AN: I am now going to be going slower, since I don't want to suddenly be involved in an exam like the Chunin Exams.
Naruto and Tenzo arrived by teleportation jutsu into the Hokage's office in a kneeling position, as they looked up at the Hokage, who had called them here for a mission, they were dressed in the Anbu standard uniform and were ready for whatever mission the Third had for them.
"We have discovered that Aoi Nakamura has been found to be a traitor who has stolen a copy of Konoha's Sensing barrier formula, if this copy falls into the hands of our enemies, they could be used to infiltrate the village without us being none the wiser, as our sensory division would not be able to detect any of them, your mission is to eliminate Nakamura and return the border Formula to the hands of the village," ordered Sarutobi, with a smoke of his pipe.
"hai," said Naruto as the two disappeared.
"Do Anbu usually do this type of mission?" asked Naruto, as they jumped through the trees, their steps silent and quiet.
"No, traitors aren't often dealt with by Anbu, especially not simple Chunin but this guy has stolen a key part of Konoha's defenses, and it would be logical to send only the Hokage's most trusted to ensure that it doesn't fall into enemy hands," answered Tenzo, as Naruto nodded. It made sense, Anbu are the most trusted shinobi under the Hokage, and he of course, would trust them to guard sensitive information.
"Wait, where were you guys when the forbidden Scroll was stolen?" asked Naruto.
"We were led to believe that you wouldn't be able to steal the formula, that your skills were so bad that you would easily be caught, we were unaware that you knew how to mask yourself from us, as such the shinobi responsible for this discrepancy shall be dealt with harshly," answered the Anbu Captain.
"Isn't this in the direction of the Land of Rice Paddies?" asked Naruto, as he jumped onto another branch, as he cringed at the painful lessons of geography that they had forced into his head with a stick.
"Yes, we are approaching the border," answered the Anbu Captain, as they noticed fresh tracks, before both of the Anbu's jumped and hid behind separate trees, they found a masked guard patrol.
"Sound Ninja," said Tenzo.
"We'll have to sneak past," said Naruto.
"Yes, now then, activate the transparency jutsu," ordered Tenzo, as Naruto, nodded, activating the jutsu and then masking his chakra, to hide himself even better. They jumped through the trees and over the patrol without them being none the wiser, avoiding the patrol as Naruto and Tenzo crossed, though Naruto was concerned when he noticed that one of them had a Ninja hound.
"What village exists in the land of Rice Paddies?" asked Naruto.
"The Hidden Sound Village," answered Tenzo.
"I don't think I've heard of it," said Naruto.
"It's relatively new, we barely know anything about it," said Tenzo.
"I think their housing traitors from Konoha," said Naruto.
"What do you mean?" asked Tenzo.
"One of them had a ninja hound," answered Naruto.
"That doesn't mean anything," replied Tenzo.
"Yeah but it looked a lot like the ones that I've seen Kiba's family have, plus this guy's a traitor and he's also going here, what's to say others aren't" said Naruto.
"For now, keep that information in your memories, and tell the Lord Hokage later," ordered Tenzo as they both saw a man slowly walking through the forest.
he was dressed in regular navy blue clothing and green flak jacket, but he had black short spiky hair, he had light blue eyes, white skin and a scar on his lip, which was curled up in a cruel smile, his eyes showing pride and arrogance that any intelligent shinobi wouldn't have (any intelligent shinobi would have made the decision to run instead of walk, if they were betraying the village, , or better yet not abandon Konoha at all).
"Those idiots in Konoha deserve it for underestimating me," said Aoi, suddenly he felt a sharp pain in both of his knees, as he fell his arms being the only thing that kept him from hitting the forest, face first.
Before he could say another word or let out any sound, he felt cold silver at his neck, more specifically at larynx, but before he could even begin to talk, the cold silver had sliced his neck, cutting his vocal cords, allowing no sound to exit him as his arms were no longer being used to support him but instead, at his neck, trying to keep the blood from rushing out.
