Chapter 1
A Broken Memory
"Where am I?"
He laid on the ground as he felt the freezing snow on his back, the snow gently landing on his nose as it tickled it. It was cold, so cold that he could see his own breath.
The boy sat up as he looked around to him surrounded by a forest. He felt the cold gracing his hands as he stood up. He didn't know where he was at, nor did he recognize anything.
The boy walked towards a frozen lake as he kneeled down to see the ice reflecting his image. Freckles that formed a diamond, black hair with green highlights. The boy looked up as he saw the world before him. As if he was a newborn, not knowing anything about the world.
But alas, he kept on walking. Trying to find something, someone to be exact but he didn't know who or why. He just kept moving forward.
Schicksal HQ
"What's going on, what's happening?"
The man opened his eyes as his red eyes opened to see bubbles in front of him, but as he focused his vision. He saw a man staring at him, a man with blonde, long hair with ambitious green eyes.
"A strange specimen you are, a man holding a Herrscher core within his body," the man walked forward to the test pod as he placed his hands on the glass.
"I wonder, what kind of Herrscher are you,?"
"A Herrscher?... what is that… and who am I… how did I… get here?"
?
The boy kept wandering, to find an answer to his onslaught of questions that consumed his mind, he walked and walked for hours, hoping to find something to ease his growing curiosity.
The only things he could see was the white snow and the trees that were surrounding him, as if he was forever trapped in this white hollow forest. He walked and walked as he then heard a growl as he turned to see a wolf approaching him, he took a step back as he didn't know why it was looking at him like that.
He tried to run away from it, but he was completely surrounded. A pack of wolves found its next prey. The boy felt fear consume him, he backed up onto a rock as he watched the wolves closing in.
He breathed heavily, afraid what might happen to him, he then saw a wolf pounce towards him. As if on instinct he ducked under the wolf as he ran as fast as he could.
He could hear multiple footsteps behind him as the crunching of the snow was all he could hear behind him.
He ran and ran, hoping to lose the hungry wolves. He kept running, only to find out that he was running out of breath, he once started to slow down as he was growing tired, his heartbeat paced. His legs started to feel sore as he kept running. His vision blurred as he kept running and running. He then felt a heavy weight land on his back as he turned to see a wolf on his back as he then swiftly swiped it off.
The boy then felt his leg get bitten as he screamed in pain. He shook it off as he then limped away.
He could feel tears streaming down his face as he continued to limp until he turned only to be pinned down by a wolf. The boy looked at it in fear as he only saw death. He wanted to get away but fear struck his body, unable to move, he could only watch as the wolf was about to bite down on his neck.
"Izu—,"
The boy widened his eyes as words played into his mind. His mind cleared as if he was stopping time itself
"One—for—All,"
The boy then lifted his right arm out as energy surged through it as he then looked at the wolf and gave it a right hook. Sending it flying back. He felt the wind blow as it caused the snow to fly around. But little did he know, the boy killed the wolf in one punch, and a massive crater was made, leaving a trail of destruction. The boy stood up as the wolves stepped back as they saw something inside the boy, a blazing flame as if they could see many souls behind the young boy.
The energy he used on that punch took a lot out of the boy as he felt his boy crumble under the weight of the power he used, he didn't know what he did nor how he did that, he was scared and terrified. He was lost and confused, the wolves beside him were frozen in fear.
They ran away as the boy watched them scurry off in the distance as the snow cloaked their figures. He breathed heavily as he then winced in pain as he stumbled on his bottom, he was bleeding on his leg, his eyes started to slowly give out as he then passed out in the snow.
But before his eyes closed, he saw a faint flaming figure in front of him, a golden flame that was bright, he could barely see it but he could've sworn it was speaking to him.
—
Henry was an old man going on walks in the forest even though it was snowing, he still found his way back into the city, he enjoyed the walks in the forest, making him forget about the impending eradicating beast that hunted down Humanity. The forest was his comfort place, his grandchildren all worry about him but he comes home everyday fine as if nothing ever happened. But today was different, while he stumbled into the forest again. One thing he saw out of the ordinary was a trail of blood on the snow.
Henry was worried that someone might have gotten attacked by wildlife or by Honkai Beasts. Henry pulled out his gun as he wanted to make sure he wasn't getting into trouble. He followed the trail of blood as he also saw multiple wolf tracks.
Henry deduced that the wolves were hunting for food as he then noticed that the trail of blood stopped as a tree. Henry saw a large lump under the snow but also noticed a massive crater that led towards the mountain. He was shocked to see this and what kind of beast made this, whatever was under the lump of snow was dangerous.
He was hesitant at first but he then dug under the snow only to find a young boy unconscious and cold under the layer of snow.
