As the day for their departure to Hogwarts arrives, Harry and his family make their way to King's Cross Station. There, Harry is reunited with his best friends, Hermione, Daphne, Neville, and Draco. They chat excitedly, catching up on the summer's adventures.
"Harry! I miss you so much!" Hermione exclaims, throwing her arms around him.
Harry grins and returns the hug. "I miss you too, Hermione. How is your summer?"
Hermione smiles warmly and begins to share her summer experiences, "My summer was wonderful, Harry. I spent most of it with my parents. We went on a family vacation to the countryside, and it was absolutely lovely. We visited historic places, explored nature trails, and I even convinced them to let me visit a few libraries along the way. It was a perfect blend of relaxation and learning."
Daphne chimes in, "I have a great time visiting my family in France. The food is amazing!"
Neville adds, "And I spend most of my summer tending to my grandmother's garden. She says I have a real knack for it."
Draco smirks, "I take a trip to Italy with my parents. It's rather posh."
Harry introduces his new family member, aunt Marlene, to his friends. Marlene smiles warmly at them, her eyes filled with affection for Harry's friends.
"So, Hermione, Daphne, Neville, and Draco," Marlene begins, "I've heard so much about each of you from Lily. She always speaks highly of Harry's friends, and it's wonderful to finally meet you."
Hermione blushes a bit but smiles back. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Marlene. Harry means a lot to us, and we're grateful to know him."
Daphne nods in agreement. "Harry's a fantastic friend to us as well."
Neville chimes in, "He's there for me when I need it most. I can't thank him enough."
Draco adds, "Harry shows true loyalty and friendship. We're lucky to have him."
Marlene's eyes soften as she looks at them. "You're all such wonderful friends to Harry. I can see how much he values your friendship."
Hermione, always curious, can't help but ask, "How do you come to be Harry's aunt, Marlene? We've heard so little about his family."
Certainly, here's how you can have Marlene tell Hermione about her close connection with Harry's parents and their friends:
As the conversation continues, Marlene can't help but wear a delighted smile. She turns to Hermione, her eyes twinkling with nostalgia and happiness.
"You know, Hermione," Marlene says, "I had the privilege of being best friends with Lily, Harry's mother, during our Hogwarts days. We were inseparable, and those were some of the happiest times of my life."
Hermione's eyes widen with curiosity and amazement. "You were best friends with Lily? That's incredible!"
"And you see," Marlene continues, "I was also close friends with Harry's father, James, along with Sirius and Remus. We were a tight-knit group."
Daphne smiles warmly. "Harry's lucky to have you as his aunt, Marlene."
As the conversation continues, they share stories and laughter, getting to know each other better. Marlene is pleased to see how well her friends' son has chosen his friends and how they genuinely care for each other.
When it's time to board the Hogwarts Express, they bid farewell to their families. Harry gives his mother, Lily, a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek before stepping onto the train. He joins his friends as they search for an empty compartment.
They find one, but it's occupied by a small blonde girl reading a book. Polite as ever, they ask for permission to enter, which the girl grants with a nod. They can't help but notice that the book she's reading appears to be upside down.
"Um, hi," Harry begins, "I'm Harry, and these are my friends, Hermione, Daphne, Neville, and Draco. Mind if we sit here?"
The girl looks up from her book and smiles dreamily. "Of course, you can. I'm Luna Lovegood."
Hermione, ever curious, can't resist asking, "What are you reading, Luna?"
Luna explains, "I'm reading about Crumple-Horned Snorkacks. They're quite fascinating creatures, you know."
Hermione furrows her brow. "I've read a lot about magical creatures, but I've never heard of those. Are they in one of our textbooks?"
Luna giggles softly. "Oh, no. They're not in textbooks. They're very rare, you see. Not many people believe in them, but I do."
Harry discreetly signals to Hermione to be polite and not challenge Luna's beliefs directly. He knows that Luna has a unique magical ability to see a person's aura and has assigned names to describe what she sees. It's a gift Luna hasn't fully understood yet.
With this understanding, they continue their journey to Hogwarts. Suddenly, their compartment door is yanked open by a red-headed boy—Ron Weasley. He immediately spots Harry and can't resist making snide comments about Harry's friends, particularly Hermione, Daphne, Neville, and Draco.
"Well, well, Harry, looks like you've upgraded your friends this year," Ron sneers. "What's the matter? Can't find anyone normal to hang out with?"
Hermione bristles, but Harry puts a calming hand on her shoulder. "Ron, this is Luna Lovegood. She's a friend, and we'd appreciate it if you could be polite."
Ron's eyes land on Luna, and he can't help but snicker. "Loony Lovegood? Harry, mate, you can do better than that. She's barmy."
Luna, who has been quietly observing, stares at Ron intently, and suddenly her expression changes. "You know, Ron, you're surrounded by Wrack spurts."
Ron bursts into laughter. "Wrack spurts? You're even crazier than I thought, Luna!"
But Harry has had enough. He punches Ron in the nose, causing him to yelp and clutch his face. At the same time, he sends a stinging hex in Ron's direction, making him jump in pain.
"Harry, what are you doing?" Hermione exclaims, shocked.
Harry's voice is filled with anger and determination as he sternly warns Ron, "Stay away from me and my friends, Ron. We don't need your negativity."
Ron, nursing his nose, leaves the compartment in a hurry, hurling insults at Harry as he departs, including the accusation that Harry is just a "rich guy who gets everything."
After Ron's exit, Harry and his friends continue their journey to Hogwarts in relative peace, relieved that the confrontation is over. They look forward to their second year at Hogwarts with excitement and anticipation, eager to see what adventures await them.
