Chapter 8 – Mytilene (Friday)
Santana stretched languidly Friday morning, enjoying the familiar ache of having been thoroughly made love to. She rolled over and smiled at Brittany. She was sleeping on her stomach, arms tucked under the pillow, and hair splayed out across her back. Santana reached out and lightly ran her fingers up and down Britt's back before leaning over and pressing soft kisses to her shoulder.
"Mmm …" Britt murmured sleepily as she rolled to her side to face Santana, eyes still closed.
"Good mornin' beautiful
How was your night?
Mine was wonderful
With you by my side
And when I open my eyes
And see your sweet face
It's a good mornin' beautiful day …"
Santana sang softly and watched as Britt's lips curled into a smile and bright blue eyes opened, filled with adoration for the woman by her side.
"Morning. My night was amazing." She leaned up and captured Santana's lips in a soft kiss.
They lied there looking at one another for several long minutes, not feeling the need for words. Santana moved closer and wrapped an arm around Brittany's waist, tucking her head under Brittany's chin as Britt wrapped her arms around the pretty brunette.
"I want to wake up like this forever," Santana whispered softly.
"Me too." Britt kissed the top of Santana's head and Santana felt the smile on Britt's lips.
They dozed on and off for about an hour before they finally got up and started their day.

Santana was surprised by how much she enjoyed the archaeological museums. She had never had a particular interest in history but, for some reason, the artifacts of Mytilene's past fascinated her.
Once again they took their time, wanting to see everything but not wanting to wear Santana out. They held hands as they wandered through the museums and shared soft kisses; not really caring about who was around.
They had lunch at the small cafe just outside the museums before continuing their exploration. Brittany was having an amazing time filming and shooting still shots and Santana was again reminded that there was so much more to Brittany than just dance. Not that she didn't already know that; it was just easy to forget that Brittany loved (and excelled at) more than just dancing and math. She smiled as she remembered her bemusement at finding out Brittany's affinity for languages. Yes, her girl was amazing.
She turned and tugged on Brittany's hand, pulling Britt in close and then kissing her deeply.
"Mmmm … sweet lady kisses in the middle of the day … someone's in a good mood." Brittany smiled at her.
"I was just thinking about how my girl is amazing. And it made it me smile because … you're my girl again and I'm still waiting to wake up and find out I've been dreaming this whole time."
Brittany reached over and pinched her side, causing Santana to yelp.
"Nope. Not dreaming." Brittany grinned and leaned in to capture Santana's lips in another kiss.
"There wasn't another way to prove that?" Santana pouted.
"None I could do in public." Brittany waggled her eyebrows and Santana burst out laughing.
Brittany grinned and they continued on their tour of the museums until four when they decided to go back to the hotel to get ready for the show.

"Hey everyone!" Santana was really nervous tonight. They'd arrived at six-thirty again and the place was already packed. "I hope you're enjoying your evening! I'm Santana Lopez and Spyro has given me this amazing opportunity to sing for you all." There was quite a bit of applause and Santana smiled.
"I performed on Monday night and there were two people here that I then met the next day. They told me they were going to be here tonight. Bill and Stephanie? Where are you?"
Santana grinned as Bill stood up and waved.
"There you are. So, Britt's a ninja," she winked at the blonde, "and she told me a little something about you guys so … this first one's for you, Bill and Stephanie!"
There's a want and there's a need
There's a history between
Girls like her and guys like me
Cowboys and angels
I've got boots and she's got wings
I'm hell on wheels and she's heavenly
I'd die for her and she lives for me
Cowboys and angels
We ride side by side
A cloud of dust, a ray of light
My touch is her temptation
Her kiss is my salvation
She's sweet, I'm wild, we're dangerous
Cowboys and angels
I'm not sure why her path crossed mine
Accident or grand design
Maybe God just kinda likes
Cowboys and angels
We ride side by side
A cloud of dust, a ray of light
My touch is her temptation
Her kiss is my salvation
She's sweet, I'm wild, we're dangerous
Cowboys and angels
There's a want and there's a need
There's a history between
Girls like you and guys like me
Cowboys and angels
Santana smiled as she saw Bill and Stephanie stand up and dance to the sweet song.
The crowd seemed to enjoy it as well; they erupted into cheers as the song came to an end.
"Give Bill and Stephanie another round of applause! Glad you all enjoyed that!."
Santana continued on, singing Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" before bringing Brittany up to sing "Reunited" by Peaches and Herb. She finished out the set with Aretha Franklin's "RESPECT", and Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It" before heading to the table for a short break.