The old man was shocked and confused, why was a young boy like him out in the snow, or even here in the first place. The man couldn't leave the boy alone as he carried the boy on his back. As he carried the unconscious boy back to the city, to his home.
?
The boy slowly opened his eyes as he saw a brown roof under his head as he slowly got up, he looked around to see he was in a cabin. He looked at his keg as it was wrapped in bandages. The boy tried to move but, "I wouldn't move young man, your leg is still healing,"
The boy turned to see an old man with a bowl of rice and soup on a tray as he walked towards the boy.
He sat down next to the bed where the boy was laying. He sent it down on a drawer right next to the bed. He then grabbed the bowl of rice as he handed it to the boy.
"Here, you must be hungry,"
The boy stared at it as heard his stomach growl. The boy then grabbed it out of Henry's hand. Henry smiled as he saw the boy eating to his heart content.
"So, what's your name, and what were you doing out in the middle of the forest," Henry asked.
The boy looked at him confused, "My…name…"
The boy didn't know, he didn't even know why he was here or there in the first place. But what was worse was that he didn't even know his name.
But then a memory stayed with him,
"That will be my only salvation! Izuku Mi-"
Izuku held his head as it started to hurt, he struggled to remember anything.
"You must have amnesia, it's fine if-"
"Izuku… I think that's my name,"
Henry smiled, "Well that's a start, don't worry about the other memories, they'll come eventually,"
Izuku nodded as he looked down at the bowl, the question never left his mind, what was he doing, why was he here? What was he doing before he got here? So many questions and yet none of them were answered. Henry got up as he then walked to another drawer as he pulled some clothes out, they were torn and tattered, as if the person who was wearing the clothes were in a rough battle.
Henry walked up to the boy as he looked at him with worry, "When I found you, you were wearing these clothes and also some equipment on your arms," Izuku looked at them as he noticed it was black with yellow lines on them, he then looked at the gloves that Henry was holding, he noticed that it was very complex for a glove, as if it was supposed to fire something out of them. Izuku looked up to Henry as he shook his head.
Henry sighed, "Well it was worth a shot, oh by the way, my name is Henry Forthbright,"
Henry then left the clothes and equipment on the drawer next to the bed as he then headed for the door, "I'll be back, just rest for a while okay?"
Izuku nodded as he then laid in bed as he was exhausted, but still he wanted to know, where was he? Who was he? Izuku slowly started to drift into a slumber as he then fell asleep. Henry watched as he saw the kid go to sleep. Henry walked into the kitchen as he then grabbed his phone and dialed a number.
The ringing was heard when he dialed the number, the phone clicked as a voice could be heard,
"Hello? Grandpa?"
"Faith, please come by at my place, I need your help,"
—
Faith Forthbright, a woman in her early twenties. She was worried about her grandfather, the fact that she got a random call from him. As a Valkyrie, it's her duty to protect people but also to help her grandfather. And the way he was talking to her was worrisome to her. She was on her way to a friend's when she got the call. Her grandfather loved to live in the woods and it was worse when it was snowing because you never know what could happen in the forest.
She sighed as she stopped at the driveway of her grandfather's house. She got out of her car as she then walked up to the house as she knocked on the door.
"Grandpa? Are you there?"
The door opened as she saw her grandfather.
"Grandpa, did you get attacked by a Honkai Beast?" She expressed her worry but she noticed that he didn't have any injuries or did he have a worried expression more like a serious one instead of his carefree expression.
"Nothing of the sorts but you might want to follow me,"
Her grandfather led the way as she followed him in confusion as he opened the door to the guest room. She looked into the room to see a green haired boy sleeping soundly as she saw tattered clothes next to him.
She widened her eyes as she turned to her grandfather, "What the hell Grandpa?"
Henry shrugged, "I found him in the middle of the forest covered in snow,"
Faith looked at her grandfather as she sighed as she looked at the boy.
"But the problem is that he has amnesia,"
Faith widened her eyes as she looked worried, "So how are we supposed to find his family,"
"Well I did get his name, it's Izuku,"
"No last name?"
"I don't think he remembers,"
Faith rubbed her forehead, today was her day off and now she has to deal with a boy who doesn't remember who he is.
"Alright I stay here for a bit and help,"
Henry smiled, "Thank you Faith,"
With Izuku
Izuku was surrounded by blackness as he felt a weight on his chest as he looked at it, his chest was on fire, burning brightly as if it was something of a torch. The flames were multicolored as if it signified something.
A voice could be heard through the flames.
"Young man, you too can become a hero,"
Izuku then opened his eyes as he was now back to reality. He lifted himself up as he peered out the window as it was already night time.
"Oh you're awake,"
Izuku looked towards the direction of the voice to see a girl with ash blonde hair that reached down to her shoulder. She seemed to be in her mid-twenties.
Izuku was confused, 'Who is she?'
