Things are constantly changing in wrestling. They have for Ricardo, multiple times over the years. He's gone from being an indy wrestler to a ring announcer to a commentator/interviewer, back to the indys. And now, well. Now he's a trainer/wrestler/whatever people need. And it works, better than most roles he's had in the past. Still, it's a lot to absorb sometimes. Not that he'd change it for the world.
Wrestling is the most frustrating, rewarding thing he's ever experienced, and now that he's finally found something he can do and be legitimately proud of, especially after finally achieving hard fought sobriety, it's made every other piece of his life finally click into place too.
So he watches Adam Copeland debut in AEW and smiles, because change is good. Change is healthy, and it encourages a better wrestling scene for all of them, one that evolves and grows with the time. He's not sure if his three children will be interested in wrestling when they're older, or if they'll find other passions of their own someday, but he hopes that whatever they want to do will be as fascinating and as challenging as wrestling. Just not too challenging, no one should be as hurt or angry with their loves as he has been in the past.
When Alicia joins him, a surprised look on her face as she sees Adam Copeland on TV, he smiles over at her and laces their fingers together, squeezing lightly. Besides his passion had given him the love of his life, and he could never regret it for that reason alone.
"I love you," Ricardo murmurs after awhile, Alicia looking over at him with a soft smile.
"I love you too," she says, leaning in to kiss him.
He smiles and rests his forehead against hers, breathes in slowly, vows to enjoy moments like these more thoroughly from here on out.
