August 28, 1976 - Potter Manor

Hermione couldn't help but keep fidgeting every time the clock drew near to noon. She was very nervous about meeting Sirius and James. Yes, everything is escalating far too quickly. She had been living at Potter Manor since August 20 after meeting Henry and Charlus at Hogwarts. She couldn't fathom how Professor Dumbledore had managed to convince the Potter Patriarchs to meet her. Besides, it had never occurred to her that she would be able to convince the headmaster and employ the help of the Potter family.

When she arrived at Hogsmeade the day of her sceduled meeting with the Headmaster, Hagrid fetched her and led her inside Hogwarts. To her utter confusion, the Potter Patriarchs are there with the Headmaster and they are already discussing her predicament.

She was shocked by the enthusiasm of the eldest Potter, Henry Potter. He steered and weaved the whole story without reservation about Hermione's ancestry. They only knew that she was a time traveler from the '90s, a member of the Order of the Phoenix, a Muggle-born, and was trying to find her way back to her own time. Hermione was suspicious, but she didn't voice it out loud.

Mr. Potter told her that she would be a long-lost relative of theirs, the granddaughter of Mr. Henry's uncle, Albert Victor Fleamont. It turned out that just last year, a son of Mr. Fleamont, Hector Albert, had approached Mr. Henry asking for assistance with the medical attention of his only son who had contracted dragon pox. However, because the disease had no cure yet, they were only able to prolong the child's life, but he later succumbed to death. Mr. Hector contracted the same disease thereafter and met the same fate. They decided to let the information slip to the media so that her cover would be strong. A blood ritual would also be done to make her a member of the family just in case some people questioned her ancestry. Hermione was slightly appalled and almost reasoned out that she was proud to be a Muggle-born, but she decided to bite her tongue. It would be best not to lay all her cards. She asked if it was a form of dark arts, but the eldest Potter assured her that it was nothing but an assurance to keep her cover. She would have said no, but obviously, she said yes in the end because she couldn't really do anything about it.

She felt so awkward looking at the three older men planning and discussing her cover-up story, saying it as if she wasn't there. Of course, she didn't just sit there letting them decide her life. Thus, when they asked her to share what happened in the future, she happily retorted that it was none of their bloody business, and she almost told them to sod off. Yes, it was not very mature, and looking back, it was outrightly disrespectful. But, surprisingly, the eldest Potter just chuckled and told her that it was very wise of her not to share anything because they still didn't know if her arrival was an accident or orchestrated. Of course, she questioned what the eldest Potter meant, but he didn't elaborate. She expected that answer, though.

After the meeting, she was instructed by Henry to go with them to the Potter's manor to be introduced to Dorea. Also, he asked her for a favor to call him uncle. (As he didn't want to feel so old at 94) The old man was just so sweet. Henry was full of humor. Charlus Fleamont Potter, on the other hand, was quite stern, but she could feel that he was approachable. She felt like she could depend on him. He reminded her of her father.

Later, Dumbledore approached Hermione with a concerned expression. "Hermione, you've found yourself in quite an extraordinary situation. I assure you, we're doing everything we can to ensure your safety and help you return to your own time."

Hermione nodded, feeling a bit more reassured. "I appreciate your support, Professor Dumbledore. It's all so overwhelming, but I'm willing to cooperate."

Henry then turned to Hermione, his eyes showing a hint of concern. "Hermione, we know this is a lot to take in, but your safety is paramount to us. We'll do whatever it takes to protect you."

Charlus added, "And you can trust that we'll treat you as family, Hermione. You're not alone in this."

Hermione, still somewhat overwhelmed, managed a grateful smile. "Thank you, all of you. I'll do my best to adapt to this... unexpected situation."

Dumbledore nodded in approval, "Very well, Hermione. We'll be by your side through this journey, every step of the way."

August 28, 1976 – Lupin Cottage

"Prongs! Prongs have you seen this?" Sirius shouted swinging a newspaper while running towards his friends. James Charlus Potter, Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black are at the house of Remus John Lupin to spend their summer. The quartets are having their morning brunch under a mahogany tree just outside the cottage of the Lupins.

"Mate you had a cousin! And this letter arrived with the newspaper." Sirius said while handing to him the newspaper and the letter. The other boys hovered above James trying to read the headline.

