Dan the bluewolf: got it
Jebest4781: That's an interesting idea with her bringing up the bullying to the superintendent that could lead to something I could use. We'll see about it.
Yeah, I just felt that the school shed thing wouldn't work. Since She finds out about his powers, he could get them out of the predicament so fast that it wouldn't mean anything.
Scandal or not, it should be interesting to see how they get to that point.
Phantom Thief of Hearts: Danny is the most sane option even in the original canon.
Yep, the shed scene would have no reason to be there and if I did it, it would just be dumb with Danny not using his powers when he knows she knows. Way too contrived.
As for the Chibi Vampire X Danny phantom idea, not sure. I was planning on using the anime since Karin is cuter in that one than she is in the manga but I could have her personality from the anime be prominent but the situations from the manga be sprinkled in.
I.S. AWESOME 2014: I could have it where Danny is stargazing alone. The family camping thing would just lead to the rest of the family would lead the rest of the Fenton family in finding out and I like it if they are in the dark about it as well.\
Runeion: glad you like it so far. And I hope you look forward to the Chibi Vampire X Danny Phantom fic when it comes out. Though not sure how to alert anyone apart from being followed or put a notice on a chapter. I'm hoping to have the first chapter out sometime this month, so be on the lookout.
Tafion: yeah, I think we all agree the shed scene wouldn't work. Glad you like this and hope you continue to enjoy this. As for Tucker and Sam, I might write away from them since they do cause a lot of problems but I'm not sure just yet.
TheWhiteTitan: it could lead to a scandal :). And yeah, maybe teleportation was just the biggest thing at the time of the anime. Gotta come up with new stuff.
KorevainsoLightshire: glad you liked it. The anime is a simple slice of life so I hope you like it for what it is. Sam and Tucker cause a lot of problems, even when they are helping out. Jazz, not sure. Also, I have plans for him geeking out about space later on. I could do the freckle thing. Would be something Mizuho finds charming
Okami2312: his life is already weird, this shouldn't be that much of a change….. Until things become more troublesome
darkness of enigma: glad you like how I am doing things with them. There is going to be a push but nothing too major just yet. Having her be his intelligence agent could be an interesting way to incorporate her into his fights. As for tech for her, we will see.
Chapter 3: A Day with
Danny was running through the hallways of the school in order to get to class. He had just spent a few hours, including the first hour of the school day trying to catch a group of ghost …..pigs. Pigs! 'If it weren't for the snake I had to wrangle up a few days ago, I might as well call myself a ghost farmer! Get along, little doggy.' He chuckled at the thought but had to return to reality as he almost slipped when turning the corner. He bounced on one foot to try and stop but he was unlucky and hit his shoulder on the wall. Pushing off the wall, he bolted again and saw the door that led to his class. He reached out and grabbed the doorknob before he burst into the room.
"Kya!"
Danny had his hands on his knees as he was gasping for air. Once he looked up, he saw the bored looks of the rest of the class, but when his gaze turned to where the strange sound came from, he saw Miss Kazami had a hand on her chest as she looked like she was startled by something. It took him a second till he realized that she was shocked by him bursting into the room.
Being in the middle of the lesson and focused on what she was saying, he supposed that a loud bang would shock anyone.
He finally caught his breath and stood up. He rubbed the back of his head as he nervously spoke. "Um, sorry for being late, Miss Kazami.
The woman finally caught her breath before she stood back up and addressed him. "That's alright, Danny, but please stay after class so we can talk about why you are late."
Danny nodded as he trudged to his desk. He was so out of it that he didn't notice the foot sticking out in his path. He tripped and fell, face first, onto the ground, causing the rest of the class to laugh.
Miss Kazami, however, frowned at the sight. "Mister Baxter, I would recommend you do not do that again."
Dash looked up at the teacher in feigned innocence. "But, Miss Kazami, I didn't do anything."
The teacher didn't lose her frown. "I am not blind, Mister Baxter. Do not argue with me or you will be getting detention for a few days."
Dash couldn't believe that the teacher was going to give him, the star quarterback, detention. "But I'm the star player on the football team!"
Miss Kazami's frown deepened. "Continue to argue and I will give you detention now for a week."
Dahs chose not to say anything and just grumbled to himself. "If you ain't blind, why the hell do you have glasses on?"
Danny made it to his seat and couldn't help but smile at how Miss Kazami was not letting Dash get away with his usual bullying.
