Coumarine Gym Battles (Part Two)
Jonny and Ramos soon return from the Pokemon Center, with Jonny heading to the bleachers where his friends were, while Ramos goes to his side of the arena.
"I hope we didn't keep you waiting too long, young man." said Ramos.
"No problem, dude." said Kevin. "Let's do this."
"Kids these days; always in a hurry." said Ramos. A referee steps to the center of the arena.
"This gym battle is between Ramos the gym leader, and Kevin, the challenger." said the referee. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon. The trainer who is able to defeat all of their opponent's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the match begin." Kevin and Ramos each pull out a pokeball. Ramos throws his, releasing his Jumpluff; Kevin throws his, releasing his Doduo.
"Okay, Doduo; use Fury Attack!" said Kevin. His Doduo runs at the Jumpluff and jabs it repeatedly with her beaks.
"Jumpluff, use Leech Seed!" said Ramos. Jumpluff spits a seed out of its mouth that hits Doduo, which then sprouts vines out that wrap themselves around her. Suddenly, energy is drained from Doduo and is channeled into Jumpluff, healing it a little.
"I gotta do something." said Kevin. "Doduo, use Peck!" Doduo runs at the Jumpluff and rams her beaks into it, doing super effective damage.
"Jumpluff, use Bullet Seed!" said Ramos. Jumpluff releases a barrage of seeds from its mouth and hits Doduo, not doing a lot of damage. Doduo suddenly loses some more energy and Jumpluff is healed a bit more.
"Doduo, use Uproar!" said Kevin. Doduo starts yelling the top of her lungs, sending soundwaves at Jumpluff, damaging it.
"Jumpluff, use Sleep Powder!" said Ramos. Jumpluff sprays blue pollen all over Doduo, but she doesn't fall asleep.
"Why isn't Doduo falling asleep?" asked Jonny.
"How can anyone sleep with all the noise that Doduo is making?" asked Nazz as she covers her ears.
"Oh yes, Uproar prevents Pokemon from falling asleep while it's being used." said Ramos. More energy is drained from Doduo, and Jumpluff is healed a bit more. Doduo suddenly releases another loud soundwave, hitting Jumpluff, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"Jumpluff is unable to battle. Doduo is the winner." said the referee.
"Awesome!" cheered Nazz.
"Way to go, Doduo!" said Kevin. Doduo squawks in triumph before she freezes up and starts to glow.
"Doduo's evolving!" said Jonny. Everyone watches as Doduo starts to change before their eyes. When she finished, she was bigger, taller, she had two long black feathers coming out of her foreheads; and speaking of heads... she had THREE heads now.
"Whoa." said Kevin. He takes out the pokedex and uses it on his newly evolved Doduo.
"Dodrio, the Triple Bird Pokemon, and the evolved form of Doduo. An odd species that is rarely found. The three heads respectively represent joy, sadness, and anger." said the pokedex.
"Looks like the battle she had with Jumpluff was what she needed." said Ramos as he returns Jumpluff to its pokeball. "Rest up, old friend."
"And this says my Dodrio knows Pluck now." said Kevin before putting the pokedex away. Ramos puts Jumpluff's pokeball back into his pocket and pulls out another one. He throws it, releasing his Weepinbell. Dodrio suddenly yells again, sending a shockwave at Weepinbell, hitting it.
"Why did she use Uproar?" asked Nazz. "Kevin didn't tell it to."
"Uproar is like that Devon guy's Ursaring's Thrash attack." said Kevin. Dodrio suddenly settles down. "Looks like Uproar is done."
"And not a moment too soon." said Nazz as she takes her hands off her ears. More energy is drained from Dodrio, and is used to heal Weepinbell.
"I better do something before that Leech Seed takes more of Dodrio's energy." said Kevin.
"But first; Weepinbell, use Sleep Powder!" said Ramos. Weepinbell releases blue pollen from its body which hits Dodrio's faces, this time, making her fall asleep. "At least now with Uproar gone, Pokemon can fall asleep now." More energy is taken from Dodrio, and Weepinbell is healed some more.
