Chapter 38
The Truth of All Might
That night after a bath and dinner. Freya sat in a tank top and Kaprie yoga pants on the couch with her laptop in her lap. The girls were all sitting in the living area, talking.
"So, we're back to normal classes starting tomorrow, right?" Jiro asked.
"I suppose there's no rest for heroes." Yaoyorozu said.
"Man, I could use a vacation." Sato said.
"I'll not forget this summer the rest of my life." Tokoyami said. Freya couldn't help but smile. Everyone was happily talking about the exams. She felt bad for Todoroki and Bakugo for not passing, but at least they were getting another chance.
"You." Freya looked up to see Bakugo looking at Izuku. "Meet me out front later." Freya wondered what was going on, but she was to tired to deal with it. Bakugo came over to Freya and kissed her check. "Don't worry about what we are doing. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Okay." Freya said. Bakugo left to go to his room. Izuku and Freya share worried looks.
Later that night. Freya's phone started ringing. Freya ran her hand across her desk, trying to find it. Freya grabbed it and answered.
"It's to early to be up." Freya grumbled.
"Get your ass out of bed and meet All Might at Ground Beta. Now" Aizawa said, sounding mad. Freya sat up and rubbed her eyes.
"Father. What's going on?" Freya asked.
"Your boyfriend and Izuku are out fighting each other in Ground Beta." Aizawa said. Freya was out of bed, quickly and grabbing her shoes at his words. "I'm sending you with All Might to stop them since you can help calm Bakugo down. He'll meet you there." Freya grabbed one of Bakugo's hoodies she stole and threw it on.
"I'm on my way." Freya said, hanging up. She ran to her balcony and made a force spear appear and jumped on it. She used it to fly herself towards Ground Beta.
'What the hell are you two doing?' Freya thought. Explosions and yells could be heard on the other side of the wall. All Might was arriving as Freya landed.
"What's going on?" Freya asked.
"I'll explain to all of you so I don't have to repeat myself." All Might said. All Might swipes his badge and they enter Ground Beta. They found them as Bakugo causes an explosion.
"Tell me!" Bakugo yelled. Freya goes to stop them as Bakugo falls to the ground, but All Might grabs her arm.
"Let's see what happens and why this fight started." All Might said. Freya nodded as Izuku goes to help Bakugo stand up. Bakugo slaps his hand away.
"Don't you dare worry about me!" Bakugo said. Izuku looked at Bakugo in horror. Freya watched in sadness, hearing the pain in Bakugo's voice. "Attack me!" Bakugo stood up. "Why won't you fight back?" Bakugo looked at the ground. "Why did I end up having to chase after someone who was always so far behind me? Why did a damn small fry like you get strong and become the number-one hero's sidekick? His favorite? You got so much better, and I destroyed All Might." Freya's eyes widen.
'He's been blaming himself for All Might's retirement? Oh, Katsuki.' Freya thought.
"I admired him so much." Bakugo said. He looked up at Izuku and clutched his chest. "But it's because of me that he ended up losing his power! If I had been stronger... If I hadn't been kidnapped by villains. Then it never would have happened." Bakugo whipes the tears from his face. "All Might knows it was my fault, but hasn't said anything. Everyone has to know, though! I can't get it out of my head. It's like it's constantly playing on loop. Only time it's not is when I'm with Freya. She's the only one that keeps my head on straight without thinking of it." Freya felt tears in her eyes. "So, what the hell am I supposed to do?!"
'He's been carrying this guilt with him this whole time? And it only disappeared around me. I wished he would of said something to me.' Freya thought. Bakugo charges at Izuku who lights up with green lightning. Izuku kicks him and stops Bakugo. Izuku turns and got in a fighting stance, facing Bakugo.
"I refuse to be your punching bag, Kacchan. Let's go." Izuku said. Bakugo blasted to get above Izuku.
"Should we?" Freya asked, looking at All Might.
"Let Young Bakugo cool down and let them fight it out for a bit. He's fighting with emotions right now." All Might said. Bakgo blasts towards Izuku and Izuku dodges an explosion. Bakugo blasted towards him.
