"Wsp bro ur writing is awesome" – Pemlonepelop
Good day Pem! Thank you for such a compliment, I hope to develop my writing skills even more in the future! Though I created a few mistakes in accordance to how I wrote, I still will improve my writing skills for my future novel series.
"Your story felt very accurate to the movies. Definitely could feel that vibe. I've seen the first movie many times as a child so it's good to see that the characters are accurate" – Jtaz
Thank you buddy for the private message! I hope to maintain the accuracy whilst at the same time, improve my writing skills!
Notice: I've added an original character and named them because I need to link one of Cruella's sidequests from the game into my fanfiction. Thank you for noticing!
Chapter 5: Not A DeVil To Worry About
It's a calm night in Radcliffe Residence at around seven o'clock as the grandfather clock shows, there are some puppies that await their new father Pongo, many enjoy their new life for the first few days inside the house but most importantly to them, there is no such thing as a cruel devil to do more harm to them.
Amidst the peace felt by the Dalmatians is chaos by the puppies themselves, numbering up to ninety-nine. Near the grandfather clock is one small puppy, counting. "Thirty-six, thirty-seven, thirty-eight, thirty-nine, forty!" they exclaim for others to hear as if they seem to be playing.
"Ready or not, here I go!" they turn their face away from the grandfather clock after counting and so reveals themselves to be as Cadpig, one of Pongo and Perdita's biological children."Now where are you all? Come out come out wherever you all are please, for I am a friend and not a Cruella." Cadpig calls out her siblings sweetly who are hiding to not be seen by her as they play a variant of the game known as hide and seek.
"Not here!" shouted Pepper who is with Freckles above the couch, dandelion in color, in front of the grandfather clock and beside the television. "Shh! Pepper what have you done? That wasn't too stealthy!" Freckles whispers softly to his brother. "Sorry Freckles, I didn't know." Pepper speaks loudly in realization, making Freckles to use his paws in covering Pepper's mouth.
"Shh!" Freckles whispers again near his brother's left ear. Fortunately, Cadpig creeps slowly near the couch, giving them a little more time to think or be caught later. When she reached the wall of the couch in order to take a look at them so she can return back to the grandfather clock, make them lose the game and become the seeker, out a puppy emerges from the couch, jumping past her and landing swiftly on the floor.
Once again, it is Freckles.
"Forty forty, I see you Freckles! You're going to be the "It" now!" shouts Cadpig whilst racing against the already ahead Freckles. "Not until you can get back to your base!" Freckles laughs shortly whilst looking at her afterwards. After going past their fellow puppies that are like obstacles, he then touches the grandfather clock after running towards it to show that he can't become a seeker.
"Forty forty home!" Freckles announces loudly whilst smiling." Well Cadpig, I ain't becoming a seeker anytime soon if it's always like this!" Cadpig hears Freckles' words, bemoaning the loss of not being able to capture him earlier. "If only I knew that you are also stealthy in this, then I could've planned your capture differently."
"Well I can't blame you for not being prepared Cadpig. There's still a good chance you're making someone else the seeker, I guess." says Freckles as clarification and Cadpig restoring her hopes. "Yes Freckles, surely I will." Cadpig then turns around to see Pepper running towards the base. "Forty forty, I see you Pepper! Yes! I finally get to caught someone!" Cadpig rejoices after announcing her capture of Pepper.
"Pepper, why did you suddenly run towards the base?" Freckles speaks whilst tilting his head out of confusion. "Sorry Freckles, I thought I'd be able to reach the base since Cadpig was looking behind." Pepper although being embarrassed in thought, is smiling awkwardly and so Freckles shooks his head in disbelief for what happened. "Pepper, that's not how it works. You could've done what I did but you risked it all and now you're the seeker."
"Yes, you know I can turn my head to look behind at any time that moment. But I guess that's what happens when you don't think before you act. Same goes to me earlier." Cadpig reminds her brother the importance of thinking before doing anything with Pepper chuckling, with Lucky, Patch, Rolly and Penny returning back to the grandfather clock.
"Well that was so fast! I thought it would be much more longer." Rolly feels shocked as well as the other three puppies. "Yeah, what happened?" Penny is confused about the situation and Pepper explains what was the cause making himself and the puppies laugh as what happened was ridiculous in their thoughts.