"Dodrio, use Pluck!" shouts Kevin. Dodrio suddenly wakes up, and rams her beak into Weepinbell, doing super effective damage, surprising Ramos.
"How did she wake up already?" asked Ramos.
"Dodrio has the Early Bird ability." said Kevin. "She'll wake up from sleep-causing effects sooner than normal."
"I see." said Ramos. "Weepinbell, use Knock Off!" A vine extends from Weepinbell and hits Dodrio.
"Dodrio, use Fury Attack one more time!" said Kevin. Dodrio charges at Weepinbell and jabs it repeatedly with her beaks, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"Weepinbell is unable to battle. Dodrio is the winner." said the referee.
"Way to go, Kevin!" cheers Jonny.
"Rolf is happy for Kevin." said Rolf. Back on the arena, Ramos returns Weepinbell to its pokeball.
"You fought bravely, Weepinbell." said Ramos. He puts Weepinbell's pokeball back into his pocket and pulls out his last one. He throws it, releasing his Gogoat. Suddenly, the last of Dodrio's energy is drained from her and she passes out.
"Dodrio is unable to battle." said the referee.
"Not cool." said Nazz.
"At least Dodrio put up a good battle." said Jonny. Kevin returns Dodrio to her pokeball.
"You were awesome, dudette." said Kevin. He puts Dodrio's pokeball into his pocket and pulls out another one. He throws it, releasing his Vivillon. "Vivillon, use Struggle Bug!" Vivillon flies at Gogoat and wraps her wings around it, wrestling it, doing super effective damage, and lowering its special attack power.
"Gogoat, use Tail Whip!" said Ramos. Gogoat waves its tail in front of Vivillon, lowering her defense.
"Vivillon, use Tackle!" says Kevin. Vivillon flies at Gogoat and rams its head.
"Gogoat, use Take Down!" says Ramos. Gogoat charges at Vivillon and rams her, sending her flying. Gogoat flinches from the recoil damage it took.
"Vivillon, use Psybeam!" shouts Kevin. Vivillon releases a beam of psychic energy from her body and hits Gogoat. It starts stumbling around a bit.
"Gogoat's confused, Kevin." said Jonny.
"Gogoat, use Take Down again!" said Ramos. Gogoat tries to run at Vivillon, but it trips over its own feet, making it crash to the floor.
"Vivillon, use Draining Kiss!" says Kevin. Vivillon flies over to Gogoat and plants a kiss on its forehead, draining some of its energy, and heals herself a bit.
"Gogoat, use Tackle!" says Ramos. Gogoat charges at Vivillon and manages to hit her this time.
"Vivillon, use Gust!" said Kevin. Vivillon releases a strong gust of wind which hits Gogoat, doing super effective damage.
"Gogoat, use Leech Seed!" says Ramos. Gogoat launches a seed at Vivillon, but Kevin was ready this time.
"Vivillon, dodge and use Tackle!" says Kevin. Vivillon dodges the seed, and rams Gogoat's head again.
"Gogoat, use Take Down!" said Ramos.
"Use Protect!" said Kevin. Vivillon creates a green barrier around herself which blocks Gogoat's attack. "Now use Gust one more time!" Vivillon releases another gust of wind, hitting Gogoat, and does enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Gogoat is unable to battle. Vivillon is the winner. The winner of the gym battle is the challenger, Kevin." said the referee.
"Kevin won!" shouts Jonny.
"Way to go, dude!" said Nazz.
"Rolf is pleased." says Rolf. Vivillon flies over to Kevin and nuzzles his cheek, making him laugh a bit.
"You rocked, Vivillon." said Kevin. Ramos returns his Gogoat to its pokeball.
"You did well, Gogoat." said Ramos. He puts Gogoat's pokeball back into his pocket and walks over to Kevin. "You trained your Pokemon well, and I didn't expect your Doduo to evolve."