"Long Lost Fleamont Heiress Surfaces! Fleamont? She's related to you?" Peter asked.

Sirius beat James in answering. "Yes. Its written here Wormtail. She some kind of second cousin or something of Prongs."

"Do you know these Prongs?" Remus asked.

James did not bother to listen to the bickering of his friends instead focuses to the contents of the news. "I... I didn't know. They didn't tell me." James whispered and opened the letter.

Dear Jamie,

Son, you might have read the newspaper today. Yes everything you read there are true. Sorry if we decided to keep you in the dark these past few days. We just want to shield you and Sirius from any pres. You know how those vultures like to paint fiction. Besides, we need to make sure she is really a family. I still don't know how that witch Rita Skeeter got hold of the information regarding Hermione. Oh, don't worry. She's a lovely girl and I know you'll like her. Her name is Hermione Helen and she's about your age. Your grandfather Henry is so taken with her. I'm writing this to forewarn you that your Father decided to transfer her here permanently. We cannot abandon a Family you know that Jamie. So, sorry but you and Sirius need you come home right away. We want her to be introduced to you. Send my love to Remus and Peter. Also, please thank Mr. and Mrs Lupin for accommodating you.

I hope you've been a good boy.

Love,

Mom

The boys stared to each other and place a comforting hand over James shoulder. "Oh no need to sulk mate!" Sirius said.

"Yes. Beside we can't blame your grandfather and uncle Charlus to hush-hush the situation. It is an adult business anyway." Remus supplied.

"Look at the bright side Prongs. We spend this summer not being bothered by parental concern." Peter said while smiling.

"Yeah. If you exclude my mom morning alarm you're basically right." Remus replied while giving Peter a playful glare.

The Marauders laugh. During noon, Sirius and James decided to take their lunch in Potter Manor. They said goodbye to the Lupin Family and Peter. By that, they went home via floo travel.

The grandeur of the Potter Manor's dining room was nothing short of breathtaking. A long, polished mahogany table was set for dinner, adorned with fine china and silverware. Hermione, wearing a midnight blue Victorian gown that Mrs. Potter had insisted upon, sat with an air of grace. She felt the weight of expectation on her shoulders as she waited for the arrival of James Charlus Potter and Sirius Orion Black.

Moments later, the air in the room seemed to shift, and the whoosh of the Floo Network signaled their arrival. "We're home!" announced a young man with glasses, looking strikingly similar to Harry Potter, as he stepped out of the fireplace. He was accompanied by a much younger version of Sirius, who was busy dusting the remaining Floo powder from his robes.

Hermione stood and made herself visible, her eyes fixed on the newcomers. With a polite and practiced ladylike demeanor, she greeted them, "Hello, you must be James Charlus Potter and Sirius Orion Black."

James and Sirius, both taken aback by her presence, looked at her in awe for a moment. She cleared her throat, and James spoke, "Bloody Hell!" Sirius immediately smacked him on the arm.

"Ehem. Hello. Yes, I'm James, and this is my friend Sirius... Who might you be?" he asked, still a bit dazed by her sudden appearance.

"Oh! Sorry! I'm Hermione Gr.. hmmm. Fleamont. You can call me Hermione." She extended her hand to James, who awkwardly shook it, then offered her hand to Sirius.

"Is it me, or is this interaction bloody awkward?" Sirius couldn't help but snort as he grabbed her hand and gallantly kissed her knuckles. "Pleasant noon, my lady. I am Sirius Black, and the awkward fella there is your cousin, James Potter. I'm very delighted to finally meet you, my lady."

Hermione cringed slightly at Sirius's playful flirtation. She gently pulled her hand away and maintained her smile. "You must be famished. I'm sorry if I startled you. Let's go to the dining room. Cousin Dorea instructed me to wait for you guys here." With that, she smiled once more and proceeded to the dining room, with James and Sirius trailing behind.

As they took their seats at the grand table, Mrs. Potter greeted them warmly, "Oh darling, you're here! Sit, Jamie, Sirius." She beckoned them to take their seats, and Hermione found herself sitting across from James, who was flanked by his father, Charlus, and Sirius.

Dinner was served, and they began to enjoy their meal. Charlus then turned the conversation toward Hermione, addressing the two boys, "I believe both of you are already forewarned by your mother that Hermione will be staying here."

