Chapter 2: The Book of Legends
Bulma shows up with Chi-Chi, the Ox King, Master Roshi and Korin in Bulma's personal airship.
"Gohan, my Gohan, where are you?!"
"I'm here, mom."
"Where's Yamcha," Bulma asked.
"He died in battle," Krillin says with a heavy heart
"Don't worry Bulma, Piccolo is still alive, so we can wish Yamcha back to life," Tien points out.
"There's another issue we need to worry about, if Vegeta gathers the dragon balls on planet Namek, I don't need to say what would happen," Piccolo lays out his thoughts
Planet Namek? There's another set of dragon balls? What's going on guys? Bulma wants to know.
"Long story short, the saiyan Vegeta recognized Piccolo as a Namekian and since Kami was able to create dragon balls, he figured other Namekians could do so as well, after his escape, Vegeta eventually plans to visit Namek to get the dragon balls, so he can wish to become immortal", Krillin summarizes the gist of the situation.
"So let's go to Namek to prevent him from becoming immortal."
"Well first things first, let's get Goku to the hospital so he can heal up," Roshi says.
"Piccolo, you coming with us?" Goku asks
"Tsk!"
Piccolo follows them all back into the airship
"This is not going to work. I hate to point out the elephant in the room, but we don't know where Namek is," says Bulma.
"I know someone who can help us find out. King Kai you listening?" Goku asks
"I heard everything. Hold on while I locate planet Namek…"
"Woah there's a talking voice, so that's King Kai?" Surprise is all over Krillin's face
"Found it, it's at the coordinates 9045XY."
"9045XY?! That's…" Bulma calculates the distance.
"It's impossible, it would take thousands of years to go there with our current technology. We would need a ship on par with saiyan spaceship's technology."
"Luckily the big saiyan who came here, his spaceship is still here. We can use that," Krillin suggests.
"I brought the remote to his spaceship, just in case it would be useful."
"That could work, we could modify it, so it could carry more people!"
Later in the hospital Bulma visits the Z warriors and co..
"Hey guys, turn on the TV."
"Not good, the scientist already found the spaceship," Master Roshi worries.
"Don't worry about it, I took a look at the remote control last night, it will be at my place in no time flat. I just have to press this button."
It flies off to Mr. Brief's place.
"Well that's that. I'll see you guys when my father and I are done redesigning it."
"Mom, I'm going to," Gohan says with determination
Not a chance! You almost died fighting those brutes and you already missed too much cram school. Let the adults handle this.
"No, I'm going! The others need all the help they can get, I can't just turn a blind eye when friends are in danger! Yamcha even died for me!"
"You have a way with words kid," Yajirobe tells Gohan
"Chi Chi, Gohan has a point, let him go to space," the Ox king chimes in
Some time later, Piccolo, Tien, Krillin, Gohan and Bulma all board the ship.
"We might as well get some training in while we're traveling," Piccolo notes.
"Image training it is. What do you say, Gohan, do you want to go at it?" Krillin asks.
"Yeah" Gohan replies
"Come at me," Piccolo says to Tien.
"Very well, Piccolo".
A month later…
"We finally arrived at Namek," Bulma alerted everyone.
The Z warriors jump out of the ship, Bulma comes out with a space suit.
"Would it kill you guys to be more cautious?! Honestly why do I bother," Bulma is beside herself with frustration.
"What's got Bulma angry," Gohan asks innocently
"Who knows," Krillin replies honestly.
A Namekian flies toward them, with a crystal orb floating next to him. He's wearing baggy pants similar to Namekians, but it's all black, along with a black cloak.
"That Namekian, I can't feel his ki, feels like something is blocking my ki sense, it seems a bit different from Tien's ki masking technique." Krillin thinks
"What a surprise, a Namekian I had never seen before and his group came to planet Namek. Hi, my name is Hammer."
"I'm Piccolo, this is Gohan, Tien, and Krillin, we're from earth. We came to stop a saiyan from stealing your dragon balls."
"You know about the dragon balls? I take that to mean you have dragon balls on your planet. Well, there is a tyrant on this planet, who's planning to take it over. He has a humongous ki, you guys won't stand a chance as you are, but I can sense it, you have tremendous potential. I can unlock that potential in exchange, please help us."
"Well it's worth a shot, but I don't know if you'll be able to unlock any power from me. I already reached my limit long ago." Krillin says
Hammer places his hand on Krillin's head and unlocks his potential.
