In a park, a young man and woman are seen making out in a car. "Oh, Justin." The woman addresses her lover. "You're the greatest."
"Thanks, Jem." The young man named Justin replied. "I told you this spot is awesome."
Unbeknownst to them, a creature was lurking in the bushes, and for some reason, stares sadly at the couple over there, like it lost something of importance to it.
"The night is so beautiful."
"Yep."
The creature only continued to look but walked away.
You're probably curious about the creature in the bushes. What is it, and why was it looking at those teens? The creature is named Xenon, or at least Blake Hoskins, and he's a chameleon. He no longer bears the curse of death. But there was a time when he did and had another problem: being a monster. Long ago, he made a horrible mistake in The Big Apple. Here's the story of the monster referred to as Xenon and how he gained the only friends he could ever get, called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and how they helped who was him. It all started on a normal day when he was still, what you might call him, a monster. When he was Xenon, he was always looking for trouble. But what choice did he have? He needed to survive.
Xenon hides in silhouette in a dark alley deeply growling and sees a mini mart. Then he disappears when changing color, and sneaks towards the mini mart and enters through the roof. While he climbs on the ceiling still camouflaged, Xenon takes a few bananas, bread, peanut butter, and steaks with a long sticky tongue. "Yes!" He exclaimed before smacking his tongue, but just as he was about to leave, a security guard shoots warning shots at Xenon.
"HEY, CHAMELEON GUY!" The guard shouts. "You're not leaving without paying for that stuff, so don't move a mus—" Xenon decamouflages. CLLLLLEE?! GOOD GOD!" Xenon roars and spits at him with slime. "Eeew!" The security guard suddenly weakened. "Aaarrgh! What—What is this stuff! AAARRRGH! AHHHGH!" He gets paralyzed, but otherwise is alright.
Everyone look at Xenon and he roars at them, causing panic and the mutant monster leaves with the stolen food.
What can I say? He needs food wherever he can find it. But that's not the worst of his problems. Police cars came in and coming out of them is a police officer and his female partner.
"Ok, Mr. Abomination, think you could just go ahead and steal from people and/or parasite them like you own the place?" The cop confronted Xenon. "Well, I have other plans!"
"You tell him, ol' partner!" His partner agreed.
Suddenly, without a warning, Xenon vanishes!
"Dah! He's gone!"
"Oh, I bet he was a chameleon!"
"Then that was one ugly chameleon if it was one."
"Well, what makes you think it wasn't?"
Xenon comes out of camouflage mode and roars at the cops as they scream in terror.
"Oh, for the love of Pete!" One of the cops exclaimed before zapping at Xenon, but the monster chameleon remains unharmed by the electricity, and Xenon fires the electricity back at the officer. "YAAAAAAOOOOWCH!" He falls to the ground.
Xenon looks at the other cop.
"EEK! PLEASE DON'T HURT ME! WE'LL LET YOU OFF WITH A WARNING, I PROMISE!" She pleaded. Xenon runs off without saying a thing or even doing anything to the police officer. "Uh…I'm confused. It harmed you but didn't do a thing to me."
"Ow. Lucky for you, it's possibly like certain animals, targets males when challenged, but doesn't harm a female or do anything to them unless it's breeding season."
Xenon hears the whole thing in secret, and growls sadly but quietly. I bet you're wondering why he didn't harm that lady. Well, two things. One: He's a gentleman, and a gentleman, even if they are monsters, usually never harms a lady. But he has a greater reason than just good manners. He had a girlfriend named Kate. He also had a sister who cared for him no matter what. He had their trust, but Xenon ruined everything. His sister was upset with everyone chasing him away that she ended up going insane and tried to use his work to make an army of monsters, resulting in her getting arrested and sent somewhere far away. And Kate…was heartbroken. Xenon doesn't know if she still loves him or not. He has doubts she's looking for him. He used to believe who would ever care for a monster. Guess this needs explaining what I mean by work. Well, here's the thing.