"I didn't either." said Kevin. Ramos reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Plant Badge, along with some pokedollars.
"As proof of your victory here at the Courmarine Gym; I present you with the Plant Badge." said Ramos. He gives the Plant Badge and pokedollars to Kevin.
"Awesome." said Kevin as he accepts the items. He then holds up his Plant Badge in triumph. "Check it out! I got the Plant Badge!" Ramos smiles, then looks over at Nazz.
"So, I guess only you remain, young lady." said Ramos.
"I guess so, dude." said Nazz.
"I'll be back once I get my Pokemon treated." said Ramos. He, along with Kevin go down the slide to the bottom floor, then head for the Pokemon Center; while Nazz heads to the arena floor and waits for Ramos to return.
Half an hour later, Kevin and Ramos return from the Pokemon Center. Kevin joined Jonny and Rolf on the bleachers while Ramos walked to one end of the arena and faced Nazz.
"This gym battle is between Ramos the gym leader and Nazz, the challenger." said the referee. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon. The trainer who is able to defeat all of their opponent's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the match begin." Nazz and Ramos each pull out a pokeball.
"Litleo, come out!" said Nazz, throwing Litleo's pokeball and releasing her.
"Jumpluff, go!" said Ramos, tossing Jumpluff's pokeball and releasing it.
"Litleo, Fire Fang!" said Nazz. Litleo pounces at Jumpluff while her fangs were covered in flames and she bites Jumpluff, dealing super effective damage, but Jumpluff remained standing. "Hey, is your Jumpluff male?"
"Yes. Why do you ask?" asked Ramos.
"Well, that explains why Fire Fang didn't take down Jumpluff." said Nazz. "My Litleo has the Rivalry ability, and Litleo's a girl."
"I see." said Ramos. Jumpluff suddenly becomes covered in flames.
"Well, it looks like Fire Fang burned Jumpluff." said Nazz.
"That won't stop Jumpluff." said Nazz. "Jumpluff, Poison Powder!" Jumpluff releases a purple powder from his cotton puffs onto Litleo. It turns purple under Litleo's eyes.
"Oh man, Litleo's poisoned!" said Kevin. Jumpluff loses energy from his burn while Litleo loses some from her poisoning.
"Litleo, Work Up!" said Nazz. Litleo becomes surrounded by a red aura and her attack and special attack increases.
"Acrobatics!" said Ramos. Jumpluff flies past Litleo several time, hitting her everytime he did. Jumpluff loses some energy from his burn and Litleo loses some from her poisoning.
"Headbutt!" said Nazz. Litleo runs at Jumpluff and rams him with her head, hurting him and making him flinch. Jumpluff and Litleo loses more energy. "Fire Fang!" Litleo pounces onto Jumpluff and bites him, dealing super effective damage, and knocking him out.
"Jumpluff is unable to battle. Litleo wins the match." said the referee.
"Awesome!" said Nazz.
"You go, Nazz!" said Kevin. Ramos returns Jumpluff to his pokeball.
"You fought well, Jumpluff." said Ramos. He puts Jumpluff's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Weepinbell, go!" He tosses Weepinbell's pokeball and releases it. "My Weepinbell's a male, too."
"That won't stop us!" said Nazz. "Litleo, Noble Roar!" Litleo roars out loud at Weepinbell and his attack and special attack strength weakens. Litleo coughs and loses some stamina from her poisoning.
"Knock Off!" said Ramos. Weepinbell jumps at Litleo and hits her with one of his leaves, knocking Litleo to the ground. Litleo struggles to get up.
"Don't give up, Litleo; use Fire Fang!" said Nazz. Litleo pounces at Weepinbell and bites him, dealing super effective damage. Litleo coughs and loses more stamina from its poisoning.
"Acid!" said Ramos. Weepinbell sprays a stream of purple liquid from his mouth, and it hits Litleo, damaging her.
