The Forest of Dxun
Setsuna made his way cautiously through an imperial outpost, the angular metal hallways with small, interspersed alcoves blending together as he tried to avoid detection, his footsteps echoing on the metal floor. A holodisk sat in the Kiffar's pack, intelligence on the Empire's operations that had been asked for by Rebel Command, hidden on the dangerous moon of Dxun that orbited the major planet of Onderon. Getting in had been easy; the garrison had been on light alert, letting him sneak right in.
The raven-haired man's outfit definitely stood out, an olive-green coat that went down to his stomach over a tan button-down shirt, both covered by an armored vest. He also wore dark pants and military boots, a blaster pistol at his side, along with a rapier-like vibroblade and vibrodagger.
As he turned a corner, he looked around, his brown-ish red eyes not seeing any guards coming down the hallway. His scouting of the garrison had revealed a relatively light garrison, and he assumed the Imperials thought this place was secure enough to not need heavy guard. 'Just makes it easier for us.'
Moving silently through the next corridor, he spotted a lone stormtrooper, dressed in their famous white armor, patrolling away from him. Pulling out a vibrodagger, he advanced on the soldier like a predator, eyes narrowed at his unsuspecting prey. As the soldier was about to turn a corner, Setsuna struck, burying the vibrating blade into his open neck, stopping any chance of him calling out for help.
The body dropped with a thud, and Setsuna immediately began to move it out of sight, though he wasn't too concerned about it. He would be out of here in a few minutes. Just then his commlink rang, which he picked up, a relaxed man's voice coming through, "What's your status Setsuna?" Setsuna could hear the curiousity in the man's voice, even though it was well hidden.
Setsuna whispered evenly, "Should only take a few more minutes, Lyle. Be ready at the landing site."
"Cool. Just don't do anything rash." He cut out, leaving Setsuna alone in the seemingly empty hallways. Taking a deep breath, Setsuna picked up his pace, following the path he followed to get to the data room at the outpost. As he kept an eye out, he looked to the blaster pistol to his, hoping he wouldn't have to use it.
He heard the sounds of boots approaching, so he dived into an alcove, pressing himself against the wall. The footsteps got closer and a group of three stormtroopers, E-11 blasters in hand, walk past him, not even looking in his direction. 'They need more discipline.' Letting them pass, he double checked he was safe, seeing nothing but a small mouse droid, so he booked it for the side entrance he used.
As he reached the metal door in the small hallway, he pressed the button to open it and was surprised to see the white armor of two stormtroopers looking at him just as shocked as he was, their reactions delayed. Quickly reacting, Setsuna pulled out his blaster and shot one of them in the chest, a scar marking the spot on the chest as the man fell over, his partner calling out in anger, "Intruder!"
With stealth out the window, Setsuna dived over the fallen imperial with supernatural speed, grabbing his blaster as he narrowly dodged the shot that came from the imperial trooper. Showing his own blaster, he turned and fired a few shots at the imperial soldier, missing two but nailing him in the third, his form hitting the wall as the raven-haired rebel heard the sounds of alarms going off and the calls for men to investigate what was going on. Setsuna was brave, but he knew when he was outmatched. 'Lyle's not going to be happy, especially after this.'
Pulling a detonator, throwing away the E-11, and pressed the red button at the top. He felt the base and himself rock as a plume of fire and smoke engulfed the other side of the base. On his own initiative, he had placed some explosives in the armory, which had taken him extra time to get in and out. His initial plan was just to blow them up as he got a good distance from the base, but this would do.
He heard more cries of confusion and the alarm sound blaring, so his job was done. This would hold them up for long enough they wouldn't check out the landing sight. 'And now the empire has less weapons to use to kill innocents.' He slipped away under the cover of chaos, like a ghost in the night.
