Episode 3
(Narration.)
"Pierce hates narration for no reason cliché. If you are going to bitch about this all the time, you could at least offer an alternative as to how the game would give important information to the players." One sin added.
(There is no way to drop a pick like that. Trust me, I've tried.)
"This is done this way to make the scene more dramatic. When will you understand these games do not have to adhere to reality and some things are done for the benefit of the audience to make them more compelling?" one sin added.
(Game shows you three people who are not the culprit standing over the body-which never happens in the case-just to make fun of how they showed you the culprit for the last two cases.)
"This is called a red herring. It is required to keep the players in suspense. It's clever writing required for anyone who wants to do a good job in mystery writing. And if you didn't know about that…I can't say I'm surprised." One sin added.
("We just killed our teacher" face.)
"First: those are the looks anyone would have seeing that sight, whether they killed them or not. And second: how do you know what that would look like? I am really curious. Should I call 911? Or the FBI?" one sin added.
(School festivals.)
"Why is that a sin? Maybe it's a thing in Japan and it's not even a problem with the case. And that's hypocritical since American schools have valentine's day dances, proms and even medieval dinners. It's the same thing." One sin added.
(Aristotle Means is a character. Which implies that somebody approved this guy's character design. I'm guessing that person was blind.)
"No, that person was very clever, because they got the meaning behind his design. He is shown all white to signify how he appears a caring, benevolent teacher on the outside, but inside he is dark and corrupt. This is the very basis of the dark age of the law, how the system seems to be doing okay on the surface, but deep down it is rotten. And I think creating Aristotle Means, a person who embodies everything Phoenix was afraid of for the legal system was a great idea." One sin added.
(The murder weapon currently stuck in Courte's body is also being held by professor means, giving me unwanted flashbacks to the MASON system.)
"Yet another scene manipulation. Professor Means is not holding the staff when we talk to him. Both his hands are empty. What I think happened here is you were running out of things to sin, so you decided to make up a lie and sin the game for it, thinking nobody would bother to check a walkthrough and so they wouldn't notice. Guess what: I noticed!" five sins added.
(Lawyer is only synonymous with defense attorney in this universe. That must really annoy prosecutors.)
"That's how it goes in real life, actually. Both defense attorneys and prosecutors are lawyers, but people tend to only refer to defense attorneys as such. I've never heard anyone call a prosecutor that, especially when murder trials are involved, since those prosecutors are working for the DA." One sin added.
(Law school-high school has a teacher that gives out gold stars.)
"Pierce fails at getting the joke again. This was done to make Means seems innocent and well-meaning to keep his true nature hidden, so it serves a double purpose." One sin added.
(You want a newly reinstated attorney who got their badge back by changing then cheating the system to lecture your students?)
"This is also the guy that lasted years with only one defeat in his record. And don't say it's not a big deal, in Japan defense attorneys almost never won. This also the guy that took down some of the greatest prosecutors ever, took down the chief of police and, yes, did change the system. So…yeah, they would want him to talk to the students." One sin added.
(Teachers can be late to class, but students can't. I don't care if it's true in real life, I'm sinning it.)
"Cool. But what is the sin? What exactly are you sinning? The game for being realistic or the school system for being unfair? Because both of those things are stupid. So…guess how many sins you are getting. Exactly." Two sins added.
(There's a proper way to smack the podium? But every lawyer in this game does it differently, with the exception of Mia, Phoenix and Apollo who all do it the same way. Was almost everybody taught wrong? Why is this a rule?)
"Since Phoenix is giving the lecture here, I imagine his own way will be considered the proper one. And it is the best one." One sin added.
(Same goes for arm angles when shouting Objection. Some lawyers don't even point, goddammit it!)
"That means they weren't taught properly. If you don't point like Phoenix when yelling objection, you will not get anywhere." One sin added.
(The famous prosecutor in this case is not Edgeworth. Thanks for the tease, Capcom.)
"Considering he makes his grand return in the finale case, it would seem a lot less important if he also appeared here." One sin added.
"Also, not removing any sins for Klavier being back." One sin added.
[(Juniper appears) Juniper is allowed to wear a sunflower with her school uniform. Is it because she keeps her inhaler inside it?]