'He's not giving Deku time to think. He's moving fast.' Freya thought, putting up a forcefield around her and All Might to protect them from debree. More explosion rang out till Bakugo got behind Izuku. Freya flinched as Bakugo punched Izuku in the stomach. Izuku hits a fence. Izuku moves fast to avoid an explosion as Bakugo charges him. Bakugo grabs Izuku's arm and throws him around and throws him into the street. Bakugo uses the fence to pull himself up.
"I shouldn't be surprised that we both have been getting stronger." Izuku said with a smile.
"What are you smiling about, huh?!" Bakugo yelled. He blasts at Izuku and sent Izuku flying. Izuku landed on his feet. "I thought you weren't gonna be my punching bag!"
"I'm not!" Izuku said, running at Bakugo.
"I bet you've got some kinda plan up your sleeve." Bakugo said. He uses a bright light to stun Izuku and Izuku moves as Bakugo reaches for him. "That's one of the things I hate most about you!" An explosion rings and Izuku goes flying in the air. "I can never tell what you're thinking. No matter how much I beat you up, you keep coming back! It's obvious you've always looked down on me. Even when we were kids." Freya's eyes widen as Izuku gasped and landed on the ground. "You think you're better than me. But if you seriously believe you're gonna surpass me as a hero, even with your new power, you better think again, Deku!" Izuku stood up straight and looked at Bakugo.
"Think about it, Kacchan. If I looked down on you, I wouldn't want anything to do with you anymore. But I'm still here. I noticed things you couldn't all these years, because I had nothing at first. Freya would agree on me with most. She's seen your faults and still stuck with you on your bad days and she still stands at your side. But still. There were things I hated about you, sure. But I could clearly see how amazing you were. You had so much going for you that I didn't have." Izuku seemed to glow and the Green Lightning burst from him and he flew at Bakugo. "All Might was my hero, but you were the one actually in my life."
'He's moving faster then before.' Freya thought as Izuku swung his leg out. Bakugo puts his hands up to block. Bakugo grunts as Izuku's leg collides with his arms.
"That's the reason I kept chasing after you." Izuku said. Bakugo shoved Izuku off of him. Bakugo was breathing hard. He used a huge explosion to go after Izuku, who came right back at him. Izuku and them both hit each other and Bakugo barely avoided a kick. He caused a huge explosion that caused windows to explode. Bakugo goes flying back and he comes up, panting. Izuku barely hits the ground and he goes flying towards Bakugo. Freya's eyes widen at the speed. "Is that all you've got?" Bakugo yells as he gets ready for an attack. Bakugo jumps in the air as Izuku gets above him. Izuku gets ready one of his fists. Izuku punches Bakugo right in the face.
'That's gonna leave a mark.' Freya thought. Bakugo let's out a yell.
"I won't loose to you." Bakugo said, grabbing his shirt and kicking Izuku in the stomach. He flips them in the air. He lifts his hand up and causes an explosion sending them to the ground, slamming Izuku into the ground. Both boys were breathing hard as Bakugo held Izuku to the ground.
"Let's start going over. They are done." All Might said. All Might and Freya headed their way. Izuku coughs and Bakugo pins him more to the ground.
"That's it. We're done here.. I won this fight. You have All Might's power, but even using his stength, even after making it your own, somehow you still managed to lose to me." Bakugo said. Freya looked at All Might, but he gave her a look that he would explain soon. "Why? How could you lose?" Izuku coughs.
"Stop this right now. Both of you. I'm sorry. But I heard what you've said." All Might said. Bakugo jumped off Izuku. Freya ran over to Izuku and helped him up. She checked him over then went up to Bakugo. She grabbed his chin gently. Bakugo wouldn't look her in the eyes.
"Katsuki?" Freya said. He looked at her. "You didn't have to grieve alone. You could have come to me. I would have listened." Bakugo sighed. He pulled her into a tight hug. Freya quickly hugged him back.
"When did you two get here?" Izuku asked.
"Father had me come as back up, but clearly it wasn't needed." Freya said, letting Bakugo go.
"I didn't notice before. I should have." All Might said. Bakugo turned away from All Might.
"It's to late now." Freya looked at Bakugo. "Why did you pick Deku? It started when the sludge villain came, didn't it? So why him?" Freya looked at All Might.