Tucker chuckled as he whispered to Danny. "Dude, she is becoming my favorite teacher. And not just because she's hot."
Sam rolled her eyes before she whispered to Danny. "Just be glad you'll be able to get away from being late a few times before she starts giving you detention every day like Lancer did. You better come up with a good excuse for why you were late this time."
Danny pulled out his notebook as he couldn't help but internally smirk. 'I don't think I'll need to think of one.'
The bell rang, signifying the end of the day and the start of the weekend, and the whole class packed up their things and began to leave the classroom.
Danny looked at his friends as they looked like they were planning on sticking around. "Don't worry, guys, I can deal with this myself."
Sam raised an eyebrow as she crossed her arms. "You really think you can come up with an excuse that she will believe?"
Danny looked over his shoulder to see Miss Kaazami looking over some papers that she had. "Yeah, I'm sure."
Sam and Tucker looked at each other before shrugging. They headed out the door as Tucker told him. "We'll wait for you in front of the school."
Danny nodded as he waited for them to leave. Once it was just him and his teacher, he walked up to her desk and waited for her to notice him.
Miss Kazami looked up and saw that it was now just her and Danny. "Well, Danny, would you mind closing the door?"
Danny wondered why she wanted to close the door till he realized that if he was going to tell her why he was late, they didn't need anyone listening in. He did as asked before getting back to the spot he was at.
Miss Kazami put the papers down and looked up at him in worry. "What was it that caused you to be late?"
Danny rubbed the back of his neck at the look of worry as he began to talk. "Well, my ghost sense went off around four in the morning and when I went out, I ended up chasing around a pack of ghost pigs."
"Ghost…. Pigs?"
Danny chuckled at the look of befuddlement on her face. "Yeah, it is as weird as it sounds. I actually paused when I saw what they were as I couldn't believe it. But when I tried getting close to them, they scattered and I had to spend hours trying to catch them all."
Mizuho leaned back in her chair as she placed a hand on her chest and let out a sigh of relief. After learning about what he has to go through, she was worried about him going out and potentially getting hurt. She saw him take a missile and continue but it was still stressful thinking about it. Getting back to current events, she spoke. "Thank you for telling me. Now for another matter I wish to talk to you about."
Danny raised an eyebrow before walking. "What is it?"
Mizuho grabbed a piece of paper and brought it up to show the score.
Danny couldn't help but wince as he saw that it was his math test and the score was only thirty points out of a hundred. "...oh."
Mizuho though, smiled reassuringly. "It's alright. I understand that you don't have a lot of time to study. But I do have an offer if you're interested."
Danny shrugged. "Sure."
"Since it is the weekend, maybe you can come over and I can help you study up on the subject."
Danny was a little surprised by the offer. Sure he knew that she said that she would help him study but he didn't expect it to be so soon. But he wasn't going to turn it down. "Are you sure? I mean, if you really have the time to help me with this I don't mind, but what about your other job and the other students?"
Mizuho smiled. "Well, perhaps you can help me with my observation duties. Having someone who lives on this planet helping me could speed up my reports."
Danny had to keep himself from geeking out at the idea of using alien tech. However, he wasn't that successful cause he saw that she was giving him a knowing smile. "Uh, sure, if you think I can help you."
Mizuho nodded before she stood up. "Well, since we have cleared that up, would you like me to take you home?"
Danny tilted his head. "You mean give me a ride? Sure, I don't mind. Didn't know you had a car."
Mizuho grabbed her bag and the papers that were on her desk. "I do, but I have a faster way to get you home." She looked up as if talking to someone above her before she spoke. "Marie, priority one, teleport me and Danny to my house."
Danny looked down as they both lit up in a familiar light. "Oh, right. I forgot you could do this." Despite him saying that, he was still geeking out at being teleported. 'This is so COOL!'
Standing in front of the school, Sam and Tucker began to feel impatient at how Danny still hadn't shown up.
Sam growled before angrily asking. "What's taking him so long?"
Tucker could only shrug as he was doing his best to keep himself entertained on his PDA
~Saturday~
Danny walked down the stairs to the first floor to see his parents working at the kitchen table on another of their inventions. He walked up to them to see his mother welding something to the device. He brought his hand up in order to cover his eyes from the flashes. "Hey, mom?"
Maddie Fenton paused in her work and looked up to see Danny waiting for her to respond. "Yes, what is it, sweetie?"
Danny lowered his hand before bringing up what he wanted to say. "I'm heading out to meet up with my tutor. Don't know if you remember that I told you about it yesterday."
