Episode 1

(Running! Explosions! Demolition of state property!)

"Pierce points out things on the screen cliché. I see we are starting early." One sin added.

(Narration.)

"It has been a long time since the last game and a lot has changed. What would you prefer? That the game thrust you into action without any background on what is going on or how the characters got there? I'm fairly certain you would attempt to sin that as well, seeing how much you need your hand held when playing games." One sin added.

(Anime episode in the middle of a video game)

"Pierce points out things on the screen cliché. Again!" one sin added.

[(Athena falls down the stairs.) I did that once. That's a couple of broken bones, probably a broken neck, certain unconsciousness then and there and…whoa. Gregory Edgeworth is a bailiff?]

"I also fell down the stairs once. Face-first, actually. And guess what? I didn't even crack a nail. Those things are lucky. You…do know there is no determined outcome on what happens in every situation, don't you? It differs for every person, depending on the circumstances or just luck. And the answer to your question is no." one sin added.

(This bracelet was placed over Apollo's bandages. The next tense person to walk by will further break his wrist and it will be his own fault.)

"Well, he cannot properly defend without that bracelet. He prefers to suffer a bit than to completely lose his only chance at finding the truth. And I find it odd you focus only on that. The guy is about to go into trial as the defense while being a wreck. He is already asking for it. He may seem stupid, but that's what the power of love can do to you." One sin added.

[(Juniper gives Athena an orange) Last I checked, food wasn't allowed in the detention center. This gesture might be sweet, but miss Woods would have to hide that orange from the police. This is a really stupid reason to break the law.]

"Stupid? Athena is her best friend and she is extremely nervous as this trial is important to her. Junie wants to calm her down. And as she says, the orange symbolizes strength and endurance, which is just what Athena needs." One sin added.

[(Apollo falls down) Casual unconsciousness in the defendant lobby. Again. Did that need to be a tradition? I don't think that needed to be a tradition.]

"Tradition? It has only happened twice. I don't think something happening twice under completely different circumstances can count as a tradition." One sin added.

(Judge has not aged since the first game. He also doesn't have a name. At this point, I think he's an android. Calling the theory now.)

"The judge's age is unknown. If he aged, it would mean he would have to die at some point. Do we want him to die? No, we don't. This is a fictional universe. People don't have to age normally." One sin added.

(Athena's superpower includes emojis, mental imaging and reading her own mind.)

"Pierce points things out on the screen again. You know we can see those things too, right?." One sin added.

(Athena had to submit a petition to take over the case. Phoenix just walks in and shouts objection because…Phoenix Wright.)

"How exactly is Athena taking over the case any different? You say she submitted a petition to do so, but…a petition implies you do it in writing and in advance. Athena just said she will take over the case one minute before walking into the court to a random bailiff. That's basically what Phoenix did minus the bailiff part." One sin added.

(Also, how long was he waiting out there? Did he just have an ear to the door, waiting to make his dramatic entrance? Was it a coincidence? Either way, I am sinning it.)

"It's very clearly the former. In which case…sinning Phoenix for being Phoenix. Really, being dramatic and over the top about everything is the core of his character. I honestly cannot understand why you want characters to just…not be themselves. Asking Phoenix to stop being overdramatic and act like a normal person is like…asking batman to walk into a building through the front door instead of crash through a window or like asking Deadpool to stop breaking the fourth wall. Sure, they could both stop doing those things. But that wouldn't be their style. They are so unique and loved because they have those unite character traits. The same goes for Phoenix." One sin added.

(Ted Tonate)

"Sinning Ted. This guy is great. He is my second favorite culprit in this game. He is a dick and an asshole, as he is supposed to be, but he is also pretty dang funny and has the most ridiculous yet laughter-inducing breakdown." One sin added

(A bomb that was supposedly disarmed goes off in a courtroom full of people. You think the bomb specialist did it? Nah, dude. It was definitely the high school student.)