"My name is Faith, my grandpa brought you in and he called me to see if you're alright,"
Izuku nodded as he tried to get up, "Ah, wait let me check your leg real quick,"
Faith pulled the blanket off to see his leg as it was wrapped neatly and tight so that the blood wouldn't leak out.
She then pulled out a syringe as she then looked at him for consent. Izuku nodded his head and she injected it into him as he flinched a bit. He then felt the pain go away as he then looked at his leg in shock as she unwrapped the bandages. It was healed, completely how it was.
He moved his leg around in shock.
"Latest heal technology does wonders," Faith spoke up.
She noticed scars on his right hand as if it was busted up many times. She then lifted up his right arm as Izuku felt embarrassed as he flushed.
She scanned his arm as she rolled up his sleeve to see an even bigger one that reached his shoulder to his elbow.
"How did you get these scars?"
Izuku shook his head, "I… don't remember,"
Faith looked at the boy solemnly as the door behind her opened.
"I brought some food for you both,"
Faith turned as she smiled, "Thanks Grandpa,"
Henry turned to Izuku, "How are you doing?
Izuku flexed his leg and arms, "I'm fine right now, sorry for the trouble I caused,"
Henry shook his head, "It's fine do not worry about it,"
Faith looked at Izuku, "It's best if you stay here for awhile until your memories comeback to you,"
Izuku nodded as he looked at Henry, "I can help around if I can,"
Henry rubbed his chin, "Well I do need help with some errands tomorrow, we can do that,"
Izuku nodded as he smiled, "I would gladly help,"
Faith smiled as she got up, "Alright, I'm going to head out now, I work tomorrow, I'll see you next time,"
She waved them goodbye as she headed out of the cabin.
Henry turned to Izuku, "Well tomorrow is going to be a busy day, so gets some rest,"
Schicksal HQ
"Overseer, is it true that this man has a Herrscher core inside of him," a blonde woman asked as she wore a white armor with blue outlines on them as her lance was behind her.
"Indeed Durandal, this man also appears to have something else that I can't figure out,"
He was scanning through the biometrics of the man in the pod, "It would appear he has other powers as well, one without Honkai Energy,"
He then looked at the man as he approached the pod.
The man on the other side looked at him as well as he was confused and annoyed at how long he had been in the test tube.
During his time in the pod, he could remember a faint but broken memory, one that has made him aware that he may not have all of his memories.
"I will stop you! But I won't ignore the child crying inside,"
A voice that made him irritated. Something was itching, it was his neck as if he had the urge to just destroy anything.
But another part of the man found peace in that voice, hope and reassurance in those words as if it was something that he needed to be stopped.
All these questions filled his mind but one thing was for certain.
His name was…
"S-001,"
Was that his name? No, it couldn't have been he needed to know who he was and what that voice was about. But before he woke up, he heard two names that resonated within him.
Tenko and Shigaraki.
A Few Days Later
Izuku has gotten used to the way of living with Henry as he helped around his house, cleaning, and carrying wood.
Henry was surprised at how much strength the boy actually had. He carried a whole log by himself without breaking a sweat. Faith came by from time to time to check up on Izuku, still though his memories were still lost, occasionally would come in broken fragments.
Izuku didn't know what they were but it was a start to remember who he was, his origin.
As Izuku placed the last log on the ground as he wiped a sweat drop from his forehead. He looked at his work as he nodded, "I think that's enough for today,"
He then headed back to the cabin to see Faith and Henry talking. He walked towards them as they both noticed him.
"Oh, hello Izuku," Henry greeted him and Faith waved at him as he waved at them back. Before he could head inside he heard them whispering as Faith was lecturing him.
"Um, hold on Izuku," Henry stopped him.
Izuku stopped and looked at the two as Faith elbowed her grandfather; he just sighed and looked Izuku in the eye.
"Izuku, Faith thinks its a good idea for you to go to the city and experience life there,"
Izuku widened his eyes in shock, "The city?"
Henry nodded, "She is a Valkyrie so she has ties, she can help you get a nice place to stay and a job that can help you get through, possibly in a school for you"
Izuku thought about this, staying here was relaxing but it wasn't helping him find his memories. If he was going to find his memories, why not go to the city. It may trigger something within.
Izuku thought long and hard about it as he then looked at the two and nodded, "I think that's a good idea, it could help me get my memories back if possible,"
Faith smiled as Henry nodded, "Alright, pack your things, we'll leave tomorrow to the city,"
Izuku nodded but he also had a question as he looked at Faith, "By the way Faith, what's a Valkyrie?"
Then Henry and Faith looked at each other as they then smacked their foreheads, as if they were ridiculing themselves for not explaining a known thing in the world.
