Chapter 4 – Mytilene & Petra
The wake up call dragged Santana from sleep.
"Make it stop, Saaan," Brittany whined, pulling a pillow over her head.
Santana chuckled and answered the phone. "Thank you," before turning to her girlfriend. "Time to get up Britt-Britt. We're going on the glass bottom boat today."
Brittany grunted.
"I'm going to get showered and dressed so you have twenty minutes." She kissed Brittany's shoulder and went to get in the shower.
Twenty minutes later she stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her and laughed at the sight before her; Brittany was mostly still in bed but she had one foot on the floor. "Britt, honey, I applaud your effort but you're going to have to do better than that if you want time for breakfast before we leave." Santana grabbed a beach bag and tossed in sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, underwear and bras (in case they stopped somewhere after the tour), two towels and two cover-ups. She also made sure to put in Brittany's video and still cameras.
"Wear your suit under your clothes, babe."
Brittany looked at her. "Since when are you a morning person?"
"Since my amazing girlfriend expressed an interest in the glass bottom boat tour. So, you need to get up and get showered and dressed so we can have breakfast and make it to Petra in time for launch."
Brittany smiled and got out of bed. She gave Santana's cheek a soft kiss as she walked past her to the bathroom.
Thirty minutes later they were downstairs enjoying the complimentary breakfast and several cups of coffee before heading out. They grabbed two to-go cups of coffee and drove off.
Xoxoxoxoxo
They arrived at Petra with twenty minutes to spare. Santana paid their fares and they got aboard with five other people; Bill and Stephanie (who were on their honeymoon), Greg, Delia, and their ten-year-old son, Trevor.
Bill kept glancing at Santana and frowning. He whispered to Stephanie who looked over and she frowned in concentration as well. Santana wasn't thrilled but she tamed her inner Snixx and ignored it.
The trip was leisurely and Santana had to grin at Brittany's excitement at the amount of sea life they saw through the bottom of the boat. She pulled on Santana's arm every time something new appeared. Brittany and Trevor really hit it off with both of them exhibiting such a wondrous exuberance that everyone was smiling. Brittany's mega-watt smile enchanted the entire group and, Brittany being Brittany, they all became fast friends.
"That's where I know you from!" Bill exclaimed.
"Excuse me?" Santana looked puzzled
"I'm sorry, I know I've been staring but Steph and I were sure we knew you from somewhere. When Brittany mentioned your names, it clicked. We were at The Aegean Overlook Taverna last night and heard you sing. You were really amazing."
Santana blushed and ducked her head. "Oh, um, thanks."
"We actually made reservations for Friday night so we'd be sure to have a table to see you again." Stephanie said.
"Oh, wow, thank you so much," Santana was flustered at the compliment.
Greg looked over at them. "Where is The Aegean Overlook Taverna?"
"Mytilene," Bill answered.
Greg nodded. "We're staying in Molyvos. I'm sorry we won't be able to see you."
Brittany laughed. "There's a good chance she'll be singing at The Olive Press hotel sometime next week."
"Really?" Delia looked at the two women. "That's where we're staying. Maybe we'll be able to see you." She smiled at them.
"You won't be disappointed," Stephanie said, "she's really talented."
Santana flushed deeper; all this praise and attention was really getting embarrassing.
"Told you so." Brittany sing-songed softly in her ear.
Thankfully, they reached Rabbit Island and the topic changed to what the island offered.
Brittany looked at Santana in question. Santana just grinned as they went ashore and stripped out of their clothes and grabbed the provided snorkels. After snorkeling for about an hour they headed back to shore, slipped on their cover-ups, hats, and sunglasses, and were greeted with a light lunch of feta, tomato, peeled cucumbers (the Captain gave them the peels and told them to feed them to the rabbits; Brittany did another squeal-hop when she heard "feed the rabbits" causing the whole group to laugh), boiled eggs, watermelon, bread, and wine.
After they finished eating, they wandered off to feed the rabbits and explore a little of the island. At one-thirty they headed back to the boat and were back at Petra by two-thirty.
They said goodbye to their new friends and headed off to see what else there was to do before going back to Mytilene.