As Setsuna reached the landing site, the gray VT49 Decimator, its side with the last remnants of the name The Vagabond, with its wide hull, two forward pointing wings and front viewpoint that looked like a Tie Fighter's cockpit, sat in a clearing. Setsuna smiled slightly looking at the closest thing to safe. While he didn't mind the danger of infiltration missions, there was a something comforting about the ship. He walked over to the loading ramp, which lowered as he approached, and he entered, the mechanical sounds of the landing ramp closing as he headed to the armory. The ship certainly had the same sort of architecture that many imperial craft had, but he had grown used to it, and the ship certainly gave him quiet areas to relax and reflect. The ship rocked as it took off, getting out of the hot zone that was the area near the base.
Putting his blaster pistol and vibroblade on the rack, he shrugged off his pack, removing the holodisk from it as he headed to the bridge, going up the stairs at the top of the T that made up the main hallway of the lower level. As his head poked out, he spotted his two teammates looking at him. To the left was Lyle Dylandy, the unofficial captain of the ship and proud Corellian, wearing dark, jean-like pants and a gray shirt covered by a green vest, his brown hair messy, going to the top of his neck and blue eyes looking annoyed.
And to the right of him was Christina Sierra, the Zeltron technician of the ship. Her skin was pink, loose brown hair flowing down her back, friendly smile on her face. She wore a black tube top, contrasting against her skin and revealing her toned midriff, tight black pants with a pair of boots with small heels completing the picture, her brown eyes warmly greeting Setsuna before she even said a word. Both of them were older than him, though with Christina it was definitely harder to tell. Behind them sat the ship controls and system monitors, the two only taking up two of the five seats.
Lyle spoke first as Setsuna reached the top of the stairs, leaning back in his chair, "Setsuna, can you explain why there's a crater at that base?"
Setsuna looked at him evenly, not wavering, "I was detected as I was about to leave, and had previously placed explosives in their armory, so I thought it would be a good distraction to keep them from finding the ship."
Lyle crossed his arms over his chest, his voice a bit teasing, "And it wasn't because you went off to do your own thing?"
Setsuna frowned for a second, before responding, "Just wanted to do as much damage as I could."
Lyle was about to speak, but Christina spoke up, "C'mon Lyle. You know that you would do the same thing."
Lyle shrugged his shoulders, "I know, but I have to act with some authority. Sumeragi gets on my ass when we go above objectives. A simple infiltration and exfiltration job should not involve massive explosives." He let out a sigh, "At least we can report that it was because you used it to escape. That should pacify them."
Christina stood up, the buxom brunette grabbing onto Setsuna's arm, her voice teasing, coming up a head short on him, "Don't get bothered by him. I think men who follow their own path are very attractive." Setsuna showed no real response to her flirtatious remarks and Lyle just rolled his eyes, used to her doing this. 'Zeltrons I swear.' She was always like this, and seemed to dote on Setsuna more than others, despite him never responding to them. 'Must have a lot of willpower to resist a woman like her.'
Lyle just grinned, "Christina, don't you have a boyfriend?"
Christina just quirked her head, smiling back, "Yes, but as long as I don't actually do anything, he's ok with me flirting with people." Initially her boyfriend had been offput by it, but Christina had explained how her people were, so they had compromised on her being able to casually flirt, which Christina had rewarded him with a night that he would never forget. She still giggled to herself sometimes thinking about that night.
But back in the present, Christina just pulled Setsuna's arm between her breasts and smirked at Lyle, "Are you jealous I'm paying attention to him and not you?" Lyle just rolled his eyes and she laughed, "If you weren't so desperately single than maybe I would shower you with affection." She leaned her head on Setsuna's shoulder, "Setsuna's just so cute and I love the V on his forehead."
Setsuna pulled his arm away from her, causing the Zeltron to pout as he brough a hand to his forehead, where a wide V in yellow sat. It was a mark of his family, a traditional tattoo that his family had used for generations. He frowned at the memory, but looked at his two teammates, "Do we need to head to base, or do we have more missions?"
Lyle responded with grin, "We have been ordered to report to Mestare. Apparently we have more crew to add to the ship. Must be something big coming up."
Christina moved back to her seat, looking at Lyle curiously, "Do we know who's going to be a part of the crew?"
