It's a dark night outside the city of Vale: birds are chirping, beowolves are howling, and an angry highschooler is killing ursas with a pistol and a yellow katana. At least that is how it looks to an onlooking 3rd year team from beacon academy who are all standing in a tree. "Should we help him?" Questioned Azure, a blue-eyed lynx faunus. "I don't see a team nearby and he looks kinda young to be a solo huntsman." The angry teenager removes a few more limbs from a nearby ursa before bisecting the one behind him. "Nahhh. He seems to have it handled," jokes Chamile his blond-haired friend. "Besides, do you want to deal with that?" She sarcastically waves her hand over towards the angry teenager. Their team leader bops her on the head. "Now, now. We can always help him once he's worn out. Though… I didn't expect you of all people to be afraid of a moody teen." The leader of team EACO, Emile is shorter than his other teammates, but his relaxed and thoughtful attitude helps the team work coherently… "Fine. I will go deal with him!" Most of the time. "No Wait!" The final member of the team, Orchard, a large pink haired lady grabs Chamile's belt, preventing her from running towards the teen who is still firing bullets. "Wait till he's done. You're going to get shot."
Shuuji on the other hand has been having an absolutely terrible day. First, that Tomakoma Traitor Jin wouldn't quit trying to talk to him for some reason. Second, that neighbor has decided to try befriending him. Third, some random gate has opened and now he's surrounded by trion soldiers that don't attack robotically like they normally done. Finally, he is running low on trion due to one of the pesky trion bears hitting his leg earlier. A large trion bird has started shooting feathers at him. Now in addition to dealing with attacks on the ground he must manage at least one of shields overhead to avoid getting hit. Ridding himself of the enemy in the air first would be key to avoid getting overwhelmed by enemies on the ground. After slashing at another bear, he runs towards a clearing to his left. The spacing gives him just enough time to shoot an asteroid at the problematic bird.
"I wonder if that's his semblance?" wondered Chamile. Her friend Orchard considers it whilst tapping her foot against the tree. "The shields probably are, but it might be possible that his bullets are part of it." Emile looks puzzled for a couple of seconds. "I guess that could be possible. They do seem around the strength of the dust bullets and they don't have as much visible recoil." Azure who was keeping an eye on the angry teen while the others discussed possible semblances suddenly shifted his weight forward causing branch to lightly bounce. Emile questioned him "Azure what's the change?" Azure readied his rifle "He may need assistance soon. There is a deathstalker approaching and the other Grimm aren't letting him out of the clearing."
The problematic bird did not fall. It has quit attacking for the time being though. These bears aren't letting him leave the clearing though which will leave him vulnerable if the bird starts attacking again. This whole mess would be a lot easier if he had Fujin but it was given to Ko for training. He tried shooting at the bird again, this time with lead bullet. It hit the bird's undamaged left wing and it started slowing falling away from to clearing due to the lopsided weight. Abruptly a sharp object appeared in the corner of his vision. He leapt away to left but his injury from earlier limited his range. The gold object stabbed him in the side. Putting one hand to his side to control the trion loss he switches his main weapon from the kogetsu to the gunner trigger. Standing before him was a freakish marmod-scorpion hybrid. He shot behind himself at some of the bears and managed to finally start backing away into the woods. The scorpion's attack is putting him dangerously close to critical trion loss and there is not a way to bail out. Another attack by the scorpion was close to hitting him but a loud shot went off and distracted the scorpion.
"He definitely needs help now." Azure aimed and shot at the deathstalker. "I can keep the deathstalker distracted. Can you three help the teen? He looks injured?" Emile hops down from the tree with the other two pulling out his dual chain gun. "No worries, just focus on the deathstalker. Chamile, Orchard can you two get close to the angry teen and handle the ursas that are harassing him from behind? I'll handle the ones still in the clearing." Chamile started running over to the angry teen in distress while Orcard covered her with her gun blade, taking down ursas along the way.
