Lloyd was alone in the monastery. It had been a long day, training Arin and Sora in the morning, and visiting his parents in the evening. A lot of change had happened since the Merge, but Lloyd could feel…something new bubbling up inside him. Every time Kai would dump his chores onto Lloyd, or every time Zane would tell him about something that need fixing, he felt something he hadn't felt in a very long time. Or when he spotted Harumi, and she had attempted to flirt with him. What had he felt then? It certainly wasn't love. Lloyd had just felt annoyed and upset. Now, alone in the shadows, he crept into the room that all the ninja's shared. They had left him for a festival. They hadn't even asked if he was ok with staying, and now, he was all alone.
"Are you sure you don't want to ask Lloyd?" Nya had asked.
"It'll be fine." Said Kai, grabbing his stuff. "He said he had a bunch of work to do anyway, so he wouldn't be able to come even if he wanted to."
"Yeah, he was complaining about it during training, if you can even call it that." Sora said.
"All he does is talk, and make us do the same drills over and over again." Arin said. That truely broke Lloyd's heart, Arin and him had become close and for him to say something like that- he was like a son to Lloyd.
"Sounds like you guys need a break, huh?" Cole had asked.
"Totally." Replied Sora, "but maybe don't tell him? He's probably gonna lecture us about the ways of a ninja and why we shouldn't sneak out."
"He's always done that. Anyway, I'm sure he'll be fine. He hasn't even done the laundry yet." Kai had said.
"I thought that was your job Kai?" Nya said suspiciously.
"Uh, he said he would do it for me. For, know 'Practice.' "
Practice? The feeling was burning in his chest, but it felt good.
He slipped off his boots and gloves, as well as his shirt. He gently touched the scars on his chests and reminded himself that he could never let that happen again. Lloyd knew that he didn't need to, but keeping to the darkness just felt so…good.
He lifted himself up and into the cellar like when he stole the traveler's tea from Master Wu all those years ago. Stealing had always been his speciality, as well as lock picking. When the him and the other Ninja had been in tight spots, all he did was pick the locks and they'd be free. The beam creaked under his weight and he shifted onto all fours, crawling inhumanly.
"That's the son of Garmadon? Pfft, what a failure!"
"No parents to raise you, no friends to cry with."
"What a joke! That kids the green ninja? Well, better pack my bags. He's not saving anyone."
Lloyd went faster, clawing his nails into the wood.
"You failed me."
"You aren't my son."
"You can't do anything right."
He leapt off the wood and onto the couch, landing in the back board. He ripped the backing and threw it across the room. Why did destroying something like that feel so good? He looked around for the board of photos that the ninja kept. He stood up and walked towards it. Lloyd, gently unpinned the photo of him and his father, carefully holding it in his palm.
"I have no son."
He watched as he slowly burnt the corner of the photo with his elemental abilities.
"You must never-"
"Shut up." He whispered. "Just shut up." His fire became a bright purple, but he didn't jump back in fear like he did with Garmadon.
"You're not my father. You're not anything to me…not anymore."
He smiled wickedly as the photo went up in flames, before sweeping the remains under the carpet.