"He was powerless. But still more heroic than anyone else." All Might said. Bakugo's lips were quivering. "I knew you were strong. That much was obvious. You were someone who could already fight. So, I decided that he should have the chance to stand in the ring." Bakugo gritted his teeth.
"But now you know I'm weak, too." Bakugo said.
"Katsuki." Freya said.
"I always wanted to be like you, which meant being as strong as possible. But look what I did to you. Because I'm not good enough." Bakugo said. All Might came up to Bakugo. Freya watched the two.
"This is not your fault, Young Bakugo. I was always going gto lose my power. You couldn't do anything to change that. You are strong. But I focused too much on your physical strength and overlooked what was important." All Might said. All Might pulled Bakugo into a hug. "This isn't your burden. Freya was right. You could have came to her or me about it. We would of listened. I apoligize. Sometimes I forget that you're children." Bakugo pushed All Might off him. Freya came up to Bakugo and put a hand on his shoulder. "After being a hero for so many years, you learn a few things. Striving to be the best, like you, Young Bakugo. And caring deeply about people... about rescuing those in trouble, like you, Young Midoriya." All Might looked at Freya. "By having a kind heart and caring for your loved ones, like you, Young Aizawa." Freya smiled at All Might. All of those feelings are necessary in a hero. Otherwise, they'll never truly be able to represent justice. That's why you admire his strength so much, Young Midoriya. And I know that's why you've always feared his heart and spirit, Young Bakugo. Now that you've laid your feelings out on the table, maybe you can understand each other." Izuku and Bakugo wouldn't look at each other. "If you have mutual respect and focus on making one another stronger, I've no doubt you'll become the ultimate heroes, winning and saving people at the same time. And I'm sure Young Aizawa here will make sure you two don't get to bad." Freya chuckled. Bakugo shrugged Freya's hand off.
"Damnit. That's not what I wanted to hear." Bakugo said. He fell flat on his butt and sat down. Bakugo put his head on his legs. "You." Izuku looked at Bakugo. "You had the strongest guy in the world lay the groundwork for you. Don't you dare lose again." Izuku nodded.
"I'll work harder so that I can beat you." Izuku said. Bakugo sighed. Freya looked at All Might.
"Alright. Now talk. Who knows about you two? Now that I put two and two together that Izuku has your Quirk." Freya said. All Might sighed.
'The girl is smart. Might as well tell them both as well.' All Might said.
"Recovery Girl and Principal Nezu do. As far as students go. Only you and Young Aizawa here." All Might said.
"And you don't want this to get out. Because that would be bad. Don't worry. Your secret's safe with me. I won't tell anyone what's going on." Bakugo said.
"And it's safe with me too." Freya said.
"Unlike Deku, Freya and I can keep our mouths shut. This will stay between us." Bakugo said. Freya nodded.
"Thanks, Kacchan. Freya." Izuku said.
"I don't deserve this. I should be down on my hands and knees begging for you to keep this secret for me. Yet here you both are, being considerate and helping me out. Thank you." All Might said. Bakugo stood up.
"I'm not doing this for you. It would just be a real pain if this got out and messed stuff up." Bakugo said.
"I'm just happy we are learning the truth about Izuku getting a Quirk." Freya said.
"Now that it's come to this, I can explain what happened between me and Young Midoriya. That's only fair." All Might said. Freya came up to Bakugo, who wrapped an arm around her. He pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"I'm sorry for holding this in and not telling you. I'll come to you next time." Bakugo said.
"That's all I would like. Thank you." Freya said, hugging his side. All Might smiled at the two as Izuku got up. All Might started telling them the backstory of the power passed down through generations in order to be used against great evil. About how he used that power to become the Symbol of Peace. How he was gravely injured, which limited his strength. And All Might told how he chose Izuku to become his successor. Freya was impressed when All Might revealed One for All was tied into her mothers side since the first and second user.
"So my family has been helping One for All with all the fights?" Freya asked.
"All for One has been hunting your family and this power for centuries. So yes." All Might said as they headed out of Ground Beta.
"That's awesome." Freya said.
"Your mothers loss hit hard. She was good friends with me. She would of told you when you were older, but guess its up to me to tell you. He really wants you because of your fathers quirk. So, watch your back." All Might said.
"I will." Freya said.