"Alrighty but this round now, I'm gonna make sure ya'll gonna regret your laughs, or maybe one of you will." Pepper warns "Yeah sure Pepper! Ah rats, this is gonna be a long round I guess." Rolly rolls his eyes whilst Freckles laughs silently.
"Alright round start! Ya better hide now Rolly, Lucky, Patch, Penny, Freckles and Cadpig cus' I'm getting ya Rolly, Lucky, Patch, Penny, Freckles and Cadpig, and one of you will become a seeker from either of you Rolly, Lucky, Patch, Penny, Freckles and-" Cadpig cuts him speaking, who she and her siblings are already laughing at his long dialogue whilst at the same time, feeling annoyed at him. "Can you just simplify it, please?"
"Sorry Cadpig. Alrighty then my brothers and sisters, round, start, NOW! One, two, three, four…" he announces his counting, having his eyes closed while his siblings went to their designated hiding spots. "Thirty-eight, thirty-nine, forty! Ready or not, here I come, Lucky, Patch, Rolly, Freckles, Penny, and C-"
"Can you please stop it now Pepper?" Cadpig speaks out, feeling annoyed already. "Aha! Now I'm getting you!" Pepper speaks with joy whilst Cadpig, who's hiding behind his sight on the same couch, realizes what she had done and then regrets it. But suddenly just as Pepper was about to move, sound was heard from the outside. It's the sound of an approaching car looking simple, lengthy and painted in red which slows down and then parks in front of the door.
Perdita expects it to be the devil-woman herself by the way the car was being maneuvered and so guards the hall to defend her children, hoping it isn't her again. "Children, I hope this isn't the devil-woman again." Shock becomes the emotion the children feel as well as Pepper who forgot to continue on playing, all unknowing of the one driving and slowly approaching the door although Nanny approaches the door.
"Next time Roger please don't press the break too fast, you are making me worried." Anita's concern for her husband reaches the insides of the house, making everyone inside hear her voice. Perdita sighs in relief and everybody inside the house feels excited as Anita, Roger and their pet, Pongo has just returned from their travel.
"Who is it that I may know their name?" Nanny asks while on the door for confirmation which is done every time since the kidnapping of the puppies. "It's us Nanny, me and my dear." Roger speaks and so did Pongo, barking loudly at the door making him and Anita chuckle. Nanny then opens the door for them to enter.
"Oh Pongo, my dear!" Perdita speaks sweetly whilst rubbing her head against the left side of Pongo's head and then licking his cheek. "Oh my dear Perdy, I have finally come home!" Pongo speaks sweetly and then licks her cheek but then the puppies including the six puppies who abandoned playing entered and flooded the hall, excited for their new adoptive father whilst Perdita smiles in happiness. They greet Pongo with hugs, nuzzles, licks and kisses and proceed to ask questions. The hallway is filled with voices from the puppies, creating so much noise that it becomes incomprehensible for Pongo to hear after a few seconds.
"We'll talk about that inside children. It's too crowded in here." Pongo reminds them about the small hallway they're in and proceeds to walk inside the living room along with the children whilst Roger and Anita carry bags of Kanine Krunchies for such a large family to feed.
Rolly smells the grand and tempting aroma coming out from the bag of Kanine Krunchies and then follows the bag being Nanny the one carrying it. However, she notices him following the bag and tells him to wait later for the dinner and he acknowledges what she means. Roger and Anita went outside back to their new car to deliver their ordered dinner inside.
"Awe, I guess we're ending this game, or maybe not." Pepper near the grandfather clock complains that the round wasn't continued due to his father being home now. "Yeah Pepper, we'll play this sometime, after all we need to eat. I'm getting hungry already from the smell of food!" Freckles reassures his brother to which Pepper takes his chances and touches the grandfather clock beside him. "Forty forty, I see you Freckles! Remember, the round doesn't end until the seeker catches someone."
"Awe, I should've known! Alright you got me Pepper." Freckles accepts his role as the seeker whilst the other five puppies approach them. "I guess we'll play again tomorrow. But that means, Freckles will become the "it". Rats!" Rolly reminds his fellow siblings about Freckles who are feeling nervous, as they all know that although he makes mistakes, he is observant and unpredictable for what will happen next.