"As promised, I'm back. I wasn't sure about singing this next song; about ten months ago, I made a really big mistake and I sang this song. I decided to sing it tonight, mainly because I really like it and I want to overwrite the bad memory with a good one."
She took at deep breath and started singing:
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
You were in college, working part-time, waiting tables
Left a small town, never looked back
I was a flight risk, with a fear of fallin'
Wondering why we bother with love, if it never lasts
I say, "Can you believe it?"
As we're lyin' on the couch
The moment, I can see it
Yes, yes, I can see it now
Do you remember, we were sittin', there by the water?
You put your arm around me for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing, that's ever been mine
Flash forward, and we're takin' on the world together
And there's a drawer of my things at your place
You learn my secrets and you figure out why I'm guarded
You say we'll never make my parents' mistakes
And we got bills to pay
We got nothin' figured out
When it was hard to take
Yes, yes
This is what I thought about
Do you remember, we were sittin' there, by the water?
You put your arm around me, for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing, that's ever been mine
Do you remember all the city lights on the water?
You saw me start to believe, for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing, that's ever been mine
Oh, oh, oh, oh
And I remember that fight, two-thirty am
'Cause everything was slipping right out of our hands
I ran out, crying, and you followed me out into the street
Braced myself for the goodbye,
'Cause that's all I've ever known
Then, you took me by surprise
You said, "I'll never leave you alone"
You said, "I remember how we felt, sitting by the water
And every time I look at you, it's like the first time
I fell in love with a careless man's careful daughter
She is the best thing that's ever been mine"
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing, that's ever been mine
Do you believe it?
We're gonna make it now
And I can see it
Santana's eyes found Brittany's as she finished; Brittany was smiling through her tears and nodding at Santana. Santana winked as Brittany drew a heart over her face and pointed at Santana.
"Thank you all! Thank you for allowing me to reclaim that song. I'm glad you enjoyed it."
Santana continued on with Avril Levigne's "Complicated", Amy Winehouse's "Valerie" (which caused Brittany to laugh and cheer loudly), and Hollie Col's "She Knows"
"Thank you all," Santana smiled at the crowd as they clapped and cheered for her, "last song of the night and, as has become my tradition, this one's for you, Britt. I love you."
She says I smell like safety and home
I named both of her eyes forever and please-don't-go
I could be a morning sunrise all the time, all the time, yeah
This could be good, this could be good
I can't change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can't change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love, my love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
What's your middle name?
Do you hate your job?
Do you fall in love too easily?
What's your favorite word?
Do you like kissing girls?
Can I call you baby?
Yeah, yeah
She says that people stare
'Cause we look so good together
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I can't change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can't change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love, my love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
I'm not crying on Sundays (love is patient, love is kind)
I'm not crying on Sundays
I'm not crying on Sundays (love is patient, love is kind)
No, oh
My love, my love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
Santana stepped off the stage to thunderous applause and cheering. The Taverna was full to beyond capacity; Britt had been right, Spyro was making bank.
She reached the table and kissed Britt's cheek before sitting down, drinking half a bottle of water, and dabbing herself with a towel. Brittany's look was one of soft adoration.
"Every time I think you can't surprise me and I can't love you anymore than I already do … you sing something like that and I fall all over again."
"Britt …" Santana smiled shyly and bit her bottom lip.
"She's good, no? Yes! Of course she is! Santana Lopez, everybody! She's here tomorrow night for her last engagement. Come, see her before she becomes superstar!" Santana laughed as Spyro wound up the crowd. She honestly didn't know where he thought he could put any more people.
She looked at Brittany who smiled brightly. "I told you, honey, they love you. Maybe we should reconsider living here."
Santana laughed. "I'm starting to think you had the right idea all along."
Spyro came over to congratulate her and to tell them he'd see them tomorrow.
Santana smiled and nodded, finished her water, and stood up. "You ready to get your dance on?".
"With you? Always."