"!" Everyone is stunned by Krillin's amazing power.
"I have the powaaa!" Krillin says
They all get their power unlocked until there's only 2 left. Piccolo goes next.
After unlocking Piccolo's potential, a unique phenomenon happens, Piccolo experiences a magic induced flashback.
"As my child, the son of Katas you bear great responsibility. I don't have long to live. I'm going to transfer the Book of Legends to you. This is a magical book that's directly transferred to the mind of my successor. This book contains knowledge of legends and many techniques, you would normally be able to instantly use those techniques when you can access the book. However as you are now, you aren't powerful enough to access the book, it will lay dormant in your memories."
Piccolo relayed this information to everyone.
"So you're the son of the great Katas, the former guardian of Namek?!" Hammer is greatly surprised.
"Can you access the Book of Legends at the moment?" Hammer asks
"Only a portion of it. I gained a few new powerful techniques. "
"I likely don't have a potential nearly as grand as Piccolo." Tien says
"No, you're wrong, your potential is so high I can't unlock, but a small portion of it." Hammer says to Tien.
All of a sudden Tien's 3rd eye glows blue.
'My mind has sharpened so much, I can feel everything, everything is one; everything is connected. I can feel how everything influences each other. Is this Karma?' Tien thinks to himself.
Unfortunately he can't maintain the state as he is now, but…
"I can feel it, the power dwelling within this 3rd eye!" Tiens states ecstatically
"You guys go on and do what you said you'll do. Don't tell anyone who helped you, I would like to remain anonymous." Hammer says
Goku is finally on his way to Namek, after eating senzu beans from Korin and using the other spaceship Bulma and Dr. Briefs made to travel there. It will only take 6 days of training under several times normal gravity to reach there.
Kiwi thinks about what transpired a while ago:
"Let me get this straight Namekian, you're telling me that the dragon balls were already used and I have to wait a year to be able to use them?! Me, Lord Freeza?!"
"There's nothing that can be done, so you might as well go back to where you came from."
Zarbon whispers something into Freeza's ear.
"Fantastic idea Zarbon, let's go with your suggestion to take over Namek until the time the dragon balls are ready to be used again." Freeza grins evilly.
"What?! You can't." the elder Namekian says
"Don't worry Namekians, you still have a chance. I won't get involved personally with taking over Namek, Zarbon you, Dodoria and Kiwi will take your forces and conquer Namek yourself, Don't kill all the Namekians. Report back every hour with an update on your will be a fun game. Oh, and if you 3 can't conquer Namek yourselves I'll call in someone who can." Freeza orders them.
"Dodoria, Kiwi, let's split up, this will go quicker that way, keep your scouters on channel 15B, just in case the small chance we come across trouble. Maintain a medium distance from each other so we can help other at a moment's notice"
All of sudden…
"A saiyan space pod is landing nearby, it must be Vegeta. Finally I can destroy that smug bastard. "
The space pod opens.
"Vegeta, you idiot! You dare slight Freeza?! Now I finally can end you. Do you hear that, Vegeta?!"
"You always were a fool, Kiwi."
"Vegeta, just how did you manage to get weaker?"
"This is the answer to your question!" Vegeta's powers up
"What?! How are you able to hide your true power level at will?"
"It's something I picked up on earth, slackers like you will stagnate, while saiyans grow infinitely from battle!"
"Kiwi stall Vegeta, Dodoria make your way to his location as soon as you can. We'll be there soon" Zarbon says
"Wait Vegeta, I'll ask for forgiveness for you, to Freeza."
"You're actually stupid enough to think that would work?"
"Why not? We haven't tried it. It could be possible!"
"Knowing you, you would just betray me, as soon as you were in Freeza's presence. Enough stalling Kiwi, it's time to die!"
Out of nowhere Kiwi shoots a storm of ki blasts at Vegeta, but they never hit him. Vegeta chopes him in the back of the neck and Kiwi neck breaks and he dies.
Zarbon and Dodoria show up simultaneously in front of Vegeta in the air.
"Vegeta, you've done something you shouldn't. That's alright, me and Zarbon will take care of yo-"
Vegeta rushes at Dodoria, while a ki ball intercepts him from Zarbon. Vegeta stops and deflects the blast right at Dodoria.
"Damnit!" Dodoria hurriedly blocks and skids backwards.