"Yes, Dad," both James and Sirius replied in unison.

Charlus continued, "I believe Hermione will be accompanying you to Hogwarts. Her transfer has already been finalized, and she'll be starting with you on September first."

James, ever curious, inquired, "Are you going to Hogwarts, then?"

Hermione nodded with a smile. "Yes, I'll be attending Hogwarts, and I believe the sorting hat ceremony will decide which house I'll join."

"Well, I hope it's Gryffindor. That way, we can be in the same house," James chimed in.

Hermione grinned at the thought but wanted to manage expectations. "I hope so too, but we'll have to see what the hat decides."

Sirius, ever the optimist, joined the conversation. "Oh, don't get your hopes up, boys. After all, Fleamonts are a Slytherin family."

Both James and Sirius gaped in surprise. "No need to worry, lads," Henry reassured them, "I was almost sorted into Slytherin myself, but I asked the sorting hat to place me in Gryffindor instead."

"Grandpa!" James and Sirius exclaimed, slightly scandalized.

"Sorting is supposed to be a secret!" James added.

"Yeah, it's a rite of passage, Gramps," Sirius contributed with a grin.

Henry chuckled heartily. "Oh, please forgive this old man. Besides, Hermione is already sorted."

Both boys' eyes widened, and they chorused, "What house were you sorted into?"

"Ravenclaw," Hermione replied.

Sirius gave a cheeky remark, "Well, that's better than Slytherin, at least."

Mrs. Potter intervened with a gentle reminder, "There's still a Slytherin at this table, Sirius."

Hermione couldn't help but be curious and asked, "Do you know why your family wanted you to be sorted into Gryffindor instead of Slytherin?"

Charlus sighed and answered, "Let's just say that the Potters and the Blacks have a long history with certain houses, and Gryffindor seemed the better choice for our family."

The dinner table was filled with laughter and lively conversation as they discussed their upcoming journey to Hogwarts and their family histories. The bond between Hermione, James, and Sirius was beginning to form, setting the stage for new adventures and challenges in their shared world of magic.

Hermione's life at the Potter residence was becoming more intriguing by the day, with each new encounter revealing layers of the family's history and dynamics.

On this particular day, she found herself in the living room with James and Sirius, who were playfully trying to extract information about her life before meeting the Potters. Hermione skillfully evaded their questions, but their focus shifted to the stack of letters she had received.

Sirius, with a mischievous grin, playfully opened one of the letters and discovered it was a marriage proposal. Hermione's fury became evident, and she expressed her disdain for these purebloods who presumed to ask for her hand in marriage. "These inbreeding scumbags!" she muttered, crumpling one of the letters.

The boys couldn't help but find her reaction amusing, and their laughter filled the room. James, still chuckling, picked up another letter and began to read it aloud. "Greetings, my Lady, as the head of the Noble House of Rosier," he began, earning a dramatic eye roll from Hermione.

"As if I'd ever consider that," she huffed.

Sirius chimed in, "It's as if they all attended the same 'How to Propose to a Witch' class."

James, keeping a straight face, continued, "My only son, Evan Rosier, is on his sixth year in Hogwarts."

"The same Evan Rosier who hexed you with boils, mate!" Sirius quipped.

Hermione, however, wanted to know more about Sirius and his family's disownment, so she decided to shift the conversation. "Sirius, James, I know we've only just met, but I can't help but wonder about your family, Sirius. The newspapers portray you in a certain light, but I have a feeling there's more to the story. Would you mind sharing?"

The boys exchanged a glance, and James gave Sirius a supportive pat on the back. They decided to leave Hermione alone with Sirius for this personal conversation.

Sirius gave a wink and a nod, saying, "I'm not usually one for emotional conversations, but I can tell you this: I'm happier now than I've ever been. But don't worry, Hermione, we'll get to know each other better, and I'll tell you more when the time is right."

Hermione smiled, appreciating the start of their deeper connection. "Thank you, Sirius. It's a good beginning."

Just then, James appeared from behind the door, saying, "Hey, how did you know I was lurking here?"

Hermione grinned. "A Lady doesn't tell her secrets." copying the posh tone of Mrs. Potter.

James and Sirius laughed, and their conversation continued, bringing them closer and building trust among this newly formed trio.