Hyperion
Clashing and explosions could be heard in a training room as a girl with white hair that was braided into a twin ponytail. She breathed heavily as she was surrounded by a bunch of metal scraps from the robots that she defeated. She breathed slowly as she then stowed away her two pistols. She looked at the havoc she caused as she then pressed a button on a hologram. It cleared the room in an instant as she then turned around and exited the training room.
"Kiana, your pushing yourself too much,"
A woman with slight purplish hair confronted the girl named Kiana.
She smiled as she waved at her, "I'm fine Fu Hua, it's really nothing,"
She walked past Fu Hua as the latter looked worried, she was pushing herself. Maybe it was because of Mei, the fight they had made Kiana more distant and hurt.
She fought only to lose to her, and at the cost of her joining the World Serpent. She even saved Fu Hua from eternal suffering but the separation between the two friends hurt her more. Fu Hua couldn't see her like this.
Fu Hua followed the girl as they both entered the main hall where Bronya, a girl with curly gray pigtails and a woman that was almost the size of Bronya, the principal and leader of Anti-Entropy, Theresa.
The two were looking at a screen, as Kiana and Fu Hua were curious on what they were looking at.
"What's the matter?" Fu Hua asked.
"There seems to be two energy signals, two signify a glimpse of Herrscher energy,"
Kiana walked up, "Do we know what kind of Herrscher it is,"
Bronya shook her head, "My system isn't getting a correct result, but we know the two locations,"
"Where?" Fu Hua asked.
"One at Schicksal HQ," Theresa stated as there was some spite in her voice. Well it's to be expected when Otto Apocalypse kidnapped Kiana and turned her to the Herrscher of the Void and caused the 3rd Honkai Invasion.
"What do you think Otto is up to,"
"Who knows but knowing grandpa, it isn't good,"
Kiana then looked at another location pinpointed on the map.
"And the other one?"
Bronya zoomed in on the location, "It was near a forest but the signature died a few days ago but it was a massive spike,"
Kiana looked at the location again,
"Hashbal City"
Mei read it out loud as she stood in front of Kevin and Raven.
"Indeed, we got a massive spike outside the city, a Herrscher energy signal appeared there a few days ago, you and Raven will investigate and search for the Herrscher," Kevin ordered.
Mei nodded as she sighed.
Raven and Mei walked out of the room they were as they got ready to go to the city they were assigned.
"Man, why of all days did it have to be on my day off," Raven complained.
Mei just scoffed, "Well, we better finish it quick so you can enjoy your vacation with Sora,"
Raven just glared at her, "Oh shush you,"
They got their equipment as Mei was grabbing some stuff until a picture fell out of her locker, she grabbed it to see her friends back at St. Freya. Oh how she wished to go back to the old days, where she can enjoy the times that they had. But it was all too late for that now, she was Herrscher now and she was now a part of the World Serpent.
They walked out of the building as they got into a car as Raven drove.
"Do you know what Herrscher it is,"
Raven shook her head, "All we got was that it was comparable to a Herrscher,"
"I see," Mei looked out the window as she watched the buildings pass them.
She then heard ringing as she looked at Raven to see she was calling someone.
"Who are you calling?"
"A fellow Valkyrie that is stationed there, she can help us,"
Mei nodded as she then continued to stare out of the window. 'A New Herrscher… that shouldn't be possible,"
With Izuku
Izuku set the last box down as he stared into the empty room that was now his apartment, he couldn't help but feel something inside of him welling up, he stepped into the room as he absorbed what was going on.
Izuku looked at his apartment as he examined the space he was in, a small kitchen with a living room next to it as he looked at a door that led to a bathroom as he then walked over to the window to see the outside, snow falling down.
He looked at the box as he started to unpack but when he opened the box, he noticed the outfit that he wore when Henry found him.
The Green suit with red metallic bandages and white damaged gloves and a tattered yellow scarf. He didn't know why he held on to it, it was damaged and burnt. But he kept it anyway. He felt like it was a lost memory that he couldn't just toss away. He felt the need to keep it close to him, especially the scarf.
He looked outside as the snow was hitting the ground, he was in an unknown area with nothing to remember or to call to. He was lost with his broken memories.
Until a sudden memory called back to him a faint one but it was there, a figure floating above him, the figure stared down on him with glowing orange eyes but they were not warm, they were cold as night as a single swipe of her hand, everything around him vanished in an instant.
Izuku opened his eyes in a panic as he looked at the suit one more time. He didn't know what that was but it felt real to him, maybe that's what happened to him and why he couldn't remember anything.
"Izuku? Come on, we have to get you to the place before it closes,"
"I'll be right there!"
He then grabbed the suit and the equipment as he placed them on a table as he then grabbed a jacket and slipped into a pair of red sneakers as he then walked out of his apartment, unknown to anything about this world. Not knowing what might come to him but his broken memories are the only thing that remains with him.