Another ki blast was sent at Dodoria and another one quickly sent at Zarbon. The ki ball Vegeta sent at Dodoria collided with the other ki ball Dodoria was blocking and exploded. Zarbon dodges Vegeta ki ball barely. Vegeta comes up from behind him and hammers his fist onto Zarbon's head, knocking him into the ground. Vegeta appears right beside Zarbon and kicks him towards Dodoria, inside the smoke.
"Don't tell me that's the best you two got!" Vegeta patronizes Dodoria and Zarbon.
"Haaa!" Dodoria throws his best attack, a ki beam from his mouth at Vegeta.
Vegeta is about to block it when a transformed Zarbon grabs him from behind.
Boom! Vegeta and Zarbon are both damaged, but Vegeta, taking the brunt of the attack, has a badly damaged left arm. Zarbon takes a while to gather himself, as he is somewhat exhausted from Dodoria's attack. Dodoria rushes at Vegeta head first, hitting him in his stomach, causing him to skid backwards somewhat. Vegeta elbows him into the ground. Seeing an opportunity, Zarbon gets up and kicks at Vegeta's damaged left arm, however Vegeta just starts an aerial flip over his leg. Midway in the air he contorts his body to get ready for the kick, then when he's right side up kicks Zarbon, knocking him away.
"Well, well Vegeta, you're not as good as you thought!" Dodoria smugly announces.
Zarbon whispers "Dodoria I'll give you some of my ki, don't use it until I say. I'll be the main attacker while you'll attack his left side."
"Okay."
Dodoria and Zarbon travel at high speeds and punch respectively at Vegeta's left and right sides.
"Haaa!" Vegeta releases an explosive wave of ki, knocking them back into the rocks.
"Huff, huff, huff," Zarbon and Dodoria are tiring.
"You'll die long before I will Dodoria", Vegeta says confidently.
No you will! Dodoria attacks Vegeta with Zarbon following suit
They all clash continuously, but it's obvious who has the upper hand. Zarbon and Dodoria are taking some hard hits, so is Vegeta. However, Vegeta is able to avoid attacks to his vital points, while Zarbon and Dodoria aren't able to.
Vegeta knocks Zarbon away, but that leaves him open to attack from Dodoria.
"It's over, Vegeta!" Dodoria yells
Dodoria attacks Vegeta's neck, but Vegeta at first dodges a little by moving his head and then catches Dodoria's arm with his head and shoulder. Vegeta then quickly shifts his shoulder upwards in a spontaneous motion to break Dodoria's elbow.
"Ahhhh!"
Vegeta stabs arm into Dodoria.
All of a sudden Dodoria explodes.
"I'm sorry Dodoria, but you had no chance to survive after Vegeta's attack. The ki I gave you, was actually to ensure that if you were fatally injured, I could cause you to explode. At least this way I can survive in your place," Zarbon rationalizes his sneak attack.
Looks like Vegeta is dead.
Zarbon is about to leave when Hammer teleports behind him with his crystal orb floating to his side, Zarbon and kills him in one blast.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Vegeta questions
"I'm a Namekian. Wait, you're a saiyan aren't you?"
"What of it?"
"I can help you grow stronger beyond your wildest dreams!"
"Why would you do that?"
"There's no point in asking, you'll die on your own if you don't take my help. Here eat this demonic seed, not only will it save your life, but it will make you much stronger!" Hammer states the facts.
"You better not be trying to get one over on me!"
Vegeta eats the seed and all his wounds heal. Not only that, but his muscles become more buffed. His aura has an evil feel to it. It's now red and black and he has much more ki.
"What is this?!"
"It's demonic ki, you're partly transformed into a demon, therefore bringing out your genetic potential. Demonic ki is easier to grow than regular ki. The more suffering you cause, the more you'll stimulate the demonic seed, it will grow and change more and more of your ki to demonic ki, making you even stronger. Demons born of demonic seeds even gain superior healing abilities!" Hammer explains
"As thanks for this new power, I will give you a choice, tell me where the dragon balls are or die." Vegeta unsurprisingly demands info from Hammer.
"If you're looking to make a wish, then I'm afraid you are too late. There were wishes made recently before you came here. It will take a year for the dragon balls to recharge enough to be usable." Hammer tells Vegeta his situation.
Hammer activates his magic orb and teleports away.
"I told those buffoons to report back every hour, they couldn't even handle a small task like that. Time to call in the Ginyu Force." Freeza is livid.
