You're probably wondering about why this took so long. Well it's simple. Sabrina. I hit that character like a goddamn wall.

Chloe's public superhero debut had been… impactful, to say the least.

None of the words they'd said had been captured by the News, but you'd have to be blind to not recognize Chloe transforming into a superhero to save her sister and Paris' heroes.

So when she walked into class, she did it with all the pomp and flair she'd held back after Queen Bee's debut. Adrien was impressed by the restraint it must have taken to not have Sabrina make an announcement like a town crier.

"Oh Adri-" Before Chloe could finish her call, there was a squeal as Rose threw herself onto the rich girl.

"O.M.G. Chloe, I'm so glad you're alright. And I can't believe you did all that. You were so cool."

Chloe stared at the girl before she began trying to extricate herself. "Rose. We just talked on the phone yester- whoa!"

Chloe was startled as their class all congregated around her, asking excited questions.

Adrien didn't make a move as he watched Chloe all but fight everyone off, smiling as she did. Then he realized one person wasn't in the crowd.

"Impressive wasn't she?" He asked turning around to look at Marinette.

The girl had a vague look on her face. "Yeah. Pretty surprising." Then she looked at Adrien, eyes wide. "Not to say I didn't think she was… I mean, I uh-"

Adrien chuckled. "It's fine. From what I understand, she didn't always show you her best side."

"That's one way to put it."

"So…" Adrien said as Alya talked to Chloe about the interview she wanted with Paris' latest hero. "You don't want to join in the celebration?"

"I… I'd just ruin the mood."

Adrien frowned as he turned from all their classmates around Chloe to Marinette sitting alone behind him. "She's coming around to you. I think. You shouldn't feel the need to sperate yourself from everyone."

Mari gave him a smile, and a cute one at that. "Thanks. But… speaking of separate." She nodded to the door.

Sabrina was standing awkwardly, looking confused.

"Ah…" Adrien said. "I guess that's another thing to deal with."

"Need help?" Marinette asked.

For some reason, Adrien was reminded of Ladybug by the question. "No." He answered. "I think Chloe can handle this herself."

He didn't say anything about how doubtful Marinette looked.

/

"I'm glad you're being normal about this whole thing," Chloe said.

"Really?" Adrien asked.

"Of course. I might be more famous than you now you know."

"That remains to be seen Cowgirl."

Chloe scoffed, clearly aghast. "Cowgirl?"

"I mean… that's your superhero name right?"

Chloe blanked. "I hadn't thought of that," she said, sounding kind of embarrassed.

Adrien knew exactly why she hadn't tried to think of one, so he let it go. "Now… we need to talk about Sabrina."

"Sabrina? Why?"

Adrien gave her a flat look. "Because she and Marinette are practically the only people left in class you haven't talked to."

Chloe grimaced and looked away. "I mean… it's not like Sabrina dislikes me."

"She doesn't," Adrien agreed. "I think that's the biggest problem."

"So what should I do?" She asked.

"That, I'm leaving up to you."

"What?"

"I think you can handle it."

"I disagree."

"Chloe," Adrien said. "I can't fix all your problems. You need to know how to handle them yourself."

Chloe bit her lip in clear frustration but didn't disagree.

Chloe settled onto Sabrina's bed and glanced around the room.

Her host was outside fretting about the idea that Chloe was in her house for the first time. It was just another reminder that she didn't know anything about her.

Just glancing around the room, Chloe found herself learning a lot more about the girl she hung out with, even more than Adrien.

For one thing, Blue. She's always pictured Sabrina's room as the same shade of orange as her hair.

The Jagged Stone poster wasn't too surprising. The Majestia one was. It had never occurred to her that she might like a heroine other than Ladybug.

Th only thing in the room she recognized was the painting she'd paid for.

The door opened and Sabrina walked in balancing a tray with a cup and bottle of water on it.

"Here you go Chloe," she said, placing it down next to her.

"Thanks." Chloe said.

As Sabina made to pour her a drink, Chloe held out a hand. "Wait. I have something to say."

"What is it?" Sabrina asked.

"I, uh… I want to apologize."

Sabrina blinked, though Chloe could recognize something hardening in them. "Oh?" She asked.

"I haven't uh… I haven't been that good a friend to you, have I?"

"What are you talking about?" Sabrina asked with a smile. "We've always been friends."

