A former Shade Pirate named Masked Deuce who now works for the World Economic News, remembered a scary experience that happened a few years ago.
He remember passing near the editing room, which is where the editing team were doing some editing for animated cartoons made by the World Government Animation Department, which produce propaganda animated cartoons to make people support the World Government.
While walking an employee stumbled out of the room, looking pale. Which caught his attention along with a woman named Stussy who is an informant (and secretly an agent of CP0), who was also passing by. He repeatedly said "Real suffering is not known" seven times.
Deuse and Stussy ask the man if he's all right, and also try to calm him down.
Then all of a sudden the man grabbed the Deuce's he took flintlock, that Deuce had on the side of his waist, and shot himself.
After that's scary appearance, Deuce and the Stussy investigate the room that the man stumbled off.
They found the rest of the editing team some were vomiting on the floor, some were gasping, and others were choking back on vomiting. They found a piece of paper with writings saying "The sights of hell bring its viewers back in.".
They both look at the animated footage that the editing team we're watching.
The animation is an episode of Monkey Ball, which started out as a popular comic strip.
The animated footage begins with the main character, who is a anthropomorphic monkey walking, with a morose expression, however with no soundtrack. But soon things begin to change. Sound starts to play in the background, it begins with a rhythmic tapping, then a sound that's seems to be a murmur, and then a gurgled cry.
As the volume and intensity of the murmur increases gradually, the background begins to shift in surreal and irrational ways, bending and twisting into a nightmare landscape and then the character expression begins to morph into an obscene sneer. A few minutes later, the 'gurgled cry' turns into an anguished scream. And the Main Character's face continue to warp into a rictus of horror, his eyes and mouth enlarging, while buildings around him began to crumble and burn.
Then a few more minutes later, the Main Character is running frantically, his face twisted into a horrific visage, while the screaming reaches a painful pitch, then the episode ends.
Then the episodes starts playing again, and Stussy put a stop to it.
The World Government began to investigate the animators behind the episode's making, when they track them down they found out that they were assassinated through suicide bombings. They found a message that was taped on the left shoulder on one of the bodies that reads: "The sights of hell bring its viewers back in." Their assassins were Pirates with bombs in their pockets. Each of them approached their intended target, and offered them a handshake, and then they blew themselves up, at different locations on the same island, and blew up at the same time.
To this day, nobody knows why the animators made such an animation.
To Deuce, this was such a terrifying experience that he'll never forget.
