'Incredible, yes, very impressive.' He thought to himself as he dodged a massive wave of pressurized water.

So, this is Kyogre!

"SCREEEEE!" Its roar caused the already terrible thunderstorm to grow worse, and the waves of the ocean, to rise and fall sporadically. Weaker water types couldn't even withstand the current, and he's barely holding on as it is.

With but a thought, he takes control of the surrounding water trapping Kyogre in a whirlpool of his own making then immediately freezes that very same water.

An attack like this would stop most Pokémon, but he knows he's not dealing with just any Pokémon, especially not one with such a strong affinity towards water. his trainer warned him of its power!

This is the strength of a legendary Pokémon.

Immediately he followed up with the strongest hydro pump he could manage, and thanks to being underwater, plus the stormy weather, it was strengthened beyond belief.

"Boom!"

The sound of the explosion was heavily muffled considering their thousands of feet under water, and yet even though he's coming at this beast with the intent to kill, even though he's giving it his all!"

"SCREEEEE!"

He's having no effect. Damn that stung.

Kyogre's gold beady eyes focused on him, and his hackles raised. Focusing his psychic power, he conjured his strongest protect, strengthened by a psychic barrier.

And for the first time since this battle started Kyogre spoke.

"You're weak!"

And the impossible happened. The ocean burned yellow, and all he knew was pain.

Psyduck, commonly known as the duck Pokémon.

Although classified as a water type, Psyduck possesses strong psychic abilities that when concentrated and aimed can achieve a Myriad of affects similar to the capabilities of other psychic Pokémon. However, this is an extremely rare phenomenon that's usually left unpursued by most due to the extreme mental strain put on a Psyduck. Although gifted with psychic abilities Psyduck rarely if ever uses it due to their body and mind unable to handle the strain, shown through their constant headache, and migraines. This is why Pokémon researchers have classified Psyduck as only a water type, instead of a duel typing of water and psychic. This is further proven due to the evidence provided by their evolution, Golduck.

It's not that there evolution provided them with both the physical and mental capacity to finally uses there psychic abilities, but that due to the lack of use as a Psyduck, there psychic abilities atrophied to a much more tolerable level once evolution was achieved, that the now stronger Golduck can properly manage, getting rid of the constant headache that plagued them in their earlier years, and yet even after they evolved they rarely use it, in favor of the more preferable water attribute. Thus, due to their weakened psychic abilities their output as a Golduck isn't nearly as strong as the average psychic, and barely worth mentioning.

It's because of this, that Psyduck aren't commonly used in high tier battles and that while there more attuned to the water attribute, there outputs when trained are only above average, leading to their declined-

"Knock, Knock." Interrupted from his reading, he looked up to the door, there was only one person that would knock on his door at this time of night.

"Come in." He said gently. And needing no further instruction. A red and black blur rushed into the room and immediately jumped on the spot near the bed beside him.

"Charles, Charles, aren't you excited, it's almost time for your journey, you should be sleeping you know, but I guess you're probably super excited as well huh." Resting his hand on the boy's short cut black hair, he tried to calm him down.

"Ethan, Ethan, relax. There's still hours left before my journey; besides I need you to use your inside voice Atlas is sleeping." He said as he referred to the silently snoozing Psyduck next to him. He couldn't help, but smile, the onetime his head isn't plaguing him is when he's asleep, that's good to know. He'll have to add that to his notes.

"Oh, right sorry, haha. So uhm, aren't you excited for your journey."

"Of course, I am, why wouldn't I be." He questioned with a tilt of his head.

"Because you still have the same blank purple eyed stare." He said matter of factly.

"You know, just because I don't express it outwardly doesn't mean I'm not excited, how many times have I told you I'm the picture definition of excitement."

"Oh, really and what about that starter of yours, a Psyduck is so lame, everyone knows they aren't good at battles, I can't believe dad couldn't have gotten you a cooler and more capable Pokémon." Ethan looked at Psyduck with a disappointed frown.

Sighing to himself he looked at the 8-year-old with a small smile " Ethan how many times must I tell you, I'm quite happy with my starter, your dad professor Elm, has already done more than enough for me. I'm eternally grateful for his care and support."

