Day: 4

Prompt: Protection

(During their time in the human realm)

It has been a month since Luz and her friends arrived in the human realm. Needless to say, it's been rough on all of them. Luz had been spending every minute she wasn't in school trying to figure out how to get back. Luz still blamed herself for everything that happened and has still yet to tell her friends about her helping Phillip when she used the time pools. Right now, her only focus was getting them home and saving everyone on the Boiling Isles. It was taking a toll on Luz mentally, and it didn't go unnoticed by her girlfriend. Amity had been trying to find a way to cheer Luz up, it broke her heart to see her batata like this. Amity was currently sweeping the kitchen for Camila when she saw an ad for a local county fair on the TV. She immediately thought this would be perfect. Amity quickly finished up and went upstairs to Luz's room. When she arrived she saw Luz sitting at her desk with her head on the table.

"Hey Luz," Amity said in a gentle tone as she walked in.

Luz hearing her name being called, lifted her head and turned to see Amity, and formed a small smile "Hey, Hermosa."

Seeing Luz smile filled Amity's heart with joy, "What are you doing?"

"Just thinking about everything… everything to make a portal or find a way back to the Isles."

Amity pulled up a chair and sat next to Luz, "I saw that there is a fair in town and I thought the two of us could go together, it would be a good way to cheer you up."

Luz perked up at the idea, Normally Luz would just say she was ok but she knew she wasn't fooling anyone, especially Amity. "Yeah, sure! We can have that awesome slice-of-life date I promised you," Luz got up and hugged her, "I'll go ask Mom if she could take us."

Luz took Amity's hand and enthusiastically ran downstairs. See Luz excited about something mad Amity's heart flutter. Luz had been so down since they came to the human realm. Seeing the side of Luz again made Amity very happy

"Hey, Mom!" Luz said to Camila who was currently watching some lame romcom.

"Yes, Mija?"

"Me and Amity want to go to the fair that's in town, would you take us please?"

Camila got up from her seat and placed a hand on both of those shoulders. Like Amity she was also happy to see this side of Luz again. "Of course, I can!"

The three of them got in the car and headed to the fair. Luz and Amity sat in the back together. Amity was laying her head on Luz's shoulder and Luz with her head on Amity's. Camila would look at the two through the rear view mirror and the sight of them melted her heart. Luz never had any friends in the human world so the fact Luz not only made good friends but also found a girlfriend in the Boiling Isles made her so happy. It was only around a 20-minute drive to the fair so they arrived very shortly.

The girls got out of the car and Luz went to the driver's window, "Thanks, Mama!"

Camila smiled at the young couple, "You two have fun! Stay out of trouble, and call me when you're ready to leave."

Camila left shortly after that and left the couple for their little date. Luz and Amity made it a goal to ride every ride and play every game at the fair. They wanted to make this a memorable first human realm date. The hours went by and Luz and Amity achieved their goal. They rode all the rides and played the games, Luz even won Amity a stuffed panda bear. They ended the night on the Ferris wheel. Amity loved it, when it got to the top she would be enamored with the view. When she turned to face Luz she would be kissed on the lips by Luz in what felt like the most romantic moment of her life. After the ride ended Luz called her mom and made their way to the parking lot. However, on their way, Luz heard a familiar yet comforting voice.

"Heeeeeeey Luz!" Luz and Amity turned to see an old classmate of Luz's with 2 other girls. These girls as a group known as the triple A's (lame I know) Ashley, Amy, and Amber who was the one currently talking to Luz

"Ugh, hi Amber," Luz replied in a flat voice.

Amy started speaking, "We heard you went away for a while, why is that?"

Luz gave the three girls an annoyed look before speaking, "I was at camp."

The third girl Ashley responded, "Aww you poor thing, you couldn't make friends here so you had to have someone back with you so you would have one." she mocked pointing at Amity.

"Listen, cutie," Amber chimed back in, "You're new here so I'll give you some advice, avoid this weirdo like a virus."

"Leave her out of this!" Luz barked at Amber.

Amber looked stunned at Luz clapping back, "Or what loser?" She said as she shoved Luz hard enough to cause her to stumble but not fall over.

Luz said nothing and just gave her a look.

"Oh look, now she's got nothing to say," Amy said.

Ashley went up to Amber's ear, "Do it again."

Amber did as her friend requested and pushed Luz again with the same results. When Amber went for a third one Amity grabbed her wrist stopping her.

"Leave Luz alone…"

"Oh? She can talk." Amber said, "Fine, then you'll get it instead."

Amber then shoved Amity but unlike Luz, Amity hit the ground.

Amy responded with a laugh "All bark and no bite."

As the three girls were laughing, in an uncharacteristic move Luz grabbed Amber by the shoulder and punched her right in the mouth. The punch sent her to the ground, making all the girls speechless.

"You ok, Hermosa?" Luz said, helping Amity up.

Amity dusts her dress off, "Yeah, I'm okay batata."

Amber had just gotten off the ground with the help of her friends. She was holding her mouth while looking at Luz, "Did…..did you just hit me!?"

Luz looked at Amber with fire in her eyes and pointed dead in her eyes, "You can say and do whatever you want to me, but don't you dare put your hands on my girlfriend ever again!"

That last part shocked the three bullies, "Your girlfriend!?" Ashley yelled.

"Yeah. I'm bisexual, and Amity is the one true love of my life that I want to spend the rest of my life with, and if you or ANYONE ELSE HARMS MY HERMOSA, YOU WILL GET IT!!!" Luz yells back at Ashley and her friends, giving them a shocked and frightened expression at how Luz snapping back at them.

Luz grabbed Amity's hand and walked away from them. Afterward, they shortly arrived at the parking lot and sat on a bench waiting for her mom.

Luz turned to her sweet potato, "I'm sorry you had to say see that Amity."

Amity kissed Luz on the cheek, "It's ok Luz, I wanted to do that myself, but I didn't want to expose my magic. Those girls were being awful to you."

Luz holds Amity's "Normally I just take it or ignore it but when she puts her hands on you I lose it, No one hurts my Hermosa."

Amity looked at Luz and gave her a passionate kiss on her lips. "I'd do the same for you Batata."
