Chapter 4: Detective Kyoko vs. Koto Kid

Hello again, once again, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Ultimates of all ages! wesst1 back again, once again, and today, we're going with a DR1 girl, The Ultimate Detective, herself, Kyoko!

I have seen everyone's suggestions, and I promise I will do my best to get to them, but when an idea pops into my head, I need to get it out or I can't write anything else, believe me I tried. So, please don't be discouraged that I haven't used your idea yet. I will try my best. I should actually probably write them down when I see them, so I don't lose them.

To answer a question I've been getting: No, Komaru will not be a girl in the main fic. I originally decided to do this fic because people were asking for smut in Everyday Life with Ultimate Girls and I didn't really think it would have worked in that story. This is my attempt to keep those readers satisfied.

Speaking of being satisfied: Is everyone satisfied with this fic's continued existence? I noticed that some people think I'm spoiling Everyday Life and I don't really understand why. To clarify: this fic is intended to have about as much of an effect on Everyday Life as Danganronpa IF had on Danganronpa's continuity, which is to say not a whole lot, just a fun little experiment. If I haven't been clear on that, I do apologize and hope you'll all stick with me.

I feel like I should warn everyone, this chapter is probably going to seem like it belongs in SHSL Guardian Logs for quite a while. Kyoko just didn't seem like a character I could write a scenario where I could jump straight into the action. I hope you will all enjoy this chapter to the very end.

I'm sorry for how long it took to get this out. I must confess, I've been in quite a slump lately.

Anyway, enough of my insane ramblings, let's get to the reason we're all here: Detective on Luckster action!

Kirigiri was in a good mood this morning. It was her turn in DOI and she had finally gotten her fantasy scenario just the way she wanted it. She felt a little bad for Naegi though, his role was a little more complicated than he was used to, although she had faith that he would be fine.

If Naegi had any concerns about his role, he didn't show it. Kirigiri knew how hard he had been practicing to get into character since she had told him what scenario they would be working with, and she was touched at the effort he had put into this for her.

I'm not surprised, though. He's always like this, trying his hardest for the sake of someone else, Kirigiri thought with a slight blush. In the year that she had known Naegi, even she was amazed at how much she had changed. That said, no matter how much she changed, she would always be a detective at heart, and it was that aspect of her that was at the core of her fantasy.

"Fukawa-san and Shirogane-san really outdid themselves with this one," Naegi said as he smoothed out his costume and reviewed his lines one final time before they began.

"Agreed. Though, I had to compromise on a few things to get their cooperation, I'm sure it will be worth it," Kirigiri told Naegi as she thought about some of the additions the girls had demanded in exchange for their help. Looking back at Naegi, she asked, "Shall we begin?"

"Ready when you are, Chief."

That earned a small smile from Kirigiri. He's already getting into character. Good, she told herself, as she stepped inside of DOI and started her fantasy.

It was early morning as Detective Kirigiri Kyoko sat in her office overlooking downtown Tokyo with a look of intense focus on a piece of paper in front of her.

My Lovely Lavender Detective,

I hope this letter finds you well. I know that I have been distant lately, but there have been no jewels that have really caught my interest. Fortunately for us both, that has changed. The prize I am after this time is a beauty beyond compare. As I am sure you are aware, the owner of Pekin Pharmaceuticals, Pekin Hideki will be hosting a party this weekend. He will be showing off his prized possession, the Augur's Amethyst and everyone who is anyone will be there. Shall we meet at the party, say at around midnight? Between the beautiful scenery, the delectable food, and the live entertainment, I'm sure it will be a night to remember!

Yours,

Koto Kid

"He couldn't have picked a worse time to pull a stunt like this," Kirigiri sighed as she massaged her temples. An understandable reaction, and one she was sure that the Tokyo Metropolitan Police would share when they received their own calling card from Koto Kid. For over the past two months, Kirigiri and the police had been embroiled in missing persons investigations. At least once or twice a week, a new case was opening about a missing woman and after two months, Kirigiri, the city's other detectives, and even the police had not found a single clue. Any and all witnesses led to a dead end. Not one of the women's dates had any recollection of where they had been, how they had gotten home, or even that there had been a date the previous evening in the first place. Not a single test they ran or any expert they used could detect any lie in these accounts, leaving law enforcement and private investigators baffled.

Kirigiri was grateful to Koto Kid for one thing, though. The longer this investigation dragged on, the more people lost faith in her, the other detectives, and in the Metropolitan Police. Kirigiri had been on the receiving end of hit pieces, cancellations from clients, and hate mail, both from the public and from criminals she had helped catch. Criminal or not, Koto Kid's compliments helped her more than she would ever admit publicly.

Stop it! Acting like a lovestruck girl who just got a letter from her secret admirer, what is wrong with you, Kyoko? Kirigiri chided herself. With another sigh, Kirigiri reached a conclusion, "Once the missing women are found, I need to take a vacation. Preferably a long one."

"Mind if I come along, Chief? I actually have a private villa that I know you would just love," a voice called. Kirigiri's self-appointed assistant Naegi Makoto had just got back with their lunch. "Assistant" might have been pushing it. Naegi was the son of a wealthy family and heir to a private security company that had known Kirigiri since childhood. He was always following her around like a lost puppy back then, just as he was now, but they hardly worked together enough for him to be her assistant.