Maddie thought about it for a second before her mind went to the moment Danny said he would meet up with a tutor in order to help him with his grades. It took her a moment since she was working on the device in her hands. She felt proud that he was trying to bring his grades back up after they had dropped. "OK, Danny, do you have any idea how long you'll be?"
Danny shrugged. "Don't know. I was allowed to stay as long as I think I should since it's a Saturday and we want to make sure that I understand the stuff."
Maddie thought about it for a second before she nodded. "OK. Just let us know if anything happens. We'll be here for the whole day since we don't think we will be finished with this until maybe tomorrow."
Danny nodded as he adjusted his bag. "Got it." he turned around and began to leave the kitchen before he called out to his dad. "Later, Dad."
Jack's head popped out from behind the fridge door with a bar of fudge in his mouth. He raised a hand to wave his son goodbye.
Danny chuckled at the sight as he left his house. He made sure his parents stayed in the kitchen as he closed the door before he went next door.
He didn't want to tell his parents that he was only going next door to meet with his teacher. The reason for keeping it a secret was that he didn't want his parents to suddenly barge in with some random ghost-related urgency and possibly see something they shouldn't. With how lacking in personal space his parents were, he knew they would barge into Mizuho's home without any restraint.
Danny made it to the front door of the building next door before he knocked. He didn't have to wait long till the door opened to reveal his teacher. He noticed that she was wearing something different from what she usually wears at school. She was wearing a lime green sleeveless dress shirt and a long beige skirt. A bit of a contrast compared to her usual teacher look, but she still has that usual teacher vibe to her.
Mizuho smiled at the sight of her student. "Danny, good morning."
Danny smiled back at her. "Morning. Sorry if I'm late, I had to tell my parents I was leaving."
Mizuho shook her head before she chuckled out her answer. "It's no problem. Though I do find it odd how you can be late when you live next door."
Danny chuckled himself as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, you'd be surprised at the weird excuses I can come up with."
The two of them had a small laugh before she allowed him to enter her house.
Danny took notice of all the empty boxes and asked. "Did you finally get all your stuff unpacked?"
Mizuho nodded as she went over to a short table in the living room and grabbed a few things. "Yes, with a lot of my time taken up with teaching, I only just finished unpacking yesterday."
Danny wondered if a lot of the things she had were more alien tech or just some normal stuff that would make her living area more earthling-like.
Mizuho moved over to another table and put her things down. "Well, shall we get started? The sooner we get started, the sooner we can finish."
Danny rubbed the back of his neck as he walked over to the table. "That depends on if I can get any of what you are going to teach me through my thick skull."
"We won't know till we try."
Danny sat in one of the seats as he pulled out his homework and books. Once he laid them on the table he heard the chair next to him slide. He looked to his left to see Mizuho sitting next to him.
"Well, let's get started."
Danny couldn't help but blush at the close proximity of her but he did his best not to make it obvious. He cleared his throat as he pointed at his homework. He spoke up as he began to explain what it was he needed help with… with his voice breaking in the first few words. "Well, I *ahem* I'm having trouble with this part as it…."
And so, the two of them began their session, with Mizuho teaching him ways to solve them and him listening to everything she had to say.
~Later, Afternoon~
Danny laid his head on the table as they finally finished. "I know I missed a lot of things but I didn't think there would be so much of the material that I didn't know."
Mizuho let out a sigh as she also was surprised by the amount of time that it took. "Well, at least you are now able to understand a good amount of the material."
Danny lifted his head up from the table and smiled at her. "I can't thank you enough for helping me out with this. If it wasn't for me finding out your secret and you learning mine, I'm pretty sure I would never have had the chance of being taught like this."
Mizuho nodded as she picked up her teaching tools and moved them back to the short table from before. "It's the least I can do for what you are doing for me." once she had put them down, she looked at the clock to see that it was around five in the afternoon. "Oh my, looks like I should let you go so you can have dinner at your house." She moved over to the table so she could walk him out.
Danny got up from his seat and looked at the clock as well before nodding. He got up and looked up at his teacher as she now stood in front of him. "Yeah, I should go now before…."
*BOOM*
An explosion was heard before the whole building began to shake, causing the occupants to try and keep on their feet.
Mizuho lost her balance and found herself falling forward. "Wah!"
Danny on the other hand fell back on his seat before he noticed his teacher falling. His instincts kicked in and he reached out and caught her as she fell on him.