As Nakamura's head hit the dirt, one eye focused on his killer, a porcelain masked Anbu with a panther motif standing above him, wiping the blood of his kunai. One thought entered his head as he finally stopped moving and death claimed him.
'He's a bit short to be an Anbu,' thought Aoi.
Naruto, on the other hand, let out a small shiver seeing the man's eye as blood escaped his neck, forming a short puddle as Naruto knelt down and searched the body, looking for the border formula, before pulling out a scroll which he handed to his captain.
The man opened the scroll, verifying it's contents before nodding, Naruto then placed a seal on the man and watched as his body and blood began to disintegrate into the ash, getting rid of all evidence that there was someone here.
'I wish there was another way, but this guy was going to get a whole lot of other people killed if I don't do this, god knows what would happen to the village if anyone could get in without anybody noticing,' thought Naruto, as both Anbu disappeared, using the teleportation jutsu.
When they arrived at the Hokage's office, they handed him the scroll and were dismissed, though Naruto did still have some questions.
"Old man, how exactly was it found out to be stolen?" asked Naruto, as he didn't disappear.
"Ahh, I guess I should answer that, simple, he was caught by one of the other members of the border patrol who was grievously injured in the escape attempt, though did survive," answered Sarutobi, with a smoke of his pipe.
"Yeah, I think, Konoha might have a security issue," said Naruto, bluntly, as both his captain and his Hokage looked at him.
"Now then, I don't believe so," said Sarutobi, as he let out a cough, Naruto had only been in the shinobi.
"Old man, I was able to steal a scroll filled with extremely important forbidden jutsu which in the wrong hands, could be damaging to the village, when I was completing my mission, I am pretty sure I saw a traitorous Inuzuka working with the Sound Ninja and we don't even know much about the sound village, I am pretty sure, we don't even know much about the village," replied Naruto in a rant, waving his hands around in expressive gestures to add to his point. Sarutobi gazed at the young shinobi who somehow even with his mask on, still, reminded Sarutobi much of his mother.
"You might be right, Naruto, but what can we do?" asked the old Hokage.
"Simple, be a bit more strict on Konoha's spymasters, replace the guys who deal with intelligence, also what did you guys do when you suspected there was traitors before?" asked Naruto.
"Well back during war times, I would have Torture and Interrogation look through multiple files to find traitors," said Sarutobi.
"Why don't you do that?" asked Naruto.
"They are a bit short handed, I need them to interrogate actual traitors at the moment," answered Sarutobi.
"Well, why don't you assign some people to help them," said Naruto, as Sarutobi nodded.
"That would most likely work but where exactly would I find trustworthy people who would be willing to assist them without getting skittish or nightmares?" asked Sarutobi, with a sigh.
"You quite literally have a shadow organization that obeys your every command, and would kill any one ordered to and defend you with their lives," said Naruto, as Tenzo and Naruto both looked at the Hokage, giving off the distinct impression that they were unimpressed, beneath their mask which was kind of impressive.
"Good point, you are dismissed," said Sarutobi, as both disappeared, in smoke.
"Come out, crow," ordered Sarutobi as the Anbu Commander, walked out of a shadow in the room.
"He's become a fine shinobi and Anbu," said Crow, as Sarutobi nodded.
"Indeed he has, but he seems to be acting more like you," replied Hiruzen to which the Commander's posture seemed to give off a distinct impression of happiness, though most Anbu and captains wouldn't be able to detect it.
"I've always wanted a mini me," said the Commander, as Sarutobi shuddered.
"I don't think the village would survive that," said Sarutobi, "plus he's no genius."
"True, but he is showing promise, and the village will survive, probably, onto another point, Sarutobi everything he suggested is basic solutions that any old shinobi could come up with, I suggest that you start taking this job seriously, again, you've started to slip up in the last few years, making multiple mistakes that could easily have been avoided" said the Commander as the Old leader sighed.
