Lush Jungle Trial (Part One)
The next morning, the group left their room in the Pokemon Center and went straight to the cafeteria for breakfast. Maxiley looks in shock at the stack of buttered toast on Ed's plate.
"Your brother must really like buttered toast, Sarah." said Maxiley.
"You have no clue." said Sarah.
"What do you think this next trial will be like?" asked Eddy.
"I'm not sure; but we'll find out when we get to the Lush Jungle." said Edd.
"I hope Mallow will be there." said Ed, making Sarah and Jimmy giggle. After they finished breakfast, they brushed their teeth, even Ed; after that, they picked up their Pokemon and left the Pokemon Center. They walked for a couple minutes until they arrived at the entrance to Lush Jungle.
"Here we are, everyone; Lush Jungle." said Edd.
"Let's go in." said Eddy. The group enters the Lush Jungle. Once inside, the group walks up a path and ahead, to Ed's joy, they see Mallow.
"Be still, my heart." said Ed, putting a hand over his chest. The group soon reaches Mallow.
"Welcome to Lush Jungle, everyone." said Mallow. "My trial is ready for you, if you're ready for it."
"We're ready, Mallow." said Ed.
"Very well. The trial is going to be to find three ingredients for the Super Mallow Special." said Mallow.
"That sounds so good!" said Ed, making Mallow smile in response.
"Thanks, Ed; anyway, I need each of you to find a Mago Berry, some honey, and a Big Root." said Mallow. "So, which of you will be going first?" Sarah stepped forward.
"I'll go first!" said Sarah. Mallow then hands Sarah a small bag.
"Here, this is a Forage Bag; it's to hold all the ingredients you'll gather for your trial." said Mallow. Edd then gives Sarah the Rotom Pokedex. Mallow turned towards the jungle. "Let's find the first ingredient right away." Mallow then leads Sarah deep into the jungle. As they did, Mallow turned towards the rest of the group and sees Ed waving and smiling at her; Mallow waves back and turns away, blushing. Sarah notices this and smiles.
Sarah and Mallow soon reach an open area of a jungle. When they entered, several plant-like Pokemon scatter.
"Geez, those Fomantis." said Mallow, giggling. "I wonder if they can tell how strong you are?" She turned towards Sarah. "Anyway, you should be able to find some Mago Berries here."
"What do they look like?" asked Sarah.
"They're curved and pink, but yellow at the end." replied Mallow.
"Oh, okay." said Sarah.
"Fomantis love Mago Berries too, so they won't take kindly to someone taking them." said Mallow.
"I don't care. I want to complete this trial." said Sarah and she walked into the area. After looking around for a minute, she finds a berry fitting the description Mallow gave her. He picks the berry up and puts it into the Forage Bag. She walks back to Mallow. "I found a Mago Berry, Mallow."
"Very good; I hope a Pokemon didn't have their eye on that berry, or they might come after you." said Mallow. Sarah pulls a pokeball out of her pocket.
"I'd like to see them try!" said Sarah.
"Then it's on to the next ingredient." said Mallow. She then leads Sarah to the next part of Lush Jungle, unaware that a couple of Fomantis' were coming out from under a tree.
In another part of Lush Jungle, Mallow and Sarah were in another area where there were several flowers.
"You should be able to find some honey in the flowers that bloom here, Sarah." said Mallow.
"Okay, Mallow; thanks." said Sarah. She then walks into the area and collected honey from several flowers. After she felt she had enough, she returns to Mallow and shows her all the honey she collected. Mallow then leads Sarah to another part of Lush Jungle; however, after leaving the area, a small, light green Pokemon with and orange face and several flowers surrounding it comes out of a bush that had flowers on it and then goes the direction Sarah and Mallow were walking.
Sarah and Jimmy soon arrived at another area of Lush Jungle.
"You can find a Big Root near the trees that look kind of like Sudowoodo." said Mallow.
"I'm guessing Sudowoodo's a Pokemon." said Sarah.
"You've never seen one?" asked Mallow.
