KNOCK BEFORE GOING TO THE BATHROOM
Once again, Gintoki was swiftly met with the claws of death. Canarie's steel fingers wrapped around the front of his face and squeezed the life from his body. She was using so much force that Gintoki swore that she was going to crack his head open like a watermelon.
"I'm sorry, but did I hear you wrong? Did you say you fired her?! Kicked her out! Told her she was unwanted and a mistake?" Canarie said with a low growl, a temper that couldn't be tamed even as Shinpachi tried to pull her off.
Gintoki cried out with pain while trying to free his face from her deadly grip. "Are you delusional?! I didn't say all that!"
"You still fired her! Which basically means the same thing!" she shouted in protest.
"You delusional bitch!"
Shinpachi used every ounce of strength to try and get the former assassin to release his grip, fearing that he would've witnessed a bloodbath if he didn't stop them from fighting.
"You don't know shit about people!" she raged. "You don't get to decide what a person wants to do with their life!"
"I sent some runaway brat back to her dad! What's wrong about that?"
Canarie had never looked so mad yet so upset at the same time. She shoved Shinpachi off her and grabbed Gintoki by his collar, pulling them face to face. "She was here because she loved it here, you brain dead, hyper-ultra dumbass!" she shrieked like a banshee.
"Cana-san!" Shinpachi shouted and finally yanked her away. "Just…leave it alone. Since he had already made his decision… we'll just quit too!"
Canarie growled under her breath and pulled Shinpachi's arm off her. She watched him as he turned around, hung his head, and walked right out the door.
"And to think…I considered you a close friend." Canarie muttered under her breath and turned to leave as well.
Gintoki scoffed. "If you wanna leave, than leave. You, Kagura, and Shinpachi…I don't remember asking for either of you to help." he said dismissively.
Suddenly, Canarie lunged at him again, reaching her hand out. Gintoki flinched and closed his eyes, but when he felt nothing, he slowly opened them and saw Canarie standing in front of him, head down. Her entire body shook as she clenched her hands tightly, and Gintoki swore he saw something trickling down her cheeks.
"Canarie…?" Gintoki said, reaching out to her.
Canarie didn't wait around to hear what he had to say. She turned on her heel and swiftly left the room building, leaving Gintoki standing here with his arm still outstretched. His face was riddled with guilt and unanswered questions.
Shuffling could be heard, and Gintoki looked over and saw Sadaharu peeking out through the sliding doors.
"What?" Gintoki spoke up, his arms falling loosely at his side. "You got something to say too? Careful or I won't feed you." He turned his back to the giant beast. "If you want to go, then you can go too. Kagura was the one who took care of you, and she's not here anymore." He suddenly felt Sadaharu nudging him with his nose. "What? I said she's not here-" he paused when he saw an envelope hanging from his mouth.
Curious, Gintoki squatted down and grabbed the letter. He looked over it and knew that Kagura had written it.
Shinpachi ran behind Canarie as they infiltrated the Terminal. He was in awe at Canarie's focused desperation as she took down staff in a matter of moments. Some members didn't even have time to process that someone had walked into the room before being clotheslined by Canarie's sheath sword the next second.
Canarie was efficient in every sense of the world.
Canarie clicked her tongue as she focused ahead, seeing more arms of security. "Ugh…this is taking to long!" she hissed out. "Shinpachi! I'm going on ahead!"
"Huh? Ah! Cana-San!" Shinpachi cried out after her, but Canarie was far too quick for him and pulled ahead by passing all arms of security with grace and speed, just like a ghost. "Don't leave me here!"
As he had expected, two men quickly grabbed Shinpachi's arms and stopped him from proceeding any further.
"Wait! Please listen to me! My…uh, my girlfriend is having a manic episode and need to stop her!" Shinpachi lied as he struggled to get himself free.
"Stop lying! That wasn't your girlfriend just now! I bet you've had never had a girlfriend in 16 years!" a security guard argued with him.
"What does that mean? How'd you know how old I was!?"
This was frustrating and humiliating all at once. Shinpachi's mind was a storm of worry with only Kagura on his head. He was just as desperate as Canarie was. He didn't want to see her go under these circumstances. Shinpachi doesn't know what her life was like before coming here or how Umibozu treated her. Yet, he knew one thing for certain. He knew that Kagura liked Earth. She loved being around Gintoki and Canarie. He knew all this because he felt the exact same way.
With every ounce of strength and frustration, Shinpachi stuck two fingers up both the security guard's noses and flipped them onto their backs.
"Sorry!" Shinpachi cried out as he ran ahead.
Kagura slumped in her seat and gazed out the window. Not seeing much aside from the inner walls of the Terminal. Her heart felt heavy, but she didn't say anything, not even to her father, who had finally decided to come out of the bathroom after a fierce battle with his bowels.
"Damn, that really sucked…" Omibozu said, rubbing his hand over his churning stomach. "Lisen to me, Kagura-chan-"
"Kagura!" the door leading into the ship suddenly burst open, and Canarie shuffled through. She breathed heavily and leaned against the frame, ignoring everyone's worried eyes as the woman tried to catch her breath.
Kagura immediately sat up, her eyes wide with shock. "Cana-chan…?"
Canarie looked up and quickly rushed to Kagura, grabbing her shoulders. "Kagura, please listen to me. If you wish to leave, you can…but hear me out first." She took a breath."Gintoki…is an idiot. He doesn't know what he's saying half the time, and he doesn't know how to be honest with himself. He never pays any of us, so…why do we have to listen to him? I can only handle him in small doses. So please… don't leave on such a bitter note like this one," Canarie urged, her voice strained with emotions that she held behind clenched teeth.
Kagura didn't say anything at first and just stared at Canarie. She had never once seen her so panicked and desperate before. It was nearly startling but also comforting. Before she knew it, Kagura had started to tear up.
"Cana-san…" she whimpered, suddenly wrapping her arms tightly around Canarie.
Canarie felt like she could breathe again and petted Kagura's head. She looked up and made eye contact with Umibozu. His eyes were just as thick with emotions as Kagura's.
Canarie was about to open her mouth when she caught sight of something on the other side of the window, like slimy tentacles climbing up the glass. They pushed hard against it, and the window started to spiderweb into a million little cracks. And before anyone could react, the glass shattered, and the tentacles invaded the ship.