"You're right, as you were about Naruto," replied Sarutobi, as he digested the information.
"I wonder, if he wants lessons on his teleportation?" asked the Commander rhetorically, as Sarutobi and the Anbu looked at the Anbu Commander, unimpressed.
-With Naruto-
Naruto was practicing his shurikenjutsu, while he could now hit the target every time but he wanted to be able to hit a moving target with complete accuracy, he had a clone throwing cans randomly while he had another clone mastering a new jutsu, it's name is 'Ninja art: giant shuriken jutsu', a jutsu which could turn a Fuma shuriken into a giant version of itself.
"Hey, Naruto, you busy, tomorrow?" asked a voice behind him, as Naruto continued practicing.
"No, why?" asked Naruto, he was a bit suspicious of the man, as every time, he asked something, it was often ridiculous unless he was serious.
"Can you join my team for training?" asked Kakashi, as Naruto thought about it for a second.
"What do I get out of this?" asked Naruto.
"The ability to show off to your classmates?" asked Kakashi, as Naruto shacked his head, sorry but as cool as that sounded, he didn't want every spy and civilian in the village knowing thanks to the gossipy fangirl on the team, "okay, okay, I'll teach you a cool jutsu..."
"What jutsu?" asked Naruto, a bit suspicious, after all, nothing is as straight as it was with Kakashi Hatake.
"The rasengan," said Kakashi, " a jutsu my sensei invented, and currently out of the 4 who have learnt and mastered it, only 2 are currently alive."
"Your sensei, the Fourth Hokage?" asked Naruto.
"How did you figure that out?" asked Kakashi, a bit nervous, that Naruto had discovered the big secret about him.
"Oh it was in your file, I read it, the day after you asked to train me, Sempai," said Naruto.
"Don't trust me?" asked Kakashi, with a hand over his heart.
"No," replied Naruto, bluntly.
"Oh come on, I wasn't that suspicious," said Kakashi, with a wave of his hand.
"You, a masked man who I don't know, suddenly comes up to me with the offer of training, I don't know how that could look any less suspicious," replied Naruto.
"Haha, come at 12," said Kakashi as he disappeared and Naruto returned to practicing.
-The next day-
Naruto knew this was a bad idea, Captain Tenzo knew this was a bad idea, hell, the birds knew this was a bad idea, as he watched them all fly away from the training ground, or maybe, that was from the shouting he was hearing? He knew he wasn't the most quite shinobi, not by a long shot, but why in the world was he hearing shouting?
"How dare he be late," shouted Sakura, as he walked up to the group of incompetents, he means Genin.
"Maa, maa, Sakura, I'm sure, he'll be here soon, in fact, there he is approaching us," said Kakashi as he waved towards Naruto who walked up to them, with a look that could radiate annoyance.
"What is he doing here?" asked Sakura, a bit scared.
"Naruto has been nice enough to train with us," said Kakashi, with an eye smile.
"Why would this failure train with us?" asked Sasuke, unimpressed.
"Simple, he is more powerful than you, Sasuke," said Kakashi to which everyone looked at Kakashi, clearly not believing.
"There's no way, he's an idiot and dead last, we might not have seen him in 2 months, but that doesn't meant that he could grow that much," said Sakura, arrogant
"He could, in fact, let's test that in a spar, everything is allowed," said Kakashi, as Naruto grew shocked, "Naruto, Sasuke, get ready for combat."
Sakura and Sai both stepped aside as Naruto and Sasuke both took positions opposite each other, Sasuke rose the seal of confrontation while Naruto just stared at him.
"Begin!" shouted Kakashi, as Naruto and Sasuke just stared at each other for a couple of seconds, before Sasuke got tired of waiting and rushed at Naruto, when he got close enough, he threw a punch which Naruto sidestepped to the right, and then attempted to kick Naruto, but found himself hitting Naruto's arm as Naruto had blocked the kick.