"Nope." replied Sarah.
"Well, these Pokemon look like trees." said Mallow.
"I'll be sure to learn about them when I get the chance." said Sarah. She then walked into the area. Sarah walks to a tree and sees a Big Root from underneath it. She pulls it out and puts it in the Forage Bag; she then returns to Mallow. "I got a Big Root, Mallow."
"Well done, Sarah." said Mallow. She and Sarah then left the area; after they did, a 'tree' turns, revealed to be a Pokemon starts running the direction Sarah and Mallow were headed.
Soon, Mallow, along with Lana and Kiawe were in front of a large pot with Sarah.
"Okay, Sarah, let's check the ingredients you got me." said Mallow. She looks into the Forage Bag and pulls out a Mago Berry. "Okay, let's put the Mago Berry into the pot, along with the fresh water Lana brought us." She puts the Mago Berry and some water into the pot. Just then, a Fomantis showed up. "A Fomantis." Sarah pulls out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Fomantis.
"Fomantis, the Sickle Grass Pokemon. It loves the sunshine. When it basks in the sunlight regularly, it grows up with vivid coloration." said the Rotom Pokedex.
I guess it wanted that Mago Berry also." said Mallow.
"Well, finders, keepers!" said Sarah as she pulls out a pokeball. "Go, Blissey!" She throws Blissey's pokeball and releases her. "Blissey, use Pound!" Blissey runs at Fomantis and pounds it, knocking it to the ground, but it gets back up. Fomantis runs at Blissey and slashes her with one of its leaf arms. "Oh yeah?! Blissey, Echoed Voice!" Blissey lets out a yell and releases a soundwave that hits Fomantis, landing a critical hit and knocking it out. "That'll teach you, Fomantis!"
"Well done, Sarah." said Mallow. "Okay, next up is the honey." She takes out the honey. Before she can put it into the pot, everyone hears something approaching. They look to see the light green Pokemon from where Sarah gathered honey. Sarah pulls out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Comfey, the Posy Picker Pokemon. It picks flowers and sticks them to its body with fluids it produces. The aroma that wafts from its petals has a healing effect." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"I think this Comfey wants this honey." said Mallow. Sarah steps towards Comfey while pulling out a pokeball.
"If this Pokemon wants this honey, it'll have to get through me first!" said Sarah. "Salandit, go!" She tosses Salandit's pokeball and releases her. "Okay, Salandit, use Smog!" Salandit opens her mouth and releases a black smoke from it that hits Comfey, dealing super effective damage to it. Comfey unleashes a vine from its body and it hits Salandit, but not doing much damage to her. "Flame Burst!" Salandit swings her tail and releases a red liquid from it that hits Comfey and knocks it out. "Good work, Salandit." Sarah then returns Salandit to her pokeball and walks over to Mallow.
"I guess Comfey really wanted this honey." said Mallow. "Anyway, let's mix in this honey with the Thick Club Kiawe brought along." She mixes the honey into the pot. After that, Mallow takes the Big Root out of the Forage Bag. "And finally, the Big Root." She puts it in the pot just as the treelike Pokemon runs over to them. Sarah points the Rotom Pokedex at it.
"Sudowoodo, the Imitation Pokemon and the evolved form of Bonsly. The result of its holding the same pose all the time is arms that have become supple yet strong." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"If it wants that Big Root, it can just forget it!" said Sarah as she pulls out a Dive Ball. "Alomomola, come out!" She tosses Alomomola's Dive Ball and releases her. "Okay, Alomomola, Aqua Jet!" Alomomola becomes surrounded by water and flies at Sudowoodo, ramming it, and dealing super effective damage to it. Sudowoodo runs at Alomomola and hits her with one of its arms, knocking her back. "Oh yeah?! Alomomola, Water Pulse!" Alomomola creates a ball of blue water and launches it at Sudowoodo, hitting it, dealing super effective damage and knocking it out. Sarah then returns Alomomola to her Dive Ball and returns to Mallow.
