X arrives at the city by the sea.
Cici: X! There's been a large Maverick reading in the sea. Stop it before it can cause more damage.
X: Roger that!
X steps into the sand and encounters his first encounter with enemies. Several Amenhoppers and Mega Tortoises stand in his way. X uses Electric Spark to eliminate his foes from the sand. As he advances, he realizes that the sand floor is becoming deeper and deeper. He has no choice but to go under. To his surprise, he can actually breathe and stand underwater.
Knowing this, he goes deeper into the ocean. As he is traversing his way around the various pits of spikes and other traps, several Sea Attackers emerge from below the sand and begin to attack in formations. X gets onto a higher sand elevation and opens fire on the formation.
As the path continues, a giant Anglarge emerges from the sand. It wastes no time trying to suck X into it. X does his best to resist until the stream pushes him back out. Just then, the antenna begins to attack.
X (thinking): Shoot, I need something to repel that blast!
X switches to Rolling Shield and shoots it at the antenna, destroying it. Now with the upper hand, he fires away at the rest of the fish, destroying it completely. As he keeps going and pursuing the mission, a Gulpfer eats him and fully engulfs X in his mouth. But, just before he can eat him, X fires several shots to break free.
Just ahead, he sees another giant Anglarge and quickly takes it out with quick succession. While standing, he notices a gust of a current taking him to the surface. Once he does, he notices a Cruiziler polluting the ocean.
X: I have to stop him before he fills the entire ocean with oil!
Without hesitation, X jumps on the boat and opens fire on its core, destroying it and causing it to sink to the bottom. X quickly jumps off of it and onto the sand. Just right ahead is a Utuboros, a giant mechaniloid water snake. Without hesitation, X jumps on its tail and fires. Then, once the tail comes off, X aims for the head and destroys it, destroying the mechaniloid. After another wave of enemies, X finds the hallway that leads to Launch Octopus.
Launch Octopus: Ah, X. You've come this far, haven't you?
X: Octopus, what's going on? Have you gone maverick too?
Octopus: Maverick? I wouldn't say that. I feel that it is my duty to defect to Sigma's cause.
X: Then, in that case, I must destroy you!
Octopus launches several torpedoes from his shoulder canons. X tries to evade them, but the torpedoes keep following him till X shoots them down. But then, Octopus jumps up and tries to attract X in with a Whirlpool. X desperately tries to evade it and is almost sucked in until Octopus falls back on the ground and attacks with metal piranhas. X switches to Rolling Shield and fires at the piranhas and Octopus, destroying him.
X: Base, Come In! Mission Complete!
X heads back to base.