"Pierce answers her own question cliché." One sin added.
"Also, it's in her hair. Her hair isn't part of her school uniform, you know." One sin added.
(Also, when I told Capcom I wanted to see a female character in an anime school uniform, that's not what I meant.)
"Be careful what you wish for because your wish may come true." One sin added.
(And once again, Capcom makes all their female characters either dead or underage. Here are all the sins I would have given were that not the case.)
"What do you mean once again? We have seen adult female characters in every game so far. This is the first time this ever happens, and that's because this is actually a high school. And if this is a reference to another game series made by Capcom, you should be more clear about it." One sin added.
"Also, you give five sins for making all female characters dead of underage…but then you admit if that were not the case…you would have given exactly as many sins. I think you probably borked your script and wrote "Given" when you meant "removed." Either way, that's a sin." One sin added.
(Athena has been back from Europe for six months. How come she never even attempted to find Juniper until chance reunited them. It's not like she's been busy, most of the time. Why is this only coming up now?)
"Athena has been away from the country for seven years. It isn't mentioned she and Juniper kept in touch in this time, so Athena probably didn't know about her current place of residence or her admission into Themis legal academy. So that's why. You'd be surprised at how easy it is to fall out of touch with people." One sin added.
[(Outside at the stage) According to this banner, the school has been open since 1960, despite the fact that such schools don't even exist today. This is a really stupid reason to give a sin, so…half a sin.]
"Pierce is self-aware. No, really. That's your issue here? That a made-up school has been open since 1960? You get this school does not exist in real life…and still sin it based on real-life logic?" one sin added.
(We later learn this stage will be used in the guitar's serenade, which leads to the question of the court-themed décor. If they're going with that, why couldn't they have sung guilty love or my boyfriend is the prosecution's witness or any of the court themed songs?)
"Because guitar's serenade is one of their best songs. And since Juniper will be singing, I imagine she wouldn't be good for a rocking song." One sin added.
[(Upon finding the body) Phoenix is about to suggest something illegal. After all the shit in the last game, old habits prove to die hard.]
"It's not exactly illegal. As long as they leave everything exactly like they found it, it doesn't count as obstruction. They will tiptoe alongside the line, but not go over it. There's a difference." One sin added.
(Can't look at a girl's diary cliché.)
"So you would read someone's diary without a second thought, even if they were dead? I have said this before and I will keep saying it: Pierce would be terrible at keeping secrets!" one sin added.
(Of the five things listed in this planner, two involve meeting with a student, referring to it as important and calling student by first name. Despite the implication, game does not include a student-teacher relationship. Because that would have been interesting.)
"Are you sure it would have been interesting? Because it would make professor Courte feel unethical and unfit for being a teacher and make it less easy for her death to leave an impact on us. Really, those relationships are never interesting. They may seem innocent, but the implications can be grave." One sin added.
(I'm so confused. I thought when they examine something and put it in the court record, that's the same as picking it up.)
"No, it's not. They just remember it and possibly make a note about it. Sure, that makes you wonder how they present it later, but that is where suspension of disbelief comes in. The point is: they have not tampered with the crime scene. Stop trying to slander their name!" one sin added.
(In reference to Courte's body) That blood is neither dry not moving. They can animate movement if they wanted to, and they already have an M-rating so what was there to lose-other than believability-by not showing blood at all?]
"Blood is seen on her shirt around her stab wound. The reason there is not more is because the murder weapon has acted as a plug to the wound. And it would be less believable if the blood was still moving. Courte was killed a long time ago. The blood has definitely congealed by now." One sin added.
[(Apollo shows up) Hero reports what everyone already knows cliché.]
"Apollo doesn't know they know. From his point of view, he is the first to find out and he needs to find them and let them know. He is acting like any human being would." One sin added.
(Fictional murder matches real murder cliché. I guess professor Means has seen basic instinct.)
"Or maybe that movie trope has existed far longer than that film. Since when has that movie had permanent dibs on this trope?" one sin added
Also, Pierce makes a pop culture reference that isn't a sin of the game cliché." one sin added.