"I'll think about it. Right now, I need to go speak with Inspector Samidare. Koto Kid has decided we don't have enough trouble and decided to invite me to his next attempted theft," Kirigiri told Naegi as she grabbed her jacket.

"Well, everyone considers you Kid's archenemy. And is it really 'attempted' theft? He does steal those jewels, he just returns them afterwards," Naegi pointed out as he followed her out of her office.

"Don't remind me! Letting him get away is bad enough but letting him actually escape with his prize is unforgivable," Kirigiri growled.

"Sorry Chief. I didn't mean anything by it." After Naegi's apology, an awkward silence hung about the two as they made their way to the nearest elevator. In an attempt to break the silence, Naegi spoke up. "How about I give you a ride to HQ? I can even take you to Pekin-san's manor afterwards. Pekin-san retained the company's services once he got Koto Kid's card."

"You were going to give me a ride anyway. And I can ride with Inspector Samidare to the manor," Kirigiri answered, with a colder tone than usual.

"We can stop by that coffee place you like both ways," Naegi offered.

"Fine. I'm probably going to need it anyway," Kirigiri sighed as she gave in. She never could stay mad at her little lost puppy.

After meeting up with Inspector Samidare, Kirigiri had Naegi drive them to Pekin's manor. Upon their arrival, the three were greeted by Naegi's sister at the front gate.

"Komaru-chan, glad to see you're looking well," Kirigiri greeted as she approached the younger woman.

"Kyoko-nee-chan! Yui-nee-chan! Oops! I mean Detective Kirigiri and Inspector Samidare, good to see you both. I hope Makoto isn't causing any problems," Komaru said.

"Thanks, Komaru," Naegi pouted.

Despite how they act, those two do their best work together. That means Yui-nee and I can focus on Koto Kid, Kirigiri thought as a small smile crept onto her face. She would never admit it, but Naegi looked adorable when he was pouting.

"Shall we go in?" Samidare asked as she walked towards the gate where an elderly man was waiting.

The elderly man, as it turned out, was Pekin's butler. Once he granted the group of four entry, he led them to a room where another man was waiting. He was a large man; tall, but also obese. He was bald, had beady brown eyes, and lips like a sea bass.

"Welcome, esteemed guests! I am Pekin Hideki, CEO of Pekin Pharmaceuticals and, apparently, Koto Kid's latest mark," the man, Pekin, greeted.

Samidare stepped forward and introduced them. "I'm Inspector Samidare with Tokyo Metro. The woman with the purple hair is Detective Kirigiri Kyoko, and these two are…"

"I've had the pleasure of meeting the Naegi siblings previously, though I'm not sure if they remember me," Pekin interrupted. "Makoto, you're looking well. Komaru-chan, you've become such a beautiful young lady."

Kirigiri couldn't help but notice how uncomfortable Komaru looked when Pekin had complimented her. Pekin is certainly no prize, but that's an odd reaction. I suppose that may mean that Komaru-chan remembers him, but what was with that response? Kirigiri thought.

Before Kirigiri could form any theories, Naegi spoke up. "Pekin-san, is it true that Koto Kid is targeting you?"

"I would like to say he is targeting my prized amethyst, but I'll let you read for yourselves," Pekin answered as he passed the group a letter.

Much like Kirigiri's letter, this one wasn't particularly long, but it was without a doubt from Koto Kid. The amicable tone, the promise to be there at midnight, the infuriating confidence, it was all there. The letter read:

Dear Pekin-dono,

As a man who has done so much for so many, I am deeply saddened to hear that you have started taking things that don't belong to you. Frankly, for a man as well off as yourself, I find it extremely unbecoming. I suppose it was inevitable though, much like Icarus, you flew too close to the sun. Perhaps you would consider returning the treasures you have taken on the way down? Or, if you prefer, I will do it in your stead. If it is the second choice, I believe that Augur's Amethyst will be proper compensation for my services. No need to reply to this letter, my good man, I will swing by Saturday at midnight and hear your decision in person.

Yours truly,

Koto Kid

"I honestly cannot say whether this letter is a challenge, an extortion demand, or the ramblings of a madman. I've never stolen anything in my life. There have been rumors about me, of course, but they've all been proven false," Pekin seethed. Clearly, Koto Kid had touched a nerve.

How though? Does he have dirt on Pekin? Koto Kid is a thief, not an extortionist. Perhaps he thinks riling up Pekin will make his heist easier. It's hard to say with that annoying thief, Kirigiri thought.

After Pekin took the letter back, Kirigiri and Samidare began to question Pekin.

"Have you noticed anything strange?"

"How many points of entry are there?"

Will I ever feel clean again?

While neither one asked that question out loud, Kirigiri knew they were both thinking it. Pekin had been leering at them the whole time they were asking questions. Kirigiri swore she saw Pekin drooling a bit as well.

Komaru-chan's reaction makes much more sense now. Perverted clients are the worst, Kirigiri thought with a shudder. Kirigiri wanted nothing more than to forget the case and spend the rest of the day showering, but she couldn't allow Koto Kid to win without a fight. With any luck, she wouldn't need to interact with Pekin that much.

Once the questioning was over, Kirigiri and the others were shown around the mansion. As they went room by room, they soon came across a heavy-looking, and more importantly, locked, door. It was solid steel with an electric keypad lock, and while Kirigiri couldn't be sure how thick it was, it was enough that it looked out of place in among the otherwise normal home.

"What's behind this door?" Kirigiri asked.

