Something Kraken is in the Air
The Atlantis group made their way to the shore of the fishing village, being right above them from the hill, parked their sub pods on the beach and put the spikes in to keep them from drifting away into the sea.
"Is it just me or this place does not feel any fishing vibes?" Aladdin asked as he looks around.
"It's not just you. It's like this place hasn't been good with either the fishes going bad or there hasn't been any fish coming here at all." Coco stated what it looks to her.
"It's not surprising. Not doubt that tentacle demon devoured the local fish stocks long ago." Kida guessed.
"But if the Kraken was hunting fish, then why is it still here?" Ruby asked.
"I fear it maybe because it doesn't just eat fish anymore." Weiss glared at the sea, fearing the worse theory that the Kraken eats people as well.
"That would explain why the villagers build their homes up there, not wanting to become the Kraken's food like the time I tried shooing away the wolves when I was hiking. Of course, it didn't help that had my hands covered in BBQ sauce when I was eating an early dinner snack." Sweet mentioned.
"Will the villagers even welcome us?" Kali concerned.
"I'm sure the folks there won't mind a sudden visit of outsiders." Sun shrugged, hoping it'll work out okay.
However, when the group got to the village, the people quickly ran into their homes and closed all the doors and windows as the group step foot onto their land.
"Guess they're not in the welcome mood." Oscar commented.
"Probably something has been "kraken" them up." Yang pointed out with a pun.
"Do you all mind if we hurry inside, Rajah is feeling very comfortable with all this awful around here." Jasmine said as the tiger himself is groaning of the awful smell in the air.
"Why do you accuse me of such things? I have bathed… recently. No appreciation for the fine cologne." Mole felt offended by that.
"Easy Mole, it isn't you she's talking about. This time." Sun said.
"Yeah, it's more like all of this mildew on this statue and… everywhere else for that matter. Everything else is wet from the fog." Oscar pointed out as he touches a mildew from the statue.
"It's like the people haven't come out to clean their own town in years." Neon commented, guessing that it must be the fear for the Kraken.
"Pretty ironic for them to fear the monster when they also know its name for an inn." Sienna gestured to the sign of the inn saying, "KRAKEN VERTSHUS" with a picture of an octopus that represents the Kraken attacking a boat.
"I'm getting the feeling that someone wants to use the Kraken for profits." Winter said.
"Ease yourselves, everyone. I sense three approaching us." Vine informed.
Aladdin and Mole look at Obby, being the only one that is not a normal thing on the surface and quickly have Rajah stand in front of the lava dog to hide him.
Three men approaches the group through the fog with one in the middle being an old man.
"Just so you know, we don't mean you any harm." Sun said.
"I am Edgar Volgud, the Magistrate of this town. What is your business here?" Edgar introduced himself and asked.
"Pleasure to meet you sir, my name is" Oscar tried to introduce himself pleasantly, but Edgar cut him off.
"I doubt there is anything in Krakenstad that concerns you." Edgar said.
"Rude." Yang said, not liking this guy already.
"And what about your town's pet that nearly sink our ship?" Kida demanded.
"Easy Kida, this town is already going through a lot because of the Kraken. We don't need to put some more stress on this old man." Weiss tried to calm Kida down.
However, Edgar doesn't appear to be fazed by Kida's little outburst as he remains composure.
"Your ships will be repaired in the shipyards of Tronheim." Edgar informed.
"Well, at least that's some good news." Velvet relieved to hear that.
"You should leave soon. The roads are treacherous after dark." Edgar advised.
"No worries, the guys can do the repairing without us. I think we're just gonna stick around here and take a look around, maybe find a good place for a scenery." Sun grinned as he walks around a little.
"Tronheim has an excellent view." Edgar insisted these "tourist" leave very soon, like now.
"I believe my beloved speaks for all of us, we'll be staying here for the night as well." Jasmine said, standing in front of the old man and looking at him in the eyes.
Edgar growls softly, he can tell that these people aren't going to budge, and he can't send his men to take him by force a little because they look stronger than they appear, so he decided to let them have their way.
"Miss Eliassen is the innkeeper here. She'll give you rooms for the night." Edgar gestured to the building with the Kraken sign.
"Great, anything else?" Sun asked.
"A drive will take you all to Tronheim tomorrow." Edgar said as he walks into the fog and vanished.
"Does anyone feel like we've been that man before?" Elm asked, scratching the back of her head.
"You mean the statue we just saw moments ago before the old man himself showed up out of nowhere like that?" Sweet asked, pointing at the statue with his thumb.
