Note: This story takes place sometime during Ultimate Alien.

Gwen was in the zone. Earlier today, she'd been given a report to do, and she was now well on her way to being halfway finished with it, even though it was due in a week's time. She let her fingers guide her as she speedily typed away on her laptop, occasionally switching tabs to check her facts.

Kevin understood why she wanted to finish her report as soon as possible, but he didn't quite like it. He'd hoped they could lounge around and have a lazy day together. It wasn't worth arguing about it with her, though, so he decided to help her out instead. He entered her room with a cup of tea, which he set down on her desk.

"Thanks," she said, her eyes glued to the screen.

He laughed to himself at her lack of eye contact, then pressed a kiss to the crown of her head. "Anytime, baby."

She stopped typing mid-sentence, having abruptly lost focus on her work. After taking her eyes off the screen for the first time in what she assumed was too long, she looked up at him, almost confused. "You've never called me that before."

He leaned against her chair, dangling an arm over her left shoulder. "Haven't I?"

"Nuh-uh. Pretty sure I'd remember it."

Kevin crouched and rested his chin on Gwen's right shoulder. "Well, didja like it?"

"Hmm, I dunno. It's kinda the default when it comes to pet names." With a playful smile, she turned her head slightly towards him. "I think you can do better."

Never one to back down from a challenge, Kevin inched closer, his lips grazing the juncture between her neck and shoulder. She angled her head to grant him better access. With his arms wrapped above her waist, his lips leisurely traveled up her neck, alternating between planting kisses and whispering pet names.

"Lollipop."

"Honey bun."

"Peaches."

It didn't take long for Gwen to melt, thanks to both Kevin's husky voice and how unapologetically sweet he was being. She was practically wrapped around his finger. If only he could be like this all the time.

"Cupcake," he breathed into her ear, sending a chill along her spine.

She let out a soft chuckle. "M-Maybe try one that's not food-related. You're making me hungry."

"Whatever you say, sunshine." He gently took her earlobe between his teeth and tugged lightly. "How 'bout you ditch your work so we can laze around, angel?"

She fought the growing temptation to give in and patted him on the cheek. "Nice try, cutie, but I really wanna get this done." With his arms still around her, she resumed typing.

"You've got a whole week to get it done!" he whined. In an attempt to sway her, he gave her a lingering kiss behind her ear. "C'mon, pleeeease?"

Gwen stopped typing again, debating with herself on what to do. She looked at her bed behind her, then at her laptop. Kevin was unlikely to let up anytime soon, but she didn't want to abandon her work. "Okay, how about a compromise? I'll bring my laptop to bed and you can lie down next to me, if..." She raised a finger. "You promise to keep quiet."

"Ha, knew you couldn't resist me!" He peppered kisses all over her cheek. "Thanks, baby!"

"On second thought, maybe 'baby' isn't so bad after all."

This was definitely on the sillier side of things. It was originally supposed to be a bit longer, but I think trimming it down worked for the better in the end.