"Well, her fingerprints were found on phony phanty's tale and the bomb was found inside a phony phanty doll. Yes, it is proven it was from a different doll later, but right now, the evidence is quite strong. You point out the case is unrealistic, but…the point of this game is to show you how the system has reached rock bottom, being filled with false charges and fabricated evidence. I will admit that the dark age of the law thing was a bit contrived and not a lot of thought was put in it, but it justifies the sloppy police work done here." One sin added.

(Ted Tonate wants to speak like a robot. Because this game doesn't get enough robot interaction later and needs more mechanical bullshit.)

"So a witness in an ace attorney game has an unusual quirk…and why exactly is that a sin? This makes him entertaining and unique as a character. And this is actually one of the main reasons why he is my second favorite killer in the game." One sin added.

(He got this bomb inside court. The day after a bombing. Is it any wonder this place got blown up in the first place?)

"No, you are right. They had it coming. But that's not a sin. That's another instance of why the system is so corrupt. Tonate is deemed completely trustworthy because he is a police officer. Huge mistake. So when he says the bomb is a model used for field training, they let him roll with it."

(This stuffed animal nonsense seems okay now, but we later learn it was from the case at the space center. So…why was the bomb put in a stuffed animal for that case? Did the police actually recover it inside phony phanty?)

"…..yes." one sin added.

(Also, phony phanty.)

"Why is that a sin? This is actually a sign that the authorities are aware of their system's decay and try to campaign for its betterment by protesting against forgeries and false accusations. Sure, it does seem a bit too little too late, but you gotta give them credit." One sin added.

(Those goggles are cool and all ,but…where are his eyes?)

"Under…the goggles? What kind of dumb question is that? I have never put goggles on, but I still know they are supposed to hide your eyes." One sin added.

(Apollo is hit on the head with a rock. And already heavily injured. Yeah…that guy is dead.)

"No. It seems you don't get protagonists in this series cannot die. If they did…the series would be left without characters. And we would have lost a bunch of hilarious, iconic moments. This is like a cartoon, people can get hurt, but not die unless the plot demands it." One sin added.

(I identified my attacker with my blood cliché.)

(After five games and three spinoffs of killers abusing the above cliché, the culprit still thinks it's a viable way to cast suspicion on the defendant. Step up your game, murderer.)

"Okay, but…you literally sinned this one sin above. The reason I wrote it was to show this to everyone. If you sinned this "cliché"…why are you sinning it again? Are you padding the sin count, sis? I think you are padding the sin count." One sin added.

(Oh no, it's a bomb scare! With a bomb we watch you literally take apart, put back together and chew on the wires of throughout the whole trial. The question isn't why anyone would stay to face you. The question is why anyone would flee.)

"Because earlier it was played for laughs. Taking and putting back together a real bomb is possible, but not at the speed we see here. Now that Ted actually threatens us…this stops being a silly animation style and becomes deadly serious. It may seems unnatural, but this is not the first time the series goes from silly to scary in minutes." One sin added.

(Payne didn't come back to see his own defeat.)

"Pierce points something out on the screen again! This chapter is half pointing things on the screen when you think about it. And considering how short it is, that's not a good thing." One sin added.

(Apollo has been caught in an explosion, phychically assaulted and fallen unconscious in the courthouse twice. And you people wonder why he wants to take a leave of absence? Let the man recover, goddammit it! It only takes one day in this series!)

"You are misrepresenting this scene. Apollo does not take a leave of absence to recover and rest. If that's what he wanted, they would have been fine with it. But he specifically states he plans to keep working. His leave of absence will be dedicated to investigating Clay's death on his own. This strikes them as odd because they were all together on the case so far. They don't yet know Apollo has actually began to suspect Athena, so they don't understand why he is pushing them away after all they've been thorough together. Apollo was basically a pawn in the last game, but he gains a lot of character growth in this one." One sin added.

Total sin tally: 23

Sentence: caught in an explosion