"I'll make sure the Bastard doesn't touch her." Bakugo growled. All Might smiled.
"I know you will, Young Bakugo." All Might said.
"If this got out, People will be confused and they'd start wondering where the power is. You idiot. What were you thinking when you first told me about it?" Bakugo asked. Izuku stayed silent.
"It was my own choice to use up the last of my abilities. I said this earlier, but.. That was no way your fault." All Might said.
"Yeah. Sure. It doesn't change what I have to do." Bakugo said, glaring at All Might.
"True. You're right about that." All Might said. Bakugo glared at Izuku.
"Things aren't gonna be the same, though, Deku. You got that?" Bakugo said. Freya sighed as she walked with Bakugo. "You've been watching me and everyone around you, absorbing what you see to get stronger. Well, I can do the exact same thing and keep getting better myself. I'll go higher than even you. Chosen One."
"Right, then I guess I'll just have to be better than that." Izuku said.
"You what?" Bakugo said.
"I have to go higher than you." Izuku said, clutching his fists. Bakugo grunts as he gets pissed off.
"Damnit, nerd. I just said I was gonna be the one to surpass you!" Bakugo yelled.
'Things have not changed.' Freya thought as the two bickered.
In Aizawa's office. Freya nearly had to dodge her father's capture scarf as they walked in. Aizawa had both Izuku and Bakugo wrapped up in it. Now, Bakugo and Izuku knew why Freya was terrified of her father when he was pissed off.
"You fought the night you finished the Preliminary Hero Licensing Exam? I'm glad to see that you two have so much energy." Aizawa said. Freya stood with her arms crossed, glad it was those two and not her this time. Though its been awhile since her dad had to use the Capture Scarf on her. All Might even looked scared.
"Aizawa, wait, hold up with those restraints. It's my fault that they sparred in the first place.
"Huh?" Aizawa looked at All Might. His eyes were twitching.
"Now I know why your dad scares you at times." Bakugo said.
"Let me enjoy this moment." Freya said, smirking at her boyfriend. Bakugo glared at her.
"Your fault and how is that?" Aizawa said. Izuku, Freya, and Bakugo yelp in worry. All Might goes and whispered something to Aizawa that the three couldn't hear. The restraints released.
"I understand that they felt they had to break the rules. Freya didn't, because I sent her with you, All Might. But this isn't something I can just ignore. There must be a suitable punishment. Freya. You won't be punished." Aizawa said seeing the look of worry on his daughters face. Freya sighed. "Who threw the first punch?"
"I did." Bakugo said.
"I also went pretty hard. It wasn't just him." Izuku said. Aizawa pointed at them.
"You're both on house arrest. Three days for Midoriya and four days for Bakugo. And Bakugo. You are not allowed to do any relationship stuff or date my daughter till after the four days." Aizawa said. Freya's jaw dropped. Bakugo's eyes widen. "No cuddling, holding hands, no kissing, etc."
"But..." Aizawa shot his daughter a look that could kill. She clsoed her mouth.
"During the house arrent, you'll clean all the common areas in the dorm, morning and night. Plus, I want a written apology. If your injuries need to be checked out, head to the infirmary. But don't rely on the old lady's Quirk this time. Figure out a way to heal yourselves." Aizawa said. Bakugo and Izuku looked down as Aizawa sighed. "That's all! Go." Bakugo, Izuku, and All Might left. Aizawa turned and saw his daughter standing there with her arms crossed and a look that reminded him of her mother.
"So I'm not being punished, but I was added to Bakugo's punishment." Freya asked, tapping her fingers on her arm. Aizawa sighed.
"I didn't say you have to. I didn't say you had to tease and torture him during those days to push him." Aizawa said. It took a minute to register what he said. A sly smile came over her face.
"Your giving me permision to tease him during those four days?" Freya said. Aizawa had a feeling he was going to regret this after tonight.
"Yes." Aizawa said. Freya ran over and kissed her father on the check.
"I'll have to have the girls help me and some of the boys, but this will be fun." Freya said with an evil smile. Aizawa knew it was going to be a fun four days for her and a torture for Bakugo. "Night, dad. Love you."
"Night, kid." Aizawa said as Freya ran out. She was already forming a plan in her mind as she ran to the dorms.