"I frequently bring financial and research documents home with me and store them in that room. Forgive me, but I would prefer we skip this room," Pekin answered.

"Most people use a locked file cabinet," Samidare pointed out.

"I take my security very seriously, as I'm sure Makoto-kun and Komaru-chan can attest. I've been using their family's service for years," Pekin countered.

"It's true. That lock is definitely one of ours. A few years old, but it will do its job," Komaru confirmed as she took a closer look at the keypad.

Kirigiri didn't want to leave any stone unturned, but without Pekin's permission there wasn't much she could do. As she prepared to argue, Naegi said, "I understand how you feel, Chief, but I think we can let this one slide. Koto Kid isn't after documents, he's after a bigger prize."

After mulling it over a bit more, Kirigiri finally said, "You're probably right, Naegi-kun. He's a thief, not a corporate spy." Turning to Pekin, Kirigiri then said, "Pekin-san, please kindly show us the rest of your manor."

Once the tour was over, Kirigiri and Samidare went to give each room a thorough investigation. Their goal was to find any and all potential entryways and hiding spots that Koto Kid could use.

Master of disguise or not, he needs to get in somehow. He'll get caught right away if he comes through the main entrance without an invitation. Unless he has someone on the inside. Hopefully, Naegi-kun can get something useful out of the staff. People have trouble keeping secrets when talking to him, Kirigiri thought.

After they were satisfied with their search, Samidare turned to Kirigiri and said, "Kyoko-chan, I'm going to check in with Komaru-chan. She should have noticed if the security system has any blind spots Koto Kid can exploit or if it has been tampered with by now."

"Of course, Yui-nee-chan. I will see if Naegi-kun has heard anything from the staff," Kirigiri told Samidare as the inspector and the detective split up, each searching for a Naegi.

"He should be easy to find. Just follow the applause," Samidare called after Kirigiri.

Kirigiri knew Samidare was just joking, but she couldn't help but think of Naegi's bad habits during investigations. While he easily endeared himself to almost anyone right away, Naegi's kind and charitable nature often sidetracked him if the people he was talking to were even the slightest bit upset or nervous.

I hope he didn't get carried away today. It's entertaining, sure, but we aren't here to put on a…

"…nothing up my sleeve…Presto!" a familiar voice said.

magic show, Kirigiri finished as she saw Naegi hand a colorful bouquet to a young maid. "Showing off again, Naegi-kun?" Kirigiri asked with obvious annoyance at Naegi's…unprofessionalism, that was it. She wasn't at all jealous that he was paying attention to another woman, not at all.

"Sorry Chief. I started questioning the new hires and this young lady started crying," Naegi said, sheepishly.

"When Naegi-san began asking questions, I thought I was in some kind of trouble. I only started a few weeks ago, but I swear I have been on my best behavior," the young maid said.

"I have no doubt of that, Miss. I was simply curious if anything strange has been happening lately," Naegi explained.

"Well, according to the rest of the staff, around the time I started, our food bills started to increase. Some of the maids who started before me have been making fun of me, but I swear I don't eat that much!" the maid shouted.

"We believe you. If I may, what do you think is causing the increase?" Naegi asked.

"I see the cooks taking large amounts of food into Pekin-sama's private study, the room with the heavy door. At least I think they're the cooks, they wear the uniform, but I never see them when they aren't delivering meals. Though to be fair, I am still learning names and faces," the maid answered thoughtfully.

"I see. And why do you think they take so much food to that room?"

"Well…I shouldn't say this, but Pekin-sama is rather, well, fat," the maid whispered fearfully as she looked around, as if to ensure she would not get caught insulting Pekin.

Naegi chuckled at that and said, "That's not wrong."

"I'm not sure if Pekin-san's alleged eating habits help us catch Koto Kid, Naegi-kun," Kirigiri told Naegi.

"All information is valuable, Chief. That was one of the first lessons you taught me," Naegi replied.

Kirigiri's response was to pinch Naegi's cheek. Hard. "Don't get cocky, Cheeky Naegi. I haven't forgotten, but relevance is important too and unless the Augur's Amethyst is behind that door, we're done here."

"Ow! Ow! Ow! I get it, Chief. Now please let me go," Naegi begged.

Kirigiri did so, but then grabbed Naegi's wrist before pulling him away from the maid. As the two left, Kirigiri said, "Thank you for your cooperation, Miss. I hope my assistant didn't waste too much of your time."

"Not at all," the maid, confused by the display, said as she waved.

Once the manor had been searched and the staff questioned, Naegi and Kirigiri returned to Naegi's car. Knowing that his Chief was still mad about his impromptu magic show, Naegi had spent the walk back defending himself.

"It wasn't a bad lead, but you two pointing out the obvious detail that Pekin-san is fat didn't further the investigation. It also risks us getting kicked out of the manor, giving Koto Kid free reign," Kirigiri admonished as she sat in Naegi's passenger seat.

"Oh, I don't think Pekin would ban you from his property, Chief," Naegi mumbled as he drove them back to Kirigiri's office.

"Why is that?" Kirigiri asked.

"You saw the way he looked at the three of you. I know my sister and Samidare did," Naegi pointed out.

"I wish I hadn't, but yes. I can put up with it for one night if it helps to catch Koto Kid. What I'm more interested in though was the notice Pekin-san received," Kirigiri told her partner. What is Koto Kid getting at with that notice? I know Pekin was keeping secrets, but I believe Koto Kid was suggesting something serious, Kirigiri thought. Turning to her partner, she asked, "Naegi-kun, you're something of a magician, correct?"

