A/N: Hey guys! So, here's my first random shot. In this story, I will be presenting Kai's childhood. I know his childhood was really dark and dangerous. However, my story will focus on his age 5 years old, before he started living at Biovolt Abbey. He was the only son of Susumu Hiwatari and Misaki Hiwatari.
I tried to show the happy side of him because he felt always lonely after his mom passed away. His sister...the story will have a connection with my current story. You will understand, let's see!
Enjoy.
~His Happiness~
(One shot)
On Christmas Eve in Russia, snow blanketed the streets of the city. Bakeries were filled with customers. The city glowed with festive lights, and the large Christmas tree standing in the center of the road sparkled with twinkling lights. The main attraction of the evening was the Hiwatari Mansion. Wrapped in Christmas lights, it was the largest house in the city.
Voltaire Hiwatari, the owner of the Hiwatari Corporation, hosted a grand Christmas party at his mansion. Many luxury vehicles lined the parking lot, as numerous well-mannered guests entered the lavish residence. They appeared to be wealthy and highly educated, but their true intentions remained unknown. The expansive lawn teemed with people. A fountain stood proudly in the center of the pool. Bright lights illuminated every corner.
Within the mansion, the same scene greeted everyone. Every corner was crowded. Susumu Hiwatari, Voltaire's son, welcomed everyone respectfully, assisted by their main butler, John. However, amidst all this noise and celebration, there was one innocent soul who sat alone in a chair.
Kai Hiwatari, age 5, was Susumu Hiwatari's only son. His expression was emotionless as he swung his legs. Guests tried to greet him, but he ignored them. Finally, after searching for Kai, Mr. Hiwatari found him. He sighed in relief. He had told Kai to keep smiling many times, but who listened to those words?
He called John over and pointed at him. John nodded and went to the little boy while his dad became busy with the guests again. The butler knelt down to face Kai, who was looking away.
John said, "Master Kai, please come and meet with them." Kai remained silent and shook his head in disapproval. "But why?"
"I don't want to join them," Kai replied, still avoiding eye contact with the old man. "I'm okay here."
"But if you don't, then your dad will be angry with you," John said. He hoped his young master understood this, but he knew that once he makes his mind up to do something, no one can stop him.
"Let him do whatever he wants," Kai said, shaking his head. "I am not going to do anything." He spoke his words slowly, as of course he was a child. John sighed and stared at him for some moments before getting up, clearly understanding that no one would change his mind.
After he left, Kai started sobbing silently; he remembered her mother's words.
"On Christmas Eve, Santa will definitely make your wish come true."
When he closed his eyes, he saw his mother, Misaki Hiwatari, smiling at him. The same 24th December last year, she had gone to sleep forever. That's why he hated this day more than anything else. Every time he went to sleep, he missed all the hugs and kisses that were given to him by his sweetest mom. No one was there to give him all the love and care. Tears began rolling down his soft cheeks as he thought about how lonely he was.
"Mom, you said Santa would make my wish come true, so why isn't he doing anything about it?" He looked up, even though he knew no one had an answer for him.
It was Christmas Eve, and every child wanted something from Santa Claus—some toys and many other things. But there was a little boy who didn't want anything material; he just wanted happiness and his dear mother. All the guests who had come had gifted him toys, clothes, school bags, and more. However, Kai, who had just told John to take them away from his sight.
Because he didn't want those things, and nobody could give him what he actually wanted. The parties, lights, cakes, trees, music, and guests were just distracting Kai. He also wished to vanish from there and go somewhere where no one could irritate him; where he and his mother could be alone. But he knew that those things wouldn't happen.
In this overcrowded area, no one seemed to care that there was also a sad soul among them. When some people tried to talk to Kai, he just glared at them, especially the aunts who would come and pretend to care about him. He just hated it, and thankfully, they eventually left after noticing his glare.
After some minutes, Kai got bored and decided to go to his room. Just then, he heard a child's cry. Looking over his shoulder, he couldn't see anything through the crowd; all he could hear was the baby's cry. Trying to see something, he finally spotted a young woman, hugging his father tightly, while his father also held her. If he hadn't made any mistakes, then she was his aunt, his father's little sister.
Serena Hiwatari, but after marriage she became a member of the Kurayami family, and lived in Japan. Standing beside her was a young man; without doubt, it was Makoto Kurayami, her husband. Then where was the baby crying? Bending down slightly, Kai saw an elderly woman holding a baby in her arms. He couldn't see the baby's face.
"I'm so happy to see you after a long time, Serena," Susumu said while breaking the hug. Serena smiled and nodded. "Where is my niece?"
Looking at his mother who was holding their daughter, Makoto smiled as she handed their daughter over to Mr. Hiwatari. Immediately taking her in his arms, Mr. Hiwatari said, "Oh-ho, don't cry; I'm your uncle." He spoke in a playful tone, trying to make her laugh, but it didn't work and she continued to cry.
"We don't know why, but during the entire car ride, she kept crying," Serena informed her brother as he looked at her.
"Don't worry, she's just a child, I have experienced," he winked.
"Oh! Where is our Kai?" she exclaimed after hearing her brother's words and looked left and right.
"He?" Susumu looked somewhere, "There," and then finished by pointing at the five-year-old boy. Noticing their gazes on him, Kai quickly turned his face to the other side. Serena smiled and asked her brother to give her daughter to her and went in the direction where the duel haired boy was sitting. Meanwhile, Mr. Hiwatari started talking with Makoto and Yasoshi.