Mizuho had shut her eyes as she fell and gripped onto whatever she fell on in order to stay stable.
It took a minute till the shaking stopped and everything calmed down.
Mizuho slowly opened her eyes when she felt that her home stopped shaking and wondered what could have caused it. When her eyes fully opened, she couldn't help but blush at her position.
Danny had also closed his eyes but more out of reflex than fear. One odd thing was that his head suddenly felt like they were on something soft. He slowly opened his eyes only to see lime green.
"Uh….um…."
Danny tilted his head up to see the blushing face of Mizuho. Her expression was that of embarrassment and he wondered why, till he looked back down to see that he had his face on her breasts.
Mizuho knew that Danny did do this on purpose but that doesn't mean that she wouldn't feel embarrassed with how they were sitting. She found herself sitting on his lap with her arms around his neck, his arms around her waist, and his face in her breasts. She blushed heavily as she looked down at him and saw that he was slowly beginning to realize their position as well.
The two stayed there, unmoving for a few minutes, not knowing how to react to this situation.
*BOOM*
Another explosion shocked them out of their stupor and Danny yelped before he accidentally activated his intangibility and they fell through the chair.
"Ah~" Mizuho found herself falling once more but this time, to the floor, and yet still holding onto Danny.
Danny was now sitting on the ground, with his teacher still in his lap, and both of them intangible. Good thing they were still intangible since they were now in the chair he was once sitting on. He tried to clear his throat but his embarrassment made even that difficult. After a few tries, he finally got it and pulled his head away from her breasts so he could speak to her. However, her arms around his neck made it a little more difficult. "Um, we should get up off the ground so that we aren't in the chair anymore."
Mizuho looked to see that they were indeed in the chair and wondered how this was even possible. Taking his advice, she tried to get up from his lap only to feel him pull her back onto his lap with him holding her there. Her blush returned and was about to ask what he was doing, only for him to beat her to the punch.
"You don't want to go tangible while you are inside something. It could hurt really bad." He had an experience like that when he first got his powers and it hurt his hand when he made it tangible with the tips of the fork still in it. He used his ability of flight to lift themselves off the ground and onto their feet. He finally let her waist go and stepped away from him as he coughed into his fist with a clear blush on his face. "Sorry about that. I must have used my powers by accident from the sudden explosions.
Mizuho cleared her throat as she adjusted her glasses and tried to look dignified, though the blush she still had hadn't dropped. "I ….suppose it was an accident from the explosions." She remembered said explosions and she spun around to look out the window in case there was something attacking. "Speaking of… what were those explosions?"
Danny got back to where they were before he registered the question. Thinking for only a second, he began to walk toward the door. "I have an idea." He opened the front door and looked toward his house only to deadpan at the sight.
Mizuho followed him to see what it was and saw that Fenton Works had smoke coming out the windows. She grew concerned before shouting to Danny. "We should get some help or the fire department in order to…!" She stopped when she saw Danny shake his head.
Danny sighed as he saw the smoke coming from the windows. "Don't worry about it. Those explosions are just my parents working on their new invention and something went boom." He moved back inside with a slump in his posture as he continued. "In fact, I should be getting a call from them in three… two….."
*ring~*
Mizuho was a little surprised to see that he had predicted he would receive a call from his parents. She watched as he picked up the phone and talked with a look of boredom.
"Hey, mom, what's up?"
Mizuho thought it was odd how he had a look of boredom and still spoke as if he was happy to get the call.
Danny sat back in the chair as he listened to his mom explain to him what happened.
{hi, Sweetie, I'm calling to let you know that there has been another incident at the house. One of our projects overreacted and exploded. So, I think it would be best if you stay over at Tucker's like last time. We already called your sister and told her the same thing. We're sure we can fix things up by the end of today-}
As Danny listened to his mother, he lifted his free hand and counted down with his fingers.
*boom*
Danny couldn't help but smile in exasperation at the sound of the other explosion. He even heard his dad in the background of the call.
{Sorry, Maddie!}
{- …. Maybe by tomorrow afternoon. So please stay with Tucker till we call and let you know that the house is back to normal. Thankfully it only affected the lab so nothing of yours should be damaged.}
Danny leaned on the back of the chair and nodded. "Alright, I can stay over Tucker's place for a day while you guys fix it up. Good thing this happened on the weekend. Are you sure you guys don't need any help?"
