I do not own The Loud House or Pokemon in any way.

(Fifteen minutes earlier)

After a long journey of traveling through route four, Lincoln, Clemont, and Bonnie had finally made it to their destination, Santalune City. The group of three young travelers began looking through the City and we're amazed by everything they saw, including the fountain that was inspired by the Pokemon known as Roserade.

"Wow, so this is Santalune City."said Lincoln, who was amazed by everything he saw... as it was a beautiful city that was filled with much life in the form of green plants.

Lincoln was amazed by all the green plants that are around the city, and all the bug type Pokemon that seem to frolic around the city like it was their home in the forest.

"The Santalune City gym leader is known to specialize with bug type Pokemon, so it makes sense that the city is welcoming to bug types."said Clemont, feeling like that bit of information would come in handy for Lincoln.

"Wow, then I really need to step up my game. Treecko and Ralts have been training hard over the last several days, but will that be enough to earn us our gym badge?"questions Lincoln, wondering if he was ready to take on his first ever Pokemon gym.

"Well, there's only one way to find out."said Bonnie, reminding Lincoln that the only way he knows if he'll win or lose is to try.

"Your right, Bonnie. The only way I'll know if I'm ready to take on the gym leader is by taking on the gym and seeing if I'm at the level necessary to earn my first gym badge!"said Lincoln, before he looked at a nearby sign that appeared to be a map of the city.

"It seems like the Pokemon gym is on the northwestern part of the city... in fact it's exactly on the northwestern part."said Lincoln, as the city map showed that the Santalune City Pokemon gym was on the farthest point of the northwestern part of the city.

"Well, let's go!"said Bonnie, before she and Lincoln began making their way to the gym.

"Wait you guys! Don't leave me behind."said Clemont, who quickly ran after his sister and friend.

The three young trainers got the attention of many of the people of the city as they made their way through the various streets and roadways that made up the city. Lincoln how to smile on his face the whole way as he had spent about a week making his way to Santalune City! He didn't manage to capture any new Pokemon, but he did have a lot of sparring partners for the two Pokemon he currently did have in his possession.

He felt like he was ready to take on the world, or at least the Santalune City gym leader to a Pokemon battle!

"Alright, we're here!"said Lincoln as he arrived in front of a building with a pokeball logo on the front, indicating that it was affiliated with the Pokemon League.

"Wow, this place is so big and pretty."said Bonnie, admiring the architecture of the building.

"Yes, a true fine work of art. And I see it's also a greenhouse."said Clemont, noticing that the structure was built so that a lot of sunlight could go in.

"Well, let's get going!"said Lincoln, before he took his first step into the building that was the Pokemon gym.

There he saw someone who was dressed like a referee talking to a woman dressed in casual wear in the form of green jogging pants, a white muscle shirt that showed a bit of her stomach, and around her chest was a camera.

"Hello, is one of you here to challenge me today?"questions the woman.

"Your the gym leader, I'm assuming."spoke up Lincoln as he and his group approached the woman.

"Yes. I'm Viola, the Santalune City Gym leader, it's nice to meet you."said Viola, before she extended a hand of friendship to each individual.

Lincoln was the first to shake her hand.

"My name is Lincoln Loud, and I'm here to challenge you for a gym badge."said Lincoln, while Viola was shaking Bonnie and Clemont's hands.

"You must be the white haired young man from the United States. I heard about you from the Pokemon League."said Viola, confusing Lincoln as he wondered how she heard of him.

"How did you hear about me when I just came here a week ago."said Lincoln, as he was sure he hasn't done anything to get attention.

"Well when the grandson of a legendary champion comes to Kalos, the Pokemon League is careful to pay attention to those individuals "said Viola, making Lincoln realize that she knew about him thanks to his grandfather Albert.

"Man, Pop-Pop must have been one strong Pokemon champion."said Lincoln, wondering how strong his grandfather and his Pokemon were when they were in their prime.

"Well yeah, your grandfather was the longest running champion in the history of Kanto. He's quite famous in other regions too for taking on their local competitions and dominating most of them."said Viola, making Lincoln whistles he can only imagine how much of a beast his grandfather was in his prime.

"Wow."was all Lincoln had to say to that.

"Wait, you're the grandson of Albert, the legendary Albert!"said Clemont, as both he and Bonnie look shocked.

"Well he didn't tell me anything about his Pokemon career until a few days ago."said Lincoln in his defense.

"I thought that turkey tail seemed familiar."said Bonnie, who remembers seeing an old picture of Albert with a similar turkey tail haircut.

"Wow, I knew my Pop-Pop must have been strong, but I never imagined he would be a legend."said Lincoln, who made a mental note to ask his grandfather some of his Pokemon Journey stories the next time he calls him.

"After hearing that the grandson of a legendary champion was coming to Kalos, I couldn't wait for you to come to my gym for a Pokemon battle. Let's see what you're made of, kid."said Viola, who was motioning for the group to follow her.