The young lady approached Kai, who was still looking away. "Kai?" she called, but he didn't respond. Serena was his favorite aunt; that was the reason behind why he didn't dare to glare at her. She knelt down in front of him. Kai couldn't help but try to glance at her from the corner of his eye, causing her to giggle.
"Kai looked at me," he slowly turned to face her as his eyes fell on the crying little baby in her arms. Serena noticed his gaze and understood. "I have a Christmas gift for you." He again looked up at her.
She said, "Place your hands and close your eyes." Obeying her, Kai placed his little hands in the air and closed his eyes. She slowly put his daughter in his hands. Kai felt a light weight on his hands; eyes opened. He looked down and saw the little baby in his lap.
Serena said, "This is your Christmas gift." Kai just stared at her tear-stained face; he tightened his grip on her. The strange thing was that her tears immediately stopped as soon as she felt someone else's touch, and it made her feel comforted.
"Wow! How did you do this, my nephew? The maroon-haired woman asked in wonder, for it was no less than a miracle that she had suddenly stopped crying. The little girl opened her little eyes and looked up at the person who held her. Her chocolate brown eyes immediately met with the crimson ones.
Seeing them, she said, "They're your little sisters." She waited for Kai's reply. He looked up in shock and started to say, "My...?" but was cut off by his aunt.
"Your little sister." The Russian again looked down, unaware of the smile that had appeared on his face. "Her name is..."
"Momo!" Kai interrupted, not letting her finish. Serena was shocked as she recalled that he used this name to call his mother, Misaki. "My Momo," he repeated his words. Suddenly, the little boy jumped off the chair and started walking upstairs. The young woman blinked, trying to understand the situation.
Getting up, she muttered, "Kai?" The sister of Mr. Hiwatari tried to stop him, but she failed. She didn't want to take away her nephew's happiness as if she were being selfish. So, she just stood there, watching her daughter in Kai's arms until he slammed his room's door behind him. Smiling, Serena thought that she hadn't been wrong about Kai; her mission had succeeded in making him happy.
In his room...
After closing the door behind him, Kai quickly climbed onto his large, luxurious bed. He placed his sister on it gently and whistled, calling out, 'Dranzer! Come out!' He exclaimed cheerfully, staring at his drawer. The little girl also turned her face towards the drawer as a strong, bright light emerged from within.
After several seconds, the light slowly vanished, revealing a bright orange colored Phoenix. It was the same size as Kai. Its features were glowing with fire within its body. He opened his eyes and looked at the brother and sister. "Who is this?" Dranzer asked as he stopped flying and sat on the bed. His voice also sounded like a child's.
"Meet my sister, Momo," Kai said excitedly. His excitement grew as he couldn't stop his happiness from showing on his face. "Momo?" Dranzer raised his eyebrows and looked down at the little girl, who was smiling up at him.
"Great, I'll be right there." The Russian folded his arms and ordered his friend. Following his master, the phoenix bowed down. "My master's sister is also my mistress," he said, but suddenly he felt tiny hands touching his face. It was Momo; Dranzer couldn't help but feel shocked. It was not even possible for humans to touch creatures like him.
Then how did this happen?
"Wow! You mean she can touch you, so why didn't you ever let me do it?" complained Kai, but Dranzer remained silent as everything was too complicated for him to understand. Meanwhile, the little boy stood up on his knees and tried to touch the phoenix. "No, Master," he said. "You can't."
"Ouch!" The Russian failed to touch him and fell on the floor as if he hadn't been there at all. Dranzer flew over to inspect, saying, "I told you." Kai rolled off the bed with an irritated expression on his face, exclaiming, "That's not fair! If she can do it, then why can't I?"
"It's not a big deal that you can't touch me," the firebird said in confusion. "I'm confused as to how she did this." The firebird asked in confusion. It was really strange. Sitting down on the bed, it continued, "Are you a ghost or something? Nobody can touch you?" Kai inquired.
"Oh-oh, Master, you will find out soon enough," the bird chirped, "but for now I must return in my chip."
"You can."
"Merry Christmas!" Dranzer wished him before going back inside the opened drawer. Everything became silent. Kai lay down and looked over his head. He noticed that Momo had already fallen asleep. Rolling over his bed, he found a comfortable spot from where he could see his sister clearly.
He touched her cheeks; they were so soft and chubby, making him giggle. It was already 12:00 o'clock at night, and the Christmas songs started playing downstairs. In normal days, Kai didn't like those, but for now, everything seemed beautiful to him. He had never felt that much happiness or peace since his mother's death. Was it the Christmas magic? He didn't know. All he knew was that she was his Momo, and he didn't want to know her real name.
Yawning, Kai said, "Goodnight, Momo." He closed his eyes and smiled at the sleepy figure. His index finger was still held in her sister's hand. However, it was still unknown to them as to who had come that night and stopped his ride beside Kai's window. Who had opened the window and put something inside the Russian boy's room? Then again, he went back to his ride.
The last words Kai heard from him were, "Merry Christmas! Ho! Ho! Ho!" And with the bells ringing, he flew over the moonlit sky. The snow began falling again, and the Christmas tree continued to shine gracefully throughout the night under the Christmas lights.
A/N: So, that's it. I hope you have understood who is Kai's sister and what the connection between him and her. I know today isn't Christmas but I don't have enough patience to wait until 25th December so... And I will update my story after some days.