(Phoenix you discovered the body, too. Why don't you have to talk to the police? In this game whoever discovers a body is the police's first suspect. You better not be the defendant of this case, goddammit it!)
"Pierce yells at the screen cliché." One sin added.
(Athena is surprised at Juniper's change over seven years despite having changed more so herself.)
"Athena saw her mother being killed, tried to…put her back together,-gah-saw her friend sentenced to death for it and moved oversees while trying to repress her memories. So she had a reason to change. Juniper used to be really shy and anti-social, so Athena wonders how she managed to become so open and independent to the point where she is president of the school council." One sin added
(Wait. They teach students how to be judges? I thought our judges were androids. Well, there goes my theory.)
"No way! This flawless, airtight theory was wrong?! My world was just shattered!" one sin added.
(Hugh and Robin show up) Two characters that aren't in love with Juniper act like they are in love with Juniper.]
"Guess Pierce hasn't heard about platonic love. Because that's all there is so see here. There is no love triangle. It's played for a joke, but never followed through with." One sin added.
(Also, Juniper plays the defendant. I wonder who our real defendant is going to be?)
"We already knew it would be like this after the first case. Sure, this may be the fault of the mixed timeline, but still. And since the murder happens according to the script, it makes sense the defendant would be the same person." One sin added.
(Robing likes to shout.) Three lawyers with chords of steel?! That's it. All gallery members and judges will be provided with earplugs upon entering the courtroom.]
"Pierce fails to understand humor cliché. Which is ironic since she makes a joke of her own right here." One sin added.
"Also, sins a game for her joke for no apparent reason." One sin added.
(An entire high school can only find one girl who wants to sing with Klavier Gavin, a famous rockstar? I'm calling serious bullshit on this.)
"So you think every girl would be willing to get on ta stage next to their idol and sing in front of an entire crowd? There is a little thing called stage fright. Juniper doing it is character development for her considering how shy she is shown as being, so it serves a purpose." One sin added.
(Apollo talks about Clay.) Foreshadowing.]
"Pierce hates foreshadowing for no reason cliché." One sin added.
(Discord sounds like a bad quality speaker.)
"I have read this five times…and I still don't get what the joke is. Really, is there even an actual point here? Athena has natural good hearing and can tell when people's voices are unsure about something, which is why she studied psychology. I don't see the problem." one sin added.
(Ace attorney outsmarts basic instinct when confronted with the fictional murder predicts real murder by actually arresting the author. Unfortunately for the police, prosecutor Blackquill, and anyone playing, Juniper Woods is too young to flash her vagina during interrogations.)
"…O…kay…remember back in my Apollo justice fic when I said her line about Apollo being hard for Klavier takes the cake for the most disgusting sexual joke she has ever made? I take it back! This takes the fucking cake! I hope Pierce took a bath after writing it. I need a bath after reading it! I am not going to sin you for every time you make jokes like this because I'll end up throwing up. So here's a blanket sin for all of them." Fifteen sins added.
(Um…Athena…doesn't the client choose who defends them? You can announce she's yours all you want, that doesn't make it true.)
"Athena say this to show her fervent intention to defend Juniper. Juniper thought nobody would stand by her side and now that Athena shows she is willing to, she will choose her. Way to entirely miss the point of this scene." One sin added.
(Themis' logo looks exactly like the scale with fire from DGS. This is painful reminder that no international fan will ever see that game.)
"Seeing as both games have now been released in one collection as the Great ace attorney chronicles…the joke's on you! The epitome of it ain't over until the fat lady sings!" one sin added.
(Klavier returns) Klavier is back, bitches! Not for any plot related reasons, but he's here.]
"Acting like Klavier is not important in this case. He is not the main prosecutor because Blackquill is the main prosecutor of the game, and he has a major role in this one case since he faces Athena. But he acts like an assistant and help you out a lot." One sin added.
"Also, not removing sins for this return." Ten sins added.
(After being told he won't be the prosecutor of the case, Klavier decided reenacting the mock trial is the next best thing.)
"Yes…and that is important for the entire case. Klavier is important." One sin added.
"Also, still not removing sins for this return." Ten sins added.
[(Klavier with the trial script.) Casual thievery.]