Two humanoid neighbors start moving in his direction getting rid of bears along the way. They are probably from a neighboring world since they are destroying the trion soldiers rather than attacking them. He points his pistol at them just in case they are a danger. They tend to be significantly more difficult to fight than simple mindless trion soldiers. "Hey angry teen, we are here to help in your time of distress!" The blond-haired lady with the strange ax trigger shouted at him. This lady is a lunatic. "Back off neighbor." He snarled at her, the pistol still pointing towards them. The less crazy looking with pink hair calmly replied, "I get that you're kind of freaked out right now. I need you to put down the gun though so that we can make sure you're not too badly injured. If you think you can wait for treatment, then you can come with my team, and we'll get you away from all these Grimm."
The angry teen who Chamile put further on guard finally started lowering his weapon while clearing keeping a close eye on us and the Grimm that Emile is getting rid of. He walks towards us with his right hand still covering his side. He appears to have a cut on his leg, but it isn't bleeding so overall it seems to be alright. "Let's go. Azure is still back by the tree, and we can be covered there while Emile wraps up." The teen silently follows us as we jog back cutting down a few more ursas along the way or in the teen's case, shooting them.
Azure who had been shooting the deathstalker finally took it down with assistance from Emile. Chamile and Orchard escorted the angry teen back to the tree. Azure being the mother hen that he is, immediately started asking everyone how their aura levels were. Miwa assumed that aura was a code for trion and so he cautiously replied that he was low. Orchard and Chamile on the other hand still were at three quarters or so according to their scrolls. The nevermore that crashed earlier somehow got in line of sight of the group. It shot out its feathers and one of them hit the teen. A cloud of smoke appeared leaving the teen in school clothing rather than the combat clothes he was wearing before.
A feather hit him, breaking through the last-minute shield. Critical trion loss bailout. He was left in his regular body with the school uniform he was wearing earlier that day. The man with cat ears looked absolutely panicked at the change. The panicked looking man quickly shot his rifle at the bird before turning back and starting a half-interrogation. "Are you okay?" the man cried "What injuries do you have? Did you shatter your aura?" Shuuji grumpily replied "I am fine. I just can't be in combat for a bit." The worried man calmed down before handing him off to the pink hair lady. "Don't let anything happen to him you two." The man then jogged over to meet up with the last member of the group: a small orange-haired man with a gun and chain trigger.
Emile finished getting rid of the remaining ursas. Azure jogged over. "The teen seems to be alright, but he is next to out of aura." Emile met up with Azure and they walked back to the rest of the group. The grumpy teen who somehow had an outfit change was being held protectively by Orchard. He looks like he might lose his temper with Chamile who is bouncing all over the place. Sighing Emile addresses the group. "So team, plus teenager we seem to have a situation here." He gestures at Miwa "You, are probably not supposed to be out here and none of us are interested in getting you in trouble."
The team looks at each other and comes to some sort of silent agreement. "We don't trust you not to go off on your own and we would like you to stay in once piece. The time for enrollment at our combat academy has passed for this year but the annual senior prank is still coming up. That being said, we would like to smuggle into our school for our senior prank and in exchange, you get a free place to stay and meals to eat so long as the professors don't catch you!"
AN: Hello everyone. This one was a spur of the moment idea. I watched all of the World trigger that is available but I only watched RWBY up through volume 5. I like many of the characters and ideas that come from the later volumes, but I had a preference for students ending up in chaos during school and learning from it rather than world ending scenarios. That aside this was quite fun to write. I couldn't quite figure out how to write Miwa and still have him interact with other characters. If I continue this one in the future I plan on having Miwa getting a chance to move forward with his grief rather than festering in anger. At some point though I want to take the opportunity to figure out how aura would react with trion.
In season one of the anime (I did read the earlier manga too) trion loss was shown with light green particle which are somewhat reminiscent of the light from aura. In seasons 2 and 3 though the particles look closer to what the Grimm have so I may have some fun with that.
Enjoy!
