Chapter 7
Seeking Blood from a Stranger
"This is ridiculous! How can we be staving for blood? That's impossible!" Keesha shouts, "Yeah our bat tummies should be craving insects not the red stuff!" Jyoti added. I agreed with both of them as i breathed in and out slowly while still upside down and wrapped in my wings. Keesha was right this is ridiculous and i was really freakout in what was going to happen next. "We may be cursed for life, only feeding on blood and never return to our normal human sleves again!" i shout to the girls beginning to panic, "Get a grip Ralphie!" Keesha yells at me, "Cut it out you too! Let's all stay calm. We need to figure out how to reverse this spell but we cannot do it with you too fighting!" Jyoti says to us responsibly. Keesha and i went slient, "Now then we cannot hang here all night, we need to find away to turn oursleves back in to humans starting with investigating the castle!" Jyoti says to us confidently and calmly. She pushed off from her branch and began flapping her wings in flight, Keesha and i agreed to follow her pushing off from our tree branches that we were hanging from and began to fly. As we flew heaps of other bats were flying around over the lake "Do you notice any change those bats behaviour?" Keesha asks in wonder, "We better not disturb them!" i say to her "They could be blood sucking bats too!". It was hard to tell whether or not those were the same ones that bit us as their appearance all looked the same as other bats we have been seeing "Let's head for the castle guys!" Jyoti says. The 3 if us begin to find an entrance, a window was looking good. As we were making a beeline for a window towards the top of the castle, i look down and begin to notice something. Not only that the smell of blood we getting stronger and my tummy was grumbling but the huge doors of the entrance were slightly open "Hey guys!" i cry to Keesha and Jyoti "Wasn't the door closed when we orginally went in?".
"Ha?" they both said looking at me confusedly. They look down to examine and both knew that the door was shut orginally too "This night is getting creepier and creepier!" Keesha states "Well it is Halloween" Jyoti answers "Yes the night to haunt and to suck your blood!" i say just to haunt them. "Ralphie! Cut it out! We are not turning into vampires or becoming supernatural beings!" Keesha says to shut me up, "I'm sorry i don't know were that came from!" i tell her while giggling. It made Jyoti giggle slightly too. We decided to go and check out the door. We all knew that there was no way that a bat would've opened it as it was too heavy "It would've had to have been something bigger to open it!" i state, "True, the creature had to have had hands to turn the door knob" Keesha says, "Do you think someone else might be here?" Jyoti asks as she was now beginning to sound a little freaked out. We certainlly considered on not ruleing out that thought, as someone else could be here as the small of blood kept getting stronger and stronger. "Let's see if we can find the stranger or person or thing!" i suggest "They might be able to help us change us back!", "Help us? By you mean help us with our thirsts by drinking their blood?" Keesha asks worried. I thought if i nod it might give her the wrong idea. Drinking someones or somethings blood felt like a great idea right now. "Fight the thrist Ralphie!" i hear Jyoti say, i think she had noticed that i had gone into a dream state. "Come on guys, lets search for the source of the blood it might lead us to whoever it is and they might be able to help us return to normal!" Keesha informs us and she headed towards the openage of the castle doors. Jyoti and I followed.
The castle was dark and still. Moonlight shoun threw the windows. The only sound you could hear were the bats in the upper tower squeaking to each other. We flew around the ground floor and used our super sensitive bat hearing and sight to help us find what we are looking for but no luck "Shall we fly towards the stairs and check the next level?" i ask the girls. They both agreed. As we flew to the next level we noticed that the smell of blood was getting stronger "This is totally not a bat thing but should we just follow the scent instead of using our bat hearing and pinging calls?" Jyoti asks Keesha and i. "Well she has a point!" i say turning my head to look at Keesha to see what her thoughts were. She rolled her eyes but then displayed a worried look on her face "If we were to follow the scent, it could be some inocent person who's blood we are hunting for! We may not be able to control oursleves when we find them! Oh Bad! Oh Bad! OH BAD BAD BAD!". Jyoti and i come towards her to calm her down and insure her that everything is going to be alriight (hopefully)! "Keesha if we do not find this stranger, we maybe bats forever!" Jyoti tells Keesha in a calming voice, "Yeah Keesha, as much as this has been an interesting supernatural experience, i feel we need to find them. They might know what is going on in this castle and be able to change us back" i added. Just then we all hear a noise coming from what sounded like the top floor (the tower) "Come on guys if our normal bat senses are not helping, we might have to continue to use our supernatural gift to find this intruder and try and control oursleves!" i say in a shaky voice, "Seeking blood from a stranger ha? How are we going to control our thrists?" Jyoti questions me. I will be honest i was all out of ideas! I really didn't know how we were going to resist the thirst once we find the source of the blood. "Come on guys as much as this is really freaking me out, we gotta do what we gotta do! Vampire bat style!" Keesha shouts sounding she suddenly gain some confidence. "Keesha?" Jyoti and i both shouted in amazement. She has been displaying many kinds of feelings this evening. It was getting to the point that we didn't know what to expect from her "Shut up you two! It's human blood! Let's take chances! Make mistakes and get messy!" Keesha says as she shouts an old saying that Professor Frizzle use to say when we were younger. "Human Blood?" both Jyoti and i ask Keesha in shock but before Keesha reacted to Jyoti's answer she had flown away towards the top floor. Jyoti and i look at each other and i begin to speak to her feeling a little uneasy "Guess as you said earlier Jyoti we are seeking blood from a stranger!".
