Zero jolted awake, gasping for breath, and groaned as he felt the pounding headache in his temples. He struggled to remember the nightmare that had left him feeling so exhausted and tired, but it remained elusive. All he could recall was the pain in his head, as if he'd bumped it on something hard. He longed for a peaceful sleep, devoid of dreams or nightmares, and closed his eyes, pulling the blanket tightly around himself.
Outside, the chilly winter air enveloped the city of Tokyo. The neighborhood bustled with its usual daily activities. The house next door stood empty, its residents already gone for the day. Tokyo's streets were bustling with people of all kinds, each heading in different directions. Shops and stores opened up, adding to the symphony of noises that defined the city's daily life.
Back in Zero's room, the loud slam of an alarm clock echoed as he slammed it against the wall. He had barely closed his eyes for a few minutes when he noticed the time displayed on the grinning face of his Doraemon alarm clock.
It was already past 10 a.m.?
Zero's eyes widened in shock. He was late. The damn alarm clock hadn't woken him up like it usually did with its first ring. How deeply had he slept, and how long had that strange dream lasted?
Zero rushed through his morning routine, taking a quick shower, throwing on his school uniform, and grabbing Bloody Rose before leaving the house without bothering to eat breakfast. Fortunately, he had done his laundry a few days ago and had a winter coat to shield him from the chilly weather today.
He arrived at the train platform a few minutes later, but his frustration mounted when he saw the train pulling away just as he arrived.
Dammit all!
This delay was likely due to the persistent headache that still throbbed in his head. Now he was very late and had to wait for the next train. The mere thought of it intensified his headache, and Zero rubbed his temples, trying to soothe the pain. It was then that a voice near his ear startled him.
"Ze... ro... What are you... doing?" Kaito Takamiya slowly inquired, leaning closer to Zero's ear.
"Kaito! What the heck?!" Zero turned to his friend, seemingly ready to strangle him, unwilling to deal with any additional headaches. However, Kaito quickly slipped away, laughing at Zero's reaction.
"Hahaha... Zero, you're in a pretty foul mood today. Even a prefect like you managed to be late. Nice going."
"Shut up, Kaito! Don't make me shoot you. You're late too. Did you spend the whole night playing video games again?"
"Hai. Hai." Kaito replied, unable to deny it to Zero.
Although they had known each other for a long time as fellow hunters, there were aspects of Zero's life that remained a mystery to Kaito, particularly concerning his childhood. Yagari-sensei had never shared any information when he introduced the two, and Zero had kept silent on the matter.
"Hey, there's the train." Kaito pointed out and turned to Zero.
"Oi, Zero, are you still with us?"
Zero cradled his head in his hands, experiencing a sharp pain as a pair of crimson eyes flashed through his mind.
"What the hell?! Part of that nightmare?" he mumbled, attempting to recall the dream, but only managing to worsen his headache in the process.
"-ero! Hey, Zero!" Kaito's voice reached him, accompanied by a gentle shake.
"Zero, I know you don't wanna be late, so let's get on the train. Are you okay, Zero?"
With that, Zero snapped back to reality.
"Yes, I'm fine. Let's go."
They both boarded the train, but it was far from a pleasant ride for Zero. Kaito couldn't stop pestering him about the nightmare he'd mentioned earlier. Kaito had sharp hearing, similar to Zero's, which had allowed him to catch Zero's muttering. Unfortunately, Zero couldn't provide any details about the nightmare; he couldn't remember anything beyond the fleeting image of those crimson eyes. It was a puzzle that left him wondering, 'What does it mean?'
"Zero, tell me more about that nightmare. It's not like you to mention something like that and then not explain," Kaito pressed further, genuinely concerned about his friend's unusual behavior.
Zero sighed in frustration. "Kaito, I'd love to, but I can't remember much. It was just flashes of images, and this intense headache. The only thing that stood out were these crimson eyes."
Kaito frowned, pondering the significance of those eyes. "Crimson eyes, huh? That's pretty strange. Maybe it's just stress or something."
Zero nodded, though he wasn't entirely convinced. "Yeah, maybe you're right. Let's not dwell on it too much."
As they continued their conversation, Zero couldn't help but feel a lingering unease. Those crimson eyes had felt so vivid, like a memory rather than a dream. But he couldn't put his finger on where he might have seen them before, and that frustration gnawed at him throughout the day.
After several minutes, they finally arrived at the grounds of Cross Academy.