Lucky then gives a positive insight in response to Rolly's opinion. "But that also means we must create new ways on how to go back into the base! I guess that doesn't sound too bad to be taught how to be sneaky by Freckles." Patch nods his head to support Lucky's statement. "I agree with Lucky, having a seeker who observes a lot makes it feel more exciting, and scary!"
"Alrighty then, let's end this game and wait for the food!" Freckles calls to postpone their game of hide-and-seek with his siblings, which they decided to postpone with their heads nodding. All of them then moved towards their father for stories to talk of except for Rolly. He smells once again food and its grand and tempting aroma coming from the hallway and then follows the scent. But then they notice him later following the scent of the take-out dinner and so Roger tells him to wait later for the dinner and he acknowledges what he meant and went to listen with his siblings to their father.
For a little while, Pongo and the puppies are having a conversation with the puppies telling their experiences first. "Mom said that we're gonna have a new home dad, is it really true?" Lucky asks his father for confirmation. "Yes Lucky boy, we went through some places! However, we haven't found a place we can make as our home but I'm sure we will hopefully find the place we're looking for."
"Oh, I guess we'll wait and hope for dad to find a new home for us right everybody?" Lucky although hearing that their father still haven't found a place they'll make their new home, encourages hope to his fellow brothers and sisters. "YES!" shouts Patch considering his rowdy attitude which causes puppies to agree with them.
"But let's remember that food comes first! We can't just wait forever without eating!" Pepper jokes loudly about the dinner being prepared to them in a silly voice whilst sounding motivational, causing laughter and the desire for food among the puppies and a chuckle by his parents. "Awe rats, now I'm hungrier than before!" complains Rolly.
"Dinner time!" Nanny's voice alerts the puppies, their reactions being their heads turning in sync towards the kitchen and their eyes widen whilst some sniff the scent of Kanine Krunchies. They then rush towards the kitchen along with their parents who instead walk inside to have dinner. The aroma of Kanine Krunchies coming directly from the food bowl made the puppies to desire further in eating the food, their mouths ready to munch.
The bowls, although being many in number are being filled with hungry mouths. Slowly the Kanine Krunchies slowly are being consumed by the puppies, therefore satisfying their hunger until it is all gone from each bowl. Pongo and Perdita have their dinner in the same bowl near the kitchen door whilst watching their children along with their owners and Nanny inside the kitchen, their dinner being of three dishes and their food is known as "Bangers and Mash", a traditional British dish consisting of sausages, mashed potatoes, a large quantity of peas and the gravy held by their hands and poured into the sausages. They prayed in typical Anglican fashion and then proceed to eat afterwards.
"So Nanny, how's the day today without us?" Roger asks in concern as they weren't in the residence for most of the day. "Well, I've already watered the plants, prepared our dinner, and took care of the puppies. Since some of them were eager for a walk, I decided to let them in the park." "Oh that's alright Nanny, at least we have nothing to worry about but are you sure you are alright? You took care for so many puppies." Anita speaks with concern as she knows Nanny had been maintaining the place well.
"I am alright Anita. I am still able for tomorrow as your cook and housekeeper. I'm going to miss all the little ones while I'm on vacation. They're all so adorable and tender that it feels like medicine for the heart!" Nanny gazes at the puppies with a cheerful smile as she's being fond of them. "And yet I wonder why you don't feel tired at all." Roger's words that we made them to chuckle and so they eat afterwards. "We have everything to thank you Nanny." Anita expresses her gratitude to which Nanny responds by saying her thanks towards Anita and her husband.
Everyone inside the house have their hopes restored within them, being calm in this relaxing night. Pongo and Perdita meanwhile are having their moments romatically with each other in love. "Oh Pongo, I was so worried for you." she nuzzles the top of her head to Pongo's jaw. "But now I'm here Perdy. Thank you for taking care of the children, I cannot think of anything else without you on their lives. Why, I have not just a beautiful mate, but also have a mate that carries a beautiful attitude."
"Oh Pongo." Both of them smiled sweetly with Pongo holding her paws with the back of his paws. "I always love you Perdy my darling." Perdita after Pongo expresses his affection to her, also returned the favor by expressing her love for him whilst rubbing his jaw with her head. "I'm glad that at least we are no longer bothered by that evil, ugly, monster…" Perdita speaks with her face loathing at a certain human being that almost killed her children.