"Pierce points out things on the screen cliché." One sin added.
(Judge Cykes in a jerk to the defense. Ironci, considering she's a defense attorney.)
"Yes. Because she is following a script. The judge is always a jerk to the defense. How will they solve the murder if they don't accurately follow the script?" one sin added.
(Awl is like an ice pick.) An ice pick for a murder weapon? This is basic instinct!]
"No!" one sin added.
[(Mock trial ends) And that's all the prosecuting Klavier Gavin does. Which is stupid. Blackquill may be awesome, but is there a reason we can't have a prosecutor who doesn't want to kill us?]
"Yes. This is the only case Athena handles in the whole game. You wanted Klavier to take over and throw away the best chance to develop the dynamic between Athena and Blackquill? You monster!" one sin added.
(Myriam's box want her to be held upside down.)
"Pierce point out things on the screen cliché." One sin added.
"Also, not removing sins for the metal gear solid references." twenty sins added
(There are only three approved places to punch this box from the inside.)
"Pierce points out things on the screen cliché. Again." One sin added.
"Also, still not removing sins for the metal gear solid references." Twenty sins added.
(Hugh's description of himself shirtless did not make it into the final version of the game. I need you shirtless to solve this case, goddammit it!)
"did you really, though?" one sin added.
"Also, Pierce yells at the screen cliché."
(Hugh admits to seeing the body.) Wait, so Phoenix and Athena weren't the first on the scene? Why didn't you call the police dude?]
"Ever heard of something called fear? I don't mean the Pixar character. I mean the emotion. The guy was in a panic!" one sin added.
[(Robin's "We had a dream" line.) Themis trio confirmed to be the second Yatagarasu.]
"Okay…and how is that a sin?" one sin added.
(Love triangle parody is set up like an actual love triangle.)
"So you get the joke...and still sin it. Huh…" one sin added.
(Athena's "Butterflies have butterflies" line.) Butterfly-ception.]
"Furthering the misconception of what the word inception means." One sin added.
[(Athena's thoughts on Means.) I wish he would shut up too, actually. Unfortunately, he is going to be a character for the rest of the case.]
"It will a be worth it when we shatter his lies, and his teeth, and send him to the clink. For normal people at least." One sin added.
[(The line about lawyers smiling.) That was actually Mia's thing, but Phoenix inherited her philosophy when she died in your current workplace. Shame you two haven't met her yet.]
"I wasn't Mia's philosophy to begin with. She leant it from Diego, she taught it to Phoenix and he is teaching it to Apollo and Athena. That's how mentor-mentee relationships works." One sin added.
(Sure, leave the semi-newbie in charge of the newbie. I appreciate the lack of mentor ex Machina. But this can't possibly end well.)
"Pierce sins something she likes cliché." One sin added.
"Also, again, it ain't over until the fat lady sings." One sin added.
(First, Blackquill makes the judge deliver the opening statement. Now he expects the guy to call witnesses? He's getting steadily lazier as the game progresses.)
(The guy is a few months away from execution. He is really done with this shit." One sin added.
[(Fulbright takes the stand with "My friend Justice…) You and Justice are friends? But this is the second time you've met.]
"And Fulbright is shown as being really friendly and open to people. So...this is in-character." One sin added.
[(Taka delivers the autopsy report.) Birds now has a real use in the courtroom. Because you know, walking over and handing evidence to them is too much work.]
"But would it be as badass?" one sin added.
(Why did Robin and Hugh need dressing rooms? We later see a photo of them. They're still wearing the same clothes as normal.)
"Maybe those are their mock trial clothes and they were wearing different clothes before. How about that?" one sin added.
(What?! No! You can't raise Fulbright's salary! After watching Gumshoe's pay get cut throughout the first three games, I refuse to believe a convicted murderer is more generous than prosecutors Edgeworth, von Karma and Godot combined.)
"The game just showed you he is, so…your opinion is irrelevant." One sin added.
"Also, calling Blackquill a murderer." Three sins added.
[(Blackquill discusses a thief in prison.) Was that a Kay Faraday reference? How dare you let yourself get caught? I wanted you to cameo goddammit it!]