"It was a good way to make extra money in university without bothering my parents, yes," Naegi answered.

"What did you make of the notice Pekin-san received?"

"A magician's job is to deceive. Normally, we try to ensure the audience enjoys the deception. Having said that, although he was being far less direct in his notice than usual, I do not believe Koto Kid is deceiving anyone as far as his notices are concerned. He seems to take his role as a gentleman thief as seriously as his job as a magician," Naegi explained.

"Perhaps we're wrong then. In my notice he mentions the Augur's Amethyst, but not that he intends to steal it. He makes no mention of it at all in the notice he sent Pekin," Kirigiri said, more to herself than to Naegi.

"I'm sure it will all make sense. Anyway, we should prepare for the party on Saturday," Naegi told her as they drove on.

Saturday came and Kirigiri was no closer to figuring out what she was missing. As a detective, her job was to cut through any and all deception and if frustrated her that she couldn't this time. I just don't know enough. I should have insisted that we see inside that locked room, Kirigiri lamented.

"Kyoko-chan, you need to focus," Samidare said, pulling Kirigiri from her thoughts.

"Yeah, Kyoko-nee. You're our secret weapon against Kid," Komaru added.

"Focus on the road, Komaru-chan," was Kirigiri's reply. The three women were driving to Pekin's manor to attend his party. Naegi had left earlier, saying he wanted to see if anyone suspicious would try to get in when the bulk of the guests arrived. He had asked Komaru to take Kirigiri and Samidare in his place, a request that his sister was happy to accept.

With an exaggerated sigh, Samidare said, "I can't believe that Naegi-kun went on ahead and missed out on showing up with three beauties like us."

"If Onii-chan was here, he wouldn't be able to focus on the road with you two in those dresses. Draped, split thigh, and backless, I hope you two aren't too busy turning people away to catch Koto Kid," Komaru pointed out.

"Koto Kid might have someone on the inside. I find that distracting people with revealing clothes helps get information," Kirigiri said clinically, although her cheeks sported a light blush.

"Is that why you were pouting when you found out Naegi-kun wasn't the one driving us?" Samidare teased.

Kirigiri's blush deepened as she glared at her older sister figure in response.

When the three women entered Pekin's manor, just as Komaru had predicted, many eyes were immediately drawn to them, although Kirigiri managed to keep some of the more daring guests away with a particularly icy glare.

"I knew she wore that for your brother," Samidare whispered to Komaru, earning herself another glare from Kirigiri.

Deciding she didn't want to agitate Kirigiri further, Komaru said, "Once we greet Pekin-san, I think I'll go see if I can find Makoto-onii-chan and maybe grab us some drinks."

"I'll need to check on everyone stationed outside. Koto Kid might not be here yet," Samidare said.

"And I'll keep an eye out for suspicious activity in here," Kirigiri said as the three made their way over to Pekin.

"So happy you three could make it! I dare say the three of you possess beauty far beyond my meager gemstone. I can hardly blame Koto Kid if his heists guarantee that such beautiful women will pursue him," Pekin joked in greeting.

"Thank you for the compliment, Pekin-san," replied Samidare as she tried to cover herself to stop Pekin's poorly disguised staring.

"Pekin-san, have you seen my brother? He said he wanted to get here early in case anyone suspicious tried to sneak in," Komaru told Pekin.

"Ah yes, Makoto-kun has been hard at work since he arrived. Speak of the devil, there he is over there," Pekin said as he pointed at a pedestal and display case that contained the Augur's Amethyst. Sure enough, Naegi Makoto was there, chatting with one of the staff. "Makoto-kun has been here every day to ensure the security system is in perfect condition and that no suspicious characters are attempting to case my manor," Pekin told the three women.

"I give him a hard time, but he certainly earns his place as my assistant," Kirigiri admitted looking fondly in Naegi's direction. Her smile soon turned to a frown as she saw Samidare elbow Komaru while wearing a grin that screamed, "I told you so!"

"Of course, while I respect the work the Naegis have done, I wouldn't have called the police or requested Detective Kirigiri's assistance if I thought a security system alone could capture Koto Kid. However, we still have some time before our…let's call him our "guest of honor," arrives and I like to consider myself a good host. Permit me to grab you three lovely ladies a drink," Pekin said jovially, as he led them to a nearby table filled with glasses of champagne.

"We really shouldn't, we are working," Samidare said.

"I know, but surely one glass wouldn't hurt," Pekin countered as he handed a glass to each of them.

Although Kirigiri agreed with Samidare, she did agree with Pekin that one glass wouldn't have any impact on her abilities and so, began to sip the champagne. "I'm not much of a drinker but I must admit, I like this," Kirigiri said.

"Happy to hear it, Kirigiri-san. Now, if you ladies will excuse me, I must help finish with preparations," Pekin told the trio.

"Preparations?" Komaru asked as she swirled her glass.

"Yes. I am sure you three as well as all those in attendance tonight have asked why we call my jewel the Augur's Amethyst," Pekin began. Seeing the three nod he continued, "This jewel is special. This jewel has been known to show visions. While I cannot promise that what we will see tonight will come to pass, I assure you that it is a life changing experience. Now, as much as I enjoy the company of beautiful women, I must take my leave of you. Please excuse me."

Once they were sure Pekin was out of earshot, Samidare asked, "What do you make of that story, Kyoko-chan?"

