This drabble series is dedicated to Motroshell, who wanted a ShikaHina story. I told her it might be weird but she said it was okay.

This is my reward for working on my original novel. :)

Each chapter will be a drabble length of 250-500 words. If that's not your thing, I understand, no hard feelings.

Enjoy.

Hinata recognized the chakra of the other nin immediately. She might be retired, but she still retained her knowledge. While only a genin, she still knew enough to identify the sharp feel of trained chakra sliding against her own.

The foreign ninja felt strong and unlike any of the nin on the daimyo's guard. Why was he hidden in the palace courtyard?

Hinata glanced at her minders. The older women were her maids. They were supposed to teach her how to be a concubine, and how to please her future husband.

But they tended to ignore her. Right now, they focused on their embroidery and gossiping about the drama in the kitchens. They did not think to watch the quiet child in the corner.

It burned at Hinata. She was a warrior. Her calluses were from taijutsu and hot chakra wire, not from threading needles.

However, that would be her life soon. It would be palace politics and running a household instead of going on missions and polishing weapons.

A hot stab of embarrassment and anger brought tears to her eyes. She sniffed before firming her jaw.

Don't think about it, she told herself. Focus on what's happening now.

She needed to find this nin. They could potentially be dangerous.

Hinata did not need chakra to sneak around and be invisible. She could handle this problem.

With one last look at the women behind her, she slipped off the porch and lost herself in the foliage of the Royal Gardens.