"It's not Kay! Don't you dare talk shit about our girl!" one sin added.
(Judge course uniforms are much more interesting on the lower half. Unfortunately for us, we almost never see it.)
"No, we are not going to gloss over the fact this girl is still advocating for the game to be more sexual in nature." One sin added
[(Myriam's nickname for Athena) Pawn of Woods. It's what happens when a chess piece and playing card do the deed.]
"Whatever the fuck that was." One sin added.
(Ooh, he just called Athena a Canary. That's almost as offensive as canucklehead.)
"If he called her a bitch, a bimbo or anything related, it would be considered offensive and not get a single laugh. That will get the player to laugh. You don't know shit about humor.." One sin added.
(Also, Apollo is way to calm to be on the defense bench right now. He should get an energy drink during the next recess, fray his nerves up a bit.)
"Well, Athena is boiling as the leading attorney here. Someone has to stay calm to keep the defense team from falling apart." One sin added.
(Blackquill admits he knows how to stage a crime scene.) Foreshadowing.]
"Pierce hates foreshadowing for no reason cliché." One sin added.
(Oh, sure, we all might want to take a million pictures of Athena, but you actually did it, Myriam. And that is a sin.)
"Pierce yells at the screen cliché." One sin added.
(How can Myriam keep that stuff in her box? Does she have a bunch of bags and coat hooks built in there somewhere?)
"Pierce continues to take a game with two-day trials, spirit channeling and courts that allow whips, hawks, animals and drones at face value." One sin added.
"Also, she has yet to remove even half a sin for the metal gear solid references. No, I am not letting that go." Twenty sins added.
(Um, Blackquill? A blade's sharpness is not determined by its wielder's skill level. The defense calls your attention to exhibit A: my scar marks left over a free fencing lesson I took. It didn't end well.)
"The fact you miss the analogy between the sword and the human mind, the sharpness of which is determined by its user's skill, is sinful. But the mental image of you being terrible at fencing is hilarious." So I do nothing.
(Threatening to kill my mentor's daughter is not allowed. Lucky for me, attacking her with a hawk, showing my swordsmanship inches from her face and constantly insulting her maturity are perfectly acceptable substitutes.)
"She never gets hurt, does she? You fail to realize when Blackquill is being serious and when he's just trying to make a point." One sin added.
(Apollo steals his arguments from turnabout samurai, giving further credence to my theory he plays old Phoenix Wright games before coming here.)
"First, whose arguments? I suppose you mean Phoenix's, but you just say his next to Apollo's name with no reference to Phoenix, making it seem like you mean Apollo himself. I know this may be a nitpick, but that's the same thing you do. Gotta fight fire with fire." One sin added.
"Also, are you sinning the fact a protégé is picking up on his mentor's skills and tactics?" One sin added.
[(Myriam's nickname for Apollo.) Boy wonder.]
"You just said what the game itself said and treated it as a sin. What the hell, sis?!" one sin added.
(Why does Myriam need two protractors?)
"Maybe to have a replacement in case one breaks. Now…did that affect the case in any way? No? Alright then." One sin added.
(Where did Taka go? We saw him fly, but he isn't with Athena, Blackquill or the judge. Juniper maybe?)
"Or he just went back to his nest. Or wherever he stays when we don't need him." One sin added.
(How did no one notice Robin's hand glowing during the mock trial?)
"Even if they did, what's to say they would pay any attention to it? I think they were more interested in the trial itself. Normal people don't stick to every random detail in their life, because it's filled with those." one sin added.
(Picture of Robin over Courte's body.) You know, for a non-culprit, both Robin and Hugh get a lot of pictures depicting them as the killer. Only to remind us of what we missed out on.)
"So…you would have preferred it if they were the killer? If that's the case, you would want to make the most obvious person the killer. The exact opposite of a red herring. And that means…Pierce would suck as mystery writing." One sin added.
(Okay, where is all that pottery coming from?)
"Hyperspace. Good luck naming one game that hasn't used it." One sin added.
(I'm a dude! I'm into braces, not dresses!) I don't know any guys into braces. This comparison makes no sense.]
"I actually know quite a few men who like wearing braces. And they are pulling them off. So…" one sin added.