"Cruella de Vil!" complains a repairman approaching her, looking deprived of energy. "We've worked tirelessly for days to fix your car back to its original look."
"Then faster you IDIOT! I need my burgundy-red custom touring car NOW!" speaks Cruella de Vil standing on a street looking mad at him, feeling impatient and frustrated at the progress of her car's repair. "But madam!" speaks another approaching repairman. "WHAT?" she spoke loudly. "It is almost-"
"WHAT ALMOST?" She cuts him speaking. "Almost fully repaired, you just need to wait only a few minutes."
"Then faster, IDIOTS! Or else…" she threatens both repairmen with one of them wiping his forehead with a white hankerchief to finish repairing the car to which the repairmen respond in agreement, both already feeling fatigued but still pursue to finish repairing her car. Only a few seconds later, another repairman rush to tell her that her car is fully repaired and rebuilt. "Then WHERE'S my car? I need it NOW!"
Suddenly her car appears from the repair garage and after moving, parks with the car door in front of her being driven by a driving instructor wearing a vest, shirt and jeans in color blue like the sky. His face has a moustache shaved to look like the English type and his haircut being the Side Fringe, the hair's color being yellow. He turns his head left and looks towards her, speaking and gesturing like an entertainer whilst being formal like a businessman. "Good day to you, madam! Driving Instructor John Carriage here but just call me Carriage or Car! Would you like me to teach you how to drive, for to me it seems that you had been running in places, I-I mean driving in places!"
"Out of my way YOU FOOL!" Cruella drags John Carriage with her hands latching into his shoulders out of her car and then sits on the car seat to drive. The driving instructor asks if she really needs his help on learning how to drive properly. "None of your business, IMBECILE! And here's your WRETCHED cash!" she speaks with ungratefulness then drops a bag filled with a large quantity of money on the floor . Afterwards she uses her car's key to activate the car and then proceed to drive whilst the driver instructor sighs in relief.
"Just who does that woman think she is? Oh well, looks like my client wouldn't be glad to hear about this. Everyone, you can now take your rests from that what do they call her... ah yes, that Devil-woman, a witch, or whatever." he shakes his head from side to side in dislike of Cruella whilst all the repairmen obey him, signifying his position in his own car company.
Whilst she's driving on a London highway, she comes across a traffic light glowing in red. Impatient at the situation, she drives past the traffic lights not noticing a traffic warden who's on guard even though it's night. Unfortunately due to her recklessness, she sideswiped a horse trailer with her car into a bus filled with aged people as so the situation described by the traffic warden. After paying the appropriate fine of up to 5,000 pounds for the damage, she proceeds to drive to her destination.
Upon arriving, Cruella mutters whilst parking her car in front of Mr. Fitzweil's fur shop, going out, closing its door and then approaching the shop. "Rrrrgggh! That WRETCHED traffic policeman, how DARE he? Doesn't he know who I am?! And all because of some SILLY nonsense about sideswiping a horse trailer into a busload of old-age pensioners. What ELSE was I supposed to do, wait for the traffic light to change?! There weren't even casualties! Just a few bumps and bruises. That should count for SOMETHING!"
She then opens the doorknob of the shop to buy an ermine stole but after she opens the door speedily, it paused and then she felt the door being pushed against her. "This is Cruella De Vil! Now please, let me in!" she speaks whilst struggling to open the door completely with the strength of her own body. "I can't do that Miss de Vil!" Mr. Fitzweil who is also struggling to close the door speaks against her will. "But please, something, anything! Just take my credit!"
"You know very well that the terms of your probation don't allow me to sell you anymore furs!" the furrier pushes the door with the left side of his body and then locks the door. "Not even a stole, a muff, a pair of mittens?" Cruella asks as she sticks her body into the door, her hands above and sliding down. "No."
"One mitten?" she pursues to press on but the furrier screams "NO!" and then dragging the sign labeled "CLOSED" printed on paper up from the door and covering its window. She sobs without tears and walks back slowly towards her car, opening the right side of the door and then closing after entering.
