Note: This is my take on the Megaman X series. Megaman X, along with all of its characters, is owned by Capcom. Aside from a few tweaks, the stories have mostly not changed. The order that this story will follow is the following: X1, X2, Xtreme 1, X3, Xtreme 2, X4, X5, X6, X7 and X8.

Los Angeles: April 14th, 21XX

Just off of the California coast, a team of construction workers are digging a hole in order to put a new building site there. They don't know what it will be yet because the owner has kept it a secret from their employees.

As the workers are working, an elderly man supervises their work. His name is Dr. Cain. He had been studying robotics and fossils since he was a little boy growing up in Denmark. When he was 18, he left Copenhagen for the United States to study robotics and got a degree in robotic engineering. He has since been one of the top robotic engineers of both the United States and Denmark.

At 6:00 PM, Dr. Cain decides to end the work day to begin inspecting the work.

Dr. Cain (megaphone): Alright boys, pack it up! The work day is over! Go Home!

The workers all begin to pack up and leave the construction site. Once they all go home, Dr. Cain begins to inspect the progress the workers have made. He goes into the hole to inspect further. As he is doing this, he feels something hard on his hand. Intrigued, he takes out a shovel and digs further.

After 3 hours of digging, he finds out that the hard item he felt was an abandoned laboratory. Fascinated, he goes into the abandoned lab to check it out. He enters the abandoned place only to see dirt, rust, dust and termites haunting the floors and walls.

Dr. Cain (thinking): Man, this place is run down. I don't think there's anything valuable in here, but I'll explore further just in case there is anything valuable in here.

As Dr. Cain explores further, find a room that says "Secret Project, Do Not Enter." Dr. Cain decides to enter the room. Once he gets in the room, he sees only one thing in front of him, a giant light blue capsule. He steps up to the capsule and looks at the blueprints. The blueprints are the outline for the project that he sees right in front of him.

The project is classified as "MEGAMAN X" and a note lies just below. It reads:

Dear Reader,

To whomever is receiving this letter, let me tell you about this robot. He is not simply a robot. He is the first of a new generation of robots named "Reploids" who have one new feature from the previous one. They have the ability to think and do for themselves. This has great possibilities and opportunities as well as great risks and worries. If "X" were to go berserk and break the first law of robotics "A Robot must never harm or kill a human '' then I worry that the effects could be catastrophic and no one or group could ever stop him.

This robot must stay in for 30 years in order to confirm his reliability. Unfortunately, I will be gone by the time that day comes. Since I don't have anyone to continue my work for me, I have decided to seal him away for a century to run the remaining tests. Reader, if you are reading this before the 100 years are up, I advise you to please not disturb the capsule.

I hope for the very best in the future and what his fate will be.

April 13th 20XX

As Dr. Cain finishes reading the note, he realizes that 100 years have passed since X was sealed away. After contemplating a bit, Dr. Cain makes the decision to awaken X. He presses the eject button on the side of the capsule. In seconds, the water from the capsule drains and x opens his eyes.

X (drowsy): Wh.. Where am I? Who are you?

Dr. Cain: I am your Master. Your creator is long gone. I have awakened you after your reliability tests were finished. When you were sealed away, your creator left you with a destiny to fulfill.

X: And what is that?

Dr. Cain: To be the face of the new generation of robots on this earth and to bring the world into a new phase of its life.