[(I've never met a girl who shouts like a maniac all the time.) Didn't you go to a Gavviner's concert last game? How did you not see any of this?]
"I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be a girl screaming like Robin all the time, even in a rock concert." One sin added.
(Why does Robin choose this moment to reveal she's a girl? Crap! Some perverted, crazy person might actually attempt to check. Ah, fuck it. If I'm going out, I'm going out in style.)
"I know I gave a blanket sin for all cringey sexual jokes, but I wrote this specific one because I wanted you to share a cringey moment with me. Did the cringe reach all the way to the bone? Good. Moving on." One sin added.
(Also, there is no way she kept this secret up to senior year. Two words: locker room.)
"I have been there and I can assure you for one thing: most people in there will want to get out as fast as possible and they will worry less about you and more about themselves." One sin added.
(My dream job differs from my parents' plan for me cliché.)
"A cliché is something that has been used too much to the point where it has lost its original meaning. Aside from the irony that your usage of the word cliché has become a cliché in and of itself, this is not a cliché. Because this is something that happens all the time in real life with serious ramifications. Children being forced into a life they don't want by their parents due to being emotionally or financially dependent on them is very usual and causes them a lot of problems in later life." One sin added.
(Robin pulls out a shoe.) To be honest, this is how all men perceive women. Her earlier personality was how all women perceive men.]
"Okay…thanks for explaining what is happening on screen. Mind telling us why that is a sin? Because I see nothing worth discussing." One sin added.
[(Hugh takes the stand) Meditating in an archery stance, huh? Sounds dangerous.]
"Where is the archery here? He doesn't bring the bow until the next day. You wouldn't happen to be manipulating a scene again, would you?" One sin added.
(No schools is empty ten minutes after the final bell.)
"Say who? You?! You didn't go to school! Let me tell you: students run the hell outta there after the final bell. And so do the teachers when they don't have any work left to do." One sin added.
(Secret private chats with teacher aren't usually this innocent. Or this boring.)
"Unless the teacher is a good one. Seriously, why do all the teacher who are close with students need to get sexual with them?" One sin added.
[(Photo of Juniper and Courte.) Cool twist, but…why does that photo even exist? Who is taking it? Can we declare that person a suspect? No? Okay then. Penalty.]
"Asks a bunch of random, irrelevant questions…and sins them game for not bothering to answer them. And if did, she would sin it for wasting time. In other words, hypocrisy." One sin added.
[(Blackquill's person you can save speech.) Athena, Apollo and Blackquill are locked in a fierce competition for who can foreshadow most finale events.]
"What does Apollo have to talk with this? Apollo is out of the loop. He can't foreshadow what he doesn't know." One sin added.
"Also, Pierce hates foreshadowing for no reason." One sin added.
(Hugh reveals his bow and arrow in the courtroom.) Whoa, he just outbadassed Blackquill. For five seconds anyway.)
"Pierce sins something she likes cliché." One sin added.
(No, I'm Spartacus. They are so lucky this did not end up like the source material.)
"Pierce takes a pop culture reference that isn't a sin of the game cliché." One sin added.
(At the detention center) Means still exists.]
"So does your urge to pad your sin count." One sin added.
(Aristotle did not come up with that philosophy. Machiavelli did. Means should stop pretending to he knows philosophy and admit he is a die-hard basic instinct fan already.)
"Still thinks the game developers from Japan cared about that movie when making this game. Shows how much you know." One sin added.
(The dark age of the law has been in place for eight years according to this game. How is Themis just getting around to adapting?)
"Because corruption takes time to spread. Really, did you expect the changes to occur within a fortnight? Those things are so dangerous exactly because they happen slowly. They happen so slowly you don't notice them until it's too late." One sin added.
(We later discover the statue Phoenix was never completed. However, the gold statue of him in the Layton crossover more than makes up for this insult.)
(We interrupt your regularly scheduled murder mystery to bring you…puzzles. And no, this isn't the Layton crossover.)
"Pierce makes two references to a future game that aren't a sin of the game cliché. The same game nonetheless." two sins added.