So that's exactly what the group did as they began following Viola into another part of the gym. There they saw a Pokemon battlefield that was in the middle of the greenhouse. it was made up of white lines on a ground floor, and it look like it was big enough to hold pokémon of different shapes and sizes.

"This will be a two on two, Lincoln. I would normally use my usual partners, but considering you're a new trainer I'll go with the team I go with when I'm challenged by a Pokemon trainer with no gym badges."said Viola, well the person who look like the referee handed her two pokeballs.

"That is fine by me."said Lincoln, before he and Viola took their places on the battlefield.

A few seconds later the guy wearing the referee uniform took his position on the battlefield, well at the same time grabbing two flags that was on a nearby table.

"This will be at two on two Pokemon battle between Lincoln Loud the challenger, and Viola, the Santalune City gym leader. The battle will be over when one side's pokémon are unable to continue. Additionally, only the Challenger will be allowed to substitute. Do both Pokemon trainers understand the rules?"questions the referee.

"I understand."replied Lincoln, before he prepared a pokeball.

"Me too."said Viola, before she prepared a pokeball.

"Alright then, let the battle begin!"said the referee as he held both flags high up in the air.

"Surskit, come on out!"said Viola, before she tossed the pokeball she was holding which soon open to release the Pokemon that was inside.

What formed was a blue insectoid Pokémon. There are semicircular pink markings under its dark, circular eyes. It has a round body with four long, skinny legs extending from it. On top of its head is a yellow cap with a single antenna.

"Who's that Pokemon?"questions Lincoln as he pulls out his pokedex app to identify the Pokemon in front of him.

Pokdex: Surskit, the pond skater Pokemon. They usually live on ponds, but after an evening shower, they may appear on puddles in towns.

"So it's a bug in water type. Better be careful."said Lincoln as he put his Pokedex away.

"Ralts, I choose you!"said Lincoln as he called out the feeling Pokemon for battle.

"Ralts!"said the feeling pokémon, as she was ready to throw down.

"I'll let you have the first move."said Viola, as it was customary for gym leaders to give their challenges the first move.

"Thanks! Ralts, use confusion!"ordered Lincoln, causing the feeling pokémon to unleash a blast of psychic energy at the pond skater Pokemon!

"Dodge it!"ordered Viola, causing the pond skater Pokemon to quickly move out of the way, avoiding confusion.

"So fast!"shouted Lincoln, as he was surprised by how fast the bug type Pokemon moved.

"Don't expect a gym leaders Pokemon to be on the same level as a wild Pokemon's."said Viola, making it cleared Lincoln that her pokémon want a different level than the pokémon he was used to.

"Use hypnosis!"ordered Lincoln, deciding to put the pawn skater pokémon to sleep so that he would have a better chance of striking.

"Not bad, but that's not going to work! Use screech!"ordered Viola, causing Surskit to use screech to block hypnosis, preventing it from falling asleep.

"Damn!"said Lincoln, as he was really hoping hypnosis would work.

"Use ice beam!"ordered Viola, causing the pond skater Pokemon to shoot a blast of ice towards the battlefield, covering it in ice.

"What?"questions Lincoln, wondering what the gym leader was up to.

"Now quick attack!"ordered Viola, causing the pond skater pokémon to quickly slide over to the feeling Pokemon before striking her with quick attack, causing damage!

"It's faster than before!"said Lincoln, before he figured out that the gym leader had just turned the battlefield into an ice rink!

Meaning that the pond skater Pokemon had an unfair advantage against Ralts!

"Use quick attack again and again!"ordered Viola, causing Surskit to move around the ice covered battlefield like a figure skater as it began moving in such a erratic pattern that Ralts could not keep an eye on it.

She struggled as the pond skater Pokemon kept striking her again and again with quick attack from every direction! Everytime she appeared to anticipate where her opponent would strike next, Surskit would be one step ahead and striker from a completely different direction.

"Finish with quick attack!"ordered Viola, causing the pond skater pokémon to quickly zoom towards the feeling Pokemon with the intention of ending the battle with tackle!

"Dodge it!"ordered Lincoln, causing the feeling Pokemon to jump into the air to avoid getting hit with tackle!

"Not bad, but not good enough! Use ice beam!"ordered Viola, causing the pond skater Pokemon to shoot a blast of ice power towards the feeling Pokemon with its antenna.

Ralts could do nothing as she was struck with ice beam, freezing her salad before she fell back onto the field, revealing she had been knocked out!

"Ralts!"shouted Lincoln, who mentally slapped himself as he realized by making Ralts jump into the air, he accidentally made her an easier target to strike.

"Ralts is unable to battle! Meaning that this part of the match belongs to Surskit and Viola!"declared the referee, while Lincoln recalled his Pokemon back to her pokeball.

"Sorry for letting you down."said Lincoln, before he plays the pokeball containing Ralts back onto his belt.

"Wow, most new trainers blame their Pokemon for their mistakes. But not you."said Viola, who sounded impressed.

"I'm not going to blame someone for something they didn't do... that's already gone too much around in my family."said Lincoln, who knew at this very moment that his sisters are still blaming him for their protocol getting ruined.