Cross Academy was a prestigious private school that admitted only chosen students. These students had to pass a special test personally administered by Chairman Kaien Crosse. One remarkable aspect of the academy was its inclusive nature; it welcomed students from diverse backgrounds, whether they came from privileged or humble beginnings, as long as they successfully passed the stringent test. Unfortunately, only a select few managed to do so. What truly garnered Cross Academy its nationwide fame, however, was not its inclusivity but the fact that some of Japan's most popular and admired idols, actors, singers, and other young celebrities attended the school. However, they too were required to pass the same special test.
Cross Academy was divided into two main classes: the East Class and the West Class. The East Class catered to regular students, who wore black uniforms and followed a typical school schedule from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On the other hand, the West Class accommodated elites, including idols, actors, singers, and students from high-status families. In contrast to the East Class, the West Class started classes at 1 p.m. and ended at 7 p.m., sporting white uniforms. The students' attire easily distinguished them from one another. Among them, Zero and Kaito belonged to the East Class, although Kaito was in a higher grade level than Zero. Additionally, the two classes studied in separate buildings, with the East Class situated in the eastern part of the academy and the West Class in the western part. They only interacted during class change-overs, as some minor subjects for the West Class were held in the East Class building. During these times, the student council and the prefects played a crucial role in managing the enthusiastic fans who sometimes disrupted the campus.
Zero and Kaito parted ways as Zero spotted Yuuki, waving to get his attention. Kaito headed off in a different direction.
"Zero! Do you realize how late you are? It's already break time. Where have you been?" Yuuki scolded.
"Whose fault is that, Yuuki? You handed me your projects, practically begging me to complete them, claiming you had too many other subjects to study, even though I know you just skipped reading them!" Zero responded sternly.
Her projects were the reason he hadn't been able to sleep early, and that troublesome dream had only made him sleep even longer.
"But, Zero, I knocked on your door repeatedly, and I heard your alarm, but you never answered. I was starting to think you weren't home, but I knew you had to be. Then Chairman told me to leave you alone. But you're still incredibly late," Yuuki explained, her expression pouting.
'The alarm rang? Why didn't I hear it? No matter what I dream about, the alarm usually wakes me up,' Zero thought to himself. After all, he was typically a light sleeper.
"Prefect Zero Kiryuu and Prefect Yuuki Crosse, you are required in the headmaster's office. I repeat, Prefect Zero Kiryuu and Prefect Yuuki Crosse, you are required in the headmaster's office."
The abrupt announcement over the intercom snapped Zero out of his reverie.
"Zero, let's go. The headmaster has summoned us," Yuuki declared, tugging Zero along.
Zero and Yuuki soon found themselves standing outside the headmaster's office, mentally preparing for what lay ahead.
When the office door swung open to reveal the chairman, they were taken aback. Before they could close the door behind them, an emotional Kaien Crosse rushed forward to hug them, but the two prefects skillfully evaded his embrace, choosing caution over affection. The headmaster accidentally collided with the door and turned to them, his expression reflecting genuine concern. To their astonishment, he spoke rapidly, his words running together.
"Zero, Yuuki, what should I do?" the chairman implored, his face marked with worry.
"Ithoughttheywerearrivingnextweek, butKaname-kuninformedmethatthey'rearrivingtoday. Ihaven'tinformedyouabouttheirvisit, andIhaven'tpreparedawelcomeprogram. Ishouldhavebeenmorepreparedinadvance, butIwasunawareoftheirearlyarrival." Cross panted as he concluded his hastily delivered explanation, leaving the two prefects struggling to decipher his words.
"So, what should I do?" Kaien Crosse repeated, receiving blank stares from the two.
"Chairman, please, calm down first. Take a deep breath," Yuuki suggested, offering a reassuring pat on Crosse's back.
Crosse followed the advice, inhaling deeply and visibly relaxing his expression.
"So, what are you saying again? This time, say it SLOWLY AND CLEARLY!," Zero insisted.
Crosse then proceeded to explain the situation in a more composed manner, though his worry was still evident.
"Zero, Yuuki, Kan—uh, I mean, we were originally expecting special guests next week. However, they called just a short while ago, stating that they're already in Tokyo and will be arriving at Cross Academy within minutes. I hadn't anticipated this."
"What?! You should have informed us beforehand," Zero scolded, his irritation evident.
He had little patience for those who failed to adhere to established plans.
"Do you think they're planning to surprise us?" Yuuki questioned.
"I believe they genuinely intended to surprise us. Nevertheless, I still wanted to arrange a warm welcome program for them. Unfortunately, we're running out of time," Chairman Crosse expressed his concern, his gaze shifting between the two prefects.
"Who are these special guests that you're so eager to arrange a welcome program for?" Zero grumbled, clearly uninterested in the idea.