Lyle shook his head, "I'm guessing they are keeping it secret to avoid any info leaks. But they must be either expanding operations somewhere or we have a major operation in the works."
Setsuna frowned at the thought. It wasn't that he was opposed to a new crew, but he, Lyle and Christina had a good dynamic. Christina was the data, public relations and tech person, and he and Lyle did ground operations. They got jobs done, granted smaller ones, but bigger jobs meant more risks. These were orders and he wouldn't complain, but he had a strange feeling something was important about this.
Christina was looking between the two men, a mischievous look on her face, "Well I for one hope there is another girl in this group. As much as I like you two, I feel outnumbered sometimes." She smirked, "Normally that would be a fun time on my world."
Lyle smacked her on the back of the head, "Enough with the innuendos. They want us there asap."
Both Christina and Setsuna nodded in understanding, Christina then smiling kindly at Setsuna, "You should get some rest. I can do the report. You did a good job out there." Setsuna couldn't help but smile lightly at that for a split second, before he went back to his even look. Christina shook her head at that. 'He doesn't respond to any flirting, but at least compliments work.'
Port of Mestare
Feldt sat down in the waiting area near the landing dock of the port of the hidden settlement located on the planet of Mestare. Around all the landing pads was a thick forest, the main port and trade center in a large clearing. Workers bustled around her, not taking any notice besides maybe a quick glance. Surrounded by a few bags and her tool kit, she looked around, a bit nervous. The port was friendly to the rebellion, but at the same time smugglers and other criminals tended to come here to lay low or trade their illicit goods. Her commander had said she would be left alone, but it still set off her alarms.
It also didn't help the redhead's outfit wasn't exactly the best for the hot climate of this planet. She wore a green t-shirt, which was a bit tight on her large chest, a gray vest with a hood that was currently up over that, and grey pants with riding boots. Her hair hung down in a loose ponytail to the bottom of her neck, though it was hidden by her vest, her two long bangs visible from the front. She had a blaster on her side, and the fabric band over her eye sockets was also building up a bit of sweat. The Miraluka girl played with one of her tools in her hands; it kept her calm enough to not look nervous outwardly.
Everyone around her was a mix of grey with flicks of red and blue, her force vision giving her a glimpse of who they were. Her parents had always explained to never fully rely on that, but she had never been good at that in general.
Shaking her head, she reflected on why she was here. Her former guardian and mentor had told her that she was being assigned to a new ship and team, hoping to allow Feldt to use her technical expertise to help on missions. 'My first team assignment.' Previously she had been assigned to work on rebel bases, which she wasn't opposed it, but there was a hint of excitement being able to travel around, even if it was on assigned missions.
She had ravenously studied the ship she had been assigned to once she learned what it was. The Decimator class ship was one of the heavily modified ones the Rebel Alliance used for deep infiltration operations, having been stolen from a shipyard from the imperials. It had certainly been given a lot of love and care. Faster engines and hyperdrive, guns with higher firepower. It had even been equipped with an experimental stealth drive, which she knew were highly touchy and required a lot of maintenance. Her nervousness disappeared at the thought, the challenge of keeping that up causing her to smile. Even the names of the crew assigned to it had escaped her mind once she read about all the modifications put on the ship.
As she unknowingly rocked side to side on the bench, an announcement came over the PA saying a ship was landing, and Feldt finally saw the ship she was going to be assigned to. It was a standard grey, and on the outside looked like nothing special, but she knew that wasn't what's important about it.
She grabbed her bags and began to walk over to the transport, awkwardly trying to hold a small one under her arm. She approached the boarding ramp on the side of the ship, taking a deep breath. There was a hiss as it opened, and she smiled, not wanting to make a bad impression.