"Those Sudowoodo. They like to put Big Roots around their feet to look like real trees." said Mallow. She then turned towards Sarah and smiles. "And it's finished...with one last pinch of my super-special secret spice." She puts some spice into the pot and begins to stir around. "Ta-da! The Super Mallow Special! It's done and it smells delicious!" An aroma begins to waft around the area. Mallow, Lana, and Kiawe turned and saw something approaching behind Sarah.
"Now what?!" exclaimed Sarah. She turns around and sees a large, plant like Pokemon that resembled an insect walking towards Sarah. "What is that?" She takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Lurantis, the Bloom Sickle Pokemon and the evolved form of Fomantis. As it slashes into its enemies, it looks like it's dancing. Its elegant appearance has led some to call it the most glamorous Grass Pokémon." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"This food isn't for you, Lurantis!" said Sarah as she pulls out a pokeball. "Ledian, go!" She tosses Ledian's pokeball and releases her. Lurantis becomes surrounded by an aura. "Ledian, Mach Punch!" Ledian flies at Lurantis with incredible speed and punches the Lurantis, making it stumble backwards. Lurantis swings its sickle like arms in an X pattern that hits Ledian, but not doing much damage. "Use Silver Wind!" Ledian flaps her wings and releases a silver wind with curved energy blades in it that hit Lurantis, dealing super effective damage to it. Lurantis raises its arms and begins to absorb sunlight. "I don't know what it's doing, but I have to take it down. Mach Punch!" Ledian flies at Lurantis and punches it across the face, making it stumble back and drop to one knee. A blade of yellow light forms around Lurantis' arm and it swings it at Ledian. "Reflect!" A glass square forms in front of Ledian and the blade crashes into it, doing some damage to Ledian, knocking it to the ground. Ledian struggles to get up. "I better end this now. Ledian, Tackle!" Ledian flies at Lurantis and rams it up its chin, sending it flying up and crashing belly first onto the ground, unconscious. "Way to go, Ledian." Ledian weakly nods. Sarah returns Ledian to its pokeball and walks back to the trial captains.
"Wow, Sarah; you're quite strong it you were able to take down that Totem Pokemon." said Mallow.
"That was the Titan Pokemon?" asked Sarah.
"Yes it was." said Mallow. "You fought through the jungle to get me the ingredients I need. Your Pokemon are indeed strong."
"My Marowak didn't stand a chance with her Pokemon." said Kiawe.
"My Araquanid didn't stand a chance either." said Lana.
"Looks like you cleared all three island trials here on Akala Island, Sarah." said Mallow.
"Really?!" replied Sarah.
"Yes." said Mallow. She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a green Z-Crystal that had the image of a leaf on it. "You have truly earned this Grassium-Z." She gives Sarah the Grassium-Z.
"Yeah! The Grassium-Z is mine." cheered Sarah.
"Here. Let me show the pose needed to use the pose needed to use the move for Grassium-Z." said Mallow. She shows Sarah the pose. Later, Sarah and Mallow return to the rest of the group.
"How did it go, Sarah?" asked Jimmy. Sarah shows them the Grassium-Z.
"Way to go, Sarah!" said Maxiley.
"Well done, Sarah." said Edd. Mallow walks to the group.
"Which of you will be facing my trial next?" asked Mallow. Jimmy steps forward.
"I will!" said Jimmy.
"Very well." said Mallow. She gives Jimmy the Forage Bag and leads Jimmy into the jungle. There, Jimmy gathers the same ingredients that Sarah did during her trial and encounter the same Pokemon she did. Once they found everything they needed, they all head back to the campsite where friends, Kiawe, and Lana, were waiting.
"We're back, everyone." said Jimmy. He then goes over to the pot that Mallow was getting ready and drops in the Mago Berry. Suddenly, a Fomantis runs to them.
"Another Fomantis; I guess this one wanted a Mago Berry also." said Mallow. Jimmy pulls out a pokeball.
