Alma had a firm look on her face as she walked with confidence of a woman of her age, while on the inside she had butterflies in her stomach walking to the school Of encanto*
Julieta:hay i still remember when you were the only teacher in that school what a nightmare that was
Julieta said with a teasing smile at her husband, Agustin chuckled remembering all the times he slipped and fell from the second story window*
Agustín:yes the one day I saw you out the window and I fell for you, literally
Agustín said with a small grin, Julieta slapped his shoulder playfully remembering that day well*
Alma:that's enough from the both of you we're here
Alma said in a serious tone, Agustín sighed and nodded as the 3 of them walked inside. Alma will admit she found it hard to keep a serious expression seeing children of different ages running around having fun on there break*
Alma"this is why the encanto was made, so that the children could have a better life then we did right Pedro?"
Alma thought, on instinct she rubbed softly the ring On her finger thinking of her Pedro*
Agustín:the hell?
Alma:agusting there children present watch your tongue!
Alma said harshly as she turned around to scolded her son in law but then froze. There was a trophy shelf a big one, it was filled with trophies some with different angles of course but what made all 3 adults stops was that a good 2/3 of them had Mirabel's name on them, there was even some pictures of Mirabel holding a trophy with a big smile on her face as her team cheered for her*
Alma:I...I don't remember any of this
Agustín: that's because we weren't there
Agustín said with dread filling his voice, his little girl has won so many awards and neither he or Julieta has gone to one of these events or even gone to one. Julieta was keeping a brave face as she grabbed one of the pictures and looked at it more closely, she grew a sad smile looking at Mirabel's bright full face toothy smile holding the trophy over her head*
Julieta:she...she looks really happy. It's been such a long time since I saw Mirabel smile like this...
Julieta said softly, agustin pursed his lips nodding in agreement. Before they're pity party could continue a cough interrupted them. They turned around and saw one of the teachers of the school looking at them with an awkward smile*
Gabriela:can I help you family madrigal ?
Alma:ejem yes, yes you can. Can you take us to the teacher of mirabel madrigal?
Gabriela:that would be me, I'm surprised to see you all here normally you would be too busy
Gabriela said with her arm crossed, the implications of what Gabriela said did not go lost for them. Julieta placed the picture back in it's place and walked up next to her mother*
Julieta:yes, but we're here now and would like to have a talk with you if your not too busy.
Gabriela: I'm never too busy for the betterment of my students let's go to my classroom so we can talk in private
Gabriela turned around and walked away with the madrigal following*
Meanwhile with Mirabel
We see Dolores, Antonio, and her reaching the orphanage, Antonio smiled brightly seeing his friends there*
Antonio:can you stay and play with us Mirabel? Please!
Antonio said with the most adorable puppy eyes. Sadly Mirabel was immune to them*
Mirabel;no can do Toñito i promised señor Miguel I would help in his bakery today.
Antonio:but can't you come play with us after your done?
Mirabel:sorry my little Tarzan but no. Dolores can't stay here since her gift would hurt her ears since you and your friends aren't exactly the quietest children in encanto
Mirabel said in a teasing tone poking Antonio's belly making him squirm an a short giggle escape his lips*
Antonio: can't Dolores just go to Casita without you?
Dolores obviously could hear her little brother and was a bit hurt by that statement. Mirabel gave a soft frown at Antonio*
Mirabel:Antonio that was not a nice thing to say I Rai...I taught you better then that didn't I?
Antonio;sorry...
Antonio muttered a bit bittered, in his small child of a mind he was seeing it as if Dolores was stealing his mother away from him. Mirabel gave a small smile and kissed his forehead before getting up and petting parce*
Mirabel:I'll come get you both at the same time as usual, be good and I'll bring you both a snack ok?
Antonio nodded Mirabel turned around and walked towards Dolores. Dolores looked at Antonio and gave him a small smile of sympathy, Antonio just scowled angrily at her and turned to play with his friends*
Mirabel:alright let's go
Dolores:sure...
Mirabel and Dolores walked away, it was a quiet walk to the bakery, it wasn't awkward but nice at least for Mirabel. Dolores while she enjoyed the peaceful silence between them, felt the need to speak*
Dolores:Mirabel, I can just go back to Casita, so you can be with Antonio you know, it's no trouble
Mirabel:nope. You're staying with me the whole day, and don't listen to Antonio he's just being a little kid. I love him god knows I do but he can't be with me all the time he needs to make some friends his own age without me
Dolores:But...
Mirabel:but nothing, he'll be fine after sulking for a bit trust me. Now let's talk about something else, want to have a snack at the bakery? They make the best buñuelos oh! Maybe a crepe filled with chocolate and fruits
Mirabel without noticing started to ramble on about all the treats the bakery has, Dolores sighed with a tired smile*
Dolores"could've had a quiet walk but no, I had to open my big mouth"
With the adults
They made it to Gabriela's classroom, all 4 of them were sitting down. The madrigal were waiting for Gabriela to place her coffee cup away from her lips. Once she did the conversation started*
Gabriela:ah, liquid gold. Now what can I help you all with?
Alma: it's, just we need some clarification on some things we've been told last night
Gabriela:and those things would be?
Julieta:b..before that, can you answer me something?
Alma looked at Julieta who looked at her mother with a pleading look. Alma sighed and waved her hand to allow her to go first*
Gabriela:I don't see why not just raise your hand before you speak
Gabriela said in some attempt to make the room less tense*
Julieta:uh, right. All those trophy's and awards back there, they're from Mirabel?
Gabriela:yes, she's a real star student that one. One hell of an overachiever even to her own detriment
Julieta: then how come we were never told about any of these events?
Gabriela polite smile left her face and annoyed looked took its place*
Gabriela:I'm sorry I'm sorry? What did you just say? Why weren't you told? I think there must be some kind of confusion since I know for a fact that Mirabel did tell you, multiple times I might add i even saw her telling you a few times around the village
Gabriela said with her arm crossed not liking how the madrigal adults were already trying to place the blame on anywhere but themselves. Julieta eyes looked so desperate to find some kind of excuse*
Gabriela;in fact, didn't you all come for camilo's theater presentation? Or when Luisa had a wrestling competition? I've seen you all in every event for a madrigal child except for Mirabel
The madrigal adults felt as if someone gut punched them, Julieta looked down moments away from crying*
Alma;that's not really a fair accusations were the madrigal family were the most busy family in the encanto
Gabriela:so your busy when Mirabel has an event but not when any other member of your family has one?
Alma kept her lips tightly close as this teacher was having none of it*
Gabriela:yeah, if Mirabel wasn't the outlier I would've believed you. If I was in her shoes I would've stopped trying on event 3 but she kept trying up and until a few months ago
Agustín:why? What happened a few months ago?
That did it, that changed Gabriela from annoyed to angry. She gave a very noticable fake smile at Agustin*
Gabriela:gee I don't know Agustín maybe the fact that you celebrated Antonio's ceremony/BIRTHDAY but I don't remember a single mention on mirabel's quinceañera?
That broke the damn on Julieta, she covered her face with her hand as she tried to stop the crying but she couldn't. She knew she forgot something, she just thought it was something unimportant not something of this scale. Agustín looked like he's seen a ghost and alma wasn't doing much better. Gabriela got up and started walking out*
Gabriela:I'm gonna go take a walk around the school make sure my students aren't causing trouble takes me like 20 minutes take that time to compose yourselves so we can continue this discussion
Gabriela walked out and closed the door. The second Julieta heard that click was when her silent cries became louder as she rubbed her eyes furiously with only one thing on her mind*
Julieta "I'm a horrible mother..."