"But why a Psyduck? They're not cool at all, their headaches are just a hindrance, and their water abilities are middling. I don't understand, Dad is a professor, shouldn't he have access to the regional Johto starters."

"Newly instated professor."Charles corrected. "You have to remember that your father is still relatively young, only 29. He'll have to prove his worth as a professor before he can get his hands on the regional starters, though I'm not worried. Professor Elm is a smart man, he'll get there sooner rather than later."

"Yeah, but you need it now, I can't imagine you putting your faith in that." He waved offhandedly in Psyduck's direction." You're the best, it's only natural that you deserve the best." Ethan said with utmost seriousness.

Right, even though it's been years it's still so surreal. To think that Ethan, the literal protagonist of Gold and Silver, looked up to someone like him. In this second life he's 12 while Ethan is 8. They've known each other for about 3 years now. And to this day he still doesn't know why Ethan is so attached, of course he's asked him, but he never says.

"Ethan, do you really think I'm the best?"

His answer was a resolute nod.

"Then believe me when I say that this will be the strongest Pokémon of its species you'll ever witness in this lifetime." His words were resolute, firm, and full of conviction. It wasn't like he was saying a statement but speaking a fact. He meant every word. Even though his start in this world was less than ideal, he'll make sure he rises to the top, all for the sake of his own goal."

"So cool." Ethan said softly, so soft in fact, that he doubted he realized he uttered those words out loud.

"I, I want to be the strongest Pokémon trainer, not to become champion or anything, but because I have to."

"Why do you have to?"

"Because if I don't, I won't be able to face your dad, I owe him too much, not to offer my full support."

At his confession Ethan looked at him skeptically." You know you keep saying that, but I'm pretty sure dad doesn't think you owe him anything. You already do so much for him, for mom, for me, even the people of New Bark Town. Don't you think-

"It's not enough." He gently, yet assuredly Interrupted.

"You see we both know that your dad is still a new professor, and, because of that, his findings are still not taken seriously by the rest of the Pokémon community. He needs to present something so monumental, so groundbreaking, something so left, that they'll have no choice but to believe. Whether it's an invention, a new discovery, or a disproven theory and I want to help with that."

It always amazed Charles how smart this kid is, as it didn't take him too long to pick up the pieces.

"You're saying he has a theory relating to Psyduck."

"Yup, although I'd rather not touch upon it now, just that psyduck has an untold amount of potential, and we as humans are nowhere even close to bringing it out."

At his statement Ethan looked at the snoozing psyduck with skeptical eyes. "That thing has potential."

"Haha, yeah, it's hard to believe. I mean I understand that every Pokémon has its uses, but the professor is talking about something more, he sees the species potential, and so do I. So as his sponsored trainer it's my duty to assist that finding and, bring the professor up."

Once more Ethan looked at psyduck questioningly and watched as a snot bubble emerged from its nostrils. "Are you sure?" He questioned again.

"Haha, that was the watered-down reaction of the public when he announced this, as you can imagine the response was less than ideal."

"The professor just laughed it off, saying something along the lines you win some you lose some."

"Yeah, I don't like that, but dad is an easy-going guy."

"Too easy going, sometimes."

"Still why do you want to start your journey in Kanto, why not here in Johto."

"Because Kanto is the beginning." Charles Said resolutely.

"I still don't get that."

"Haha, you're not supposed to."

With that they talked about lighter subjects, for some time. Things like what does he expect from his journey, what kind of cool Pokémon he should catch, (Ethan said a Dragonite) and how he should have fun. And never forget to call. Pretty soon Ethan fell asleep, and he realized he had a sleeping psyduck to his left, and a sleeping Ethan to his right. 'This, this is nice.' he thought.

This is his Pokémon journey, he knows he should have fun, and he plans to, but at the same time, there's something he has to do, something…

And before he finished his thought, he to fell asleep.

"Pokeballs."

"Checked."

"Notebooks."

"Checked."

"Emergency rations"

"Checked."

"Cash."

"Checked."

'Oh, uhm, umm repels."

"Haha, checked."

"Glasses."

"Strapped to my face."