"Headbutt!" said Nazz. Litleo charges at Weepinbell and rams him, making him flinch. Litleo coughs and collapses.
"Litleo is unable to battle. Weepinbell wins the match." said the referee.
"Excellent work, Weepinbell." said Ramos.
"Aw, man; looks like Litleo couldn't take the poison anymore." said Kevin. Nazz returns Litleo to her pokeball.
"I'm proud of you, dudette." said Nazz. She puts Weepinbell's pokeball and pulls out another one. "Farfetch'd, come out!" She throws Farfetch'd's pokeball and releases him. "Okay, Farfetch'd, use Swords Dance." Farfetch'd flies into the air and spins, increasing his attack strength.
"Weepinbell, Acid!" said Ramos. Weepinbell sprays a purple liquid from his mouth, and it hits Farfetch'd.
"Farfetch'd, Air Cutter!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd flaps his wings, releases X-shaped blue blades of energy from them and they hit Weepinbell, dealing super effective damage.
"Sleep Powder!" said Ramos. Weepinbell releases a blue powder from his mouth.
"Dodge it!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd flies away from the Sleep Powder. "Aerial Ace!" Farfetch'd flies at Weepinbell while white streaks of light surround his body and rams Weepinbell, dealing massive damage due to Swords Dance increasing his attack strength and knocking Weepinbell out.
"Weepinbell is unable to battle. Farfetch'd wins the match!" said the referee.
"Way to go, Farfetch'd." said Nazz. Farfetch'd twirls his leek like a baton. Kevin, Jonny, and Rolf cheer for Nazz. Ramos returns Weepinbell to his pokeball.
"You rest now, Weepinbell; you earned it." said Ramos. He puts Weepinbell's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "You're doing quite well, Nazz; but you have to beat my final Pokemon to earn the Plant Badge. Gogoat, go!" He tosses Gogoat's pokeball and releases it.
"Farfetch'd, use Leer!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd stares at Gogoat while his eyes glowed red, weakening Gogoat's defense.
"Gogoat, Tail Whip!" said Ramos. Gogoat runs at Farfetch'd and wags its tail onto him, weakening his defense.
"Fury Cutter!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd slashes Gogoat with his leek, dealing super effective damage to Gogoat.
"Gogoat, Take Down!" said Ramos. Gogoat charges at Farfetch'd and rams him, knocking him back. Gogoat winces in pain from the recoil damage of Take Down.
"Farfetch'd use Fury Cutter again!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd slashes Gogoat with his leek again, dealing more damage than the first Fury Cutter. "Good thing Fury Cutter gets stronger after each time it's used."
"Let's see which of our Pokemon holds out." said Ramos. "Gogoat, Take Down!" Gogoat charges at Farfetch'd and rams him, dealing critical damage and knocking him to the ground. Gogoat winces in pain. Farfetch'd struggles to get up.
"Don't give up, Farfetch'd; Fury Cutter!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd flies at Gogoat and passes it while striking it with his leek, dealing super effective damage. Gogoat stands there for a few seconds before it collapses.
"Gogoat is unable to battle. Farfetch'd wins. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Nazz." said the referee.
"We did it, Farfetch'd!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd marches around the arena while raising his leek up in the air, making Nazz laugh.
"Nazz is victorious!" said Rolf.
"That was awesome!" said Kevin. Ramos returns Gogoat to its pokeball.
"You fought well, my friend." said Ramos. He puts Gogoat's pokeball away and walks to Nazz. "You've trained your Pokemon well, Nazz."
"Thanks, Ramos." said Nazz. Ramos pulls a Plant Badge and pokedollars out of his pocket.
"To prove you were victorious here, I reward you with the Plant Badge." said Ramos. Nazz takes the Plant Badge and the pokedollars.
"Awesome! I won the Plant Badge!" said Nazz. Now that the group have won their fourth badges, they are all halfway to being able to compete in the Kalos League.