{it's fine. And it's better for you to stay away since you don't have a hazmat suit to handle all the ecto material that might need to be moved. By the way, do you know what happened to it?}
Danny couldn't help but look down at his chest as he thought about where it was. "Nope, no idea! I'll talk to you guys later." He hung up the phone and sighed at the situation.
"Is everything alright?"
Danny looked up to see Mizuho giving him a look of concern. He smiled as he waved his hand dismissively. "Yeah. it isn't eh first time that this has happened and I'm sure it won't be the last. My mom just called in order to tell me that I should stay at Tucker's since they are going to be fixing the house. Don't worry, my parents reinforced the whole building to handle almost anything so the explosions are sort of like a dropped plate to us. We just take extra precautions with the stuff my parents deal with."
Mizuho got curious about what his parents do since she never asked about them and he never really brought them up. "Danny, what do your parents do?"
This caught Danny by surprise since he was sure that everyone in town and beyond would know about what the Fentons did. He then figures that she didn't hear about them since she was focused on setting up her home and her jobs as a teacher and earth observer. He wonders if he should tell her what they do when she knows that he is a ghost but doesn't know about his parents being ghost hunters. Not wanting to worry her more than she must already, he chose to reword it. "My parents are scientists. They call themselves ecto-oligists as they study the afterlife and the energy that comes from it." He had to pat himself for being able to tell a half-truth like that without sounding obvious that he was hiding something. 'When did I get good at lying?'
"That sounds like a very interesting field of study. Perhaps I can look more into that later on." Mizuho was intrigued by the notion of studying the afterlife. She was sure that the thought of the afterlife was different here on Earth than it was on other planets. Part of her wanted to ask more about it but there was another matter that she felt she should bring up. "About what I heard earlier, about you staying with your friend?"
Danny nodded. "Yeah, since my parents don't want me or Jazz to be in the house while they do their fixing up, I said I can stay with Tucker. Speaking of…." Danny looked down at his phone before dialing Tucker's number. He waited for a few seconds till he heard the call be picked up. "Hey, Tuck, you busy today?" He raised an eyebrow as he heard a lot of noise coming from the other end.
{Hey, Danny, and to answer your question, yes I am. There was a gaming convention that was happening and I bought myself a ticket so I could see the cool new stuff that are coming out.}
Danny gained a look of betrayal. "Hey! Why wasn't I invited?!"
{Sorry, dude, I forgot to ask you.}
Danny couldn't help but grumble as he heard the excitement and unremorseful tone coming from Tucker. "Well, you mind telling me where the convention is? Maybe I can fly by and we can check out the rest of the stuff."
{oh, sure. The convention is being held at - OH, WOW, THEY HAVE THE NEWEST CONSOLE WITH PDA CAPABILITIES!}
Before Danny could say anything else, Tucker hung up the phone, leaving Danny with no idea where the convention was. He glared at his phone before he mumbled out. "Thanks a lot, Tuck."
"What's wrong?"
Danny couldn't help but smirk at how it seemed that his teacher was going to ask him that every time something happened. "Nothing. It just seems that Tucker isn't even at home today. He went to a convention without letting me know. And if I know him, he is going to be there till he physically can not walk anymore…. And even then, he still wouldn't leave"
Mizuho sat down in the seat next to him as she asked. "So, what are you going to do now?"
Danny thought about it for a second till he shrugged. "Not sure. I would ask Sam but I don't think she would let me stay at her place since she never brought up where she lived before." He paused as he thought about that for a second. 'Actually, she doesn't say anything about her private life. I mean, I know it's rude but she made us tell her about where we live and all that but she doesn't let us know.'
"So what are you going to do?"
Danny sighed as he shrugged. "I can probably just go out flying for most of the night till something comes to me."
Mizuho didn't like the idea of him going out with no real plan on where he could stay for the night. She thought about what she could do in order to help him till an idea came to her. "Well, maybe I can help you out with this as well."
Danny looked to his right at her with a raised eyebrow.
Mizuho's cheeks gained a dusting of pink as she realized what she was about to offer but she already started it so she had to see it through. "Why not stay here till you are able to go home." She cleared her throat in order to keep talking. "Since I already helped you with your studies, I can help you with this other issue as well."
Danny blinked in surprise as he wasn't expecting her to offer him a place to stay. It wasn't like he was in dire need of a place since he figured that he could call Tucker later and tell him he would stay at his place. But now that Mizuho was offering, he felt a small bit of relief from a problem he didn't think was that big. "You don't really have to…"
"But I want to."
