THE WEDDING

WHAT IF JACK THORTON HAD TAKEN A POSITION WHEN CHARLES III ASKED ELIZABETH IN MARRIAGE AT SCHOOL...

On his knees Charles III, with a huge diamond ring spoke:

- Elizabeth Thacther, I love you; we are equal, same social class, our families want and accept our marriage as being the best for both families. world, we can have our children and you can even teach them, doing what you like inside the house. You will be able to do your acts of charity in a charity bazaar together with our mothers and our sisters. We are perfect for each other in this life. Will you marry me?

- Charles... what got into you? I do not love you. I love Jack Thorton. You are just my friend, a brother to me and nothing more.

- But Elizabeth, you can't go against your father's will, you always respected him and accepted his requests, because he knows what's right for you. And walking close to Elizabeth, he took her hand with some strength and held it tight.

But minutes before, back in the city, Jack Thorton, entered the police station, after a good shower, put on his best suit, a moss green one, opened the drawer of his desk and took a box with a small diamond ring, he knew that it was something simple for a princess of Hamilton, but that was already too expensive for his purchasing power. But Elizabeth, his beloved, deserved that and everything else and he was going to make all her dreams come true.

Jack Thorton, went straight to school, where on the way he met several of his students. The children greeted him, they were all smiling and playing, they were commenting on the class and very satisfied with the explanation of the class by teacher Elizabeth. Jack knew that she loved these children with all her heart, several times he witnessed her commitment to the children and that made him love that woman even more. Arriving at the school, he heard a man's voice from the stairs, and when he looked, he saw Charles III on his knees asking Elizabeth to marry him. She had her back to the door, so Jack couldn't even see her facial expression. Jack sneaked and hid near the door, listening to all the history and conversation between them, it seemed that his lungs had stopped working, he couldn't feel the air coming in, his heart was beating so fast that it seemed to drop out of his chest. His Elizabeth was going to get married with Charles III; Jack Thorton knew perfectly well that Charles III could give him the best and the best to make Elizabeth happy, but could he give her love? Would Elizabeth prefer luxury and wealth or true love?

Resolving with himself, Jack walked into the school and what he heard made him stop at the time...

It was at that moment that he had the most strength to fight for Elizabeth and value her love.

- Charles, I love Jack Thorton, and only he will be my husband. Please let me go, you're squeezing my arm. And he was trying to get out of Charles's hands.

And so, Jack entered the school, passed by Charles III, made him remove his hands from his Elizabeth, held her by the waist hugging and kissed her cheek and looking at Charles spoke with a serious face and a mountie voice:

- I love Elizabeth, I may not have the same social level that you have, but I am honorable and hardworking, and I will do my best to love, respect and care for Elizabeth, and I will make her very happy today and always.

- Who do you think your Jack Thorton is?

- I'm Elizabeth's boyfriend, her future fiance and soon her husband and father of her children. The man who will honor and respect her no matter what happens, and who will never do what you're doing here and disrespect her wishes. And now Charles, enough yelling, this is a school as well as a holy church. Besides, you are, as I said, disrespecting my dear Elizabeth, and if you insist on it I will arrest you for disturbing the law and imposing your presence on Elizabeth by trying to intimidate her.

Elizabeth, not wanting to see her friend in trouble with the law, but wanting him to understand once and for all, went on to say:

- Charles, her last time, I'll tell you. You are my friend and a brother and you will always be just that. You must not follow the dictates of our families. You must look for someone who loves you and makes you happy, the same way I am happy with Jack.

So Charles looked at Elizabeth and, perceiving by her look that she would not back down, decided to leave without saying anything.

When Elizabeth turned back, Jack was on his knees, with his dimpled smile, and bright eyes, in his beautiful moss green suit, with a box with a beautiful diamond ring and with his most radiant smile he asked:

- Elizabeth, you agree to marry me!

- Yes Jack Thorton! I love you and I will be the happiest woman in the world marrying you.

And after putting the ring on the ring finger of Elizabeth's hand, Jack pulled her into his arms and looking at her beautiful blue, he lowered his head and felt her lips, in the most passionate kiss of his entire life.

END

AUTHOR'S NOTE: UNTIL TODAY I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY JACK THORTON IS SO SLOW ABOUT THINGS. FIRST, HE DIDN'T TRUST HIM AND DELAYED THE PROPOSAL BECAUSE OF CHARLES, THEN HE PROPOSED TO MARRIAGE ON THE EVE OF GOING TO WAR. THEY STAYED TOGETHER FOR 4 YEARS TO GET ENGAGED AND ANOTHER YEAR WHERE HE WAS AT WAR TO THEN GET MARRIED. WELL ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH, AT THAT TIME A YEAR WAS THE MAXIMUM BETWEEN DATING, ENGAGEMENT AND MARRIAGE, WELL UNTIL MY GRANDMOTHER'S TIME WAS STILL LIKE THAT NOW IMAGINE IT IN I GIVEN MY VERSION OF A SOLID JACK, WHO KNEW HIS OWN WORTH AND THEIR LOVE FOR EACH OTHER AND THAT IT WAS WORTH FIGHTING FOR THE LOVE AND UNION OF THE TWO.
