Breaking Fate
The newly made Emperor of Mankind worked tirelessly on the gestation pods. He watched closely as his sons artificially grew within the liquid inside. They were still embryos at the moment, and indistinguishable from each other.
Malcador entered the room on occasion to check on the Emperor, who worked without sleep to make sure the Gestation pods had no irregularities.
He pressed a hand against one of the pods, watching as the fetus developed. The Emperor eagerly awaited the awakening of his sons and imagined all the great things they would accomplish together.
As the Emperor worked alongside his growing sons, he was unaware of a presence watching from far away.
Tzeentch, the Chaos god of change, mischievously watched from his hiding spot outside of the Emperor's senses. He couldn't be revealed just yet, he hadn't enacted his plan after all.
He knew of the Emperor's little plan. Making sons of his own to act as generals in his coming crusade to unite humanity. Where would the fun be in allowing that to happen?
So Tzeentch planned to mess with the Emperor. Put a stop to his plans by moving the Primarchs away and sending them out into the galaxy. It would certainly slow down the Emperor's plan for humanity's unification.
But unknown to Tzeentch, another stood out of the senses of the Chaos god.
Primus moved his presence through the Warp. It was a skill he had developed a long time ago, and while the Warp disgusted him, he found it a convenient way to convey his messages when they were needed quickly.
Now, he felt one of the gods make a move outside of his domain. Tzeentch hovered around Earth, most likely planning something nefarious.
Ever since the Dark Ages, he had felt Optimus' dismay when the topic of Earth came up. The Cybertronians that had stayed behind had been killed long ago in a clear message, they were no longer welcome.
Tzeentch was most likely messing with that brat, Neoth. Now calling himself the Emperor of humanity. Using his vision to peer through Tzeentch, he saw the Emperor working alongside several tubes.
A vision appeared to Primus, the children of Neoth as adults. The galaxy lit ablaze in war as his sons lead armies of humans as generals, innocent beings slaughtered. The sons fall to chaos, and the warp begins to leak into the galaxy.
No… even the possibility of this future could not be allowed to happen.
As Tzeentch began the final steps in his plan to send the child Primarchs into the galaxy, Primus used his presence to push him away from their location. Tzeentch squeaked in surprise.
Primus replaced the Chaos god's warp portal with a space bridge portal that began to pull the pods of the young children in.
The Emperor noticed this immediately and yelled, "No!" As he rushed to save his children.
Pods began disappearing into the space bridge, but using his telekinesis, The Emperor was only able to save two of the pods. The rest vanished alongside the space bridge portal as it closed.
…
The skies over Cybertron were peaceful.
A calm moment in the everlasting civil war that some Cybertronians only knew. Optimus Prime, however, was created before the civil war broke out and could remember the time before.
While it was far from perfect, the corruption within the Senate was a prime candidate, at least there was a sense of peace.
Optimus stood on a balcony overlooking the vast city below. He enjoyed coming here from time to time as an opportunity to reflect. And to look at what he fought for.
As the Prime stood on the balcony, he saw a large space bridge open over the city. Questioning it, he descended from the balcony and exited out of the building at ground level. A crowd had gathered around the space bridge, as objects began to lower from within.
Their size and shape made many fear that they were potential bombs sent by Decepticons to Cybertron. But the crowd calmed when they saw Optimus Prime standing steadfast. He knew what Decepticon tech looked like, and this was not it.
The pods landed softly on the ground. Murmurs traveled throughout the crowd, and Optimus spotted a few holding weapons in anticipation. He tightened his fist, not knowing what to anticipate with these small electronics.
They landed in a circle, and Optimus saw clearly what they were. They were some sort of pods, with the glass coverings facing outwards. The pods all opened at once, the air pressure hissing as vapor was released into the air.
Optimus' shock was clear when nineteen human infants crawled out of each of their respective pods, and one pod shared two. The crowd's unease quickly changed to confusion and wonder as gasps of shock traveled.
The infants acted like… infants.
But one crawled directly towards Optimus. Its bald head bent back to look up at him in wonder. Optimus lowered his hand to the ground, letting the infant crawl up. He brought his hand up to his face, and let the infant grab a finger from his other hand.
"Hello, little one."
…
Optimus stood at the head of the table, holding the same infant from before on his arm. Upon request, Ratchet made quick clothes for the human infants so they would be comfortable resting on their metal bodies.
Around the table sat his most trusted friends and closest allies. Each held one of the infants in their arms. And then there was Whirl, who had his own… uniqueness to him.
Ratchet sat closest to him, holding the infant he chose to take care of carefully in his steady hands. Bumblebee stared at the infant he held, his small blonde hair was nearly as pale as his skin. Bumblebee held out a finger for the infant to grab.
Ironhide was stoic but took Optimus' orders for holding the infant in his care well, and followed how Ratchet held his, to not cause his infant any discomfort. Windblade was the opposite, making faces for her giggling red infant. Optimus did not remember humans being red, but times may have changed.
Drift sat, holding his infant in one hand, and his sword in the other. His infant seemed to like Drift's sword, and the Autobot moved it closer for the infant to grab. Mystique had taken care of Sparklings before and had a Sparkling hold installed for easier carry. She had volunteered to take the twin infants and placed them both within the Sparkling hold.
Hotrod held his infant in the air, making whooshing noises as he 'flew' the infant around, much to its amusement. Wheeljack tinkered with a gadget placed on the table, and the infant he held watched with fascination.
Grimlock stared at the infant he held, his stoic face showing no emotion. But that didn't stop the infant from cooing and reaching out to the Dinobot. Like Windblade's infant, Grimlock's infant's skin tone was much darker than Optimus remembered. Sunstreaker had recently applied a new layer of paint onto his body, and his infant reached out and touched the damp paint in fascination.
Mirage had a hologram move its head around the chair to entertain the infant. Who seemed to enjoy having the hologram sneak up on him. Whirl, surprisingly, held his infant rather gently. Letting him grab onto his finger, as Whirl chuckled.
The Mistress of Flame had been visiting Cybertron at the time, and upon learning of the pods landing on the surface of Cybertron, she had claimed one of the infants for herself saying it was an act of Primus. Arcee held her infant carefully, to not disturb the small wings that were growing out of his back. Now Optimus knew that didn't happen the last time he visited Earth.
Cliffjumper held his infant in his arms and laughed when he tried biting the metal finger. Bulkhead moved his arm, showing off the large amount of metal armor that he possessed, which the infant seemed to find entertaining. Ultra Magnus held the infant quizzically, as he probably couldn't decipher why it stared at him with such an interested gaze.
And Optimus himself held an infant in his arms, who stared up at him as he addressed the Autobots at the table.
"My friends, I am glad you accepted my request and agreed to take care of these infants on such short notice. With how they arrived on Cybertron being so mysterious, they needed to be taken care of." Optimus spoke out to the table as he pressed a button, activating a hologram.
"What we do know is that a Space Bridge of this size and design has only been reported a few times." Optimus continued, letting those in the room look at the hologram.
"It's a Space Bridge from Primus…" The Mistress of Flame said, as she instantly recognized the design.
"Correct. Meaning the pods containing these infants were most likely sent by Primus himself." Optimus said, looking down at the infant he held, and smiled when the baby cooed.
"So I propose that we raise these infants on Cybertron," Optimus said.
There was a moment of silence before the entire room burst into noise.