"Could things possibly be anymore worse?" she asks herself in a melancholic voice whilst activating the car with her key. Suddenly the radio plays Roger's hit song "Cruella de Vil". She's surprised to hear it briefly but then her expression turns to hate and then kicks the car's radio in an attempt to turn it off whilst saying "SHUT UP, SHUT UP, STOP IT!". After kicking the radio with her with the back of her feet for five times, the radio falls off with its wire from the back holding it.
"The NERVE of that discount Debussy, slandering my name throughout London and with a SONG, no less! All over something so piddlingly insignificant as a few missing puppies. Why, I didn't even get a COAT out of it! Well, if I never see Anita or Roger again, I'll be FAR better for it. There's only one sort of company I need." after muttering again, she proceeds to drive to the unknown place for the company she refers to.
Back at the residence inside Roger's house, Lucky races against his brother Patch to reach the basket, specifically to rest at the basket's coziest part. The theme of Kanine Krunchies can be heard faintly outside of the kitchen as the puppies ask their mother in curiosity about the food in the advertisement. Patch however was faster than Lucky and because of his speed; he reaches his most desired part of the basket, claiming it as his first before Lucky can claim it.
"Hey! That was meant for me Patch!" Lucky whilst huffing and puffing and climbing the basket attempts to claim the cozy part of the basket as his which has lead to another argument. "But I got here first!" Patch speaks loudly whilst he lies on his back and feeling the thick blanket and the warmth it preserves, affirming his stance as Lucky affirms his stance also. "Mine!" Lucky claims with Patch saying the same word in a back-and-forth banter. What they didn't notice is their father observing them from the kitchen door and approaches them afterwards.
"Hey boys, what's happening in here?" their father Pongo asks them both, with Patch telling the whole story however Lucky responds, telling his father that his brother made that up and that it's his. "Alright, and to whom does the cozy part of the basket belong to?" leading to Patch telling him first that he claims the area but Lucky retorts back, claiming it as his which continues the banter until Lucky sticks his tongue out.
"Lucky, I already know what happened. Patch came first in this warm part of the basket with no doubt. Why did you lie?" After Pongo speaks honestly, Patch then speaks afterwards. "See? What did I tell ya?" Patch sticks his tongue out against Lucky who is lying on his stomach, his eyes looking downward and feeling guilty. "I just want to sleep cozy on that dad." Lucky speaks whilst avoiding eye contact to his father.
"Lucky, you know lying is bad because it destroys trust." Though Pongo is playful and always relaxed, he looks at him with seriousness and then looks at Patch. "And Patch, you shouldn't have stuck your tongue out, that isn't how you treat your brother. You can sleep in there tomorrow Lucky, if that's alright with Patch. Now, what do you both say to each other?"
"Hiya Lucky, I'm sorry. I kinda forgot our promise." Patch chuckles as he remembers the promise they made earlier that day. "Yeah Patch, I'm sorry too." Both of them chuckle and give each other hugs on their necks briefly, with both of them nibbling each other's ears. Patch stands on his paws then he and Lucky hop together from side to side as a gesture of "patching up", their eyes fixated on each other, their smiles evident and their tails wagging briefly whilst Pongo sits down and chuckles in amusement of his sons.
"Thanks dad! I guess ya made us apologize faster 'cause if it's just me and Lucky here, we'd be like enemies for a day and just forgive each other the next day like nothing happened!" him and Lucky look at each other then giggle with Pongo joining. "Yeah dad, you made us apologize very fast when you rolled into the soot after me and Patch argued." the three of them chuckle at the reminiscence of the memories.
"Well at least I'm glad to know something about my sons. Anyways, thank you for being my watchdog over your fellow puppies Patch. You did a good job son!" Pongo wraps his paw around Patch in appreciation. "Thank ya dad!" he says as he nuzzles his paws. "So boys, what's the promise that I heard earlier? Have I covered my ears or…" he asks with curiousity.
"Well dad, we promised that while he's gone, I will be the new leader. I mean Patch kinda likes calling it as being a leader than being a watchdog." Pongo asks his son to know if he knows how to be a watchdog. "I see Lucky, and did he tell you what it means to be a "leader" by any chance?"
