WD: The Sketchits
Cinnabar Island, Kanto. 21st February 2019. Seven days after the proposal. 5:47am.
Daisy put on an apron before heading to her favourite spot behind the counter where she liked to make her pancake batter. Quickly grabbing a bowl, she added in some flour, sugar, eggs, milk, and a couple teaspoons of baking powder. Whisking the ingredients, she looked at the time. 5:50. Okay, she still had some time before she had to wake her husband.
Humming happily, she walked across the kitchen, grabbing some bread, a couple tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, and butter. She flipped five pancakes before cutting up the tomatoes and putting four slices of bread in the toaster. Shifting the pancakes onto a plate, she cut the butter in a dice sized cube and put it over the pancakes before drizzling the stack with some maple syrup.
She then took the bread out of the toaster and set it down on a plate and put the tomatoes, lettuce, and mayonnaise atop one of the slices before drowning it with ketchup, just like her daughter liked it. She shook her head chuckling lightly as she packed the sandwich in a lunchbox and placed it on the counter. Grabbing the plate of pancakes, she went to the dining table and set it down in the middle. Nodding to herself, she wiped her hands with a towel and went upstairs.
She pushed open the curtains, letting the sun's rays light the room. Going up to the bed, she shook her husband. "Tracey! Tracey! Babe! Get up!"
Tracey opened his eyes groggily before smiling at his wife. "Morning Baby," he kissed her gently on the lips causing her face to heat up, even though she'd kissed him a million times. "Morning." she whispered, tracing his face with her index finger. Tracey propped himself up on his elbow. "What's the time?" he asked her, rolling over a little.
Daisy checked the clock. "6:08." Tracey nodded, getting up. He sniffed the air. "Hey, it smells good. Pancakes?" he guessed. Daisy nodded, smiling. She knew they were his favourite. Tracey gave her a wide smile that made her heart skip a beat. "Thanks!" He spoke as he went into the bathroom. Daisy smiled at his back. "No problem," she said before going into the room next to her and her husband's.
She clapped her hands. "Rise and shine! School starts in an hour!" she yelled, pushing apart the curtains to let the light flood in. Her daughter groaned. "Five more minutes…" she muttered turning over. Daisy put her hands on her waist. "Sophie Lucinda Sketchit, you will get up and out of this bed, whether you like it, or not." Daisy commanded, pulling the covers off of her daughter.
"Mom!" The four year old whined. Daisy gave her a look. Sophie got up immediately, scared. "Yes mother," she exclaimed, saluting her before running to the bathroom. "Make sure to keep your dirty clothes in the laundry!" Her mother called after her.
Daisy raced back downstairs and into the kitchen, filling up Tracey and Sophie's water bottles. Tracey ran down the stairs, eager to eat his pancakes. Daisy placed a plate in front of him as he helped himself to two as she made a few more for herself. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Tracey got up. "I'll get it!"
He pulled open the door. His jaw slacked. "Mist? Ash? What're you doing here?" he asked bewildered as they stepped in. His daughter ran down the stairs dressed in a black skirt, black shoes, a white collared shirt, and a ponytail holding her blonde locks in place. She looked at the new visitors. Her eyes lit up. "Aunt Misty! And…The champion?!" she turned to her dad. "You know the champion? Why didn't you tell me?" she asked, her brown eyes shining.
Tracey shrugged still staring at his previous travelling partners. "I don't know. I guess it just never came up?" he answered. Daisy came into the room, holding another stack of pancakes. She looked at Tracey. "What happened? Were the pancakes not good? Why're you…Misty!" She hugged her baby sister. Misty smiled brightly. "Hey sis!" she greeted.
Daisy rotated the redhead 360 degrees. "What's with the sudden visit? Are you okay? Did something happen?" she asked frantically. Misty rolled her eyes. "Nothing happened. You really need to soothe those pregnancy hormones," she remarked. Daisy blinked before smiling sheepishly. "Sorry." she said, running a hand over her baby bump. "So, why're you here?" she asked. Misty motioned for Ash to come over. He did. Daisy looked surprised. "Ash," she said.
Misty nodded. Daisy's eyes wandered over to Misty's left hand. She whipped her head up. "Did he…?" Misty nodded once more. Daisy squealed, hugging her sister. Sophie ran up to her dad, terrified of her mother's behaviour. Tracey looked at his wife. "Daise, what…?" She motioned to Misty's finger and Tracey's eyes widened. "No way! Congrats guys!" He spoke happily as he hugged an awkward Ash. Ash turned to him.
"Tracey, I didn't know you were married…" he said, disappointed that his friend didn't invite him to his wedding. Tracey rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, we wanted to invite you, but the wedding date was on the day of your Alola League," he explained. Ash nodded understandingly.
They chatted for the next ten minutes before Tracey and Sophie had to leave for work and school. They waved them goodbye and Daisy, Ash, and Misty chatted while waiting for them to get back. Daisy smiled widely. This was truly one of the most eventful days of her life.