"Pokémon."

"He's right behind you."

Looking to her left side Lila Elm saw Atlas, holding his head, right beside her. "Oh, dear I apologize, I didn't see you, their Atlas." Gently scooping the psyduck up she gently ran her finger through his stomach causing the psyduck to Quack in delight, before gently resting him down beside him.

"Uhm, are you sure you aren't missing anything Charles dear?" She questioned kindly.

Lila Elm, the wife of Professor Elm and mother of Ethan. A literal angel. He's never met such a kind woman, the type that only exists in fantasies. 'Professor Elm sure is lucky.' He thought.

It is still shocking to know that Ethan isn't fatherless sometimes, but just one of the many changes he's already witnessed.

"Thanks Mrs. Elm, but I'm fine. I've already checked everything over, and said my goodbyes to everybody in town, besides it's not like I won't see them later."

"Yeah, but I still don't understand why you chose to start in Kanto."

"Because it's the beginning." He said resolutely.

"Still don't get what that means." Ethan said as he came downstairs stretching with a yawn.

"Quack, quack." Looking down, it seems Atlas is trying to grab his attention, and with a quick thought he immediately knows what he wants.

Picking him up, he gently ran his finger through his feathers, and watched as he let out a content Quack. His favorite spot he realized is to be rubbed on his head, no doubt it helps with his headaches.

Usually, trainers go out and start their journeys as soon as they get their starter, but that was just stupid to him. Which is why he's starting a year late.

That's right, it has already been a year since he received his starter. He needed Atlas to gain complete trust in him, you should have seen how… cold wasn't the word, indifferent is more like it. Simply going along with the motions of things.

That type of attitude was unacceptable.

Atlas is his first Pokémon, in other words his Ace.

People may think it's fine so long as they listen to you, but so many things can go wrong with an uncaring Pokémon by your side, not only that but it merely brushed him off with a disbelieving look when I told him my plans for the future.

If they're going to succeed, then they need to have absolute faith, so while sad it wasn't unexpected. He's not an anime protagonist, he has his own way of doing things.

Besides, it's not like he's been staying here in this town with psyduck twiddling their thumbs, sipping tea, and talking about the weather. One mustn't forget they have a Pokémon professor here and with it plenty of strong Pokémon to constantly battle with. Of course, they got their asses handed to them, but that was to be expected.

And in a few months Atlas learned to put his trust in Charles, while he learned to trust him as well, he had to. And it's because of that trust, that Atlas wears a familiar stone pendant around its neck.

An Everstone.

The thing is, it is quite insane how fast Pokémon mature when put through strenuous training, and constant battling.

It's why he begrudgingly admitted that Ash was able to contend with Pokémon that's been training for years, with Pokémon he's known, for at most, months. Or maybe that's the plot, perhaps both.

You see, Professor Elm isn't Samuel Oak. He wasn't some guy that was a champion, but decided to be a professor again, if anything from what he saw in this world his Pokémon's levels are only about above average, otherwise known as low conference level. But above average is way better than rock bottom, thus my Atlas got his ass kicked, numerous times.

And he started showing signs of evolution.

Atlas was ready to evolve, around 5 and a half months ago, but that's not what he needed, he knew that if Atlas chose to evolve right then and there, he would be no different from any other scrub Golduck trained or wild. This isn't like the games where everything is dictated by one's stats and a set. This is real life that needs logic, dedication, time, and not to mention imagination, but once you can grasp that.

Pokémon can do anything.

It was our first fight ever.

Haha, we sounded like a squabbling couple. Atlas didn't like it, and most people thought my choice was strange, but I didn't care. I'm gazing ahead in the far future, nothing more, nothing less.

It was trust that allowed Atlas to wear that Everstone, there bond is strong, uh so corny thank God he didn't say that aloud.

"Hmm, it's amazing how a simple stone can stop this guy from evolving." Ethan commented as he peered at Atlas in my arms.

"We'll all Pokémon are capable of halting their evolution with their will if they desire, and although I trust Atlas fully, I'm taking extra precautions."

"Still though, is there really any merit to halting his evolution?" Mrs. Lila questioned with a tilt of their head.