She herself didn't realize that she had said that a little too quickly.
Dany paused for a second before he smiled up at her. "Well, I guess I can stay here if you are offering. You are doing a lot for me." He stood up and smiled as he looked into her eyes. "Thanks."
Mizuho gave a bright smile at him before she saw him let out a gasp of blue mist. She saw his expression sour and wondered what it was. Before she could ask…..
"BEWARE~!"
Danny let out a groan as he turned around to see the most annoying ghost he had ever had to deal with. He noticed that the ghost didn't even realize he was there as he was doing his own thing again.
Box Ghost was looking at the stack of empty boxes that Miss Kazami had in the corner while throwing his arms in the air. "I am the Box Ghost! And I will soon add you to my collection of all things cardboard and square~!"
Danny just gave a flat look to Box Ghost's back before he walked to the living room so he could grab his bag.
Miss Kazami gasped at the sight of a ghost in her home, something that didn't go unnoticed by the Box Ghost.
He turned around and pointed dramatically at her. "You~~~" He flew over to float in front of her, causing her to lean back in slight fear. "Beware! For I am the Box gho~st and I shall be taking all of your boxes for myself. Do not even try to stand in the way of the Box Gho~st!"
Mizuho didn't know how to react to this. She felt slightly afraid at the sight of this unknown person that was floating in front of her, but the fact that he was speaking in such a manner and only wanting to take her boxes lowered the threat he posed. "Um…?" before she could think of saying anything, she heard a whirring sound and watched as a blast of blue light enveloped the man before he screamed in shock.
Box ghost looked to his right to see the ghost boy holding the thermos and sucking him in. "when did you waaaaaoooooOOOOOOHHH~"
Danny watched as the Box Ghost got sucked into his thermos and smiled as this was the fastest he had ever captured the annoying specter. "Why can't all my ghost fights end that fast?" He looked up to see his teacher looking at him in bewilderment. He awkwardly rubbed his neck as he waved the thermos in his hand. "Sorry about him. He is one of my weaker enemies and only ever annoys people when he shows up."
Mizuho finally shook herself out of her shock before nodding. "It's alright. I was just surprised to see a ghost show up in my house. The last one I saw was the mechanical one that you fought when we first spoke with each other."
"Skulker, yeah, he is one of the toughest ones I fight, but I learned how to handle him."
Mizuho eyed the thermos in his hand and could not help but want to do more to aid Danny in this so he wouldn't have to get hurt so much. Sure, this ghost was taken care of easily, but what about that Skulker he said was one of the toughest ones he fought? There might be stronger ghosts he hasn't seen yet and she worried about his well-being. "Danny, if you ever have a spare of one of those, do you mind if I take a look at it?"
Danny looked at the thermos in his hand and thought about what she was asking. 'Well, I don't think she plans on stealing any of my parents' tech. I mean she has alien tech that looked cooler than what my parents made. Maybe she just wants one to protect herself from ghosts in case they come here. She does live next door to the portal that always seems to be open at the worst time.' He looked back up at her and shrugged. "Sure." he then gained a teasing smirk as he put the thermos into his bag. "As long as you don't plan on stealing their tech for yourself."
Mizuho puffed out her cheeks as she gave a soft glare at him. "I wouldn't do that."
Danny chuckled at her look. "I know. I was just messing with you. Speaking of Tech, where's that little guy? Marie, right?"
Mizuho nodded. "Marie is in my room, resting. Since I didn't have any work pertaining to my surveillance, I allowed him to rest for the day."
Before anything else could be said, Danny's stomach decided to make its protests known.
He blushed at how loud his stomach was and felt even more embarrassed when Mizuho giggled at it.
Once Mizuho calmed down, she smiled at him as she moved to the kitchen. "I suppose we should get some food. It is about time for it. I'll get started while you wait for me in the living room."
Danny thought about it before he chose to follow her into the kitchen. "Let me help with that. You are letting me stay here while my parents fix up the house, not to mention you helped me study. The least I can do is help you out wherever I can while I'm here."
"I didn't know you could cook."
Danny chuckled at that. "You've only known me for a week."
With that, the two got to work on dinner, with Danny being surprised with what they had.
The dinner they had was a bowl of rice, miso soup, and fried fish.
The biggest issue, at least for Danny, was that they were using chopsticks. Something that Danny had never done before and it was very comical for Mizuho to see him try and eat. In the end, Mizuho moved over to help Danny in holding the chopsticks.