"Yes, which means he must be the town's founder somehow." Winter nodded as they walk in.
Then Obby rushes into the inn and settles himself in the fire inside the fireplace, feeling comfy like he's right at home.
"Whoa!" Oscar, Ruby, and Neon amazed.
"Lava dogs are born in molten rocks, it's no surprise they want to be in something hot." Velvet smiled.
"Obby, you should have at least done that in a more elegant manner." Weiss scolded.
"So, about Edgar and the statue, do you really think there's a connection between the two?" Sweet asked.
"I do sense something off with his spirit, almost like how you Atlantian feels with your lifespans." Vine mentioned having sense Edgar when he showed up.
"But then that would mean he must be really old, all the way to the time when this town was first founded." Sun surprised.
"Does that mean he somehow gain immortality?" Oscar asked.
"They say he made a deal with the devil to live forever but forgot to ask for eternal youth." A woman said with a straight face.
"Oh, you must be Miss Eliassen. I hope you don't mind having so many people here in one place." Winter greeted politely to the innkeeper.
"I can assure you, it is no trouble at all. Now drink up, this will drive the fog from your bones." Miss Eliassen offered some cups which everybody thanks her.
"So, is there anything you can tell us about the town and Edgar, Miss Eliassen?" Oscar asked curiously.
"Call me Inger." Inger revealed her name.
"There is a darkness around Edgar Volgud, and that shadow has dimmed all that was happy here. We would leave, but this inn is all we have. It's no place for me to raise my little one." Inger explained in a sad tone.
"Almost like how we went through after the Great Fold." Kali compared the two things, except her people had to live for 9,000 years while here it's generations.
"Things will not change here until its power is broken." Inger said.
"What do you mean by that?" Oscar asked.
"I think it could be either the Kraken or Edgar." Jasmine said with a narrow glance at Inger.
"How about you let the woman go prepare the rooms for us, she is running an inn after all." Sun suggested to drop the subject while the woman is here.
"Yes, I will go prep the rooms." Inger nodded and walk up the stairs but stop for a moment.
"But do not cross Edgar Volgud. And leave as soon as you can." Inger warned before going up to the rooms.
"Yep, something off is definitely going on here and it's not the weird smell." Sweet commented.
"This investigation is going to take all of us to get through if we want to know what is truly going on here." Jasmine said as Rajah growls at the window.
"Ah, the tiger has agreed that Volgud is not to be trusted." Mole informed.
"Then we know what to do. Follow that old man." Sun said with his eyes glowing gold for a second.
(Nighttime)
Night has come to the Krakenshad with everyone in town being sleep, most trying to pray for a goodnight sleep when they're worried about a certain sea monster living close to them.
All except for one old man.
Edgar is seen walking through the darkness of night with only a single lantern as a source of light.
"And there he goes." Yang said.
"Come on, we need to follow him!" Sun said.
"Be sure to follow his lantern." Oscar ordered.
"Sienna, I hope you don't mind me asking but do you think Edgar could be involve with what's happening to the town?" Willow asked the military woman.
"In my experience, sometimes what doesn't look like a threat can also be something feared and could endanger you if not careful. When you feel like having your guard up, do it and don't let it down no matter what." Sienna advised.
"You are one hard woman!" Sun complimented.
"Thank you." Sienna smiled at her monkey boyfriend.
While walking to try following Edgar to wherever he's going, they suddenly started hearing something from within the fog, it's certainly creepy for Ruby and Neon feeling scared while Velvet is trying to make out what that is.
"Does anyone hear that?" Ruby asked.
"It could be the people, but I highly doubt that since they never came out of their homes when we arrived." Weiss said.
"Just keep your guard up." Coco advised.
"Well, if my own instincts are right then Edgar must be connected to the Kraken. We just gotta find out what that is and put a stop to it before it becomes worse for this town." Oscar said.
"Yeah, I thought so too… But now we lost him." Coco pointed forward that the light of the lantern is gone.
"What? Where did the old guy go?" Yang shocked.
"I please tell me someone saw something because I can't see anything through this fog!" Yang tried to search for the old man but can't see with the fog and the darkness.
"No, we were watching forward, and the light went down. That must mean Edgar turn off his lantern, probably because knows he was being followed." Winter said.
"But that would leave us with no way of knowing where he went." Willow worried.
"Maybe we should try again later, like in the morning and back at the inn. I don't like being out here." Neon said, holding onto Oscar.
"Except I can't see the village anymore." Aladdin pointed out.
