at the tiny cub in his arms. Andrea got in closer gently brushing her hand on its fur.

"I… I think he's scared." Andrea said. "I don't know why, but it feels that way."

"You know, for some reason, when I see this little guy, I kinda want to destroy anyone that tries to hurt him." Loki said. "Wish I could help him though."

Andrea looked on her phone and scrolled down. "Okay. The internet says that music calms babies down. So try singing to him."

"Singing?" Loki asked trying to think of something. He suddenly remembered something. "You know, back when I was young and scared, my mother would sing me a little song to help me feel better."

"Well, try it." Andrea said.

Loki looked down at the cub in his arms and cleared his throat. He then started singing softly.

Loki:

The universe is always full of the unknown

So we choose to know little beyond our own home

We have no idea what we would find then

But then, you'll be dwelling in the fens

You'll be dwelling in the fens

'Cause then, you'll be out and running

You'll be out and running

You'll be out everywhere and when

And then, you'll be dwelling in the fens

You'll be dwelling in the fens

"That's… actually beautiful." Andrea said. "What exactly is a fen?"

"It's like a wetland or a marsh." Loki said. "It's a little wet, but it is beautiful."

"May I?" Andrea asked wanting to join in.

"Sure." Loki said.

Loki and Andrea:

You'll be out and running

You'll be out and running

You'll be out everywhere and when

And then, you'll be dwelling in the fens

You'll be dwelling in the fens

Loki:

You don't know what's out there waiting for you

You don't even know if it's real

But you know you'll be full of regrets

If you don't take a chance and go in the field

If you do that, you'll be out and running

You'll be out and running

You'll be out reaching for the end

And then, you'll be dwelling in the fens

You'll be dwelling in the fens

Loki and Andrea:

You'll be out and running

You'll be out and running

You'll be out everywhere and when

And then, you'll be dwelling in the fens

You'll be dwelling in the fens

You'll be dwelling in the fens

Andrea:
And so, you will find us there again

Moved by the words it heard, the wolf slowly opened both of its eyes showing a dim flash of green and blue light that Loki and Andrea both missed. They then noticed the cub was awake and exchanged smiles with it. Their smiles faded when O.B. turned to them with a sad look on his face.

"I'm very sorry." He said. "The mother wolf is…" He didn't need to say anymore.

Loki and Andrea lowered their heads too. The wolf cub whimpered up at Loki before giving his face a small lick. That made him smile slightly.

"So what are you going to do with this little guy?" Andrea asked.

"Well, I suppose I will have to help feed him and nurture him until he's big enough." O.B. answered. "Then, I'll release him back into the forest and maybe find his mother's pack. Or form his new pack. So until then, I guess he'll remain here where it's safe."

"So… is it all right if I visit him?" Loki asked. "At least, until he's let go?"

"Can I visit too?" Andrea asked. "He's as much my responsibility as he is Lukas'."

O.B. smiled. "Kids, you can visit whenever you want. In fact, I'll even let you name him."

"Really?" Andrea asked happily. "That's great. What do you think, Lukas?"

"Hard to say." Loki said looking down at the wolf cub looking up at him with big eyes. "There are so many names. But…Well, I suppose one idea for a name is to name him after the song we just sang to him. How do you feel about the name… Fenris?"

"Fenris, huh?" Andrea asked. "I like that name. It just… feels right."

At that moment, the front doorbell rang and Mrs. Roop walked into the shelter. Loki gently passed Fenris to O.B. before heading over to meet her with Andrea.

"Okay, you two. Time for your evaluation." Mrs. Roop said. "What have you learned from your internship?"

"More than I thought I would." Loki said looking back at the baby wolf cub. "At first, I thought this would be just a menial task, but I think this just showed me that there is beauty in even the smallest thing."

"I learned that too." Andrea said. "I mean, we helped save a little wolf's life. That's, like, gotta count for something, right?"

"That sounds great." Mrs. Roop said. "For that, I give you both an A-."

"Thanks, Mrs. Roop." Andrea said seeing her teacher leave the shop. She then turned to Loki. "Well, I guess that's it. That is, until we come back to see little Fenris, right?"

"Of course." Loki said. He and Andrea left the shelter together with O.B. watching from afar.

"What good kids." He said before putting Fenris in a little bed. As soon as he turned away, the wolf's fur glowed green and blue for a second. "Well, might as well take care of the mama wolf and…" His gaze stuck to an empty cage. He headed over to examine it. "That's weird. Where's the alligator?"

Loki decided to head over to the pawn shop where he found Molly sitting on the sidewalk. He was just as surprised to see her happy.

"Looks like your attitude has changed." Loki said. "I guess Weird Larry's turned out better than you thought?"

"Yeah. It turns out, anyone and anything has the potential to enhappify." Molly said. "Too bad Mrs. Roop gave me a C- though."

Loki chuckled. "Guess both of our internships turned out better than we thought."

"Well, what about you?" Molly asked tapping him with her elbow. "Ready to talk about Andrea? Huh? Huh?"

Loki groaned. "Let that go, will you?"

"Never!"

"All right then. How about if I tell you that I helped a mama wolf give birth?"

Molly's eyes sparkled. "Really?! Can I see the baby wolf?! I wanna see the baby wolf!"

Loki chuckled. "Easy there, you jumping bean. I'll introduce you later."

Suddenly, a ghost portal opened and Scratch and Reggie appeared before the two. Scratch looked annoyed while Reggie looked over a clipboard of papers.

"I've been analyzing your scare reports and they're disappointing." Reggie said. "I'd really like to see you pivot that into an upward trend soon."

Molly laughed. "I told you he'd be your boss."

"Drop it." Scratch said. "Loki, remember what you said before about 20-20 hindsight?"

Loki nodded.

"I think I'm starting to see what it means now."

After escaping the animal shelter, the alligator ran through the plains and grass of the park. It kept running into the thickness of the trees until its snout hit a leg. It looked up seeing President Loki smiling down at him.

"Of all the Loki's I've recruited, I must say, you are by far the most unique." He said. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a golden-horned helmet which he then placed on its head. "I filched this thing from the animal shelter's office. That fool has no idea what he took or who he took it from, did he?"

The alligator snarled.

"Now, now. I'm sure you have a lot of questions, but don't worry." President Loki said. "I'm here to help you make sense of everything. I have a few friends waiting for us, but I have a feeling things will be difficult. Frost Loki tends to have a chilling presence and you're cold-blooded, so we'll have to make some arrangements. But rest assured, all will be made right and better than before. What do you say… Alligator Loki?"

The alligator hissed before nodding. President Loki smiled kneeling down to pick him up.

"Five down." President Loki said. "Four to go."