"Haha, don't worry, there is a method to my madness."

"You hear that Atlas Charles is putting his faith in you, so don't let it go to waste." Ethan said as he stared at the duck. Atlas' response to that was pecking his forehead. This caused Ethan to take Atlas from his arms and throttle him, and just like last time, Atlas pecked him even more aggressively. Causing Ethan to hold his aching forehead.

"Say where's the professor, don't tell he pulled another all nighter." He questioned as he pulled Atlas away from Ethan.

"Well, I wouldn't say all nighter, but he definitely left the house before light to go to his lab."

"Oh, then I'll just go there then. Come on Atlas." Loyally Atlas walked confidently by his side. Yes, he loves the feelings his Pokémon exude. Utter assurance in their step, resolute eyes focused on a goal, and unwavering perseverance. This, this is something he's proud of.

"Why don't we all go together, we can have breakfast there as well."

Opening the front door, a gust of wind hit his spectacles face, and for the first time it hit him all at once.

He's going on his journey. His lips curve into a small smile. This is really reality; he really is going down on the road. He can't wait.

(-)

Every Time he visits this it's always the same organized mess it usually is. Paper thrown about, Viles of unnamed concoctions placed seemingly randomly around the area, and reeking of disinfectant spray, yup, this is the professors castle of course,

"Man, dads place is still a mess as usual. I swear, didn't we clean this place last week." Ethan commented.

" Oh, you know how your father is, he is always focused on multiple tasks, and can never stay focused on just one." Mrs. Lila said.

"Indeed, you should all be used to the mess by now, as that man shall never change."

A psychic voice? The familiarity of it made him smile looking to his left when he saw the professor's first Pokémon. Cosmic the Xatu

"Hey cosmic, how have you been?" Ethan said, shyly. Cosmic is the picture-perfect definition of rigidity and discipline. Their back ramrod straight, their feathers brushed to perfection, their wings neatly folded into each other, and their eyes always narrowed in focus. The professor truly has a wonderful starter.

"Young mammal, how many times have I told you how much I loathe abstract questions that leave interpretation to others, and stand up straight, your posture is worse than a slakoth." cosmic gently chastised, causing Ethan to scratch the back of his head nervously as he fixed his posture.

Yup, ever the perfectionist, but he doesn't dislike that type of behavior.

"I'll take that as a compliment, young mammal. By the way, clean the lenses on your glasses, their smudged and it vexes me."

"But there fine, I can see perfectly-

"Clean them." Cosmic said with a tone of finality.

Knowing better than to argue with the psychic bird, he did what he was told.

"And as for you little duck, straighten your Everstone, and clean it dutifully, it's a mystery how a Pokémon that spends so much time in the water has such a dirty item on their person."

"Quack." Atlas said embarrassedly. As he too, knew not to argue.

"Anyway Cosmic, leave these kids alone, remember today's a special day, Charles is setting out on his journey, were looking for my husband." Bless your heart, for coming to our rescue, Mrs., Lila.

"The chaotic mammal isn't here at the moment. I teleported him away earlier this morning, because he received a mandatory summons from the Pokémon league. Of course, the fool didn't want to leave as he knew today was a special occasion, but they said this was urgent and he simply doesn't have the status to refuse. He gives you all his sincerest apologies." Cosmic said as he bowed lightly.

"Oh, my I thought he just left early to pursue another one of his projects in the lab when he left this morning. Do you know what it is?"

"I do, but I'm not allowed to divulge any information, due to it being classified, just know that the professor won't be back anytime soon."

"That ok, I'll just-

"He also strongly advised me to tell you not to hold your journey up just for him, he wants you to set out today before noon. You've already been held back a year; you can afford to wait no longer."

"..."

"Yes, he thought that would be your reaction, but still, he truly insists, he doesn't want you to inconvenience yourself for him, even if you believe it's not an inconvenience. Your journey will start today, and I will teleport you to Kanto within the hour, please get your belongings ready."

"Aww man, and here I thought Dad was just studying. I guess it is super important, if it was mandatory."

"Yeah, I guess it can't be helped, ever since he was instated as a professor his workload has increased dramatically. We'll just have to give you even more extra support as we send you off. Still, I wonder what was so important, that they called him so early in the morning."

