Why Issei is a Bad Protagonist
There are many reasons why he is a bad protagonist. I have seen so many people think I cuck the dude when I kill. Is it so hard to fucking understand I suck at writing perverted characters? Apparently, it is so I have to explain here so don't complain if I mute your reviews, you have my reasoning.
#1: Issei is meant to be an ordinary guy sucked into a wilder world.
This seems innocent enough but when Issei is killed by Raynare on his date because of God Giving a Sacred Gear it feels like poor luck right except it isn't. Sacred Gears have many, many users worldwide so it is rarer to see someone without Power thus far in DxD or any Sacred Gear or Supernatural Heritage than normies. Issei is born with a Longius and there are only 13 of these. Some may say that he is a lucky random dude but in DxD when every historical figure seemed to have a Sacred Gear Issei loses his normaly for a chosen archetype quickly.
Then you'd think something as innocent as his father praying at a Shinto Shrine so that Miki, Issei's mother can deliver him safely as they had two stillborn or miscarriages seem relatable and it is until you remember that Gods from every Mythology exist and it means a Shinto God spared him. So now he is more a chosen hero than his intended archetype but also has some gods to make sure he is born. This doesn't feel relatable to me at all and that is how hero from media get their fans. It doesn't make him bad but again we have our taste and preference and I already can't connect with his intended goal because he isn't what he is set out to do.
#2: His Perversion is taken too high.
Every Shonen Hero has the tropes of being a well-intended dumbass who eats a lot or a fucking pervert. The thing is Peverted Characters were fine in the 90s when Sexuality was taboo in general but Issei's and his two buddies peep and take fucking pictures of girls their age. By the Issei and his 2 buddies are minors so those pictures make them CP. Every fucking Teenager is horny, we know that but there is a limit to being a stalking peeping tom that calls out Rias, ignores her plights, and gets her nicknamed the Switch Princess for a power-up.
Hell when Vali threatened to kill his Parent, Issei was angry but not as much as when Azazel explained that Half Dimension would have Rias and Akeno booy sises and he suddenly was able to overpower Vali. Again your parents are threatened and it's mild anger, but boobs are threatened and it's like Vali did genocide.
Issei openly drools at Riser's harem but Riser and Rias are forced to marry because there aren't many pureblooded Devils. Issei wants Rias in his Harem and even screams at her wedding that her Virginity is his but somehow Riser is hated but he gets a pass. Riser may be a douchebag but both are having a harem so Issei in Vol 2 gets chummy with Lucifer. This is like if Goku befriended Beerus as a kid when he was still adventuring with young Bulma. This is absurd and BS plot armor.
Some may say that he is a good guy but let's look at the the other major douchebags we know.
Riser wanted the same thing as Issei but the problem was that Issei called dibs on Rias before even he was made aware.
Diodora, one of the biggest scum pretends to be wounded to get healed by nuns and then break them into his peerage and rape them.
Rizevim Von Lucifer aka the guy Vali wants to kill who later unleashes fucking 666 aka Trihexa.
Issei is only a good guy because there are worse guys out there in DxD and he has the Boosted gear whose Draconic Aura makes women attracted to him. Without Ddraig Issei is nothing, hell most of his Harem suffer from tropes so he can get laid.
Rias has Hero Worship from her forced wedding that she had 12 years to prepare and did fuck all.
Asia has Hero Worship from being saved by Issei and being her first friend.
Koneko who despised perverts sucks him off because he helped her Sister which she supposedly hates.
Irina the classic childhood friend whom Issei never saw as a girl until her return and always loved him.
Xenovia the hypergamist slut who wants him because he has Ddraig to give him Strong Children.
Rossweiss the 100-year-old Virgin Valkyrie is also a hopeless romantic.
That is just to name a few and guess what the supernatural is supposed to have infiltrated the humans aka they are supposed to act like humans aka expelled predators like Issei, Motohama, and Matsuda but nope let's bend the setting for this deviant. The problem isn't his sexuality but that the setting's own lore and logic bends the rule so this dude can grope titties.
Go ahead, I dare you to peep as Issei did and see where that gets you IRL, Also for those who defend him saying he has his moments, I do know that but you are also defending a sexual deviant/predator like Issei which means you would defend Volt from Kuroinu or Makoto from school days. it is not a matter of getting laid but there is being a horny teenager and being worthy to be on Catch a Predator by Chris Hanson
#3: Issei barely trains.
I will say that the only time he trained was with Tannin but other than that Issei doesn't. 3 minutes of sparring is not training. It is a light exercise and this shows. Again he doesn't train, Im sorry but push-ups even woN't matter because unless Issei sees boobs he won't train.
this to me makes me not like him even more as he can technically covert part of his body into a dragon so if he a boost he can sell his soul to Ddraig
To me, I can't support him and I would rather kill Issei than write him poorly. He isn't a protagonist I can give my full support. Nothing Issei has resonates with me as a reader or viewer if you are one of those. Issei has flaws like anything else but hatred isn't the main issue. I won't write a character if I can't do it.
Some think it's for the girls, but please In Dark Elf Queen Blood Knight, Book III Eostian King, and more I will cuck him. No hell I have the chapters ready and Naoto actually friendzone Rias hard. Sorry, even Roxas will stay single even if the ORC girls will want him and Xion is his only love. Again I wrote Volt and co because I had no choice but with Issei if I remove him early then I don't have to force him and make him OOC.
Hell in the Dark Elf Queen Blood Knight fic, I wrote Issei dying like a fucking giga chad against Riser and cancel the wedding. He died a hero and this is considered bashing.

You don't feel pity as you claim, you feel hatred because someone called you out on Issei, I said many times to PM me before doing a shit review but you always come back here because you love reading fic you hate because you want a fucking argument because you don't like that somewhere in your heart where I twisted the Keybalde that I'm right so deal with it.
you can block authors and not see their stories but I guess that would be too much so you still search for them to hate on because it is the only thing making feel accepted and loved.
