The ringing of Nick's phone jolted him out of his thoughts. DB had wrapped up his scene and wanted to know if Nick needed any help, and if he had found contact information for Grissom. Nick declined the assistance, and said he had yet to find any useful contact info. He mentioned the medications, and after a moment's pause, admitted that he thought Sara may have been depressed. DB made some murmured sounds of agreement, having noticed that Sara had been appearing unwell. He was on his way back to the lab, and said he would try to look up Sara's emergency contact information at work, and maybe ask Ecklie if someone would have had Grissom's number somewhere on file as previous employee. The two men stayed on the phone in silence for a moment, but were interrupted by a beep indicating Nick had another call. A moment later, Nick was talking to Brass who had somehow made it to the hospital in record time and was waiting for news about Sara. The doctors wanted to know if Nick had found anything, so he shared the names of the prescriptions he had found in her nightstand and allowed Brass to relay the information.
"How is she?" Nick asked cautiously.
"She's still unconscious. They've got her hooked up to a couple IVs and a ton of monitors, but no one's really saying anything. No sign of a head injury, so that's good." Brass explained as his voice trailed off. "They don't seem to have any answers yet, though." He admitted, and Nick heard an uncharacteristic crack to his voice.
"Do you know how to get in touch with Grissom?" Nick asked hesitantly. "He's got her medical power of attorney. Not that we need it right now, but he should know she's in hospital. I mean, he would want to be here." Nick stumbled over his words.
"No, I haven't heard from him in over a year now. I think Sara said he was somewhere down in Peru last time she mentioned him?" Brass answered, frustrated with himself and his friend for not keeping in touch. "Check her cell phone, maybe his number is saved there."
"I haven't seen her phone." Nick realised with surprise that despite Archie saying it was at her house, it hadn't turned up with his searching. "Ask if maybe it was with her when she came in?" Nick suggested. He opened his mouth to ask if Brass knew about the divorce paperwork, but changed his mind. If they hadn't spoken in over a year, obviously Grissom wouldn't have mentioned it to him. He heard Brass asking someone about Sara's phone, and waited for him to finish. "I guess I better call Greg. It's his day off, but he'd want to know. Do you know if she had family, or anyone else we should call?"
"Her dad died when she was young. And her mom... Sara doesn't talk about her much. No siblings or extended family that I know of. Grissom once mentioned that Sara was alone in the world before she came here so I don't know, but I don't think she really had anyone except the team." Brass explained. "I don't remember seeing anyone but us visit her when she was in hospital after..." he trailed off, both of them remembering Sara's abduction.
"You're right, I didn't think of that. After my, uh... I had my parents and siblings and a lot of family visit. But I don't remember ever seeing Sara with anyone other than the team." Nick was sad to realise that aside from them, she may not really have anyone else. "Look, I think I've gone through things here and there's nothing I can see that indicates what might have happened." Nick continued, hesitating to tell Brass what he had found. "I'm coming to the hospital now. I'll bring the meds I found and her health insurance and stuff. Hopefully she'll wake up soon and can tell us what happened."
"OK, I'll see you soon." Brass sighed. "Looks like the doctors might have an update for me. Maybe we'll have some answers soon."
Nick looked at his phone after Brass hung up. DB had sent a text that he would call Greg and notify the rest of the team. Sara had no family. There wasn't anyone else to contact. He stared at his phone for a moment, and then sent Catherine a text, asking her to call him when she was free. He hadn't seen her in months, but still considered her part of the team. She would want to know. Even though her friendship with Sara was rocky at times, the two women cared about each other. He continued to stare at his phone, wondering what to do next. He didn't want to invade Sara's privacy even more than he already had, but he didn't want to miss something that may be important. Another sweep of the house didn't reveal anything of interest. The garbage cans were empty aside from a few tissues in one. The house barely looked lived in. He grabbed the paperwork he had found and headed to the car.

I'm also still looking for a beta - I hope that the grammar and spelling are sufficient but also after someone to bounce ideas off of. No idea how long this will end up but at 25 chapters written so far, it will likely be double that.