"Me too." Charles thought to himself, he doesn't like to assume, but if it is something so urgent that it couldn't wait then he can't argue with the professor's wishes.

"Well ok then, but I'm already ready. I just wanted to say goodbye, for now." Charles Said awkwardly.

"Then if you're ready, we shall depart."

"Well, not the sendoff I was really hoping for, but I wish you the best of luck on your journey dear."

"Don't forget to call, and show me all the cool Pokémon you get, I bet they'll be way better than this guy." Ethan said slyly as he pointed his thumb at an aggravated Atlas. This caused him to spray water directly in his face."

Before a fight could break out again, he gently picked up Atlas and held him in his arms, as he rubbed his head soothingly.

"Come on Atlas, you know better. No fighting when saying goodbyes."

"Quack." Was his stubborn reply, as he folded his arms.

"Are you sure you don't want anything to eat?" Mrs. Lila questioned.

"It's fine, I'm perfectly ready, besides if I eat any of your food, I'll just not want to leave entirely."

"As for you Ethan, wish me luck, I'll be calling frequently, and I'll show you all the Pokémon I get on the way, each will definitely be utterly unique like you've never seen."

"Really?!" He questioned excitedly, at that he just nods his head, as he ruffled his hair, causing him to swat his hand away halfheartedly.

"Guys thank you for all you've done, I'll be seeing you all shortly." Charles said with a bow.

"Aww your welcome, but there's no need to thank us."

"Yeah, don't sweat it, anyone would have done the same."

Lies

Charles just shook his head.

"Then if you're ready, you literally said the beginning so route 1 it is. I still don't understand why you insist on Kanto."

"Because it's-

Before he could finish, a crack in space formed, and in an instant. Charles, cosmic and Atlas, vanished from the very spot they were standing in.

Teleportation truly is amazing.

(-)

'And there they go.' Lila thought to herself.

Sigh looking at the empty spot where they once were she thought to herself what now.

Those purple eyes of his are so full of adoration, of trust, of loyalty, and yet, all of that love he shows to her, and her son is nothing compared to her husband.

That type of unadulterated trust, the type to do anything, that's dangerous. Charles is dangerous. Even now her husband still won't explain fully what happened that night, all she remembers is a child covered in blood, and a stare that pierced daggers into her heart.

Yes, he was certainly unhinged, with the only thing holding him back at the time was the fact that he was with her darling Utsugi.

Sigh, she trusts her husband, and she grew to trust Charles as well, and her son absolutely adores him. And yet even though it's been years, she feels like she only scratched the surface of his true personality, and that worries her deeply, after all, if any other person saw the same thing she did that night, they too would understand why she feels this way.

Shaking her head, she decided not to look in such dreadful thoughts.

She truly wishes the best for his journey.

"Alright Ethan, let's start preparing Dinner. Since your dad will probably be exhausted from his meeting its best, we make the place as welcoming as possible."

"Oh, that makes sense, but I'm not going anywhere near the oil, it always pops at the most random of times, I don't know how you just ignore it."

"Trust me once you conquer the oil, no Pokémon will ever make you back away in fear."

(-)

Steadying himself, he makes sure not to trip, he's still not used to teleporting yet, Hopefully Atlas can get to that level one day.

A teleporting Atlas, yeah that's going to be traumatizing.

Looking at said duck he's on the floor heaving, letting out pitiful quacks, should have warned him about that. Teleporting for a first timer, whether human or Pokémon, is quite nauseating.

Looking around he sees, well not much really. He means it's cool, it's just so generic.

A Paved-out dirt road. Surrounding forest on either side. Random Pokémon frolicking about, although mostly Pidgey, and no trainers in sight. Yup, boring. Honestly, what was he really expecting?

"What, indeed?"

Looking behind him he sees cosmic as regal as ever, titling his head. Uh oh, he knows that look.

"Why do you have it?"

Trying to play it off he looked him dead in the eye, eyes blown to proportion behind his glasses.

"What happened to hating abstract questions that leave interpretations to others?"