"You don't understand! Have you heard of the internationally renowned and absolutely adorable super idols, Rima Touya and Senri Shiki? They're among our special guests today. I can hardly contain my excitement at the thought of meeting them in person," the chairman gushed with stars in his eyes.
"So, you mean... the super idols are actually coming to Cross Academy? But why?" Yuuki asked, her own eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"I heard they're going to hold a concert here next month, but getting to meet them in person before that is simply exhilarating. Don't you think so, Yuuki-chan?" Crosse and Yuuki launched into an animated discussion about the super idols, seemingly oblivious to Zero's queries.
"Could you please stop your conversation?" Zero exclaimed.
"Chairman, are we not facing a predicament here?"
Their dialogue ceased, and Chairman Crosse assumed a more upright posture, attentive to Zero's concerns.
"Very well, what suggestions do you have?" Chairman Crosse inquired, turning his attention to the two of them.
"Perhaps we should simply allow them to come and go as they please. There may be no cause for concern. If that is their desire, so be it," Zero proposed with a tone of indifference.
"Zero-kun..." Chairman Crosse began to protest.
"I have an idea, Chairman. How about we assemble all the students from both the East and West Classes in the entrance lobby? A modest welcome from all of us might suffice," Yuuki suggested.
"Yuuki, that's a commendable idea. Let us proceed with that," Chairman Crosse concurred.
"Tsk!" Zero scowled deeply, still harboring doubts.
"Zero, you may not fully appreciate their significance. A small welcome may not adequately convey our appreciation for their visit," Yuuki argued.
"Yuuki-chan, you shall be responsible for the East Class, and Zero-kun, you will oversee the West Class," Chairman Crosse directed.
"Managing the East Class is more challenging than the West. Zero should handle the East Class," Yuuki contended, well aware of the passionate fangirls in the East Class.
"No, Yuuki. This time, we must exercise particular caution with the West Class. They are more likely to instantly recognize the guests, and they may incite a substantial commotion. Do you comprehend?" Kaien Crosse explained with a notably serious demeanor.
The prefects gazed at him for a moment, taken aback by his unusual seriousness. Zero clenched his teeth, sensing that something was amiss. Kaien Crosse's words hinted at undisclosed information, leaving Zero with a foreboding feeling.
"Yes... I comprehend," Yuuki acknowledged with a salute, managing a smile.
"So, Zero, let's get to work promptly, before their arrival."
"That's the spirit, Yuuki-chan. Now, let's get moving. I'll make preparations as well," Chairman Crosse directed his secretary to summon Takuma Ichijou to his office.

"Please, line up properly and maintain order," Yuuki shouted loudly, but the ongoing conversations and chatter among the students overwhelmed her single voice.
"Did you hear about Wild-sama's new album?"
"I watched Blue Paradise. I found it online."
"Hey, hey, did you catch Kyle-sama's movie series?"
"Raiye-sama is so adorable! I really want to hug him."
"I'm relieved that Kiryuu-kun is absent today. This is our chance."
"Kana won the Best Performer award last year. I hope she wins again this year."
"I can't wait to take a photo of Idol-sama."
"I'm going to make a good impression on him today. I hope he notices me."
Various conversations filled the entrance lobby of Cross Academy, making it challenging for Yuuki to maintain order.
"Hey! Is anyone even listening to me? The visitors are VIPs, so you'd better behave yourselves. No taking photos, no gossiping, and no shouting about your idols. Do you understand the rules?" Yuuki shouted again, but her words seemed to go unheard.
She wished Zero were there with her.
"Yori-chan, please help me here," Yuuki implored her best friend, who was engrossed in her cellphone.
--KanZe_KanZe--
"Be quiet! I don't have time to entertain your complaints or excuses. Chairman Crosse specified that everyone should attend, so everyone will. Any further complaints will result in detention, and I'm deadly serious," Zero asserted.
Zero furrowed his brow and cast a stern gaze at the West Class students, remaining unimpressed by their attempts to intimidate him simply because of their superior status. He held a strong disdain for their conceit, which contradicted the admiration they received from others. Some of them, notably Aidou, had given Zero a hard time.
"Kiryuu, do you dare to issue orders here? I couldn't care less about Chairman Crosse's wishes. I'm busy, and I don't want you disrupting me," retorted Hanabusa Aidou, a 16-year-old of mixed Japanese and American heritage renowned for his expertise in chemistry.
Aidou had developed a vaccine for the influenza virus that had struck Tokyo the previous year. He had completed his chemistry studies at a young age and had spent two years assisting his family's company. For reasons of his own, he had enrolled in Cross Academy, where he had become popular for his playful antics and his craving for attention.