"Well, it's not getting it." said Jimmy. "Go, Butterfree!" He tosses Butterfree's pokeball and releases him. "Okay, Butterfree, use Gust!" Butterfree flaps his wings and releases a strong gust of wind from them, and they hit Fomantis, hitting it and dealing super effective damage to it. Fomantis releases glowing green leaves from its body and they hit Butterfree, but not doing much damage. "Now use Tackle!" Butterfree flies at Fomantis and rams it, knocking it to the ground with swirly eyes. "Good job, Butterfree."
"You did quite well battling that Fomantis, Jimmy." said Mallow. She then takes the honey out of the bag and pours it into the pot. Soon, another Comfey appears and floats towards the pot.
"Looks like this Comfey wants the honey like the last one did." said Mallow.
"Well, we got it first." said Jimmy as he takes out his Lucario's pokeball and releases him from it. "Lucario, use Metal Claw!" Lucario's right arm spike extends a little and turned metallic. He then rushes towards the Comfey and slashes it, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Your Lucario is strong." said Mallow. After that, she stirs it with the Thick Club, then adds the Big Root to it, causing the Sudowoodo they got it from to show up.
"I got this." said Jimmy. "Lucario, use Brick Break!" Lucario swings his arm at the Sudowoodo, and hits its chest, doing super effective damage; but the Sudowoodo was still standing, much to Jimmy's surprise.
"I do believe that Sudowoodo has the Sturdy ability." said Edd. The Sudowoodo responds by delivering a strong kick to Lucario's stomach, doing super effective damage.
"Hurry, Lucario! Use Aura Sphere!" said Jimmy. Lucario launches a ball of energy at the Sudowoodo, hitting it for super effective damage, and knocks it out.
"That was a tough Sudowoodo there." said Mallow. After she stirs the Big Root into the pot, she adds her super-secret special spice, making the smell draw the Totem Lurantis back over to them.
"Looks like this Pokemon wants some of this." said Jimmy.
"That's the Titan Pokemon, Jimmy." said Mallow. Jimmy then returns his Lucario to his pokeball, then takes out his Butterfree's pokeball, and releases him from it.
"Butterfree, use Tackle!" said Jimmy. Butterfree flies at the Lurantis, and slams into its chest. The Lurantis responds by slashing him with its glowing green pincer, but not doing a lot of damage. "Now use Gust!" Butterfree flaps his wings, releasing a strong gust of wind, which does super effective damage to it. All of a sudden, the Lurantis puts its pincers together and starts gathering light energy into them.
"Whatever it's doing, you better stop it before it finishes whatever it's up to." said Mallow.
"Butterfree, use Silver Wind!" said Jimmy. Butterfree flaps his wings, releasing a silvery gust which hits Lurantis, doing super effective damage. A surge of energy comes up from Butterfree as Silver Wind's secondary effect increases his overall power. Then, the Lurantis forms a blade from the light it gathered and brings it down towards Butterfree.
"Look out!" shouts Mallow.
"Dodge it!" shouts Jimmy. Butterfree narrowly dodges the attack, and it cleaves a rock in half.
"That was too close." said Mallow. "You better finish this now!"
"On it." said Jimmy. "Butterfree, use one more Tackle!" Butterfree flies at the Lurantis once more and tackles it, this time knocking it to the ground unconscious.
"You did it, Jimmy!" said Mallow.
"That was incredible!" said Lana.
"Your Pokemon are quite formidable." said Kiawe. Mallow reaches into her pocket and pulls out a Grassium-Z Crystal.
"You've earned this Grassium-Z Crystal." said Mallow as she hands it to Jimmy.
"Goodie!" says Jimmy as he accepts the Z-Crystal. He then runs over to the others who congratulate him.
"That was amazing, Jimmy!" says Sarah.
"You're becoming quite the trainer." said Edd.
"Yeah." said Ed. He looks at Mallow with a blush and walks over to her. "I want to go next." Mallow looks at Ed with a blush and smiles.
"Okay then; let's go!" says Mallow as she grabs Ed's hand, making him blush some more, and pulls him into the jungle.
Will Ed keep his momentum going and pass the third Akala Island trial?