Instead of answering, Cosmic's eyes glowed an azure blue. As his bookbag was telekinetically opened and out emerged a pair of twin sickles, that's been a part of him for all his life.

The handles were midnight black and always fitted between his palms, while the blade itself was curved into an arched C sporting a shiny silver, with the outer edge colored crimson. They were built not for removing weeds, but something much more sinister.

His stare grew a bit colder towards the Xatu, and his lips curved into a small smile.

"That wasn't nice."

Cosmic's eyes narrowed even tighter than usual.

They stared at each other for what seemed like minutes but was probably no more than 30 seconds.

"Do you want to know what I find so interesting about humans?" Cosmic finally spoke.

He didn't answer.

"It's their emotions, or rather how their emotions are tied to their actions. It is stunning, completely stunning how such weak creatures whose only strength is their intelligence can go through with some of the cruelest acts known to all living things, and yet switch to love a second later. Undaunted by the consequences, humans unlike Pokémon are unpredictable, and it's quite frightening. For it's that emotion, called love, that makes them capable of being so cruel. They use it to fuel themselves, their actions and their reasoning. All for the sake of the goal they decided to pursue using their short lives."

What is he getting at?

"What I'm 'getting at' as you put it, is that I'm already aware of your goals. It's because I'm aware that I both trust you and am wary. Why am I wary? Because love is the greatest power of humanity, and it is because of that love that they are able to do anything, that includes the most heinous of acts, the evilest of deeds. Your nature, your true nature, that only the professor and I are aware of is quite frankly frightening."

My smile curved a bit downward.

"The professor already stated that you don't owe him anything, and yet you don't feel that way at all. I'm not here to tell you how to feel, but what I am here to tell you is to be careful how you go about this.

"I would never do anything to undermine him!" Charles said more fiercely than he intended.

" I already know that, but what about others? I bet you'll steal from the kindest, hurt the most innocent, and cripple the most righteous if it means you can help the professor, and by default anyone he cares for."

"..."

"Your silence is the only answer I need. We both know Elm isn't the most respected professor, and we both have our own way of helping him with his goals, because to us he's the greatest damn person out there. However, the difference between you and I, is that I can look him in the eye with my methods, do you think you can say the same."

After that Cosmic stretched its rainbow-colored wing in Psyduck's direction.

"The professor, sees good in you, he trusts you, which is why he never doubted your sugary words, and bright smile, when you told him you always admired the Psyduck species, but you and I both know, you held no love for this duck at the beginning, you only chose it because of the research that Elm presented was shot down by other more recognized professor's for its unbelievable conclusions. If Elm knew the true reasoning for your choice, he'd be very disappointed, not to mention wouldn't even have let you go through with it, as he doesn't believe in Pokémon being used as tools."

The more Cosmic spoke the more anger Charles felt, his fist were clenched, and his bottom lip was bleeding from how hard he was biting it.

"You speak of me like you know me Cosmic. You don't understand me at all, no matter how far you're capable of seeing into the future or the past. Because if you did, then you would know, it's. All. I. Know!" He said with emphasis.

"I don't know how to go about helping him in any way other than my own. The way that was beaten into me since my youth, the way she taught me. It's because of her, that I'm like this, and it's because of her that I can't see myself living a normal life, like the rest of you do."

"And do you truly believe the professor would be fine with that."

"No! But what else can I do? I want to help him, he. he saved a worthless nobody like me, and it pisses me off how those pathetic losers always laugh at him. If only, if only he could just tell me what I'm supposed to do, what I can do. I'd do it in a heartbeat, it would be so much easier. But he keeps talking to me about freewill, about my choice, that's just something I can't comprehend. I just... I want to be useful to the only person that gives a damn about me." He finished quite lamely as he kicked a rock.

Surprisingly the blunt end of his sickles tapped his head, and he gently grabbed them from their position in the air.

"We all want to be recognized, as we all believe that only in the eyes of others do our own lives hold any value, but the way you're going about it is wrong, that's what this journey is for, not just for your Pokémon, but for yourself as their trainer. I truly have faith in you, but if you really want to help the professor then you need to help yourself first."