If there was one person unafraid to defy Zero, it was Aidou. He paid little mind to Zero's intimidating glares, which had others trembling in fear. They frequently clashed due to Aidou's penchant for misbehaving, such as skipping classes, which inevitably led to Zero assigning him detentions.
"You, Aidou, busy? Seriously? You have more free time than anyone, spending it on card games with your cousin!" Zero snapped, irritated by Aidou's excuses, while Kain discreetly stashed a card away, indicating his intention to cheat.
"Calm down, Kiryuu. Just let us finish this game, and we'll head there soon, alright?" Kain flashed a mischievous grin as Aidou remained oblivious to his cousin's trickery.
Kain Akatsuki, a renowned young model known for his charisma and laid-back charm, had earned multiple awards and worked for Japan's largest modeling agency, securing his status as the country's top male model.
"I've told you, we're short on time! The VIPs will be here any moment, and Chairman Crosse wants you there to greet them," Zero grumbled, feeling a headache coming on.
Then, he dropped a bombshell.
"By the way, have you heard of the international super idols Senri Shiki and Rima Touya? They're among the VIPs. Wouldn't you like to meet some of your idols?"
Zero's mention of the guests instantly grabbed the attention of the remaining West Class students, including Aidou and Kain, who had paused their activities upon hearing those familiar names.
"So, you're telling me that Senri Shiki and Rima Touya are the guests, Kiryuu-san?" Raiye, the charming idol with a sweet tooth and a fondness for hugging his teddy bear, asked eagerly.
Zero nodded at the youthful Raiye, who appeared as though he belonged in elementary school but was actually 17 years old. Raiye joined the other students as they left.
"Senri... Rima... Why are they here?" Kain pondered aloud.
"You should have informed us earlier, Kiryuu. Let's go, Kain," Aidou stated, and both he and Kain, who wore a curious expression, headed for the door.
Zero heaved a sigh of relief, thankful that he hadn't encountered any resistance from the students and hadn't needed to resort to dragging them. Things had gone more smoothly than he'd expected. However, he was now left even more bewildered about the identity and purpose of these enigmatic guests.
--KanZe_KanZe--
The students of Cross Academy congregated in the entrance hallway of the school's lobby. West Class students were positioned on the left side, while the East Class occupied the right. A red carpet stretched down the center of the lobby, a clear indication of Chairman Cross's efforts to make this reception as welcoming as possible.
Yuuki was currently struggling to organize the East Class, even with Yori's assistance, when the West Class students made their entrance. The whispering and giggling of the fangirls swiftly escalated into screams and shouts as they called out the names of the West Class students. Chaos reigned in the lobby, and both Yuuki and Yori did their utmost to maintain order among the East Class.
'Where is Zero when we need him?'
After a few minutes, the most celebrated and idolized duo of Cross Academy arrived. Aidou enthusiastically waved and blew kisses to his adoring fans, relishing the attention. He even ventured closer to the East Class, signing autographs for his admirers. Kain, as always, remained laid-back, following Aidou without acknowledging his fans. He seemed lost in thought, but that alone was enough to make his fans scream and declare themselves as Kain's devoted supporters.
"Kyaa... Wild-sama is quite dashing..."
"Aidou-sempai, Kain-sempai, please return to your designated spot. We're struggling to maintain order here. By the way, has anyone seen Zero?" Yuuki inquired as some of the girls managed to slip past Yuuki and Yori's barricade.
"Do not even consider stepping out of line again, or I'll assign you the harshest detention imaginable!" Zero, who had finally arrived wearing a stern expression, yelled at the girls.
Fearing Zero's intimidating glare and warning, the girls hurriedly returned to their positions in line.
"Aidou, Kain, I asked you to come here, not to stir up chaos. Please return to your designated place immediately," Zero sternly instructed them.
When would these troublemakers ever learn?
"And I've reminded you not to give us orders, Kiryuu. We shall act as we please, and you shall have no say in the matter," Aidou retorted, glaring at Zero.
He loathed how Zero carried himself as if he were superior to everyone.
Before Zero could reply, Kain interjected.
"Aidou, let's return to our place in line. Look, Chairman Crosse is approaching, and we're anticipating Senri and Rima's arrival," Kain suggested in a soft, nearly inaudible tone when he mentioned Senri and Rima's names.
Chairman Crosse, accompanied by Student Council President Takuma Ichijou, approached with an enthusiastic expression on his face.
