A/N Since I maintain that at the very least, the swim team experiment had to have left changes to Xander that the writers ignored, I try to find different ways those changes could have expressed themselves, based off of known abilities about marine life.
Xander stepped out of the Stargate onto a beautiful, lush world. He knew from the knowledge in his head, that the Nox were extremely advanced. But they had advanced their technology for one reason and one reason only. To protect themselves or others. They were not an aggressive people, which made defending themselves difficult. They'd learned early in their evolution how to hide. And they used Magic as naturally as a human flipping a switch to turn on a light bulb. And he now knew, the Hyena and Fish Boy experiment had made changes to him. The Asguard didn't understand Magic and couldn't do anything in regards to the Hyena, but the Nox could. The first person he saw bore an uncanny resemblance to Principle Snyder. Xander knew it was just a coincidence, but it was still a freaky one.
"Welcome, Alexander Harris, I am Opher. Let us see what we can do to help you." He gestured for Xander to lay down on a pallet and he and the other Nox held their hands out over him. He felt himself falling asleep. When he woke, Opher explained what they had found and done.
"This animal spirit that was once apart of you, made changes to you. It has increased some your own instincts. The need to protect your home and those you consider family."
"That was already a pretty strong instinct in me."
"Yes, I imagine so. It has also increased your aggressiveness somewhat. We cannot remove those, it would damage your own instincts, which you need for survival. But we were able to blend them more into you. They are no longer at odds with you. As to the alteration done to you, that too has left permanent changes. Mostly in your ability to heal, but also, you have the ability to camouflage yourself, to blend into your environment."
"I didn't know that!"
"It needs to be consciously triggered, but it, like the instincts, is a part of you now and can not be removed. We have managed to remove most of the knowledge you gained. Unfortunately, some of it is imbedded in your subconscious, too deep for us to dig it out. It will surface from time to time, perhaps in flashes or in dreams. The knowledge may prove useful."
"Probably. The Alterrans were very advanced and knowledgeable."
"Your link to them is stronger then you know. It comes from both sides of your family. Which I imagine is even rarer then one having it from one side of the family, given how few remained behind. What this means is that you will also retain the ability to heal others."
"Also something that will come in handy. Anything else?"
"Not as far as we can tell. But if you do experience any other issues, please contact us. We will endeavor to assist you."
"Thank you for everything you have done. I appreciate it. I was dying, i know I was. It was too much for one mind to hold."
"Yes, it was. You know of Magic, that is why you sought help from us?"
"Yes, I've known people on my world that practice Magic."
"Be certain that they are aware of the risks. Power of any sort can be seductive. And to use it for dark purposes, will corrupt the one using it."
"Dark purposes? Like something that involves a soul?"
"Do you know of someone who has done such a thing?! Souls belong to the Unity, to that which is beyond us. To use Magic on a soul, damages the soul of both the castor and the one it was used on."
"I do know someone who did Magic involving a soul. I don't think she understood the ramifications of her actions. I'll tell her when I return to Earth."
"Good. Perhaps she can avoid problems. If you are ready to depart, we will open the Stargate back to Earth. Tell your leaders, they have not grown enough. They will understand."
"I will." Xander watched as the small woman, Lia, as she'd introduced herself as, opened the Stargate. Xander moved unhesitatingly into it. It was time to go home, back to his Cordy. They still had so much to see. Also, the only thing he would tell General Hammond and his people was that the knowledge had been removed and he didn't remember any if it. He would not tell them about the Hyena, the camouflage or the healing. But he would tell Cordy. The others, he didn't think he'd tell them about the knowledge. That would mean explaining about the Stargate as well, and he knew that was definitely a secret.
