Chapter 1
Hearts filled with Light
Ever heard the phrase "Heart of gold", someone that is true and right and not to mention full of kindness. Well, for our four young heroes that is just the case. Our story begins in a small suburban area just outside of New York City where our four soon to be hero's live.
First is Mike Spectrum, a young boy with short brownish-black hair, light pale skin and he's most defining feature, he's golden colored eyes. Mike is what you would call a "Good Samaritan", he is always willing to help people no matter what. He would even go as far and give up the clothes on his back to help someone in need. Sure he's helpful nature has gotten him into trouble now and again, mostly with shifty people, but thanks to a little martial arts training he usually came out okay, if not a little banged up. Even if his kindness was misused or spat upon he never let it get to him and always kept on moving forward.
The second one is Arthur Caliber, a tan young fellow, with slightly long blond hair that reaches down to his neck and very green eyes. Arthur moved to America from his country of England with his mother. Unfortunately his father died in a car crash when Arthur was ten. Many people, including his friends, always called him a "modern knight" due to his chivalries ways and his courage in the face of horrible odds. Of course the young knight also had a … geeky side, mostly about the world of magic. Arthur loved magic, from party tricks to ancient texts and stones, but his favorite type of magic was divination more specifically tarot cards. Some people call this bogus or fake but for Arthur he thought this stuff was cool and surprisingly enough he's predictions were actually quite accurate, thus gaining the nickname "Modern Merlin".
The third boy was Caleb Kin Temple, a mixed race of American and Japanese, while also having short unkempt black hair and soft blue eyes. His father and mother met during their college years when the two of them were paired up for a robotics project and it was there that their "spark" was lit. Caleb was taught by his mother about the concepts of honor and respect, like that of a samurai, while his father taught him everything there is to know about technology and robotics, making him a grade A student in all things mechanical. Of course due to his heritage he was picked on a lot by people because of it, but he never let it take him down, instead he merely "turned the other check" and kept on doing good and upholding his father and mother's teachings.
The fourth one and certainly not lest is Ben Fossil, the shortest and youngest member of the group. He had very tan skin, curly brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Ben's parents are well known archeologists, which mean Ben has been "around the block" but he's parents and him finally settled down in New York and enjoyed a life of relaxation. Ben has been known to be laid back and tended to joke a lot but still has a caring heart and knows when to joke and when to be serious.
You see these four have been friends since they were babies; they grew up together and had each other's backs through thick and through. Even when the time came for the four of them to move out they all decided to become roommates to help split the rent. During their time together they sort of made a name for themselves due to them helping people all across New York, from things like helping homeless people on the street, bringing toys to kids in the orphanage and even volunteering for community service. Yes it was true that they had selfless hearts but it didn't mean they had hobbies one of which is watching there favorite T.V series, Power Rangers.
You see Power Rangers was sort of like the glue that held them all together, even when they did turn 19 they still watched it to this day. Unfortunately being geeks and nice guys does bring up some problems one of which is their single status. It seemed that most women just wanted to use them to get what they want due to their "goody two shoes" attitude but luckily they weren't gullible so they didn't fall for it very easily but it left a bad taste for dating in their mouths. So for most of their lives they have been alone with each other and suffered much heartache…until one faithful day changed everything or should I say night.
It was middle of the night and everyone had just come back home from their jobs, so after a hard day's work they deiced to "veg-out" if you will and relax. But as they were about to enter their apartment something caught their eye. There in their mailbox was a single pink envelope addressed to the four of them. Curious they then opened the letter they were greeted by two things, a note and a small bird's feather. Confused by this they then read the letter to find out what the feather or any of this was for and it read.
"You all have had lives of heart break and loneliness…no more. With the power that will be granted to you, I ask you all one thing. Please teach the young birds love, true love"
As soon as the four of them read those words, the feather in Mike's hand then started to glow with a pinkish light that seemed grow and enveloped them all. By the time the light had died down, the four of them were gone, leaving nothing behind but the note and the single feather but one thing did change however…the feather had turned gold.