Five years ago, back in Xenon's glory days, he was a medical biologist who was very famous for creating many kinds of medicines, including pills that makes a land creature breathe underwater for 24 hours. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Anyway, on with the real problem. He became determined to create a medicine that would make a person's life better and more efficient. So, he mixed many DNA genes into one sample, many of which include a chameleon's ability to change color. He decided to test it on his pet rat, and it worked well. The rat was a more efficient species than. Little did Xenon know that this DNA would change his life forever. After he showed Kate about his new discovery, she was a little…reluctant. She asked him if he knew what he was doing, and Xenon thought he was sure he was. But when Kate saw the rat, she was disgusted. She warned Xenon not to use it, but he refused. If ONLY he had listened to her in the first place! Anyways, before he could introduce this new medicine to the public, he needed to test it on himself, and he did. He looked pretty ugly, but it didn't matter to him. But it did to them. How unlucky of him to live in a society concerned with appearances, and the unfortunate existence of considering those not considered physical perfection to be "ugly". Well, sorry if evolution and genetics is not always pretty to look at. People looked at him in disgust, ridicule and they even insulted his appearance. Why? BECAUSE OF A BLASTED NATROLIST MAYOR! That bastard mayor had Xenon's labs shut down for good and declared him an abomination. It was horrible! He lost everything. But it only got worse when the mutated rat appeared dead. The pet rat had died in less than five days. It was risky, but Xenon had to sneak into his shut down labs and find out why this happened, and he did. Turns out, the medicine had five phases of mutations. Those phases introduced too many gene traits for Xenon's metabolism to hold. As a result, the rat died because it's metabolism collapsed. He realized that he only had FIVE YEARS to find the cure before his metabolism shuts down completely. But before he could, a teargas grenade is thrown into the lab, and Xenon gets knocked out and taken away by the police. He found himself in a jail cell after his knockout and had no idea how to escape. That was when he discovered he had abilities far beyond his comprehension. He had to escape and find his labs and Kate to end it once and for all. However, he was shocked to see that his labs were DESTROYED! It was by the order of the mayor, that selfish nature-obsessed anti-science bastard! Then he saw Kate walking down the street in front of him. He tried to reason with her, but she screamed.
"OH MY GOD, A MONSTER!" Kate screams and runs away.
Xenon lost everything that day. His home, his girlfriend, and his one chance to make things normal. He had no way to cure himself, and he was doomed to die within five years.
He had at least found out why people were afraid, and how that stupid mayor was able to easily militate them. There were a lot of reasons. One, the X-men comics introduce a lot of hideous, and/or very evil mutants, so mutants are naturally feared. Second, because the practice of mutation has often proved disastrous. Many cases of mutants seeking to dominate the "Normals" as they called regular people, one such nutcase was a crazed Charles Darwin fan named Ed. It was also because mutants belonged in the monster category, and monsters in general do not have a good track record because of ancient history like vampires, werewolves, mummies, alien monsters, prehistoric fish people, horror movie monsters, sci-fi monsters and most X-men villains. Xenon is judged because of the sins of others. And who can blame them? He hasn't exactly become any better than the creatures mentioned. At least all he is doing is stealing food and freaking people out. It's not like he is eating and killing people or anything. No, for the time being, he still has his sentient intellect. It's what kept him from becoming like other monsters… for now. It has already been five years since the incident. For now, his intelligence prevented him from going too far. But he is afraid. It's only a matter of time before…he becomes what everyone thinks of him. He even wishes he would die before it can even get there. He actually hopes he will die in a completely isolated area away from people. Before he becomes a true monster. But he never counted on something special or meeting the most amazing and forgiving group of heroes that dare stare down the face or true adversity, and say they done it before. And while he never knew it would happen, but they would soon become his friends. Neither of them just didn't know it yet.
So, this is my first "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" story. It's to honor "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" which is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 2nd. Hope you've enjoyed this first chapter. There'll be more to come soon!