"Help myself, I'm-"

"You are not fine." Cosmic softly interrupted.

"It's unfortunate to say, but you are broken, but luckily not beyond repair, you are a creature that loves controlled chaos, all for the sake of your goals, and as long as it benefits the professor's, you don't care who gets hurt, or even who dies."

He's not wrong.

"I know, which is why I'll leave you with this parting advice. If you truly wish to help the professor, then find out how to live without him, don't make your every waking moment centered around him, and figure out what Charles Elm personally wants."

At that last part his eyes grew wide, and his jaw clenched shut. Elm? That... he can't… he's. At his shocked expression, the Xatu's beak curved upward.

"For someone so bright, you're really rather dim on the most obvious of subjects, you've been a part of the family for years."

"But I, I'm just…" it's very rare he gets tongue tied, and he believed Xatu found it amusing.

"Quack." Atlas said as it looked into his shocked expression completely oblivious to their conversation.

" The very fact that you doubt your worth is why you must focus on yourself, you're completely blind to your own glory, the same shing glory that the others see clear as day. Yes, even this Psyduck knows how great you are, it's why they trust your judgment concerning their evolution."

"..."

"Be wise young mammal, and remember this journey isn't about the professor, it isn't about his research, it isn't about Lila or Ethan. It's about you. Make of that what you will and remember to have fun."

And with that, Cosmic disappeared without a trace. Her use of teleport is as always, brilliant.

"...". Silence stretched as he stared at the spot where Cosmic once stood.

"He, he really can't stand that bird sometimes." He said out loud, but his words didn't match the smile he was sporting. Putting his sickles away, he takes off his glasses, and wipes away the wet mark on his left cheek.

Feeling something on his side he looks down and sees Atlas hugging his leg. Carefully, he sat down on the dirt road, and hugged Atlas silently, not saying a word.

'What he wants huh.' He thought as he pressed his face in the Psyduck's soft feathers. He can't even imagine such a thing, he wanted whatever the professor wanted, he still wants that, but apparently that's not the right answer. Is it really bad to want something for another or is it bad because that's his only desire.

A Pokémon journey? For himself? broken?

Looking at the road ahead he can't see the end.

His journey goes as far as he takes it huh. He doesn't know if this is the right choice, he always envisioned himself as a tool. But he'll try, just this once, and the only way he'll find the answer is… He'll just have to aim high and see where he falls.

"Atlas, I don't know whether I'm doing the right thing or not, but I want to give this thing a serious shot, what do you say? Do you want to be the first ever Psyduck to be a champion?"

"Quack!" Atlas flapped his arms excitedly. That got a smile out of him.

His expectation for this journey got completely flipped upside down, but… but maybe that's fine.

Looking up at the shifting cloud, he saw two pidgey fly off into the distance.

Live for himself huh. It seems…. impossible.

"Today is the day! Today's the day!" A young boy no older than 11 cried in excitement as he got ready for the day.

If one were to look at the boy's room, it is obvious what he wants. Pokémon posters, A Charmander stuffed animal, a Pikachu alarm clock, a poke ball shaped television. This boy wants to be a Pokémon trainer it's all he has ever had his sights on, and his name is-

"Red! Come on down and eat some breakfast, you have to be at Professor Oak's lab within the hour."

"On my way mom." Fixing his red and white cap on top of his head, his crimson eyes looked back at the room for what will be the last time for months."

"Today I'm taking the first step towards my dream. I'm going to be the very best, the Pokémon champion!"

"Red! How many times have I said no screaming in the house!"

Wincing he rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment. "Haha, sorry mom, my bad."

With that he closed the door to his room.

And scene, so what do you think, decided to give a shot at a Pokémonstory, and although there was some hiccups, I'm ultimately satisfiedwith his chapter. Now why a Psyduck, simply because I thought they flopped, with only one evolution, Golduck's along with many other Pokémon need more love.

I know I loved watching Misty's Psyduck constantly troll her throughout the series. Our main character has some baggage and didn't have such a flowery start in the beginning and touch up on that more in the future. As for Red, I love Red centric fanfic, so I couldn'tresist. But anyway, that's it for this chapter thanks for reading and see you next time.