"I appreciate your participation in this welcome greeting. You'll soon understand why I involved you," Cross conveyed to the West Class.
"Please refrain from asking questions; you'll soon receive an explanation," Crosse added when Aidou seemed about to inquire further.
"Headmaster, the visitors have arrived. Should I allow them entry?" The voice on the intercom conveyed, its message echoing throughout Cross Academy.
"Yes, please let them in, Mika-chan," Cross replied.
"Hai... Understood..." came the response.
A few moments later, a black limousine appeared and parked next to the entrance of the lobby, right where the red carpet had been laid out. The car's door opened, and two super-idols gracefully stepped out. Gasps of surprise rippled through the students as they recognized the beloved idols, Rima Touya and Senri Shiki.
Unexpectedly, both idols were attired in the standard West Class uniform: white blazers, black shirts, red ties, white pants for Shiki, and a white skirt for Rima, all paired with black shoes.
The third person to exit the vehicle joined the two super-idols as they began to walk down the red carpet. This individual possessed striking red-brown eyes, brown hair that reached down to his collar, with his bangs gently brushing against his face. Despite his tranquil and composed demeanor, he sported a faint smile. His slender physique captivated the students as they watched in awe while he strolled down the carpet alongside the two idols.
As they approached, Crosse attempted to signal the two prefects who, like the rest of the students, were in awe of the arriving guests, to greet them. However, their attention remained so fixed on the guests that they failed to offer any salutations, leaving the guests standing before Kaien Crosse without a word of welcome.
Chairman Crosse found himself nearly flabbergasted by this turn of events and took it upon himself to personally greet the guests.
"I am delighted to welcome you to Cross Academy," he said as he shook their hands.
The third man let out a slight chuckle, while the two idols beside him remained impassive.
"Oh, I must apologize for this. I should have anticipated how the three of you would captivate those around you. My sincere apologies for any embarrassment," Crosse added apologetically.
"No need for concern. We appreciate your efforts, as well as those of the students here. It was a pleasure to meet all of you," the guest replied, without bothering to acknowledge the students.
"Shall we continue this discussion in your office, Chairman?"
"Yes, certainly," Crosse agreed. With that, they began their ascent to the Chairman's office.
Crosse instructed the prefects to lead the students to their respective classes.
Once they were out of sight, the previously hushed lobby burst into a cacophony of conversation as the East Class students began to chat with each other. They had never imagined that the international super idols would be the guests, and the fact that they were wearing West Class uniforms left them perplexed.
Did this mean they were new students at Cross Academy? And who was that strikingly handsome man? The discussions continued unabated, and Yuuki found herself just as curious as the rest.
In the West Class, similar conversations occurred, though fewer students participated. The others, potentially the unknown vampires among them, wore expressions of awe and astonishment but remained entirely silent. Aidou was the first to break the silence.
"I-Is this real, Akatsuki? It's hard to believe... Is this some kind of dream? Was that Kan.. Kaname-sama we just saw?" Aidou stuttered, his face reflecting disbelief.
"I believe so, Hanabusa. There's no mistaking it; Kuran Kaname-sama is here," Kain responded, his expression mirroring Aidou's.
Zero felt a sudden, sharp pain in his head as the crimson eyes flashed in his mind once again. It vanished as quickly as it had appeared.
Zero's acute hearing didn't miss the hushed conversation between Aidou and Kain, even though they spoke in subdued tones. They were discussing the third guest, indicating their familiarity with him, unlike the others on both sides.
Kaname-sama? Since when did Aidou address someone so formally, and with a stutter no less? Who was that man?
His train of thought was abruptly interrupted by a vibration from his pocket. Zero retrieved his device and read the new message:
'Zero, I can't contact Kaito. Find him and tell him to come to me. I need him for a mission.' It was a message from Yagari-sensei.
"The welcome greetings are over. You should all head back to your classes now! Yuuki, lead them to their classes," Yuuki protested, but Zero ignored her and turned his attention to the West Class.
"West Class, it's time to return to your classes. Continue with your previous tasks," he commanded.
The others complied with Zero's directive.
"Anyone still here when I reach five will receive detention."
"One... Two... Three..." The students began to leave the lobby, eager to avoid detention from the infamous Evil Zero Kiryuu, as they jokingly referred to him.
"Four..." Zero continued, noticing that some of the West Class students, including those with incredulous expressions like Kain and Aidou, had not yet left.
"Five—"
"I need to ensure if that was Kaname-sama," Aidou suddenly interrupted Zero's countdown and proceeded to ascend the stairs to the second floor.
Zero blocked his path.
"Aidou, return to your class. Now."