"Yeah he did just like how you taught him: be responsible of what I do, be smart, and be vigilant or watchful and not just helping my brothers and sisters." After Lucky tells what he knows, his father Pongo wonders in awe for him. "Oh Lucky you little rascal." he puts his paw on Lucky and shakes his head softly, making Lucky to chuckle and then moving his paw back to the floor.
"I can see that you're quite confident with your decision son." he looks and speaks at Patch with a smile after admiring Lucky. "Very well, since you'll be away because my pets got a schedule for you tomorrow, I hope that you're sure of choosing Lucky here to be in charge for tomorrow or in the future when you're not available. And as for you Lucky, don't worry about being alone; you have your mother to guide you."
"And our ninety-nine brothers and sisters too Lucky!" Patch exclaims loudly and speaking softly afterwards. "But, you still need to be like a leader and watch over them." The three of them chuckle until their biological siblings come inside the kitchen along with their mother to rest at their basket, thus interrupting their inward laughing altogether whilst looking at the rest of their family coming inside due to the loudness made by the puppies. Slowly, one by one they lie down to take rest with all of them having their own sleeping position along with the other puppies that lied down on the kitchen floor while huddled with their fellow puppies.
"Children, bedtime now and remember, don't steal and eat any food in the kitchen because stealing means to take someone's thing without permission or consent. It is bad so don't do that alright children?" the puppies after that agree on her advice with some of them nodding and some preparing to lie down. The kitchen suddenly becomes crowded but nevertheless, Nanny comes to check on the puppies. Upon looking at them, she smiles wholeheartedly then proceeds to check on the basket where Pongo and Perdita's fifteen puppies sleep.
"I love you all children, goodnight!" she speaks her concern to the puppies as so does Pongo to which the puppies respond by saying goodnight to their parents. On the basket, the litter proceeds to sleep with their eyes close. All of them become sound asleep until every puppy in the house close their eyes as the night give its calm, except for Patch and Lucky who kept observing though both of them yawn due to being tired.
"There now, close your little eyes Patch and go to sleep." Patch afterwards closes his eyes to sleep and so Nanny closes the curtains from both sides which hide the basket. She then turns the lights off in the kitchen and walks out the kitchen to turn off the other light sources. "Psst, hey everyone." whispers one puppy, making Penny to question who catched their attention. "It's me Pepper. You know my brothers and sisters, we all know that Cruella's a really bad monster right?"
"Yes, why's that Pepper?" asks Rolly. "Well we also love Kanine Krunchies right?" Pepper's question led to all of the puppies in the basket to say yes. "You know children that I can here you from here." speaks Pongo from the outside, being the sound muffled because of the curtains.
"Oops, so I was just thinking that maybe Cruella isn't a really bad monster after all." Pepper's conflicting opinion intrigues his siblings to question his opinion as their view on Cruella is that she's a devil-woman in their eyes. "I can still hear you kids." they hear their father speak which causes their voices to cease from talking.
"Well we all love eating Kanine Krunchies but we never realized it's been controlling and making us to eat lots of it every day. I'm glad Cruella didn't feed us that when we're there, we were all good until we came home. Look at us now, we're all addicted to Kanine Krunchies again because we ate lots of it earlier. Why can't we stop eating that horrible food?" Pepper speaks in a sarcastic tone, sounding unhappy about eating Kanine Krunchies to being joyous and then speaking with sorrow in satire again. Afterwards all of them laughed and giggled at the joke Pepper said.
"Kids, can you all please sleep now because I can still hear your voices." Pongo speaks sternly to which causes total silence in the basket. "Well good night everyone." Pepper yawns, being tired as well as his siblings who wish each other a good night. Outside, Pongo and Perdita chuckle together at their children's conversation since the whisper they've been telling to each other was loud. "Oh Pongo, how I wish that our lives shall continue like this, how I really wish that devil-woman will never appear once more."
"Well dear, at least she's never coming back again. Let's go to sleep Perdy, we need to renew the strength we lost today. I love you my darling." After Pongo and Perdita show their affection towards each other through words, they walked towards the kitchen door and slept near it so that they'll be able to protect all their children sleeping. Pongo's head is rest upon the floor whilst Perdita rests her head upon Pongo's head. They both close their eyes and thus the night's calm atmosphere and its darkness gave relaxation among the people and the dogs inside until a new day will begin.