"I've heard stories of cursed gems, so I suppose a story about one that can show the future isn't that strange. It's still superstition, of course," Kirigiri responded.

"I think Pekin-san might be sampling his own products to come up with that story," Komaru chimed in.

"You're not too far off, young lady," a male voice said as the three were relieved of their champagne glasses.

"Do you know something we don't, Waiter-san?" Samidare asked.

"Quite a bit in this case, Samidare-chan," the waiter said returning her glass. "You'll want to run some tests on that. I wish you hadn't consumed any of this, Kirigiri-chan. I advise leaving before the show begins. Although, with so little, you might be alright."

"What are you trying to say, Koto Kid-san?" Kirigiri asked.

"A magician never reveals his secrets. I'll gladly reveal Pekin-san's when the time is right though. I simply ask you to be patient," the now identified Koto Kid said.

"Or you can explain everything down at the station and save us all some time," Samidare said as she handcuffed the waiter. "You should have kept your mouth shut. With that mask and without your hat and cape, I never would have known it was you if you hadn't tried to show off how smart you are," Samidare lectured.

"I prefer to think of it as helping old friends," the disguised Koto Kid said as he walked away, shocking the trio of women.

"How did he…?" Samidare said as she looked at what she was cuffed to. "The table leg? Dammit, I hate magic," Samidare grumbled as she searched for the keys to the handcuffs.

"I'll head after him, we can examine this later," Kirigiri said as put down her glass and rushed after Koto Kid. He said that to mess with me, there was nothing wrong with that glass or alcohol, right? Kirigiri wondered, cursing her lack of knowledge of alcoholic beverages.

"You okay, Chief?" Kirigiri heard Naegi's voice ask. Kirigiri turned to see Naegi exit a room.

"Where have you been?" Kirigiri asked.

"Bathroom. I wanted to clean myself up after some of the messier hors d'oeuvres stuck to my fingers," Naegi explained, holding up his still slightly moist hand.

"So, you didn't see Koto Kid?" Kirigiri asked.

"No, but I will help you look," Naegi said as he ran past her down the hall.

Once the two were satisfied that they had searched anywhere Koto Kid could be hiding, Kirigiri returned to Samidare and Komaru. "Naegi-kun and I couldn't find him. He must have gone outside. Yui-nee, did you get any word from your officers?" Kirigiri asked.

"No, they haven't seen anything. Kid probably disguised himself as a guest and came back in here," Samidare answered.

Komaru, who had been looking around after Kirigiri gave her report, asked, "Kyoko-nee-chan, where did my brother go?"

"Your brother told me he was going to the kitchen to see if the chefs would share their recipe for phyllo cups," Kirigiri answered with a shrug before trying one of the phyllo cups in question. "Hmm, I guess I can see why he'd want it," she said between bites.

"Now? But it's almost midnight. Kid will be back for the Augur's Amethyst soon," Samidare reminded her friends.

"That is something Onii-chan would do, though. For a guy who goes on about how average he is, he can be kind of weird sometimes," Komaru said.

Before Kirigiri could defend Naegi, Pekin began to speak. "Ladies and gentlemen, I hope you are all enjoying yourselves tonight. Before our "honored guest" shows himself, I would like to ask you to indulge me while I put on a show of my own. Perhaps you have heard the story behind my precious treasure, The Augur's Amethyst? I have never experienced any visions, but perhaps some of you will have better luck. It was said that light passing through this gem would show the future, let us now see if it is true!" Pekin announced as the lights in the room dimmed and a light came from the display in the room's center.

The guests gasped as they saw something, and it was certainly a hint at a possible future. Light shined through the Amethyst covering the room in a purple glow. Along with that purple glow, was a projection of a crude doodle of a man in a top hat giving a cheeky, toothy smile and sticking his tongue out.

"Shut the display off and get the lights back on!" Pekin barked at his staff.

Before the staff could carry out that order, however, a voice that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere announced, "Ladies and gentlemen! Tonight, you will see magical feats that will make your night shine!" With those words, the lights in the display went out and after a slight delay, the room's lights came back on and what the guests saw caused an even stir. On the display's glass case was a collage of the missing women and sitting on top of the case was a man in a white suit with a matching cape and top hat. In one hand he held a monocle that he set before his right eye and in the other was The Augur's Amethyst.

"Much like our esteemed host, I too hope you are all enjoying your evening," the man, Koto Kid said to the crowd.

Samidare, who had contacted the police outside once the doodles had been projected, yelled into her phone, "He's inside the grand foyer with us! Follow the plan. Those of you coming in, move in! The rest, guard the exits! Don't let anyone escape!"

"You might want to hold off on that order Inspector-chan. For tonight, I, Koto Kid, intend to make people reappear," Koto Kid announced.

"Oh, I'm sure," Kirigiri remarked sarcastically.

"It's true, my lovely lavender detective. I will be shattering the illusions cast by someone else tonight," Koto Kid said as he threw The Augur's Amethyst at the nearest wall. What happened next shocked not just the civilian guests, but the three ladies of law enforcement as well. The Augur's Amethyst shattered on impact with the wall. It was a fake.

Koto Kid turned to Pekin and said, "Pekin-san, my fake was sturdier than that, I assure you. However, I didn't come to compare fake gemstones. If this was your worst crime, I wouldn't even be here tonight."

A visibly nervous Pekin stammered, "T-this man is insane. I have done nothing to be ashamed of. I've certainly committed no crime."