"Have we?" Chloe asked. "Because when I think about it, it's like I've been…" she stopped. She wasn't sure she wanted to finish the sentence.

"Been what?" Sabrina asked.

"I haven't always been the greatest friend."

Sabrina stared at her before tilting her head. "Really? Well, at least you've been a passable friend."

The response made Chloe reel harder than she expected. "No I haven't," she admitted. "I was a terrible friend."

Sabrina's smile dropped. Then she got up. "Well, that's an interesting conclusion you've come to. Did Adrien tell you to say it?"

"What? No. He didn't tell me to say anything. He just told me that I needed to talk to you."

Sabrina turned to her and Chloe realized that the redhead was actually glaring at her. "Well, I guess that makes sense. You've got so many new friends. Why would you keep me around?"

"What?" Chloe got off the bed. "That's not…"

"That's not what? Isn't that why I'm last? You had to make sure everyone else would accept you before you discarded me? Th girl who's actually been your friend this whole time!" She was yelling now.

"What? No Sabrina, that's not why? I- I just…"

"You just what? Tell me? Tell me why you've been so nice to everyone all of a sudden?" Tears began to appear in her eyes. "What's so great about them that you suddenly learned to be nice?"

"I… Adrien…"

"Ah, Adrien again. You're 'best friend.'"

Chloe grit her teeth but soldiered on. "Adrien said you liked me too much to make me work for it. That you would accept any apology I gave you."

Sabrina stared at her, then she laughed. It wasn't a short laugh. It was a hysterical laugh that had her throwing her head back.

Chloe stared in confusion.

"What?" She asked. "He said I was too easy? Too pathetic? Well, I guess what they say about models and blondes is wrong. He was absolutely right."

"You know that's not what he-"

"But," all too suddenly, Sabrina stopped laughing. "Isn't that what you've always wanted?"

Chloe's mouth snapped shut. She had no idea what to say to that.

"I think you need to leave."

"But… I need to-"

"To what? Make yourself feel better?"

"No I mean… I want to make you feel better."

"I don't want to feel better. I want you to leave."

Chloe made to argue but the angry and miserable look on Sabrina's face gave her pause. She looked down and nodded before turning to the door and walking out.

As she closed the door behind her, she realized that Officer Roger was staring at it in surprise. She supposed they hadn't been very quiet.

She gave him a tight smile. "Be honest with me. I was-am a terrible person, aren't I?"

He hesitated to answer.

"I thought so." She walked past him.

Sabrina collapsed on her bed after the girl she'd considered her friend left.

She stared at her ceiling blankly. "Why did I do that?"

She turned her head, catching sight of the painting she'd been given what felt like a lifetime ago. It was of her with her face half-buried in a book. It was kind of funny how intensely she was reading it. She had no idea when Chloe had taken the picture. The rich girl had even bought her a frame to hang it with.

It was a genuinely nice thing to do but looking at it just made Sabrina angry. Both at Chloe, and at herself.

"What is wrong with me?"

Marinette thought that the class was oddly quiet when she walked in. She was almost late, as always, and was the last to arrive, so the silence made little sense. Then she realized that Chloe was sitting alone looking absolutely miserable. As she turned her head, she realized with a start that Sabrina was sitting at the back, looking decidedly just as bad. Adrien looked confused and frustrated.

She walked to her seat before leaning to Alya. "What's happening?"

"I don't know, but I think Chloe may have really messed up this time."

Before they could say anything more, Miss. Bustier walked in. "Good morning class," she said as she looked around the class, pausing when she realized one of the students had moved. She looked them both over in a moment of quiet before she turned to the board without saying anything.

Marinette could practically feel the class deflate as the tension dissipated as she let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding.

The school day was relatively normal, with everyone having agreed to ignore the elephant in the room. Though Marinette had seen their teacher call Chloe to talk to her during the lunch break.

Once their last class was over, Chloe was on her feet and all but running out. Adrien followed.

"Okay," Marinette said. "What was all that?"

"A slowly inflating bubble finally popping?" Alya answered.

"I'm serious. They both…"

"Excuse me," a small voice said drawing her attention to Sabrina, who looked even smaller than she sounded. "Can we talk?"

The big challenge with Sabrina as a character is that she's a victim and an accomplice. And I'm nervous at my portrayal of her because I don't want to make her look too bad or too innocent. She and Chloe have a complicated relationship.

How did I do?