"Oh great, now we're lost." Yang exclaimed.
"Let's not panic, we need to find a way back to the village." Sweet said.
"But what about Volgud? We can't lose track of him otherwise we'll never find out the mystery behind this town and the Kraken." Elm said.
"Hold on, maybe I can see through this fog with my Golden Sight." Sun said as he closes his eyes and opens them again to activate his power of the Golden Monkey.
In Sun's golden view, the fog itself appears to be glowing pale light green with tiny white sparkles almost like they're stars.
"Whoa, guys! I don't know what exactly I'm seeing, but this is no ordinary fog because I am seeing something weird about this." Sun alerted.
"Really? What do you see?" Oscar asked curiously.
"But, huh, try to make it less creepy when you explain it." Ruby said.
"Sorry, but this fog is definitely creepy almost like this fog isn't even natural." Sun said, making Ruby groan in fear.
"Do you see where Volgud went to?" Winter asked.
"I don't see him, but I do see something that might be a clue. Follow me." Sun said as he moves forward, and everyone quickly follows him.
But Mole notice something about the ground that doesn't feel right until he got a closer look and gasp.
"What's up, Mole? Step on a bug or something?" Aladdin asked.
"Oh, it is something alright!" Mole said in a worried tone.
"Sun, you must be careful and stop!" Mole called out to the blonde monkey boy.
"Stop? What do you mean stop?" Sun asked.
"I checked the ground, and you are heading for a cliff!" Mole shouted.
"Cliff?" Sun shocked.
But it was already too late as Sun now finds himself falling down from the cliff with Jasmine and the others barely able to stop themselves from falling over.
"Sun!" Jasmine called out.
Sun quickly slammed his staff onto the side of the cliff to stop himself from falling down even further, and shaking a little though none the less, the monkey man is safe until he suddenly feels his Golden Monkey power acting up again.
(Golden Vision)
The Golden Monkey was sent flying and crashed onto the side of the cliff with his back as he groans in pain, but he stabs his staff onto the side to make it a makeshift pole.
"Think you can beat me like that?" The Golden Monkey asked the Kraken as it roars at him.
"Sorry, but I won't be going down so easily! I have the whole still to see!" The Golden Monkey smirked.
The Golden Monkey jumps from the cliff and twirls his staff around fast to ready himself to unleash one strong attack that should put this giant octopus down for good, but the Kraken wasn't going to let him do whatever he was planning to do.
The Kraken launches its tentacles at the monkey man to strangle and squeeze the life out of him, but the Golden Monkey parries and dodges them and even sliding down on one.
The Golden Monkey jumps at the Kraken and thrusts his staff forward right at the middle.
(Golden Vision End)
"Another vision, and it feels like the background is… familiar." Sun looked over to the hole where he made with his staff, but upon closer inspection realized this hole was made a long time ago.
"Sun! Are you okay?" Jasmine called out.
"Better get back to the others. They are not going to believe this." Sun said.
Sun climbs his way back up the cliff and back to the group, he told them about having a vision of the previous Golden Monkey fighting the Kraken and it was here in this very cliffside.
"Okay, that's freaky!" Aladdin commented.
"I have so many questions right now." Oscar said.
"That can wait, I think I know where we can find Edgar now." Sun said as he marches in the direction back to the inn.
(With Inger)
Inger is setting up plates before she goes to make dinner in the kitchen, but then she gasps when she sees Edgar come in.
"Gather the possessions of the strangers and burn them." Edgar ordered.
Rajah roars with Obby growling which got the old man's attention as he turns around to see Sun and his group are here.
"Sorry, if you were expecting us to take a hick then you got another thing coming." Sun said as he glows golden of his Golden Monkey aura.
Edgar growled upon feeling the light and just walks away but was stopped by Yang.
"And where do you think you're going?" Yang asked.
"Forget him, Yang. He's not the one we're after, but if he does give us any reason to do so, then you can beat him up." Sun said.
Yang really wanted to beat up Edgar for trying to lead them to a cliff, but she decided to trust Sun on this one and let him go. Edgar turns around glaring at Sun before leaving the inn.
"(Yeah, this guy is definitely involved with the Kraken.)" Sun thought looked at him with his Golden Sight, seeing Edgar in the same color as the fog from before.
KO a new chapter is done and hope you all enjoy it!
Sun and his group were almost thrown off a cliff, but it looks like Sun was able to see something with the Golden Vision that is going to help the group get closer to finding out more about the Kraken and the kind of man Edgar really is.