"You better have some damn good proof, Koto Kid. You'll still be under arrest, but Pekin-san won't be suing you for defamation," Komaru joked.

"The proof is in my next trick. I will disappear and the missing people will reappear. So, I must bid you all farewell! "See you next illusion!" Koto Kid exclaimed as he disappeared in a puff of smoke.

The officers finally entered the manor only to have Samidare scream, "Find him! Don't let him get away!"

"Yui-nee, over there!" Komaru shouted as she pointed to what looked like Koto Kid's cape disappear around a corner.

"Follow that cape!" one of the officers yelled to the rest as they began to give chase. Komaru and Samidare began to follow, only to stop when they saw Kirigiri wasn't joining them.

"Kyoko-chan, what's wrong? This is our chance to catch Koto Kid!" Samidare reminded her.

"Your face is red and you're breathing kind of hard, Kyoko-nee. Are you okay?" Komaru asked.

"Huh? I'm fine, I don't know what happened," Kirigiri answered. What's wrong with me? Why is it getting so hard to think clearly. I barely touched that drink before Koto Kid took it off of me, Kirigiri wondered as she joined her friends.

"W-wait!" A nervous Pekin called before reluctantly following them.

As Koto Kid's pursuers searched the manor, they eventually came to Pekin's private study only to find the heavy door opened and with Koto Kid disappearing into the room.

"You saw it, boys! Koto Kid is in there!" Samidare shouted as she pointed towards the open doorway.

"Stop! You can't go down there!" an out of breath Pekin said as he caught up to the group.

"They can, Pekin-san. Japan's Supreme Court approves as long as it is sufficiently 'necessary, urgent, and proper', and I would say catching a criminal in the act is all of those things," Komaru told Pekin, who quietly groaned in response.

Once the group was inside, it was apparent that rather than a room, the door was concealing a rather long hallway that led into Pekin's basement. Having been involved in investigating some of the most heinous crimes, the police, Samidare, and Kirigiri were used to various types of situations. Even Komaru, who would tag along when she could, had seen her fair share of sights, both tragic and gruesome. Even with all of that, the group still wasn't fully prepared for what they saw at the bottom of the stairs.

They had hoped to see Koto Kid trapped. They were prepared to see him escaping. What they hadn't expected was to find that Pekin Hideki, pharmaceutical pioneer, had sex dungeon where he was holding the missing women in cells. The women had clearly seen better days, but they were alive. In the corner there were several men tied up all wearing what appeared to be chef outfits.

"I told you, Pekin-san," Koto Kid's said from behind the group, "I told you I would return your stolen treasures. Their loved ones have been missing them terribly."

Kirigiri, who for some reason was having a rough time thinking, still managed to ask, "How did he hide all of this?"

"That so-called 'Augur's Amethyst' was a tool for hypnosis. Pekin-san's father was a famous hypnotist, so of course he showed dear Hideki a few tricks. He's probably spinning in his grave knowing his son used it for this. Pekin-san first created a drug to make people more susceptible to his suggestions. That's why these women went missing, and why their dates couldn't tell they police anything. It's all in his notes here: the formula, they method, the yakuza owned brothels he was trafficking women to. That's who those men are, they're his yakuza connections. And at the end are his plans for you three ladies this evening. You three were the prize he was after tonight," Koto Kid explained before a gunshot cut him off.

"Yes. Yes, you've caught me. And that's fine! I'll kill you! I'll kill these cops! These three will be mine and I'll make everyone else forget what happened tonight! I'll have it all! Money! Women! Power! Influ-ah!" Pekin screamed as something cut his hand and caused him to drop his gun. A bladed playing card thrown by Koto Kid.

"No one likes a sore loser, Pekin-san and you're in enough trouble as it is. Until next time everyone. See you next illusion!" Koto Kid said with his usual flair before vanishing in a puff of smoke, this time leaving no trace for his pursuers to follow.

The police and Samidare were willing to let him go this time, there were more serious matters to attend to. Several arrests and calls for ambulances that needed to be made; guests that needed to be sent home; and staff that would need to be brought in for questioning.

"I hate owing that smug asshole anything, but I am happy to close these missing persons cases. I wish the truth hadn't been so disgusting, though," Samidare told Kirigiri and Komaru.

"Speaking of missing, where is my Onii-chan?" Komaru asked looking around.

"Didn't he go to the kitchen? The kitchen that had yakuza as staff…Shit, we need to check on him," Samidare said.

"I'm fine. I couldn't find any of the cooks, but from what I heard from the guests, that's probably not a bad thing," Naegi said as he appeared next to the three young women.

"T-that's good. I'm glad I don't need to find a new assistant," Kirigiri said through heavy breaths.

"Chief, are you okay? Your face is all red. Should I take you to the hospital?" Naegi asked.

"I-I'm fine. It's late, I'd like to just go home," Kirigiri said.

"I'll take her, you two. You both should probably head home too," Naegi said as he led Kirigiri to his car.

The two bid Kirigiri and Naegi good night, but Kirigiri couldn't hear it. She was feeling hotter as time went on, especially her lower body. What is wrong with me? Was it the drink? Was it the food? What do I do about it? Kirigiri thought as she looked at Naegi. Seeing he appeared to be focused on the road, Kirigiri made a decision. I can't believe I'm about to do this! Masturbating in Naegi-kun's car when he's right next to me. I can't help it though! There was something in that food. It's just a little bit until I can get home…Oh! That's exactly what I needed, Kirigiri thought as she began to play with herself as quietly as possible. While one hand was busy, Kirigiri used the other to cover her mouth in an attempt to stifle any potential noise. She kept her eyes on Naegi as much as possible so that she could stop if he looked over, certainly not because of how good he looked in a suit.