Naruto was mostly defensive, Sasuke threw another punch but it was easily dodged and his next punched was grabbed by Naruto, who pushed him back.
'So this is the taijutsu style of the Uchiha, it's clear, he's trying to predict my movements, meaning he doesn't actually have the sharingan, it also means that his moves are sloppy, I should end this quickly,' thought Naruto, unimpressed. Sasuke went in for another punch but Naruto was able to quickly side step it to the right and threw a kick which hit Sasuke straight in the stomach.
It sent him through the air, spinning before hitting him onto the ground, as Sasuke got up, he spit out some blood, and wiped away and that was left. His anger was palpable. Sasuke then decided to use what was his trump card in the battle, his ninjutsu, he started to go through hand signs, to which Naruto grew shocked, clearly believing that Sasuke didn't know any ninjutsu.
'He's slow with hand signs, too, what has Kakashi been training in him?' thought Naruto, unimpressed, as he recognized the hand signs.
"Fire style: fire ball jutsu!" shouted Sasuke as soon as the fire ball collided, Sasuke expecting victory after multiple seconds stopped the fireball and walked over to the ruin, where all he found was a burnt piece of wood.
"I'm up here!" shouted Naruto, as Sasuke looked shocked to find Naruto standing under a tree branch, before jumping down.
Naruto stood there for a second as smoke appeared behind him and out came a straight edged fuma shuriken, which he held, and stared at Sasuke before throwing the fuma shuriken at him and going through hand signs. Sasuke of course smirked, believing that he could easily dodge such a pathetic attack.
"Shuriken Shadow clones!" shouted Naruto as one fuma shuriken transformed into many rushing at Sasuke whose face showed disbelief and horror.
"Sasuke!" shouted Sakura, but a wall of earth appeared adorned with dog faces appeared, protecting the Uchiha from the giant Shuriken.
"Spar over, Naruto wins," said Kakashi as the wall broke into pieces and Naruto walked over.
"Now then, what did you observe?" asked Kakashi, with an eye smile.
"Naruto wasn't really trying, he was mostly defensive, and beat dickless easily," answered Sai.
"Indeed, now then any questions?" asked Kakashi.
"How did he get so strong?" asked Sasuke, annoyed.
"Simple, Naruto has gotten special training that has put him at high Chunin level for his assignment," answered Kakashi with an eye smile.
"How's that fair?" asked Sakura.
"It's not about fair, I required training to do my mission so the village provided that training, the village doesn't care about what's fair, they care that you complete the objective they have given you," answered Naruto, honestly, to which Sakura grew shocked.
"Kakashi sensei, can we do this training?" asked Sasuke.
"Alright, let me just get a stick," answered Kakashi.
"Why do we need a stick?" asked Sakura, nervously.
"Oh part of the reason's Naruto's training is so effective, is that every error and every time he wasn't focusing was corrected with the hit of a stick," answered Kakashi, as Sakura looked horrified.
"Is, is, that legal?" asked Sakura.
"Actually yes," answered Kakashi.
"I don't think we need that training, sensei," answered Sakura.
"Oh, alright," said Kakashi.
"Now then, Naruto, let's go have a chat over there, you will practice with my shadow clone, team work exercises," said Kakashi as he and Naruto walked to the other side of the training ground while Sasuke, Sakura and Sai were with a shadow clone.
"So what's their obvious flaws?" asked Kakashi, with an eye smile.
"Sasuke's too arrogant and a loner, attitude like that would get him killed, thanks to that spar, he'll either get worse or get better, Sakura clearly needs to wake up to reality, and clearly needs to improve in taijutsu, endurance and her chakra reserves are too small, I couldn't get a reading on Sai, Kakashi, what have you been up to this last month?" asked Naruto.
"Team work exercises," answered Kakashi.
"Yes but you also need work on other things, less you want them to die, which they would as team work doesn't really work against higher level ninja, if their individual skills suck," said Naruto.