(Athena shouting at Fulbright.) Did Athena just have a moment with the guy who killer her mother? I think Athena just had a moment with the guy who killed her mother.]
"Did Pierce just point something out on the screen? I think Pierce just pointed something out on the screen." One sin added.
(Myriam's new box advertises crime scene cleaner. Somewhere in this world, businesses like this are allowed to exist and make enough profit to continue existing. This is a dystopian future.)
"Pierce doesn't know crime scene cleanup is an actual job." One sin added.
[(That's one abused laptop.) Apollo would great at cinemasins.]
"Why? Because he is really good at pointing out what everyone with eyes can see? You know….that does actually fit with cinemasins." one sin added.
(What could Hugh possibly be busy with? They cancelled classes and he is no on construction duty if the clothes ae anything to go by.)
"Maybe he has a private matter to deal with? Just sayin'. People have other things to do other than school or work." One sin added.
(Fulbright is way too helpful to be a detective at a crime scene. I get he's faking…)
"I'm gonna stop you right there. You answered yourself. The phantom is trying to earn the lawyers' trust so that they won't suspect him when he commits his own crimes and frames others for them. And he's doing a damn good job at it. Even upon replaying the game while knowing the plot twist, you can still fall for his performance." One sin added.
(They videotaped the mock trial? Why?)
"Maybe they will make copies and give them to the students when they graduate so they can watch them and remember about their days there when they get old? Have you seriously never gone to school? Every time I did a play in school, it got recorded and we got copies of it." One sin added.
(Wait, the mock trial was a grade? How?! There are only three students participating. Does everyone else write a report? Is it a participation grade?)
"Maybe to both of your answers. Really, grading the students for being present is a great way of making sure none of them will ditch school during that." One sin added.
(I thought juniper was also the judge of this trial. If so…who's that in the judge's seat?)
"The…actual judge? Juniper clearly stated she was the defendant. How could she be the judge at the same time? Someone else had to do it! If you can't even figure that much out on you own…" one sin added.
(Juniper's the snitch) You mean she can fly really fats and win me a quidditch game? Sweet!]
"Pierce makes a pop culture reference that's isn't a sin of th game cliché." One sin added.
(In the defendant lobby.) After discovering he wouldn't be prosecuting this case, Klavier gets his revenge by becoming a defense assistant.]
"And unappreciated he went. Even though his role was great." One sin added.
(People can become lawyers at thirteen, but have to wait until they're twenty to operate a crane? The fuck?!)
"How exactly are those two things comparable? Being a lawyer is mainly mentally exhausting and Franziska was a prodigy. Operating a crane is psychically and mentally exhausting, can kill people with the slightest error and needs exams and permits. And Hugh is not a prodigy. You have no case here." One sin added.
(In this universe, the word foolish is almost as offensive as canary. However, both pale before the ultimate insult, uttered only once by a young demonic Edgeworth…canucklehead.)
"Sinning this." One sin added.
(Hugh got the bow and arrow inside the courtroom twice? Are there no rules on what can and can't be brought here?)
"No." one sin added.
(Is it bad that I just saw the Themis banner hanging in the courtroom? Is our audience a bunch of Themis students? We can't hold classes today, so we're taking an impromptu filed trip! Take notes and watch as a convicted felon tries to put our class president away for killing our beloved teacher, instead of, you know, mourning her or something. I'm sure your parents all approved.)
"You do know law students have to observe trials at some point, right? They do mock trials, but they still need to see how actual courts work. And I think one of their classmates being the defendant may even be a complete coincidence. Maybe the field trip was organized in advance and since Juniper was the defendant here, they decided to do that. And why would the parents have a problem? Their children are being educated." One sin added.
(Blackquill named his sword evidence. And where does Taka keep flying to?)
"Still missing the obvious symbolism between the sharpness of the knife and the sharpness of the evidence. Also, Taka still has a nest here." One sin added.
[(Blood on the pottery) Are you telling me nobody on the police force bothered checking those bloodstains? I know Blackquill isn't allowed to investigate in person, but he's still getting blamed for this shit. And this a really dumb oversight. So…what's the deal? Is the phantom trying to make Blackquill lose all the time?]