But that wasn't important to him right now as he needed to focus on the battle!

"Treecko, I choose you!"said Lincoln, before he called out the wood gecko Pokemon for battle.

"Tree!"said the wood gecko Pokemon as he flexed.

"A grass type? Not exactly a good matchup against my bug types."said Viola, wondering what Lincoln was up to.

"Type is not the only thing that decides a battle!"said Lincoln, surprising the gym leader as she smiled upon hearing that.

"Well, well, well, looks like there's some talent here after all!"said Viola, who couldn't wait for the battle to continue.

"Treecko, use pound!"ordered Lincoln, causing the wood gecko Pokemon to jump into the air before he struck the pond skater Pokemon in the face, causing damage to Surskit!

"Sur!"said the pond skater pokémon as it was pushed back.

"Not bad! It's clear this Treecko possessive power!"said Viola, not knowing that there was someone watching the gym battle from the skylight.

Froakie had been following Lincoln and his friends ever since Lincoln left Lumiose City. The bubble frog pokémon felt some kind of special connection with the young boy, and the more he watched them, the more he wanted to learn about this mysterious trainer with white hair.

He just kept on watching as the battle continued.

"Use ice beam!"ordered Viola, causing the pond skater Pokemon to unleash a blast of ice power towards the wood gecko Pokemon!

"Jump to the side before using bullet seed!"ordered Lincoln, causing the wood gecko Pokemon to jump to the side before he started blasting the pond skater Pokemon with multiple blasts of green seeds.

"Wow, normally that wouldn't be effective but considering the Surskit is part water type, it still takes a normal amount of damage. Nice!"said Viola, as it was clear to her that Lincoln was adapting.

'He really is like his grandfather! Now let's see if he possesses his fighting spirit!' thought the gym leader, before she decided to intensify the match.

"Use quick attack all around Treecko!"ordered Viola, causing the pond skater Pokemon to zip around the ice covered battlefield, striking the wood gecko Pokemon back to back with multiple quick attacks!

"This made Treecko take a knee, as he was taking a lot of damage!

"Treecko! Are you okay?!"shouted Lincoln out of concern for his starter Pokemon.

"Tree!"said the wood gecko Pokemon with a thumbs up.

"Alright then, let's turn this battle around! Use pound!"ordered Lincoln, causing the wood gekko pokémon to once again jump into the air before he struck the pond skater Pokemon with pound, causing damage.

"Use bug bite!"ordered Viola, causing green like fangs to appear from Surskit's mouth!

"Dodge it!"ordered Lincoln, but it was too late as the pond skater Pokemon closed the distance, and struck the wood gecko Pokemon with the super effective bug type move!

"Tree!"said the wood gecko Pokemon as he fell back, before it was revealed Treecko had been knocked out!

"Nooooo!"shouted Lincoln, realizing that he lost.

"Treecko is unable to battle! Meaning that the battle belongs to Viola the gym leader!"declared the referee, while Lincoln we called his starter Pokemon back to his pokeball.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry I didn't use you guys the best of your ability!"shouted Lincoln, before he began running out of the building.

"Lincoln!"shouted Clemont and Bonnie as they ran after him.

"You have potential, kid! But you and your Pokemon need to improve yourselves before you come back! Don't let one loss affect the rest of your Pokemon trainer career! Everyone wins some and loses some! Don't be a sore loser and take your loss as a life lesson!"shouted Viola, hoping that Lincoln heard her as he ran out of the gym while making his way to the nearest Pokemon center.

There Lincoln quickly checked in his pokémon so they could be treated for their injuries. As he left his Pokemon with Audino wearing a nurse's hat, he went over to the nearby waiting area where he began sobbing, with his eyes covered with shadow as tears fell down his face!

He thought he was going to win his first Pokemon battle but he couldn't have been more wrong! Surskit was tough, and that idea to turn the battlefield into an ice rink was absolute genius! Lincoln didn't know how he was going to overcome that the next time he challenges the gym! The only thing she could do now was cry it out and listen to what the gym leader said to him before he ran out of the building. He and his Pokemon needed to grow stronger, so the next time they would win!

"Are you okay?"question someone who was standing next to Lincoln.

"No..."said Lincoln as he wiped away some tears.

"Maybe talking about it can help."said the voice as she sat down next to Lincoln.

"Maybe... I'm Lincoln."said Lincoln as he extended his hand in friendship.

"I'm Serena."said the girl as she shook Lincoln's hand.

"Nice to meet you, Serena."said Lincoln, before Serena offered him a handkerchief.

"Here, to wipe those tears away."said Serena while Lincoln took the handkerchief to wipe away his tears.

"I'm guessing you lost your gym battle against Viola."said Serena as Lincoln gave her back the handkerchief.

"Yeah..."said Lincoln.

"I think I can help you out."said Serena with a smile.

"... I'm listening."said Lincoln, as the Serena had caught his attention.

[After finally making it to Santalune City, Lincoln ends up losing his first ever gym battle against the gym leader, Viola.