"Step aside, Kiryuu. I must see Kaname-sama," Aidou insisted, attempting to push past Zero.
However, Zero's quick reflexes prevented him from doing so, as he firmly gripped Aidou's arm from behind.
"Release me, Kiryuu!" Aidou shouted, unable to escape Zero's strong grasp.
"Not unless you go back to your class. Chairman Crosse is currently in a meeting with the guests, and I won't allow you to disturb them just to catch a glimpse of that man," Zero responded, meeting their hard glares with his own determined one.
"Kain, please escort your cousin out of here before he begins causing disruptions. We wouldn't want to inconvenience this 'Kaname-sama,' would we?"
"Don't you dare mention Kaname-sama's name in that tone!" Aidou threatened once more, struggling to free himself from Zero's hold.
"I think it's best for us to wait for Kaname-sama, Aidou. He wouldn't appreciate us causing trouble for him, assuming he is indeed Kaname-sama," Kain suggested, his expression still filled with uncertainty.
"There's no way he's Kaname-sama," Daiki spoke up.
"I—I mean, I can't sense his presence at all." He lowered his gaze, anticipating Aidou's reaction.
"What did you just say?! Are you implying that someone who resembled Kaname-sama was with Shiki and Rima?!" Aidou angrily retorted, grabbing another student by the collar as Zero had already released his grip.
"But his presence..." another student began but faltered under Aidou's intense glare.
"Just return to your classes now, for heaven's sake! If you want to keep discussing this, do it in your classrooms; you'll cause trouble by lingering here!" As far as Zero was concerned, their discussions were baffling, but he had other matters to attend to, and their commotion in the lobby needed to stop.
"You..."
"Aidou, let's go. Kaname-sama will likely speak with us after his meeting with the Chairman. Come on, let's head back to class," Kain persisted, dragging Aidou along despite Aidou's protests.
The rest of the students followed them.
Zero let out a sigh of relief but remained perplexed. He decided to inquire about this later from the chairman. First, though, he had to locate that troublesome Kaito. Zero knew Kaito was probably somewhere in the Academy, sleeping again.
--KanZe_KanZe--
"I'm truly delighted that you've returned, Kaname. When you first called me, I couldn't believe it; I thought I was dreaming. But here you are, in person," Chairman Crosse couldn't hide his happiness upon seeing Kaname Kuran again after all these years.
"It's good to see you too, Chairman. Looking at you now, so much has changed, especially how cheerful you've become. What happened to the ever-serious and fiery hunter I knew?" Kaname was genuinely surprised to see the transformation in Kaien Crosse.
The former dangerous and fearless hunter, once feared by all, seemed like a distant memory, replaced by the happiness on the chairman's face.
"Oh, my dear friend, those days are long behind us. This is the new me. Let's focus on the present, shall we?" Crosse shifted the conversation and instructed the still-shocked Takuma to prepare the slideshow.
Takuma snapped out of his daze as he looked at Kaname; he, too, found it hard to believe he was actually in the presence of Kaname-sama.
"Uh, I'm Takuma Ichijou, the Student Council President of this academy. I extend a warm welcome to Cross Academy," Takuma introduced.
"It's a pleasure to see you again, Takuma," Kaname responded.
"Likewise... We're thrilled to be here," added the two idols, who were currently enjoying their third Pocky sticks since their arrival.
"Ah, it's a pleasure to see you once again," Takuma smiled warmly.
"Shall we continue?" Takuma proceeded with the slideshow, providing an introduction to Cross Academy, its founding, and its current status.
He elaborated on the division of students into East and West Classes and detailed the academy's accomplishments over the years.
"We have two prefects responsible for maintaining peace and order since the student council alone couldn't adequately protect the academy. First, we have Zero Kiryuu." Takuma displayed a candid photo of Zero, capturing his typically grumpy demeanor.
Kaname couldn't help but notice Zero's unique silver hair.
"A rather uncommon hair color for a prefect."
"You've misunderstood, Kaname-kun. Zero's hair isn't dyed silver; that's his natural color. He was quite a rare child, after all," Crosse said with a touch of fondness in his voice, which Kaname picked up on.
"Silver hair? I've never encountered anyone with silver hair, Crosse, not even on the other side. It's an unusual hair color," Kaname remarked, prompting a shared look of confusion between him and Kaien.
"No silver-haired individuals on the other side? Well, it seems that Zero truly is one of a kind," Chairman Crosse concluded.
Kaname once again observed Zero's silver hair, finding it intriguing. While he could accept unusual hair colors as a result of dyeing, the fact that it was natural left him quite puzzled.