Kirigiri soon found that her plan had done nothing to help her, in fact, it seemed to make things worse. Her body felt hotter, and her head felt foggier than ever. Through the haze she heard Naegi say, "Home, sweet home, Chief. You might want to stop until you get into your apartment."

"Wh-what?" Kirigiri asked, before realizing that at some point she had stopped covering her mouth. The mortification helped to clear some of the mental haze. He knows. I could die from embarrassment right now, Kirigiri thought.

"It was my fault for not being fast enough. Once you took a sip of champagne it was always a race against time," Naegi explained before he went around to the passenger side door and lifted Kirigiri out of her seat. "Pekin put something powerful in those drinks he gave you, Samidare, and Komaru. An extended-release aphrodisiac. I don't think you'll get very far under your own power. We'll get you home and then see if we can't find some way to cool you down," Naegi told her.

Masturbating in the car didn't help her feel better, but not doing it while Naegi carried her was torture for Kirigiri. She cursed Pekin for his disgusting plan while she tried thinking unsexy thoughts but to no avail.

Once inside Kirigiri's apartment, Kirigiri tried to get out of Naegi's arms, but she didn't have the strength. Naegi had been right, whatever Pekin used; it was powerful to have messed her up so badly. Wait, how does Naegi-kun know that? He wasn't there for Koto Kid's explanation. Wait… The mental haze was beginning to affect Kirigiri's vision, she saw the image of Koto Kid impose itself over Naegi and suddenly everything made sense. She had always found it odd that Koto Kid, rather than acting like their enemy, always seemed to look out for her and the others.

"Take responsibility," Kirigiri mumbled as she looked away shyly.

"What was that Chief?" Naegi asked as he placed her on her bed.

"You need to take responsibility, both as my assistant and as Koto Kid," Kirigiri said as she struggled against the mental fog.

"I was going to find something to help you sleep so it would wear off on its own," Naegi said, not even bothering to deny her accusation.

"Nothing like that in here. And I doubt you'll leave me alone to try to find anything at this hour. Please, Naegi-kun, your lovely lavender detective needs you now!" Kirigiri practically begged at the end.

"Are you sure, Chief? Even if I wasn't your assistant, I'm still Koto Ki-mmph!" Naegi was unable to finish that sentence as Kirigiri kissed him hungrily. Naegi recovered from his shock quickly enough and returned the kiss with equal passion. After what seemed to be both an eternity and not enough time, the two broke apart, with Naegi saying, "Last chance to back out, Chief. I'm sure it will wear off on its own."

In response, the normally cool and in control Kirigiri decided to play a little dirty. "Don't you…want me?" she asked in as vulnerable a voice as she could under the circumstances.

"More than you can imagine, but when you're in your right mind, not some drug-induced haze," Naegi replied, furious with Pekin for doing this to the woman Naegi loved.

"I have enough sense for this. I'd never accept anyone else but you, my most trusted partner and my greatest rival," Kirigiri declared as she began to remove her gloves, the meaning of which was not lost on Naegi.

"Chief."

"Kyoko," Kirigiri corrected as she slipped out of her dress. "Call me 'Kyoko,'" Kirigiri ordered.

Naegi was in awe of the sight in front of him. He had known Kirigiri was beautiful, she had been the whole time he had known her. Seeing her like this though, her pale skin shimmering in the moonlight, her lacey lingerie, her purple hair, slightly messy but still looking luxurious, his self-control was pushed to the limit. With a gulp, he said, "If you're fine with me…Kyoko," before he went to remove her bra. He paused for a moment to appreciate the sight of Kirigiri's bare breasts, much to his companion's frustration.

"H-hey, don't just stare," Kirigiri reprimanded.

"Ah, sorry. In that case," Naegi said before assaulting Kirigiri's nipples. It began slowly, simply teasing them with his tongue, before Naegi latched onto one with his mouth and playfully pinched the other.

"Hyaaa!" Kirigiri moaned as Naegi became more forceful in his ministrations. "Na-Makoto, you're being so rough!" Kirigiri wailed, to which Naegi responded by shooting her an apologetic look and easing up slightly. Kirigiri let out a quieter, "Hyaa," before saying, "The way you lick is so naughty."

Naegi removed himself from Kirigiri's breast to say, "Sorry, but…I'm really glad. The look on your face, your moans. I'm the only one who has ever seen this side of you, aren't I?" before he went back to playing with Kirigiri's chest.

Kirigiri gave as offended of a "huff" as she could muster before bashfully saying, "Of course. I told you, you're the only person who I'd ever do this with."

After taking a minute to appreciate how cute Kirigiri was when she was shy, Naegi moved his attention lower. The act of simply brushing his hand against her panties earned another moan from Kirigiri.

"Hyaa!"

"Please excuse me," Naegi apologized as he slipped his fingers behind the thin fabric. "You really are wet. I'll take care of you, I promise," Naegi said as he moved Kirigiri's underwear aside. Naegi stopped once again to admire Kirigiri before saying, "So cute," and giving her clit a playful lick.