Something that caused Danny to blush again at the close proximity.
Once Danny was able to get ahold of the method, he brought up something that came to his mind. "Is this dinner set from your home or something?"
Mizuho gave an amused hum before shaking her head. "No. This is a traditional dinner in Japan."
"Japan?" He thought about it for a second and remembered that she told him she was half alien. 'And with her looking like she is Asian…..' "Does that mean that your human parent was Japanese?"
Mizuho nodded. "Yes. My father." Her mood dropped as she thought about him. "In the early years of the 1990s, Earth had attempted to send out a space vessel to Mars in order to conduct research. However, due to miscalculations, the vessel was unable to fully make the journey and the ship ended up adrift in space."
"I remember reading about that. The folks at NASA wanted to see if it was at least possible to send out a small team toward the planet with them maintaining the ship in order to make the journey. But they lost track of the ship a week after the launch. It was one of NASA's biggest mistakes and made sure to never do something like that without fully testing if its equipment was up to the task."
Mizuho nodded. This was what was assumed since they didn't have NASA's statement for it. "It wasn't until a week after that it was picked up by a Galaxy Federation ship, where my father met my mother, and the two immediately fell in love. Soon after that, I was born." She wasn't sure why she was telling Danny this but she felt like she could. Like he was someone that she could consult with, and not just because he already knew her secret. "But, my father died when I was very young and all I remember about him is a silhouette and a box of sweets he said were his favorite." She leaned back on her chair, placed her chopsticks down, and sighed. "Dakarakoso chikyū ni kitakatta nodesu. Watashi wa chichi ga umareta chikyū ni tsuite shiritakatta." (1)
She ended up speaking in Japanese without realizing it as she was lost in her thoughts.
Danny winced as his ears began to ring and he brought up his hand to rub his right ear. Despite that, he heard what she said before pushing down his wince and smiled at her. "I guess that is a good reason to come here. Wanting to know more about your father would be a good motivator for anyone." After a minute, his mind thought about the Mars trip before his mind stalled at how something felt off. "Wait….. The Mars attempt was done in 1996. But it's 2007. If you were born just after the trip…how is that you…..?"
Mizuho could see where his thoughts were going and felt like she should ease his confusion. "On the planet I grew up on, time is much faster than that of Earth's. As such, I grew up faster than those on earth. That is why I am an adult while only nine years passed since the Mar's journey."
Danny couldn't help but find it cool that there was even some Time dilation between his planet and hers. His inner geek was freaking out about it.
Mizuho got up from her seat and smiled at Danny. "Thank you for listening to my story."
Danny shook his head as he had no problem in listening. "It's alright. Thanks for telling me." he grabbed his dishes and took them to the kitchen with Mizuho following him with her own dishes. "Maybe when you find the time, you can head over to Japan so you can learn more about the place your dad came from." He placed his dishes in the sink and began to clean them.
Mizuho smiled at the notion. "I hope so." She moved to stand next to him as she joined him in cleaning the dishes.
The two finished washing the dishes and put them away before Danny moved to the living room. "Not sure what to do now for the rest of the day."
Mizuho walked up next to him and gave him a smile. "I'm sure we can find something fun to do."
~Night time~
{AAAAAAAAHHHHHH~}
Mizuho and Danny were sitting on the couch, watching a moving that they found while scrolling through channels.
Danny had said that he had seen the movie before and thought it was a good watch.
Since Mizuho had not spent a lot of time watching TV during her time on Earth, she had no knowledge of the media of this planet so she chose to give it a try. What she didn't know was that it was a horror movie, something she had found out she was scared of.
Yet, she continued to watch despite her wanting to look away. She was holding onto one of the pillows as she peeked over the top as if to protect her. The fact that they turned off the lights didn't help in keeping her nerves calm.
Danny had seen how scared she was and had offered to change the channel, but she had said she could handle it. Truthfully, part of her wanted to know what about this Danny enjoyed so she chose to watch it till the end. Another part was that it was a sci-fi movie that had aliens in it and she wanted to know what Earth depicted aliens to be like. That was more than an hour ago and she wished she had taken his offer of changing the channel. She shivered at the sight of the main female character running down a dark corridor.
Throughout the whole thing, there had been little to no visuals of what it was but the atmosphere and tension that was going through the whole cast made the whole thing terrifying. The scream from before was from one of the few survivors left.