"Maybe. The sole reason Edgeworth allowed Blackquill to keep prosecuting despite being on death row was to lure the phantom out. I suppose it would serve the phantom's interests to discredit his abilities." One sin added.
(Hugh's perfect crime.) Not this again. We already know you aren't Spartacus]
"Pierce makes a pop culture reference that isn't a sin of the game cliché." One sin added.
"She also yells at the screen cliché." One sin added
(Are you seriously telling me Juniper's mock trial lasted only thirty minutes?, ten of which were taken up by a speech? The verdict was about to be handed down when they got interrupted. The only case to end that quickly was the first turnabout and it was more of a tutorial than top tier writing. How did Juniper win exactly?)
"Who said they were going for top tier writing? One would think they would try to ease their students into the legal world by making their mock trials a bit easier. You would want to give the kids that have never experienced an actual crime a mock case of finale proportions? Pierce would be a lousy teacher." One sin added.
(Wait, are you telling me that testimony was actually useful? I thought they were just trying to get past their writer's block with an "All our writers are drunk" sequence.)
"Well, they were not. And you still sin it." One sin added.
(Blackquill's "surgeon overlooking symptoms reference") is this Meraktis or Miney?]
"Neither. Next question." One sin added.
(Means on the witness stand.)
"Which means we finally take him down. That's the best part!" one sin added.
[(Means' speech) Of all the people who were trying to sleep through this speech, how was the insomniac the one successful.]
"Sinning this scene." One sin added.
(What were the ten minutes of the recording for? Were the teachers using it to take attendance and give everyone their free grades?)
"Answering your own question cliché." One sin added.
(Means steals the 'I've hid incriminating testimony" and "Offering to be his scapegoat's lawyer" tricks from Kristoph Gavin. Naturally, it does not end well for him.)
"Pierce makes a reference to a different game that isn't a sin of this one cliché." One sin added.
(-Can I give him a Mohawk. - Sure, it's not like his design can get any worse.)
"Sinning this. Aristotle Means' design is based on ancient Greece. And that hair looks exactly like Aristotle's hair. So…there is a reason behind it." One sin added.
(Where is the chalk coming from? Or the board? Does he carry that around everywhere he goes or just to court?)
"Still taking ace attorney breakdowns at face value." one sin added.
[(Taka attacks Means) Bid does what every players wishes they could do. Why is this not a minigame?]
"Because it's not that type of game. Relish the fact that you can see it and stop bitching about everything!" one sin added.
(A grown man admits to having a bedtime of 9 PM.)
"And since there are grown people in real life who do this…what's the sin? Are you sinning people who like sleeping early?" one sin added.
[(You dare bring mere garbage to court?) What? It worked for Sebastian. If Debeste can do it, so can Athena.]
"Pierce makes a reference to a different game that is not a sin of this game cliché." One sin added.
(It would not have you disappoint you know who.) Wait. Athena's a death eater.]
"Pierce makes a pop…oh, I give up!" one sin added.
(Apollo gets the job everyone wants by binding Athena into the desired position. Not that I'm into that sort of thing.)
"Sounds like you are." Five sins added.
(Athena has some heavy praise for Phoenix. I guess she's like half the audience and didn't play Apollo justice before coming here.)
"Pierce makes a reference to a different game…oh, screw it!" one sin added.
(Now help me decide the professor's fate!) Did Athena just break the fourth wall?]
"No. You…do know she's talking go the actual audience right. I mean the ones watching the trial. Who do you think throws the chalk to the guy?" one sin added.
[(Trucy comes in) Yay, Trucy! And now the obligatory innuendo! Wait, what happened to the innuendo? Trucy, where are your panties?]
"Sins her with the panties…sins her without the panties…Piercetheveils, ladies and gentlemen. A bunch of lies and hypocrisy." One sin added.
(The school festival-guitar's serenade) Apollo, your love interest is dressed like your mother and you're giving her that look? I know you don't know, but that's still creepy!]
"B…but he doesn't know! You just said it! And who said he cares about the clothes! I know you only care about he outside, but most people care about what's beyond the surface! Apollo gives Juniper that look because he has a crush on her. Nothing else." One sin added.