"Interesting," Kaname grinned.
"Crosse, who is Zero Kiryuu?"
"Well, Zero is actually my adopted son. He became a part of our family after his entire family perished in a fire. He was the sole survivor of that tragedy. And for some reason..." Chairman Crosse hesitated, his expression growing thoughtful.
Kaname waited for a moment, sensing that something was bothering the chairman.
"Chairman, for some reason, what?" Kaname inquired, sensing that there was more to the story.
"Oh, it's nothing," Chairman Crosse evasively replied.
"Takuma, let's continue. Time is short, and I'd like Kaname and these two to tour the campus." He swiftly changed the subject, prompting Takuma to resume the presentation.
Another photo appeared on the screen.
"Next, we have the second prefect, Yuuki Crosse." Takuma displayed a recent picture of Yuuki, captured during the school festival.
Kaname's red-brown eyes widened as he beheld the image of the girl before him. He was utterly bewildered, unable to comprehend how the girl in the photo bore such a striking resemblance to someone he had known.
"Crosse?" Kaname stared at the chairman in disbelief.
"Yes, Kaname-kun. Yuuki is my beloved daughter," Chairman Crosse confirmed.
"She's a cheerful and radiant young lady who brightens my every day. She takes after her mother so much." Crosse spoke with affection whenever he mentioned his beloved daughter, Yuuki.
Kaname continued to gaze at the picture, closely examining Yuuki's face. Her daughter, huh?
"Since you left, Kaname-kun, you've been unaware of our child. She didn't just leave this world; she left us a precious gift from heaven. Yuuki is the greatest blessing she ever bestowed upon me."
After a brief silence, during which Kaname was still regaining his composure following the unexpected revelation – a silence unbroken by Takuma or the two idols – Kaname finally spoke.
"Crosse... I'd like to meet her," Kaname softly stated, his composure gradually returning.
This was not the time to reveal his vulnerability, especially in front of those present.
"I guessed correctly. Mika-chan, please call Yuuki for me," Chairman Crosse instructed his secretary.
"Understood," Mika replied.
--KanZe_KanZe--
"Yuuki Crosse, you are summoned to the headmaster's office. I repeat, Yuuki Crosse, you are being summoned to the headmaster's office," the intercom announcement resonated throughout Cross Academy, audible to anyone on campus.
Inside the school cafeteria, students occupied the tables, engrossed in diverse conversations while savoring their lunches. However, the primary topic of discussion revolved around the newly arrived guests presently engaged in a meeting with Chairman Crosse.
Yuuki and Yori were seated at one of the cafeteria tables, their lunch trays in front of them. When the intercom message reverberated, they exchanged a brief glance, prompting Yuuki to promptly finish her meal. Her past experiences had taught her that being called to the chairman's office usually signified something significant.
As news of the intercom message spread among the students, a group of girls approached Yuuki.
"Crosse-san, are you heading to see the Chairman? Can we accompany you?"
"Yes, Crosse-san, we're willing to assist with whatever the chairman may require."
They offered smiles, but Yuuki sensed their underlying motive. They simply wished for an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the guests.
"Um... Ah... Well..."
"Please, Crosse-san, we promise to behave," they earnestly implored.
"Hey. The chairman only summoned Yuuki because she's a prefect. Her co-prefect, Kiryuu-kun, is probably already in the chairman's office since his name wasn't called. Do you really want to meet Kiryuu-kun there?" Yori inquired of the girls, who swiftly realized the implications.
Their expressions shifted to fear as they contemplated what Kiryuu might do if they accompanied Yuuki.
"On second thought, we'll have to pass, Crosse-san. Don't we have other things to attend to?" one of them suggested to her friends.
"Yeah. I just remembered we haven't finished our homework yet."
"True. Let's go complete it before it gets too late."
With excuses at the ready, the girls retreated, making an effort to avoid any further interaction with Yuuki and Yori.
"That was quite impressive, Yori. Thank you so much," Yuuki expressed her gratitude once the girls were out of earshot.
"Yuuki, you just confirmed that they're not afraid of you at all. It's always Kiryuu-kun."
"Hmph... Well, of course, Zero always wears a scowl like he despises everything."
"Yuuki, you should head there quickly if you still want to catch a glimpse of the guests."
"Yeah... I better get going. See you later, Yori-chan." Yuuki hurriedly departed, aware of the considerable distance between the cafeteria and the chairman's office.
Yuuki hesitated for a brief moment before knocking on the chairman's office door.
"Chairman, this is Yuuki. May I come in?" she asked.