At the top of the ramp, she saw a Corellian man, a Zeltron woman and Kiffar man, looking down at her curiously, though she could tell they were previously talk about something by the way the pink-skinned woman was pouting. But what caught her vision was the Kiffar, who she was drawn to, like she was a bug getting drawn to a light. He glowed like she had never seen before, the force flowing through him like lines in a spiderweb. She took a step forward, her arm lightly reaching out towards Setsuna, not words coming to her mind. A jumble of thoughts came to her mind, feeling comfort, familiarity, and hope. Hope burned brightly in her mind, finally finding someone like her after so long being alone, a warm ball in her chest as she couldn't help but blush looking at the handsome man. Her mother's words about finding someone she can connect and bond with jumping into her mind. 'I need to talk to him!'
With Setsuna, something twinged in the back of his mind as he looked at the redheaded woman below him, his eyes drawn to her like a magnet. His heart began to beat faster, and he swore he could almost hear her calling out to him. 'What is going on? Who is she?' This was all new to him, never having felt like this around anyone. He had had vague senses about things before, but he had chalked that up to his instincts. But this was beyond that. This woman had done nothing, yet her smile warmed him, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of…wholeness. 'Why is she causing this?'
Christina and Lyle looked between the two young adults, confused at what was going on. But after a second, Christina could sense something was going on between the two. There was a sense of comfort and warmness from both of them, causing Christina to smile warmly. She had never felt Setsuna this open, this friendly, this happy. It was minor, but it was something she couldn't help but love to feel. 'He found someone I see.'
Lyle just couldn't figure out what was going on. Sure she was a beautiful woman, but he had never stared at someone like that. Setsuna looked so confused, yet content. It was almost disturbing to see the normally evenly tempered and in control man looking like that.
Both Feldt and Setsuna shook their heads at the same time, the trance they were in breaking. Both were blushing as they looked away for a second, their eyes meeting again as they looked back. Christina spoke, jumping in like a reek in a glass shop, "Who are you?"
Feldt could see the warm smile on the Zeltron woman's face, taking a second to get her nerves after this, glancing at Setsuna before looking at Christina, "I'm Feldt Grace. I've been assigned to the ship as your engineer and tech expert." Both Christina and Lyle took notice of the blindfold, but the way she tracked them showed she wasn't blind. The same thought went through both of their heads. 'A Miraluka, huh?'
Lyle gestured for everyone to go down the ramp, the ground standing close to Feldt. Feldt was certainly shorter than Setsuna and Lyle, but she almost matched Christina's height. Lyle offered his hand, "I'm Lyle and this is Setsuna." He gestured towards the raven-haired man, who just nodded nervously. Lyle gave her a grin, "Welcome to the team. I can help-"
Christina elbowed Lyle, causing him to grunt in pain and smiling at Feldt, "Setsuna can help you get your bags and gear onboard, right Lyle?" There was an emphasis in her voice, which Lyle easily detected.
Resisting rolling his eyes, he saw Christina was up to something, so he just nodded at Setsuna, "She's right. Get her settled onboard and join us at the meeting room." Setsuna nodded and Lyle could tell he was still a bit out of it, even though it was not obvious. Lyle nodded at Feldt, "It's good to meet you."
Christina chirped up, "Same! I'm Christina!"
Feldt just nervously laughed as Christina began to shove Lyle away, getting further and further away. Lyle looked at Christina as they got out of earshot, "What the hell is going on?"
Christina was still smiling, harshly whispering, "There is something going on between the two and you aren't going to ruin it. Did you see his face? That is the face of a man falling for woman."
Lyle didn't know exactly what to say, so just sighed, "Already playing matchmaker I see. I suppose it wouldn't be the worst for getting him laid."
Christina just grinned, "I'm just going to help push it along is all." Lyle shook his head, but didn't say anything as he began to walk into the spaceport, towards their objective. Christina hummed happily behind him. 'This will be a fun mission.'
And as Feldt watched the two walk away, she saw Setsuna picking up her heavier bags and her tools, "Follow me. I can show you where these need to go." Feldt couldn't help but smile. She had not only found someone like her, but she had to admit he was kind of handsome. 'Don't get ahead of yourself. You have to get to know him first.' Setsuna just began to walk up the ramp, Feldt following him, nervous butterflies in both of their stomachs.
