A/N: HII y'all! KN here! How are you doing?
SO I was watching Youtube, and a Disney Channel recommendation came up and it was about Felix 'saving' Kagami. Well, I quit Miraculous after Ladynoir became a friend-zoned ship, only watching episodes that seemed interesting. I had watched Pretension only because my friend said that episode was really interesting. I really loved the Feligami.
Now for y'all who have no clue what I'm talking about, lemme just get straight to the point: Felix's quote really struck a cord in me. I love how he says it with such passion and I couldn't help but think about Cyrus Borg and Pixal in Sunnylighter's third fic in her The Grass Is Always Greener series called In Need of Polish.
I'm taking my sweet time reading that fic (currently on Chapter 19) due to the fact that I have a Ninjago fic I need to finish. (sorry y'all! Abused is taking its sweet time to complete 😅)
Anyways, the point is I sat down and wrote this fic in one sitting! (Yay, me! Fourth time doing this)
So here it is, ENJOY!
"When you bring a living being into this world, you have a responsibility towards them. Your duty is to protect them, love them, help them to discover the true meaning of their existence. To deprive them of that is monstrous." -Felix Fathom to Kagami Tsurugi
Cyrus Borg was worried.
His beautiful daughter, who was the definition of perfect, was acting- well, strange would be a strong word, but it seemed to fit best.
After Dr. Julien's beloved son, Zane, had saved her, she was acting… off. Making mistakes was something Pixal never had done before, always trying to strive for efficiency, but all day she was making mistakes. Having distant looks on her face, getting lost in thought, seeming very distracted- all of these behaviors were starting to concern him. So instead of spiraling into confusion and worry, he decided to just ask her.
"Pixal, are you alright? You have been making errors that are so unlike you. You weren't hurt during the accident yesterday, were you?" Pixal blinked, looking a little started before finally answering, "No, I am undamaged."
Okay. That was good. "Then what seems to be the problem?" Hesitation flashed across her demeanor. "You can tell me anything, Pixal," he said softly, sensing her distress. "I created you, and know you better than anyone. I'd be happy to listen to whatever you feel is wrong."
She paused for a moment before finally admitting. "I am… confused. Yesterday, Zane saved my life, even though doing so would put himself at risk. I cannot understand why he would do such."
Cyrus blinked. That was not what he had thought she was going to say. "Why wouldn't he?" he asked slowly.
"With his elemental abilities, he is important. However, I am not important," she replied. Cyrus jolted in shock, staring at his beautiful girl in undisguised disbelief. "You created me," she continued, oblivious to his inner turmoil. "And gave me life. If something should happen to me, you could do so again with a newer model."
He stared, unable to believe what his little girl had said. "Oh, Pixal," he whispered, voice cracking as he tried to find the words. "I- you-... I never wanted you to feel like this."
What had he done to make her feel this way towards herself?
"Like what?" Pixal asked bewildered, which only made Cyrus' heart break even more. "Like you are replaceable because you most certainly are not," he responded earnestly.
Pixal only blinked. "Was I made with some rare component I was not aware of?"
He stared, feeling like a complete failure. He buried his face into his hands. "Cyrus?" she asked, her voice laced with concern and regret.
He took a deep breath and looked up at her, expression growing serious. "Pixal, when I say you are not replaceable, I do not mean your body. I mean you are not replaceable. Yes, I could build another assistant android, but I wouldn't because he or she would not be you!"
She just stared at him. "I do not understand."
Cyrus sighed. "Think about it this way." he tried. "You have met both Zane and Echo now. Two Nindroids of a similar design and built by the same man. Disregarding their mechanics and parts. If you were to talk to them without ever seeing them, would you say Zane is the same as Echo? Or that Echo is an exact copy of Zane?"
Please understand, he thought to himself.
"No," she said, shaking her head. "They are quite different. Echo is very shy and seems a bit immature, while Zane is calmer, kind, and seems very friendly."
"And if he were able to pass on his powers if something were to happen to Zane, do you think Echo could take his place? Do you think the rest of the Ninja would accept him as the 'New Zane' and carry on as such?" he asked, trying to get his point across.
Pixal paused, a frown on her lips as he thought about what he had asked. "No, I do not believe so. From what I have seen of the Ninja during their visit, they treat the two very different and are very fond of both, but in different ways. Even Dr. Julien treated them differently, caring for both of them, but not as if they were the same droid."
"And what about you?" Cyrus asked. "Would you accept him as a replacement for the Nindroid who saved your life?"
"No," she replied again. "I would not want him in Zane's place."
Good, she was understanding. "Echo can not replace Zane, and the same would hold true the other way around, and Zane could not replace Echo should something happen to him," Cyrus continued. He paused for a moment to let the words sink in before he looked up at her square in the eyes and firmly said, "So why would you believe that I could replace you so easily, Pixal?"
Pixal froze, her emerald-green eyes wide as she realized the implications of his statement. "The answer is, I cannot," Cyrus answered. He pulled up the blueprints he had used to make his beautiful daughter. "I may have used these plans to bring you to life, but now that you are here, your life is your own. Your opinion matters and I want you to do things that will make you happy."
"You… really want that for me?" she asked, hesitantly, as if she didn't believe him.
Cyrus let himself smile softly. "Of course. It's what any parent would want." She looked up at him, understanding displayed all over her visage.
And then she smiled. A soft, small smile. But it was real. It was genuine. Not a fake, plastic one. No. It was a real smile that danced on her lips.
And Cyrus couldn't help but feel proud. Proud of who his daughter was, because despite the fact that he had created her, he loved her. Not because she was a successful android who was built by himself, but loved her for who she really was.
His beautiful daughter.
His little girl.
Pixal.
A/N: And then Pythor ruins the moment completely. LOL. (If you've read the fic, then you'll understand)
Well, here it is. Hope y'all enjoyed! I really love Sunnylighter's fics! She really is amazing at writing!
Anyways, that's all for now! And note: I have NOT abandoned Abused: (the world falls away)! I'm still working on Chapter 2. Sorry, it's taking so long. I'm just really busy. 😩
*glares at my homework and upcoming tests*
I hope y'all are having a good day! Feel free to comment, but please, please use CLEAN and APPROPRIATE language. And always remember that God loves you, I love you, and JESUS IS LORD!