Mizuho's eyes kept going through the whole screen as she was scared that the creature would come out of nowhere.
Danny had seen the movie some time ago and had enjoyed the movie. He knew it was a slow horror film but he didn't expect it to scare Mizuho so much. He wasn't really watching the movie now since Mizuho was sitting at his side and had one hand clinging to his sleeve. He opened his mouth in order to tell her they didn't need to continue watching until.
The creature popped up on screen and Mizuho screamed in fright before she threw the pillow away, jumped onto Danny, and buried her face in his chest as she clung to him as if he were a lifeline.
Danny wrapped his arms around her in reaction to her jumping onto him and blushed at the close proximity. He felt her shivering in fear and patted her back to make her feel better. "Mizuho, it's alright. You're ok." He wanted to change the channel but the remote was on the table and he wouldn't be able to get it with how he was at the moment and phasing through her to get it didn't feel right. He figured that he should just hold her till the movie was over.
And so they sat there till the movie ended with the final survivor escaping the horror by a hair's breadth. But even when the credits ended, Mizuho didn't let go of Danny as she was still slightly scared.
Danny looked down at her and tried to think of a way to make her feel better. Looking around, he saw the box of sweets she was munching on for a dessert/snack during the movie. He was fortunate that it was within reach and grabbed it. He pulled out one of the chocolate-covered cookie sticks and held it to be visible to her. "Here. This should make you feel better." He smiled as he saw her reach out and take it before eating it, though she didn't move from where she was. When he saw that she was done with one, he brought out another one and gave it to her so she could do it again. He looked at the TV to see that the credits ended and they began to play another movie. He shrugged and just chose to watch some of the movie since Mizuho didn't seem to want to move. They continued this little routine with the sweets with Danny taking one himself so he could try it. It wasn't that big of a treat but he can't complain about it. He looked at the box and read the name on it. "Pocky." He figured that this was the sweet that Mizuho said her father enjoyed and he could see how someone could like it. 'I hope you really do get the chance to find out more about the planet that your dad came from.'
The two just sat there as it grew late.
~Later~
Marie came floating down from upstairs as he wondered where Mizuho was. It was very late and he knew that she would already be asleep at this hour. When he came down, he saw light coming from the living room and floated over to see if Mizuho was there. Seeing a figure sitting on the couch, he floated around to see who it was and paused at the sight. For a few seconds, he stared at the sight before he turned around and moved to the TV. He pressed the button to turn it off before leaving the room to go back to sleep, leaving the two where they were.
Danny had fallen asleep and fell onto the couch to be in a lying position but when he did, his arms were still around Mizuho, and had taken her with him as she had also fallen asleep. Now the two were asleep on the couch with Danny holding onto Mizuho.
The woman slept with a small happy smile on her face.
Marie floated back to his spot before looking at the calendar that was hanging on the wall, with the upcoming week highlighted with a couple of words written there.
"Spirit Week"
Meanwhile, in Danny's bag, the thermos sat forgotten.
"Hello? Anyone out there?"
End of chapter
(1) "That's why I wanted to come to Earth. I wanted to know about the planet my father was born on."
The ringing in Danny's ears was a sign of a ghostly ability that he didn't know he had. And he didn't realize that he understood her.
I wasn't sure if I should add that last joke but in the end, I added it.
Not much happened in this chapter apart from building up on the two's relationship. I used some typical anime tropes but not too much. There is also some foreshadowing for several future events I planned.
I'm still trying to think of ways for Mizuho to help Danny more than just studying but I'm coming up short. I have a few ideas but they are still in the storyboarding phase.
Also thinking of a way to give Danny a better outfit but I might just stick with the hazmat
One weird thing I found about the anime; Mizuho mentions that the space trip that led her father to meet her mother was around 2009. With Mizuho being 23 years of age, that would make the year the anime takes place, at best 2032. Yet the Earth tech used in the anime is so far behind where we are right now, in 2023. Just something that stuck out to me.
Hope you enjoyed this simple fic and look forward to the next one and the other crossover Danny Phantom fics I have planned. Also please check out my recent Danny Phantom fics, such as a betrayal fic with a different outcome to how Danny handles it, my Overlord X Danny Phantom fic, and a Mer-Danny fic I started.
They are named "Consequences", "Phantom Lord", and "world unseen." respectively. Head to my profile to check them out.
The Fanfic site is being weird again so I can't see if a fic is being read or not so favoriting or following is a good tell that they are.
Happy Birthday, Naruto!