That pushed Kirigiri over the edge. Naegi was rewarded for his efforts with a drawn-out moan as Kirigiri climaxed on his face. As she attempted to catch her breath, Kirigiri reprimanded him, "M-makoto, why did you say that? That's cheating." Her orgasm helped, but it was a brief reprieve, whatever Pekin used, it still hadn't run its course and Kirigiri felt her body heat up again quickly. Spreading herself open, Kirigiri begged, "Makoto, please. Let me have it. I want it so badly, Makoto."

Never one to disappoint his Chief, Naegi undressed before lifting Kirigiri into his lap and positioning himself at her entrance. "Are you sure?" Naegi asked.

Not trusting her voice, Kirigiri nodded.

With her permission, Naegi thrust into Kirigiri, who began to quiver at the new sensation. Naegi had wanted to wait for her to adjust but his baser urges soon got the better of him. "Kyoko, I'm going to move now."

"G-go ahead."

Naegi tried to be as gentle as he could. Aphrodisiac or not, this was Kirigiri's first time, but soon his mind began to cloud in a haze born of pleasure, causing him to instinctively speed up.

"Oooooh! Haaa! Aaaaah!" Kirigiri moaned. The aphrodisiac caused her to heat up, but Naegi made her feel like she was on fire. The events leading up to it aside, Kirigiri was glad to be sharing this with Naegi.

Naegi felt himself getting close as he gasped out, "I'm sorry, Kyoko, but I'm gonna cum!"

"Not yet! Aaaah! Hold it for…aaaah! a bit more!" Kirigiri ordered. It was in vain though, as Naegi released inside of her.

Between his panting, Naegi said, "I'm sorry, Kyoko. Let's do it one more time. I promise I'll try harder."

Kirigiri barely registered what Naegi said before he laid her face down on her bed and resumed. She tried to grab a pillow to stifle her moans, only to find that they had both fallen to the floor. "Aaaaahhh! Aaaaaah! Hhhnnnn!"

"Kyoko, you're letting out such cute moans. Please, let me hear more," Naegi begged as he picked up his pace.

Kirigiri, in an attempt to keep some of her pride intact after showing Naegi this side of herself, covered her mouth. Which worked until Naegi decided to play dirty and licked the back of her neck. "Aaaaahhh! Ch-cheater!" she scolded.

Naegi decided then and there to show her just how dirty he could play. She might kill him later, but Kirigiri was just too adorable to him when she was like this. He grabbed one of her ungloved hands and began to kiss and suck on her fingertips.

That pushed Kirigiri over the edge. With one final, "Hyaaaaa!" Kirigiri and Naegi orgasmed together.

As the two lay heaving labored breaths, Naegi said, "More. I want to lick your whole body, Kyoko."

Going against the script she had proposed, Kirigiri pinched Naegi's cheek as hard as she could and said, "No more."

Naegi laid with Kirigiri with one arm wrapped around her stomach and while he used his right hand to rub his sore cheek. He knew he probably went to far, but given that Kirigiri was letting him hold her, he figured she was more embarrassed than angry.

With a tired sigh, Kirigiri said, "I was going to lose my mind if you kept going. I think you got too into your role as a thief if you played that dirty."

"I'm sorry," Naegi said as he gave the back of Kirigiri's neck a quick kiss. "I really did mean it when I said you were cute though. The side of you only I get to see is the cutest," Naegi admitted.

Kirigiri grabbed a pillow, made a frustrated but subdued scream into it, before pulling back and saying, "Earnest boys are scary."

"What?" Naegi asked.

"Nothing," Kirigiri replied, finally looking at Naegi.

Deciding to change the subject, Naegi asked, "Was it difficult to pretend like you didn't know what was going on? Pretending that it wasn't obvious that I was Koto Kid? Having me be the one who solved the case while you almost fell into Pekin's trap?"

Kirigiri blushed and quickly said, "It was a scenario I came up with, after all. I couldn't go spoiling it."

"The pouting Kirigiri-san is adorable, too," Naegi chuckled. His laughter soon turned to cries of pain as Kirigiri pinched his cheek again.

"Cheeky Naegi. Don't get full of yourself. The girls and I will need to discipline you otherwise," Kirigiri warned.

"Yesh, Kirigiri-sa- Ow! Ow! Ow! What did I do that time?" Naegi asked.

"I told you, call me Kyoko," Kirigiri said bashfully.

So cute, Naegi thought as he leaned in to kiss Kirigiri, who after her shock wore off, happily reciprocated.

Oh boy, that took longer than I expected it to. I apologize for that, but a lot has been going on.

I say a lot has been going on, but I still shouldn't have taken five months to get this out. Maybe this is what I get for going into unfamiliar territory. I tried to give it some elements of a detective/phantom thief story, something I've never tried before.

I say that but I realize that there was no real mystery, Makoto was obviously Koto Kid. There's a reason for that. If anyone is familiar with Magical Kaito and the story of Kaito Kid, you'll understand. It's obvious unless you're a character in the story that the main character, Kaito, is Kaito Kid.

I hope everyone enjoyed this. I really wanted it to be good. I realize that this probably reads more like something that belongs in SHSL Guardian Logs, but I really wanted to do a Kyoko smut chapter of this.

I think I'm gonna put this on hold for a bit. At least until I get further along in Everyday Life with Ultimate Girls, but I shall come back to it in the future. Hopefully revamped and with something excellent.

Until then Ultimates of all ages, read and review and stay frosty!