"Yes, yes, come in, Yuuki," Chairman Crosse replied.
She entered the room and closed the door gently, her eyes immediately drawn to the people inside.
Yuuki's gaze locked onto the remarkably handsome brown-haired man once again, the same person who had captured everyone's attention earlier. He now stared back at her with a stunned expression.
"Juri..." Kaname whispered softly, his eyes widening in shock upon seeing the girl who bore an uncanny resemblance to someone he had held dear in the past.
Yuuki froze, her mind racing. Juri? Her mother?
Kaname continued to fixate on her, and an uneasy silence hung in the room as they both grappled with the significance of the name he had uttered, which was indeed the name of Yuuki's late mother.
Breaking the silence, Kaien Crosse spoke up.
"Yuuki-chan, I want you to meet Kaname Kuran. He's the one who requested your presence here. Kaname, meet my daughter, Yuuki."
He wanted to meet me? Did he know my mother?
"It's my pleasure to finally meet you in person, Yuuki," Kaname said with a smile, causing Yuuki to blush in response.
Hearing her name from this handsome man was quite pleasant. Kaname then took Yuuki's hand and gently kissed the back of it.
Their audience, except for Chairman Crosse, was surprised by Kaname's actions, but the chairman displayed a pleased smile as he watched the scene unfold.
Yuuki nearly lost her breath as Kaname continued to gaze at her with a delighted smile on his face.
"It's a pleasure to meet you too, K-K-Kuran-sama," Yuuki replied shyly.
"Kaname. Call me Kaname, Yuuki."
"Now... Now... Yuuki-chan, I also called you here because Takuma-kun has something else to do, so I want you to be the tour guide for these three at Cross Academy," Chairman Crosse interrupted.
"Ah... H-hai... I understand, Chairman. So, would you prefer we start the tour now, K-K-Kaname... s-sama?" Yuuki looked down with a faint blush on her face.
"Yes, I would like to, Yuuki," Kaname replied with a smile.
Kaname and Yuuki left the chairman's office, followed by the two idols. They began the tour, led by the still shy and blushing Yuuki. A few hours later, the tour was halfway complete as they had explored most of Cross Academy, except for the West Class.
As they were on their way to their last destination, Yori approached Yuuki, reminding her about an upcoming test that she couldn't afford to miss as it was her last chance to pass the subject.
Yuuki whispered to Yori,
"Oh no! Yori-chan, I'm supposed to guide the guests. What should I do?"
Yori reassured her, saying,
"You know this is your last chance, Yuuki. Why don't you let them go to the West Class on their own? It's not like uncontrolled fangirls will bother them there; they'll be with their acquaintances."
Yori continued,
"Besides, did you notice how the West Class reacted during the Welcoming? None of them said anything negative about the guests, and Aidou-sempai didn't even insult them like he usually does when new people arrive. It suggests that the West Class probably respects the guests."
Yuuki took a moment to process this information; she hadn't noticed the West Class's reactions during the Welcoming.
"You might be right, Yori-chan. Just wait for me, I'll go talk to them."
"Alright, but be quick."
Yuuki approached the guests, who had paused their conversation upon her return. She shyly glanced at Kaname-sama and politely excused herself from their tour. She conveyed Yori's suggestion that they would be safe in the West Class, where the students were considered elites.
Kaname initially appeared disappointed but soon nodded and affectionately patted Yuuki's head.
"I understand, Yuuki. I wouldn't want to hinder your studies. I hope you do well on your test."
He smiled, causing Yuuki to blush once more, as if he had known all along about her failing grade. Perhaps he had sensed her desire to continue guiding the visitors.
"Th-thank you, Kaname-sama. Thank you, Touya-san, Shiki-san," Yuuki said, pointing them in the direction of the West Class, which was just a few meters away.
She then left with Yori.

Zero's irritation grew as he made his way up to the top floor of the West Class building. The dream he had last night started replaying in his mind with vivid clarity. He tried to push it aside, but it stubbornly resurfaced, taking a bizarre turn. Who on earth dreams of such a twisted fairytale, especially one involving Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? It seemed utterly ridiculous.
Under his breath, Zero couldn't help but curse Kaito for this mental distraction. But amid this strange dream, he had a more pressing concern: finding the still-missing Kaito.
Zero searched every nook and cranny of the academy, but Kaito remained elusive. By 6 p.m., most students had already left for home, leaving only a few engaged in extracurricular activities or serving detention.
Zero reluctantly decided to check the rooftop of the building, although he doubted Kaito would be there, given their shared aversion to the West Class.
As he ascended, a voice called out his name...
"Zero..."
